The journalist Lou Grant (Edward Asner) who moved from Minneapolis to Los Angeles to assume the role of editor of the Tribune newspaper that sails in troubled waters, faces the challenge of reviving the glories of the newspaper and his collaborators as a young and ambitious reporters Joe Rossi (Robert Walden), Billie Newman (Linda Kelsey) and photographer Dennis Price (Daryl Anderson). The team deals with issues considered hot, and without fear revived despite the skepticism of the Tribune newspaper's owner, Mrs. Pynchon (Macy Marchand).
