DSM-IV-TR Diagnostic Criteria for ASD

A. The person has been exposed to a traumatic event :

1) that involved actual or threatened death or serious injury

2) the person's response involved intense fear, helplessness, or horror

B. three (or more) dissociative symptoms

C. The traumatic event is persistently reexperienced

D. Marked avoidance of stimuli that arouse recollections of the trauma

E. Marked symptoms of anxiety or increased arousal

F. The disturbance causes clinically significant distress or impairment

G. The disturbance lasts for a minimum of 2 days and a maximum

of 4 weeks and occurs within 4 weeks of the traumatic event.

ICD-10 Diagnostic criteria for acute stress reaction

- immediate and clear temporal connection between the impact of an exceptional stressor and the onset of symptoms;

- onset is usually within a few minutes;

- show a mixed and usually changing picture: - daze - depression - anxiety - anger - despair - overactivity - withdrawal

- resolve rapidly (within a few hours at the most);


Definizione:

Reazione patologica acuta ad un fatto gravemente traumatico sul piano emotivo.

Si stabilisce immediatamente in seguito all’evento ed è transitoria.



Quadro clinico:Correlati psichici:

- stato di “shock emotivo”,

- derealizzazione/depersonalizzazione,

- “anestesia” emotiva

- amnesia per l’evento traumatico o parti di esso

Correlati somatici (iperarousal neurovegetativo):

- ipersudorazione,

- tachipnea,

- tachicardia,

- ipertensione arteriosa,

- vertigini…

DSM-IV-TR Diagnostic Criteria for PTSD

A. Traumatic stressor• An event, or events, in which an individual experiences, witnesses, or is confronted with life endangerment, death, or serious injury or threat to self or others; and• The individual responds to the experience with feelings of intense fear, horror, or helplessness

B. Re-experiencing symptoms (one or more)

C. Avoidance and numbing symptoms (three or more)

D. Hyperarousal symptoms (two or more)

E. Minimum symptom duration of 1 month

F. Symptoms cause distress or functional impairment


DSM-IV-TR Diagnostic Criteria for PTSD

Specifiers:

- Acute: Symptom duration from 1 to 3 months

- Chronic: Symptom duration greater than 3 months

- Delayed onset: Symptom onset at least 6 months after the stressor


ICD-10 Diagnostic criteria for PTSD

A. stressful event or situation (either short- or long-lasting) of exceptionally threatening or catastrophic nature, which cause pervasive distress in almost anyone.

B. intrusive ‘flashbacks‘

C. avoidance of circumstances associated with the stressor

D. Either of the following must be present: (1) inability to recall some important aspects of the period of exposure to the stressor; (2) increased psychological sensitivity and arousal (two symptoms or more)

E. Criteria B, C and D must all be met within 6 months of the stressful event or of the end of a period of stress.

(For some purposes, onset delayed more than 6 months may be included, but this should be clearly specified).
