Nel Alediterraneo risultano presenti le seguenti specie di Etr-

Nella raccoltn in esame, fatta nel golfo di Napoli a cura della Stazione Zoologicn, ci s o n o 12 di queste specie; mancano cioe E. iiiessniteiisis, Tliysnnoessn guegarin, iVetnntoscelis ntlaiiticn, rllegn- iiictipliaties cafiiinhi , che neanche da TATTERSALL (1909) ') e 2111- n i m (1915) 3, sono elencate come specie del golfo.

Per Negariycliplrniies coirchi e Sty. ~~inxiitiiiiii non ho dati re- lativi alle lor0 pescate, per le altre sFecie ho riassunto nell'annessa tabella la lor0 distribuzione in profonditk Incidentalmente 6 da ri- cordare che tutte queste specie possono taggiungere, negli oceani, considerevoli profonditii (2000-4000 m.).

La quasi totalith delle pescate sono state fatte nei mesi d i agosto e settembre che sono poi quelle piu interessanti se si vuole rilevare una piu o meno grande euritermia delle specie. Ho omesso percib qualunque considerazione su ditferenze stagionali.

Dni dati riportati nella tabella intanto, si rileva che solo X e - gcliiictiplrnizes rzovvegica 6 esc1usivdmente di superficie ; le altre specie sono tutte presenti nella zona tra gli 800 e i 1000 m. che appnre anche essere quella piu ricca per numero di individui. So10 E. I:vohiiii si sposta note.volmente verso l’alto venendo in superficie o quasi ; Sty. abbveuintuiii e loizgicohe sono piuttosto egualmente distribuite ma a1 disotto dei 100 m. e le altre specie in gran parte si rifugiano nella zona a temperatura sicuramente costante.

Anzi possiamo vedere che dai 300 ai 600 m., cioit a1 passaggio dalla zona n ternperatura variabile a quella a temperatura costante c’e una grande rarefazione d i specie e d i individui , rarefazione totale a 500 m.

Qualche aspetto della riportata distribuzione merita perb una attenta verilica, quale la grande interruzione di alcune specie pre- senti in superficie e che ricomparirebbero solo a 600 m. di profon- dith o ancora p i l gil.
