The panel thickness varies: 9.5 cm, 12.5 cm, 13.5 cm, 15.5 cm, 18.5 cm, 20.5 cm, 21.5 cm, 24.0 cm, 26.0 cm, 30.5 cm, 35.0 cm. The 17.9 cm, 20.8 cm and 25.0 cm standard flat horizontal partitions (lofts) can have up to 6 m clear span, while the sloping partitions (roofs) thickness range is 16.0 cm, 17.9 cm, 18.5 cm, 20,8 cm, 25 cm.

ONLY THE BEST WOODThe wood we use comes only from PEFC (Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification) conifers in the Schwarzwald. The preservation and stability of this material are ensured by a working process based on felling mature trees in the right vegetation condition during the wintertime in the forest, and on subsequent long drying periods during which the trunks lose sugar and starch, which means that they cannot be attacked by fungi or insects. Each phase in this process requires strict compliance with lengthy schedules, involving high management and procurement difficulties; the product obtained, however, is outstanding: it is wood in the strict sense of the word, without any chemicals such as glues or impregnating paint, offering the best of its unique features, which are not known to everybody.

THE PRODUCTION LINEHoldersbach, Schwarzwald, Germany: this is where our structures are produced, in the historical Rombach factory, establ ished as far back as 1934.Our production chain covers large areas inside the Black Forest, which al lows us to manage al l processing phases in-house, through highly ski l led co-workers who careful ly select the raw material, which wil l then be processed in protected and control led rooms using cutt ing-edge technologies, designed on purpose and constructed ad hoc.The shift from architectonic to executive design requires a close-knit staff of engineers, draftsmen and carpenters who make ideas and projects come true by using state-of-the-art software to prepare structural and static calculations, 3D projections and machine data for production.

La métamorphose qui s’opère de la conception architecturale à la mise en œuvre passe par un personnel très soudé d’ingénieurs, de dessinateurs, de menuisiers qui donnent corps aux idées et aux projets en effectuant au moyens de logiciels à la pointe de la modernité des calculs structurels et statiques, des projections 3D et des données destinées à la machine pour la production.

DER SCHWARZWALDTHE BLACK FORESTThis original and disquieting name dates back to the Roman age: in Latin it was known first as Marciana Silva and then as Silva Nigra, because its vegetation consisted of dark green trees, so thick that it was impossible for sunrays to shine through. Our wood is sourced from a 160 square-kilometre area of land straddling the borders of three countries: Switzerland, France and Germany. The whole area is characterised by hills, woods, pastures, wide valleys, small lakes, waterfalls and picturesque villages. The green countryside stretches to the horizon, dominated by conifer woods, which are seen as both a resource and a proud heritage to nurture and preserve for the future. Forestry in these woods is carried out in close harmony with nature, with the aim of producing the highest quality timber and conserving the heritage of the forest through the promotion of its natural dynamic processes.

DER SCHWARZWALDEs ist der Herkunftsort unseres Rohstoffs, dem Holz. Der charakteristische und beunruhigende Name wurde dem Schwarzwald zu römischen Zeiten gegeben: auf Lateinisch wurde er zunächst Marciana Silva und dann Silva Nigra genannt, da in der Vegetation Bäume dunkelgrüner Farbe dominierten, die so dicht waren, dass kein Sonnenstrahl sie durchdrang. Das gesamte Gebiet ist 160 Quadratkilometer groß und grenzt an drei Länder: die Schweiz, Frankreich und Deutschland. Charakteristisch für die Region sind die vielen Hügel und Wälder, die Weideplätze und Talebenen, die kleinen Seen und Wasserfälle, die romantischen kleinen Dörfer. Das Grün erstreckt sich bis über den Horizont hinaus, wobei Nadelbaumwälder vorherrschen, die gleichermaßen eine wichtige Ressource und zu schützendes Allgemeingut sind. Die moderne Forstwirtschaft, wie sie hier angewandt wird, ist sehr naturnah und gleichermaßen darauf ausgelegt, hochqualitatives Holz zu produzieren und den Waldbestand zu schützen, indem die natürlichen Vorgänge im Wald unterstützt werden.

Il suo nome caratteristico e inquietante le fu attribuito in epoca romana: in latino, era stata chiamata dapprima Marciana Silva e poi Silva Nigra, poiché la sua vegetazione era caratterizzata da alberi di colore verde scuro talmente fitti da non lasciar passare i raggi del sole. Il territorio ha un estensione di 160 chilometri quadrati, nei quali si sviluppano parte dei confini di ben tre stati: Svizzera, Francia e Germania. L’intera zona è caratterizzata dalla presenza di colline, boschi, pascoli, vallate, piccoli laghi, cascate e romantici villaggi. Il verde va oltre l’orizzonte e dominano i boschi di conifere che sono considerati al tempo stesso risorsa e patrimonio da tutelare. La silvicoltura odierna, praticata in questa zona è molto vicina alla natura, ed è orientata all’esigenza di produrre legno di ottima qualità, e alla conservazione del patrimonio forestale, attraverso l’incremento dei naturali processi dinamici nel bosco.

Son nom caractéristique et étrange/inquiétant lui a été attribué à l’époque romaine: en latin, elle a été d’abord appelé Marciana Silva et ensuite Silva Nigra, depuis sa végétation a été caractérisée par des arbres vert sombre plantés de façon si dense qu’ils ne permettent pas aux rayons du soleil de passer. Son territoire s’étend sur 160 kilomètres carrés, dans lesquels se développent/prennent place des tronçons/parties de frontière de trois pays: la Suisse, la France et l’Allemagne. MOON WOODThe elements can also be manufactured using what is known as “moon wood”, namely timber from trees which have been felled following the procedures described above and during the right lunar phases; this means that the trees are felled only on waning moon dates according to the forestry calendar. This timber has even better high-performance qualities in terms of stability, durability, hardness and resistance to parasites, and is available while annual stocks last.
