storia
My great-grandfather Giuseppecultivated the vineyards as a tenantfarmer. His dream was to own thelands, but life was too short to fulfil it.My grandfather Angelo took care ofthat. He was a farmer and a grafter(perforce during those years after thevine pest) and he established ourcompany in 1936 with the cultivationof MAIOLI vineyard, hoping to enlargethe property, which was very small forsuch a large family.
My father Giuseppe succeeded him.Unlike most of his contemporaries, whomoved to the city during the rise ofindustrialization in order to work in afactory, he was fond of his ownvineyards, he took care of those whichbelonged to his father, he purchased
and cultivated new plots of land.Unfortunately those years were verydifficult for quality wines. For thisreason my parents renounced to theidea of vinifying so the produced grapeswere processed by the nearest winegrowers’ cooperative.
1989 was the year of a big change forthe company, when my father told mehe wanted to uproot some vineyards. In that period my husband and I haddifferent jobs even if we both comefrom families of wine-makers.After a short time we decided to returnto our origins and to work again in thevineyard in order to produce onlyquality wines.

Nascetta is an ancientsemi-aromatic whitegrape variety unique toour area which, alreadytowards the end of 19thcentury, was famed forits “exquisite wine”.Today we produce a fineelegant dry wine from it.We have been amongstthe few producers whobelieved in its ownpeculiarities and havebeen sure of its possibilityof producing a wine ofgreat ageing potential. In fact it reaches its bestafter a refining of fewyears in bottle. It pairs with seafood orvegetable appetizers;delicate dishes.

Our Dogliani SanBernardo is named afterthe vineyard situatedbelow the chapeldedicated to this Saint. This very old vineyard islocated at a higheraltitude compared to theothers of our company. Its longer refining in 25hloak barrels makes itdifferent from Maioli andafterwards refined inbottle it requires someyears of aging. It is produced only duringthe optimum years. It has a great structureand it is rich and complexbut also harmonic andpersistent in the end. This wine goes well withmeats and ripenedcheeses.

With our Barbera D’Albawe aimed to create apleasant wine, whichstands out for its highdrinkability and a niceliveliness in contrast withthe more complex styleof Cadò. It is a veryagreeable wine in itssimplicity, with a lusciousand well-balanced fruitfragrance. Its “style” appeals aboveall young drinkers. It is vinified in steel andbottled at the beginningof the Summer whichfollows the harvest.Particularly fitting withtraditional cold cuts andmixed boiled meat.

DolcettoWine has been cultivated for years onthese hills: these lands have aparticular micro climate and this tendrilfound here its own ideal habitat. Thestream of the years and of the harvestsunderlines the tradition of an antiquetendril, the love and care for the winethat it produces and the ambition, toimprove always its own quality.
There has been always a difficultrelationship between the hills ofDoglianese and Dolcetto wine.On one hand we can mention thegreat sacrifices, the hard work on thesesteep hills, the care of a demandingtendril, on the other hand we have toconsider the satisfaction for a high-quality wine of an undoubted characterand identity. The intense ruby red -almost bluish - colour makes us proudof the job we’ve done; the aromaticperfumes and the clear fragrances offruit and violet, which are sometimesmore complex with hints ofbrushwood, give us wonderfulsensations. The full-bodied and richflavor, with a slight scent of almondsin the end and its long persistence inmouth, let us forget all the efforts wehave made, in order to produce it.
