ITCLab BERGAMO

10

ITCLab Innovation and Technology Central Laboratory is Italcementi’s new research & innovation center. The center, designed by the American architect Richard Meier, is set in the Kilometro Rosso Science & Technology Park, which is strategically located on the outskirts of Bergamo and parallel to the nearby Milan-Venice highway.

In the ITCLab building, 7,500 m2 out of a total of 11,000 m2 surface area will be exclusively reserved for research laboratories. ITCLab will be home to employees and researchers who are currently working at other Italcementi Group sites.

WHAT WE KNOW…

…WHAT WE DON’T

ENERGY EFFICIENCY: THE GOAL

15

ENERGY EFFICIENCY FACTS

16

A clear political and administrative

framework

(guidelines, legislation, incentives)

A chain of certified competences

(technologies, energy audit, energy management)

Financial and law system

(innovative financial instruments )

Information and data infrastructure

Bold action on citizens

ENERGY EFFICIENCY TOOLS

17

• TPF (Third-Party Financing)a contractual arrangement involving a third party — in addition to the energy supplier and the beneficiary of the energy efficiency improvement measure —that provides the capital for that measure and charges the beneficiary a fee equivalent to a part of the energy savings achieved as a result of the energy efficiency improvement measure. That third party may or may not be an ESCO

• EPC (Energy Performance Contracting)•a contractual arrangement between the beneficiary and the provider (normally an ESCO) of an energy efficiency improvement measure, where investments in that measure are paid for in relation to a contractually agreed level of energy efficiency improvement

• ESCO (Energy Service Companies) companies delivering energy services whose payment is based either wholly or partly on the energy savings achieved and accepts some degree of financial risk in so doing.

•Boost energy efficiency market and the creation of new ESCo

•spread energy efficiency applications creating innovative financial

schemes based on EPC as guarantee

•develop and disseminate technical skills (energy audit, energy

management, M&V procedure)

•foster exchanges of best practices between public-sector bodies on

energy-efficient public procurement

Energy Efficiency plan for Public buildings and infrastructures

DTTN is involving the Public Administration, Financial Institutions, local

companies and professional resources to define shared standards for EPC

for public sector and test them on pilot applications

ENERGY DISTRICT

•Oil Free ValleyTo transform a touristic mountain valley in an “Oil Free Zone” or in a zone

where all energy is produced by renewable sources :

- hydroelectric and photovoltaic (electric power )- Solar , wood biogas ( heating)- hydrogen and biomethan (mobility)

•District Heating and Cooling in mountain- 11 Systems working in Trentino ( cogeneration tri-generation )

•Distributed generation of renewable energy from greebuildings

Efficient combination of local available renewable resources:- Solar- Biomass- Geothermal,- Energy efficient greenbuildings
