I sistemi di posa in opera Die Verlegearten

Il Cotto de Il Ferrone può essere posto inopera con i seguenti sistemi:

• SISTEMA AD INCOLLAGGIO, perCOTTOFINE e spessori uniformi. • SISTEMA A SOTTOFONDO, inalternativa all’incollaggio con sottofondo disabbia e cemento.• SISTEMA A MURATURA, per grandiformati e alti spessori.

Terminata la posa delle piastrelle siprocede alla imboiaccatura, cioè alriempimento delle fughe tra piastrella epiastrella.

AVVERTENZE RIGUARDO LA POSA INOPERA IN ESTERNO

Il Cotto de IL FERRONE è adatto per laposa in esterno poiché è garantito ecertificato ingelivo. Tuttavia la posa dipavimentazione all’esterno deve essereeseguita con l’osservanza di tutte lenorme della regola d’arte, poiché non èsufficiente la garantita ingelività perscongiurare danni causati al materialestesso da una non corretta posa in opera.

Ecco alcune indicazioni utili alla posadel Cotto in esterno:

PENDENZELe pendenze devono essere eseguite

al di sotto dello strato diimpermeabilizzazione e possono variarecomunque da un minimo del 1,5 – 2 %.

Se non vengono rispettate lependenze, l’acqua stagnando sotto lapavimentazione, con il gelo può creareinconvenienti che possono addirittura darluogo al sollevamento del pavimento o delmassetto.

IMPERMEABILIZZAZIONEPer pavimentazioni su soletta, prima

dell’esecuzione del sottofondo ènecessario provvedere allaimpermeabilizzazione. Il mantoimpermeabile può essere realizzato conprodotti da valutarsi caso per caso, marimane indispensabile che le acque chevengono raccolte dallo strato diimpermeabilizzazione siano convogliate inun apposito scarico. Sulla guaina diimpermeabilizzazione , al fine di creare nelsottofondo un corretto drenaggio delleacque, può essere opportuno posizionareuna guaina con sezione a “coda dirondine” espressamente studiata perquesta funzione.

STRATO DI SEPARAZIONE e di SCORRIMENTO

È necessario in tutte le pavimentazionicon strato di impermeabilizzazione e puòconsistere anche in un semplice foglio dipolitilene.

Esso ha la funzione di impedire ilcontatto dello strato impermeabilizzante,normalmente aderente al sottofondo o allasoletta, con lo strato legante (massetto),ed a evitare che a seguito della diversitàdei ritiri, si laceri lo stratoimpermeabilizzante, il checomprometterebbe inesorabilmente latenuta dell’acqua.

GIUNTI DI DILATAZIONEHanno lo scopo di permettere e

compensare eventuali variazionidimensionali e devono essere ricavati sianella struttura della costruzione sia nelpavimento , con il suo massetto.

Un giunto elastico inoltre dovrà essereeseguito lungo tutte le pareti perimetralidella pavimentazione.

HINWEISE FÜR DAS VERLEGEN IMFREIEN

Der Cotto von IL FERRONE eignet sichfür die Verlegung im Freien, denn er ist alsfrostbeständig zertifiziert. Bei derVerlegung im Außenbereich sindallerdings alle Regeln der Kunst zubeachten, da die garantierteFrostbeständigkeit allein nicht ausreicht,um bei nicht sachgemäßem VerlegenMaterialschäden zu verhindern. Hiereinige nützliche Hinweise zum Verlegendes Cotto im Freien:

SCHRÄGE Die Schräge muss unter der

Isolierschicht ausgeführt werden und kannvon mindestens 1,5 bis 2 variieren, dasich sonst Wasser zwischen Isolierschichtund Bodenbelag ansammelt und derBoden oder die Bindemittelschicht beiFrost angehoben wird.

ABDICHTEN Vor dem Verlegen auf Beton-

Unterböden muss vor dem Bett dieAbdichtung ausgeführt werden. Dies kannmit handelsüblichen Produkten erfolgen;das von dieser Isolierschicht gesammelteWasser muss immer in einen Abflussgeleitet werden. Damit eine korrekteDrainage im Bett gewährleistet ist, kannauf der Abdichtung eine speziell für dieseZwecke gedachte Unterlage mitschwalbenschwanzförmigem Querschnittverlegt werden.

TRENN- und ABLAUFSCHICHT Ist bei allen Bodenbelägen mit darunter

liegender Abdichtung erforderlich undkann auch ganz einfach aus einer PE-Folie bestehen, die verhindert, dass die inder Regel auf dem Untergrund haftendenAbdichtung mit der Bindemittelschicht inBerührung kommt und die Isolierschichtdurch Spannungen reißt und irreparabelbeschädigt wird.

DEHNUNGSFUGEN Die Dehnungsfugen sollen allfällige

Laying and fixing methods Les systèmes de pose

Il Ferrone cotto can be laid and fixed bythe following methods:

• GLUING SYSTEM, for COTTOFINE anduniform thicknesses. • FOUNDATION SYSTEM, an alternativeto adhesive, using a bed of sand andcement. • MASONRY SYSTEM, for large tile sizesand thicker materials.

Once the tiles are in place and firmlybonded, the gaps between adjacentedges are filled by grouting.

NOTES ON LAYING AND FIXINGOUTDOORS

IL FERRONE cotto is guaranteed andcertified frost-resistant, and thereforesuitable for outdoor applications.Nonetheless, when floors are laidoutdoors, the work must be carried out toproper professional standards, as the factthat the material is guaranteed frost-resistant will not be sufficient in itself toprevent damage caused by incorrectinstallation.

Points to remember when laying Cottooutdoors:

GRADIENTS Gradients must be incorporated

beneath the waterproofing layer and canbe as steep or shallow as appropriate,but no less than 1.5 – 2 %.

If gradients are not properlyincorporated, water will collectunderneath the tiles and cause problemsin freezing temperatures. The formation ofice could even cause the tiles or thescreed beneath to lift.

WATERPROOFING When laying floors on a slab or deck,

the surface must be rendered waterproofbefore putting down a substrate. Thewaterproof membrane can be appliedusing whatever proprietary product maysuit the application, but whatever systemis adopted, it is essential that the waterrunning off the membrane should bechannelled into a drain.

To ensure that water drains properlyfrom the substrate, it may help to add anadditional layer of material over thewaterproofing layer, consisting of a sheetwith a dovetail-channelled sectional profileespecially designed for the purpose.

SEPARATION AND SLIPPAGE LAYER This is needed for any floor laid over a

waterproof membrane, and can beprovided by an ordinary sheet ofpolythene.

The function of this interfacing layer isto prevent direct contact between thewaterproof membrane on the one hand,applied normally to the substrate or slab,and the screed on the other. Without it,the opposing forces of shrinkage maycause the membrane to tear and thisinevitably will mean that water cannot bekept out.

EXPANSION JOINTS Expansion joints serve to

accommodate any backgroundmovement in the fabric of the building;they must be incorporated both into themain structure and into the screed andfloor covering.

A flexible joint must also be includedaround the entire perimeter of the tiledarea, where the floor meets the walls.

AVERTISSEMENTS POUR LA POSE ENEXTÉRIEURS

Le Cotto IL FERRONE est adapté à lapose en extérieur car il est garanti etcertifié ingélif. Toutefois la pose decarreaux en extérieurs doit être faite dansle respect de toutes les normes et lesrègles de l’art car la garantie d’ingélivitén’empêche pas les dommages dérivantsd’une pose mal faite.

Indications regardant la pose enextérieur:

PENTES Les pentes doivent être effectuées en-

dessous de la couched’imperméabilisation et peuvent varierdans tous les cas d’un minimum de 1,5 –2 %.

Si les pentes ne sont pas respectées,l’eau stagnante sous le sol, avec le gel,peut créer des inconvénients qui peuventdonner lieu au soulèvement du sol ou dulit de pose.

IMPERMÉABILISATION Pour la pose sur dalle, avant de poser

le lit, imperméabiliser. Le produit utilisésera choisi selon les cas, mais il estindispensable que les eaux d’écoulementsoient déviées vers une évacuationappropriée.

Sur la gaine d’imperméabilisation, pourcréer un drainage correct des eaux, ilpeut être utile de poser une gaine àsection en queue d’aronde spécialementétudiée pour cette fonction.

Indispensable pour tous les carrelagesavec couche d’imperméabilisation, ellepeut consister en une simple feuillepolyéthylène.

Elle a la fonction d’empêcher le contactentre la couche imperméabilisante, engénéral adhérente au lit de pose ou à ladalle, et la couche de pose liante(mortier), pour éviter que suite à ladifférence des retraits, la couched’imperméabilisant se lacère etcompromette de façon irrémédiablel’étanchéité.

JOINTS DE DILATATION Ils servent à permettre et compenser

les variations dimensionnelles éventuelles,et doivent être pratiqués dans la structuredu bâtiment et celle du carrelage et deson lit de pose.

Un joint élastique en outre devra êtrepratiqué le long de toutes les paroispérimétrales du sol.

Il trattamento e la manutenzione del cotto

Endbehandlung und Pflege des cotto

La superficie del cotto non risulta finita senon è trattata e protetta in manieraappropriata.

Per alcuni tipi di cotto questaoperazione di trattamento è fatta da noidirettamente in fabbrica, così che essirisultino già finiti ( è il caso delCOTTONOVO, il LUCE e il MAIOLICATO ).

Per tutti gli altri cotti l’operazione diprotezione è da effettuare in cantiere,obbligatoria in ambienti interni, nonnecessaria in esterni dove è addirittura dasconsigliare se tende ad eliminarecompletamente la naturale traspirazionedel cotto, caratteristica che favoriscel’evaporazione dell’umidità sottostantealtrimenti deleteria.

Il “trattamento” è un interventoarticolato, che consiste in alcuneoperazioni distinte:

1) LAVAGGIO 2) TRATTAMENTO 3) MANUTENZIONE

Le prime due fasi si realizzanosolitamente a cantiere aperto ed una solavolta, la terza è ripetitiva e viene eseguitain maniera semplice dall’utente stessodurante la vita e l’uso della superficie incotto e serve anche a rimuovere losporco.

IL LAVAGGIOE’ un’operazione fondamentale per la

buona riuscita del successivo trattamentoe va eseguita a pavimento asciutto

( occorrono indicativamente 20-30giorni dopo la posa a malta e circa 10-15giorni per la posa a colla, a seconda dellecondizioni di tempo e delle stagioni ).

1)Bagnare il pavimento con acqua epoi lavare e strofinare il pavimento conAcido Tamponato per qualche minuto.Fare molta attenzione a rimuovere ogniresiduo di calce, cemento o colla dallepiastrelle.

2)Procedere ad un accuratorisciacquo ( fino ad ottenere acqua chiara )prima che il pavimento si asciughi dopo lapulitura con acido.

TRATTAMENTO Il trattamento si esegue a pavimento

asciutto ( si consiglia di lasciare circolarel’aria nell’ambiente anche in inverno perfacilitare l’evaporazione dell’umidità ), itempi di attesa dopo il lavaggio variano da3 a 10 giorni in funzione della stagione,del tipo di cotto e del tipo di posa.

Esistono molti tipi di trattamento e incommercio tanti validi prodotti, dai piùnaturali ai più moderni.

Trattamento tradizionale con cera inpasta:

1)Stendere con spugna o pennellessail prodotto di base ( cera liquida confunzione di impregnante e livellante)

2)Dopo 24 ore stesura uniforme di unamano di cera in pasta cremosa daspazzolare, per meglio distendere e farassorbire il prodotto

3)Dopo 48 ore stesura di una secondamano di cera in pasta cremosa.

Trattamento con cere liquide:Le operazioni di stesura sono molto più

semplici rispetto ai trattamenti tradizionaliessendo composte esclusivamente daapplicazioni successive, a pennello o astraccio, di idroemulsioni autolivellanti eautolucidanti.

LA MANUTENZIONEIl pavimento così ottenuto non ha

bisogno di altro, periodicamente aseconda dell’usura si può utilizzare unacera liquida di mantenimento, facilmentereperibile in commercio.

Per la normale pulizia usare detergentineutri o lavare semplicemente con acqua.

Bei manchen Cotto-Arten besorgen wirdas direkt in der Fabrik (COTTONOVO,LUCE und MAIOLICATO) und liefern sieverlegefertig aus.

Bei allen anderen Cotto-Arten muss dieEndbehandlung vor Ort vorgenommenwerden; für Innenräume ist sieobligatorisch, bei der Verlegung imAußenbereich hingegen ist sogar davonabzuraten, wenn dadurch die natürlicheLuftdurchlässigkeit des Cottobeeinträchtigt wird und die darunterbefindliche Feuchtigkeit nicht verdampfenkann.

Die Endbehandlung erfolgt in dreiArbeitsschritten:

1) WASCHEN 2) WACHSEN 3) PFLEGEN

Das Waschen und das Wachsenwerden in der Regel noch während derBauarbeiten und nur ein einziges Malausgeführt, die Pflege in regelmäßigenzeitlichen Abständen und bei Bedarfdurch den Benutzer selbst; sie dientauch zum Entfernen vonSchmutzablagerungen.

DAS WASCHEN Das Waschen ist für das gute Gelingen

der Nachbehandlung von grundlegenderBedeutung und muss bei trockenemBoden erfolgen (also in der Regel etwa20-30 Tage nach dem Verlegen mitMörtel und etwa 10-15 Tage nach demVerlegen mit Kleber, je nach Wetterlageund Jahreszeit).

1) Den Boden mit Wasser nassmachen und dann einige Minuten miteinem Absäuerungsmittel waschen undabreiben. Dabei müssen alle Kalk-,Zement- oder Kleberrückstände entferntwerden.

2) Sorgfältig so oft mit sauberemWasser nachwischen, bis dasWischwasser klar bleibt und den Bodentrocknen lassen.

DAS WACHSEN Der Boden darf erst gewachst werden,

wenn er vollkommen trocken ist (damit dieFeuchtigkeit schneller verdampft, sollteder Raum auch im Winter gelüftetwerden), was je nach Jahreszeit, Cotto-Typ und Verlegeart 3 bis 10 Tage dauernkann.

Es gibt viele Wachstypen und imHandel sind viele gute Produkte erhältlich,vom Naturwachs bis zum Kunstwachs.

Traditionelles Wachsen mit Wachspaste: 1) Das Grundprodukt mit einem

Schwamm oder einem großen Pinselauftragen (Flüssigwachs mitimprägnierender und ausgleichenderFunktion).

2) Nach 24 Stunden eine gleichmäßigeSchicht Wachspaste auftragen undeinbürsten, damit das Produkt besserverteilt und aufgenommen wird.

3) Nach 48 Stunden eine zweiteSchicht auftragen.

Flüssigwachs: Das Auftragen ist wesentlich einfacher

als mit der Wachspaste; es handelt sichum selbstnivellierende undselbstglänzende, wässrige Emulsionen,die mehrmals mit einem Pinsel odereinem Tuch aufgetragen werden.

DIE PFLEGE Der so behandelte Boden muss nur

mehr regelmäßig mit einemhandelsüblichen Flüssigwachsnachbehandelt bzw. gepflegt werden. Fürdie normale Reinigung genügt einneutrales Reinigungsmittel oder einfachnur Wasser.

Treatment and maintenance of cotto

Le traitement et l’entretien du cotto

The surface of cotto is not finished until ithas been properly treated and protected.

For certain types of cotto, thistreatment is applied before the materialleaves the factory, and the tile is suppliedas a finished product (COTTONOVO,LUCE and MAIOLICATO are finished tiles).

All other cotto products are untreated,and the operation of treating andprotecting the surface is done on site.This is essential indoors, whereasoutdoors it is not necessary and eveninadvisable, as it robs the material of itsnatural breathability and preventspotentially damaging moisture trappedunder the floor from evaporating freely.

“Treatment” is an exact processinvolving certain distinct steps:

1) WASHING 2) TREATMENT 3) MAINTENANCE

The first two steps are carried outgenerally by the flooring contractors, onceonly, whereas the third is a simpleoperation repeated periodically by theuser throughout the life of the cottosurface, and will serve also to keep thefloor clean.

WASHING This operation is fundamentally

important to the success of the followingtreatment step, and must not be carriedout until the bo nding interface has dried(20-30 days are needed typically forcement mortar, and 10-15 days for tileadhesive, depending on weather andseasonal conditions).

1) Wet the floor with water and washdown, then proceed to rub the surfacewith a Buffered Acid for a few minutes. Besure to remove all traces of lime, cementor adhesive from the tiles.

2) Rinse the surface thoroughly (untilthe water runs off clean), and before thefloor has time to dry after being cleanedwith acid.

TREATMENT Treatment is carried out on the floor

when dry (the room should be well airedduring these operations, even in winter,so that moisture can evaporate moreeasily); the floor will need between 3 and10 days to dry after being washed,depending on the season, the type ofcotto and the method of installation.

There are many types of treatment, andno lack of good proprietary productsavailable, traditional and modern alike.

Traditional treatment using paste wax: 1) Using a sponge or flat brush, spread

a first coat of wax (liquid consistency,serving to impregnate and level the tilesurface)

2) Wait 24 hours, then apply a morecreamy coat of wax, this time working-inwith a brush to ensure the product isabsorbed by the tiles.

3) Wait 48 hours, then apply a secondcreamy coat of wax.

Treatment using liquid waxes: With these products, the procedure is

much simpler than with traditional pastewaxes. Liquid waxes are self-levelling andself-polishing water emulsions applied insuccessive coats with a brush or rag (no“elbow grease” required).

MAINTENANCE The floor will now need no further

treatment, but it can be freshened upperiodically, depending on the level ofwear and tear, with a proprietary liquidwax available from stores everywhere.

For normal cleaning purposes, useneutral detergents or simply wash withclean water.

La surface du cotto n’est pas finie si ellen’est pas traitée et protégée d’une façonappropriée.

Pour certains types de cotto cetteopération de traitement est faite cheznous directement en usine, de manièreque les carreaux soient finis (par exempleCOTTONOVO, LUCE et MAIOLICATO).

Pour tous les autres produitsl’opération de protection doit être faite surle chantier, elle est obligatoire enintérieurs, non nécessaire en extérieurs,et même déconseillée si cette opérationfait perdre aux carreaux leur transpirationnaturelle, caractéristique qui favorisel’évaporation de l’humidité sous-jacente,dommageable dans le cas contraire.

Le “traitement” est une interventionarticulée qui se décompose en étapesdistinctes:

1) LAVAGE 2) TRAITEMENT 3) ENTRETIEN

Les deux premières phases seréalisent en général à ciel ouvert uneseule fois. La troisième étape, trèssimple, est répétitive et doit être effectuéepar l’usager pendant la vie de la surfaceen cotto, tout en servant également aunettoyage proprement dit.

LE LAVAGE C’est une opération fondamentale pour

la réussite du traitement suivant, et doitêtre faite à sol sec (en général 20-30jours après la pose sur mortier et 10-15jours en cas de pose par collage, selonles conditions du temps et la saison).

1)Mouiller le sol à l’eau, laver et frotterle carrelage à l’acide dilué pendantquelques minutes. Faire très attention àéliminer toute trace de laitance, ciment oucolle des carreaux.

2)Rincer soigneusement (jusqu’à ceque l’eau soit limpide) avant que le sol nesèche après lavage à l’acide.

TRAITEMENT Le traitement est effectué à sol sec

(bien ventiler même en hiver pour faciliterl’évaporation de l’humidité), les tempsd’attente après lavage varient de 3 à 10jours en fonction des saisons, du type decotto et de la pose.

Il existe une multitude de traitements etde produits sur le marché, des plusnaturels aux plus modernes.

Traitement traditionnel à la cire en pâte: 1)Passer à l’éponge ou au pinceau le

produit de base (cire liquide imprégnanteou de nivellement)

2)Après 24 heures passeruniformément une couche de cire en pâtecrémeuse et brosser pour meilleur lissageet absorption du produit

3)Après 48 heures passer uneseconde couche de cire en pâtecrémeuse.

Traitement à la cire liquide: Les opérations de traitement sont

beaucoup plus simples que pour lestraitements traditionnels, car ellesconsistent exclusivement à passer descouches successives, au pinceau ou auchiffon, d’hydro-émulsions autolissanteset autopolissantes.

L’ENTRETIEN Le carrelage ainsi obtenu n’a besoin de

rien d’autre. Passer le cas échéant selonl’intensité de l’utilisation une cire liquidede maintien, courante sur le marché.

Pour le nettoyage normal utiliser desdétergents neutres ou laver simplement àl’eau.
