RIBBON, design Gianpaolo Monti | Il progetto si fonda su due elementi

guida: i materiali naturali e l’essenzialità del disegno. Infatti la collezione, in tutti

i suoi elementi, vede la rigorosa applicazione di queste due presenze.

Legno di betulla, fior di pelle, cuoio naturale e vetro, come rappresentazione

dell’acqua, sono i materiali utilizzati e scelti per ritrovare il piacere di accarezzare

la morbidezza di un piano in cuoio, o la freschezza di uno in vetro che, per la sua

trasparenza, pare non esserci. Forme che non lasciano nulla al caso e non

concedono nulla al decorativismo formale. Ricerca di rapporti e proporzioni

non certo casuali ma studiati per dare il massimo confort al corpo e piacere

al tatto e all’occhio. Infine un nastro per sostenere i piani, per aprire ante e cassetti,

un ribbon per tenere insieme natura e rigore.

| The design is based on two main features: natural materials and essentiality.

These two features are noticeable throughout the whole collection. Birch wood,

full grain leather, natural leather and glass (representing water) are the materials

that have been chosen for the pleasure of stroking the softness of a leather top

or the freshness of a glass one, made insubstantial by its transparency.

Shapes that leave nothing to chance and no room for over-emphasis of decora-

tion. Research into interdependence and proportions that are anything but casual

and have instead been conceived to provide the body with maximum comfort

while being pleasant to the touch and to the eye. Lastly, a ribbon to support the

tops, to open doors and drawers; a ribbon to keep nature and rigour as one.

| Dieses Projekt basiert auf zwei Grundelementen: den natürlichen Materialien

und der Schlichtheit des Designs. Die Kollektion ist in all ihren Ausformungen

durch diese zwei Merkmale geprägt.

Birkenholz, feinstes Kalbsleder, Naturleder und Glas (Zeichen des Wassers) sind

die verwendeten Materialien, ausgewählt, um die Weichheit einer Fäche aus Leder,

die zu Berühren verleitet zu genießen oder um sich an der kühlen Transparenz

einer Glasplatte zu erfreuen. Diese Formen überlassen nichts dem Zufall und ge-

statten keine formalen Ausschmückungen. Bewußt wurden hier Verhältnisse und

Proportionen festgelegt. Höchster Komfort und absoluter Genuß beim Berühren

und Betrachten sind das Ziel. Und dann ein Band. Ein Band als Stütze für die

Tischplatten und zum Öffnen der Türen und Schubfächer. Ein Ribbon, das

Natürlichkeit und Strenge vereinigt.

| Deux principes fondamentaux guident ce projet: l’utilisation de matériaux

naturels et la pureté du design. Ces données sont, en effet, rigoureusement

appliquées sur tous les éléments de la collection. Le bois de bouleau, le cuir fleur,

le cuir naturel et le verre, pour symboliser l’eau, sont les matériaux utilisés

et choisis pour retrouver le plaisir de caresser la souplesse d’un plan en cuir ou

la fraîcheur d’un plan en verre qui, en raison de sa transparence, semble inexistant.

Des formes qui ne laissent rien au hasard et ne se contentent pas d’un aspect

purement décoratif. Des rapports et des proportions étudiés avec soin pour offrir

un confort maximum au corps sans oublier de satisfaire la vue et le toucher.

Un ruban, enfin, permet de soutenir les plans, d’ouvrir les portes et les tiroirs,

un ribbon grâce auquel naturel et rigueur sont enfin réunis.

| Il gruppo i4 MARIANI è stato fondato nel 1957 dai fratelli Biagio, Tarcisio,

Umberto ed Emilio. La sede è a nord di Milano, in Brianza, territorio che più di ogni

altro ha contribuito allo sviluppo del sistema italiano dell’arredo. In questa realtà

imprenditoriale i4 MARIANI rappresenta attualmente uno dei complessi industriali

più evoluti, con stabilimenti di produzione dislocati su oltre 65.000 mq.

Utilizzando tecniche produttive all’avanguardia, unite a una forte tradizione

artigiana, particolarmente visibile nei mobili rivestiti in cuoio, l’azienda ha saputo

segnare i propri prodotti con valori fondati sul design essenziale, la durata

nel tempo, la qualità della lavorazione e delle finiture. Questi valori le hanno

consentito di affermarsi in comparti molto sensibili ai beni durevoli quali i settori

dell’ufficio, del contract e dell’imbottito.

| The furniture manufacturing group i4 MARIANI was established in 1957 by

the brothers Biagio, Tarcisio, Umberto and Emilio. The group's registered office is

in Brianza, north of Milan - the area that has contributed most to the development

of the Italian furnishing industry. The i4 MARIANI group is today one of the most

advanced industrial complexes in this sector, with production facilities covering over

65,000 sq.m. State-of-the-art manufacturing technology plus a strong handicraft

tradition - particularly noticeable in the leather upholstered items - make the

group's products unmistakable in their essential design, durability and quality of

working and finishes. Thanks to these characteristics, the group is well-established

in areas, such as the office, hotel and upholstered furnishing sectors, that are

highly sensitive to durable goods.

| Die Möbelwerke i4 MARIANI wurden 1957 von den Gebrüdern Biagio, Tarcisio,

Umberto und Emilio Mariani gegründet. Der Firmensitz liegt nördlich von Mailand in

der Region Brianza, dem Gebiet, das am meisten zur Entwicklung des italienischen

Möbelmarktes beigetragen hat. In diesem Kontext gehört i4 MARIANI derzeit mit

Produktionsstätten, die sich über eine Gesamtfläche von 65.000 m2 erstrecken, zu

einen der fortschrittlichsten Industrieunternehmen. Durch den Einsatz modernster

Umberto, Emilio. Le siège de l’entreprise est au nord de Milan, en Brianza,

un territoire qui, plus que tout autre, a contribué au développement du système

italien d’ameublement. Le groupe i4 MARIANI représente actuellement,

avec ses établissements distribués sur plus de 65.000 m2, l’un des complexes

industriels les plus évolués de cette réalité entrepreneuriale.

L’utilisation de techniques de production avancées associée à une grande tradition

artisanale, particulièrement évidente sur les meubles revêtus de cuir, a consenti

à l’entreprise de créer des produits se distinguant par des valeurs telles que

la pureté du design, la durabilité, la qualité du travail et des finitions. Ces valeurs

lui ont permis de s’imposer dans des secteurs très sensibles aux biens durables

| The load-bearingframe is in anodised alu-minium and comprisesthree elements: twobands which act as legsand a perimeter supportof the writing top.The writing top is di-vided into three parts:one central and two sideextension tops madein boxed acid etchedglass or in melamine-coated panel coveredin leather or in particle-board veneered withbirch wood. The threetops are simply laid onthe aluminium frame:if they are in leatheror birch wood they arescrewed to the framefrom the inside.

| Die Konsolen sind inzwei Höhen erhältlich.Wie bei den Schreib-tischen besteht die tra-gende Struktur aus dreiTeilen aus eloxiertemAluminium.(zwei Beine und einePlattenstütze).Die Platten können ausgeätztem Glas, aus leder-bezogenen Melamin-platten oder ausSpanholzplatten mitBirkenholzfurnier beste-hen (die beiden letzterenAusführungen werden ander Struktur befestigt).Die niedrigen Konsolenhaben auch einenunteren Einlegebodenaus geätztem Glas oderBirkenfurnier. DerEinlegeboden wird mithöhenverstellbarenStützen an der Strukturbefestigt.

| Les consoles sont dedeux types, hautes etbasses. Comme lestables, la structure por-tante est formée de troiséléments en aluminiumanodisé naturel (deuxpieds et un support pourle plan). Les plans peu-vent être en verre dépolibordé sur le pourtour,en panneau mélaminérecouvert de cuir ou enaggloméré plaquébouleau (ces deuxderniers sont vissés à lastructure). Les consolesbasses sont égalementdotées d’un planinférieur, en verre dépoliou en bouleau, fixé à lastructure à l’aide de sup-ports réglables.

| Two types of consolesare available: high andlow. The load-bearingframe (as for the tables)comprises three naturalanodised aluminiumelements (two legs anda support for the top).The tops may be in acidetched and boxed glass,in melamine-coatedpanel covered withleather or in particle-board veneered in birchwood (the last two arefixed to the frame byscrews). In the lowconsoles there is alsoa shelf in acid etchedglass or birch wood,which is fixed to theframe with suitableadjustable supports.
