STATEMENT OF CUSTOMER COMMITMENT

Quality AssuranceAll Trico products are manufactured, fabricated and shipped to strict specifications. They are guaranteed to be free from

defects and within industry quality standards.

On Time DeliveryOur record speaks for itself. This is an area of our business that we have dedicated much time and many resources todevelop. All of our customers have come to depend on and demand this service.

Short Lead Time ResponseThis requires inventory, fabrication capabilities, trained order entry and experienced belt technicians. We have a large

and diverse inventory of conveyor, power transmission and specialty service belting. Our modern fabrication facility

houses an experienced and well equipped staff of specialists. We are set up to react quickly to your quick ship orders as

well as any emergency orders.

Engineering, Application AnalysisOur technical expertise is the most important value added service we offer our customers. We can provide valuable

information for a new design consideration or for an existing application. The accuracy of this information is attributable

to our experience, continued training programs, use of computer analysis and support from manufacturing.

PartnershipWe realize this is the most overused term in business today. But for a specialty business like ours, partnership means

strength. Working together makes us collectively stronger than if we worked independently. Unlike other national belting

wholesalers we are selective in our approach to the market place. We choose our partners carefully and remain loyal to

their success. It takes time to develop such trust in business relationships, but we have and it works.

Direct ShipmentsWhen requested, we will ship your order directly to your customer. Our name will not appear on any of the paperwork.

We will ship using your bill of lading and packing list.

Pricing AgreementsThere are situations where you are asked by your customers to hold pricing levels for specific periods of time in exchange

for an anticipated volume of purchases. We offer similar pricing agreements that allow you to effectively pursue this type

of business.

Vulcanized splice delamination or failure 1. Pulley too small — checkrecommended minimum for belt

2. Belt running wrong directions — checkfor manufacturer’s arrow or make sureleading edge of splice contacts pulleyfirst

3. Reverse bend — use thinner belt4. Too much tension for belt — use

heavier construction

Belt does not track properly 1. Pulleys/and or idlers NOT squared2. New belt not “run in” long enough3. Uneven loading — load off center4. Structure not square5. Lacing or splice not square6. Bow in belt

Cleats cracking at base 1. Pulleys too small

Cleat delamination 1. Pulleys too small — check minimumsfor cleat type

2. Return idlers hitting cleats3. Material conveyed affecting bond (oils,

acids, etc.)4. Product overload5. Poor tracking — cleat edges

repeatedly hitting conveyor frame

Flange delamination or cracking 1. Pulley is too small — check minimumfor flange height. Sipe, sipe and drill, ornotch for small pulleys.

V-guide delamination or cracking 1. Pulley too small — notch for smallpulleys

2. Severe misalignment3. Wrong size cross section for pulley

groove

Fastener pullout 1. Wrong size fastener2. Fastener not installed properly3. Obstruction touching splice area4. Poor tracking — splice hitting conveyor

frame

Severe edge wear 1. Pulleys, idlers or structure not square2. Worn pulley lagging3. Offset loading conditions4. Load off center

Excessive belt stretch 1. Too much tension for belt being used— go to a stronger belt

2. Insufficient take-up3. Overtightening of take-up

Excessive belt slip 1. Tighten take-up or pulley2. Lag or replace worn lagging3. Pulleys too small — not enough wrap

— use lighter belt or larger pulley4. Material spillage — lag pulleys and/or

install cleaning devices

Elevator bolt pull-out 1. Bolt not tight —tighten monthly2. Bucket hung up in boot3. Belt tension too low causing elongation

of holes4. Adverse conditions — heat, oil, acids

When a belt involves multiple components (ie. base belt, V-guide, sidewall, flange, lacing, etc.) it is important to consider the minimum pulley dimensions of all components whendetermining an appropriate minimum pulley dimension for the entire conveyor system.

TRACKING PROBLEMSPROBLEM CAUSE SOLUTIONBelt runs off at tail pulley. 1. Material build-up on tail pulley. 1. Install a scraper diagonally across the pulley side of the belt on the return just ahead of the tail pulley.

2. Material build-up on tail snub pulley. 2. Use proper cleaning device and install scraper against snub pulley. Improve housekeeping.3. Counterweight is too light. 3. Recalculate and adjust required counterweight.4. Tail pulley, tail snub pulley, or return 4. Realign. Install limit switches for greater safety.

idlers are out of the line.5. Frozen return idlers. 5. Free idlers. Lubricate. Improve maintenance.6. Improper loading, spillage. 6. Entire belt runs off at all points 1. Idlers may be out of square with the 1. Align idlers.of the line. the centerline of the belt.

2. Belt strained or elongated excessively 2. If belt is new, allow sufficient time for it to “break in”. If belt doesn’t break in properly or it is not a on one side. new belt, cut out strained section squarely and splice in new section.

3. Self-aligning, troughing, or return idlers 3. Adjust or correct idlers.inoperative or placed ineffectively.

4. Material build-up on pulleys and idlers. 4. Install proper cleaning devices and improve maintenance. If condition is severe, consider twisted-runbelt installations, in which return run will be turned over so that idlers and pulleys in return run are incontact with relatively clean bottom cover of belt.

One section of the belt runs off 1. Belt improperly spliced; out of square. 1. Re-splice, making sure that splice is squared with average centerline of belt.at all points. 2. Bowed belt. 2. Avoid storing belt rolls improperly. Avoid telescoping belt rolls. If the belt is new, it will probably

straighten out when properly “broken in”. If belt doesn’t straighten, it must be replaced.3. One edge is damaged and moisture penetration 3. Repair belt edge or cut out badly worn and out-of-square section. Splice in new section.

V-guides can only solve minor run-off tendencies. Minor run-off tendencies have to be expected in installations with a narrow belt width, low speed, low tensioningforce and where no external transverse forces act upon the belt. When these conditions are not present, v-guides are not the recommendation, as they tend to pop outof the groove. An exception is to utilize v-guides for belt tracking with short wide belts.

Crowning one or several pulleys in a system is the most common way to track a belt. Crown specifications for radius crowns and trapezoidal crowns are listed below.

The min. pulley face width Wp = (belt width Wb x 1.1) + 0.5 in.The max. belt width Wb = (pulley face width Wp - 0.5 in) / 1.10

Note: The cylindrical part of the pulley Wc is half of the belt width Wb.Also, it is recommended for the pulley width Wp to be approximately 10 to 20% wider than the belt width Wb for the pulley crown to function properly. For pulley widths less than 8 in., use a radius crown and refer to the flat belt pulley specifications above.

STEP SPLICE BELT For belts with multiple plies. Plies areseparated and “stepped” to interlock withone another at the splice point. Performed byexperts in our fabrication facility for qualityassurance and appropriate curing time.

SKIVED SPLICEDA precision grinding technique isused to achieve uniform thicknessat the splice point for a variety ofapplications.

ENDLESS-PREPAREDWe square and prepare the belt’sends in our fabrication facility forhot or cold cement bonding on thecustomer’s site. Cement bondingkits with usage instructions areavailable.

STITCHEDREINFORCEMENTCertain applications put unusualwear on splices and edges. Theseareas can be strengthened withstitching.

FINGER SPLICEFor thermoplastic, urethane and PVC belts. Avery durable splice that maintains a smooth, highly consistent belt surface right through thesplice area. Multiple finger patterns areavailable to meet a variety of applications andsystem pulley sizes.

MULTIPLE FINGER SPLICEUtilizes more fingers than the standard fingersplice. Fingers are cut from multiple plies, staggered, then fused together by heat andpressure to create an even stronger, moreflexible splicing solution.

LONGITUDINALSPLICINGVery wide belts are created by longitudinallysplicing two or more belts of lesser dimension.Plies are expertly stepped and bonded in ourfabrication facility. The result is a uniformlysmooth belt as wide as the applicationrequires. Ultra-wide belts can be made endlessprior to shipping...or have ends prepared forsplicing in the field. V-guides and otherprofiles can be added as required.

ENDLESS (NON-MECHANICAL) SPLICING SOLUTIONS:Endless splicing methods eliminate the need for hardware fasteners. Excellent for food processing and applications where products need to be handled with greater care.

Diamond top is a proven problem solver for steep inclines and declines. Also a popular choice in package handling as a brake or spacer belt where fantastic grip and extended wear make the difference. Tancompound provides non-marking feature.

One of the more aggressive rough top belts on the market. V-Top can take corrugated packages up inclines as steep as 45˚. For slick plastic tote applications this is a belt worth consideration. #4310 has theadditional feature of providing excellent oil resistance.

Steep Grade’s impression is made of 1/8” oval nubs positioned horizontally on the belt. Very aggressive SBR rubber top cover make this a good choice for those extreme inclines. Gum Steep Grade also providesexcellent non-marking characteristics.

Specialty high friction tops used in difficult inclines, declines or as brake or spacer belts. Can handle paperboard containers and some totes on inclines up to 450˚. Primarily effective in clean, dry environments. This series of belts is made with premium soft durometer PVC covers.

Traditional quad (inverted diamond) pattern makes this monofilament belt a great choice as an alternative to standard rough tops when a less aggressive cover is required. More easily cleaned, this belt ispopular in a wide range of industrial applications. Thermoplastic elastomer allows for easy splicing and fabrication including cleats & v-guides.

Pebbletop impression is used when more traction is called for but a roughtop belt is too much. Popular in wood products and metal stamping. This particular pebbletop is made from high quality, oil resistantRM compound.

Unique impression provides tremendous positive control of packages on inclines and declines. Monofilament construction provides a strong, cross rigid product that is flexible enough to negotiate small pulleys.

V-Runner’s premium PVC top cover utilizes longitudinal grooves to achieve its aggressive grip. Can be easily finger spliced resulting in top quality endless belts. In dirty and dusty conditions, occasional cleaningrestores the gripping action.

All belting specifications listed are correct at the time of publication. As we continually strive to improve our product line these specifications are subject to change withoutnotice. In the heavier PIW ratings, PVC offers reliable performance in applications such as bulk handling, heavy stamping, scrap, wood products, sand & gravel and vertical elevators. Like the medium duty PVC beltsthese products are the most economical choice in the widest range of applications. All of the elevator series (250 PIW - 450 PIW) are produced with an extra oil and cold resistant compound.

This series of PVC impression tops are very sturdy and aggressive incline belts used in agricultural applications as well as chemical, fertilizer and industrial applications. The impression is deep enough to increaseload capacity up inclines but designed in shapes that allow the belt to run smoothly on the conveyor return rollers.

All belting specifications listed are correct at the time of publication. As we continually strive to improve our product line these specifications are subject to change withoutnotice. NOTE: The product you purchase may differ slightly from the sample shown in this book as production variances may occur. All standard NIBA tolerances apply.
