Quando iniziammo il nostro percorso, nel 1988, non avremmo immaginato di spingerci così lontano. La nostra è una terra di arte antica, custode di sapienti tecniche artigiane, tramandate da tempo immemore. Una terra dove il mosaico non si traduce in semplice decoro architettonico, ma diventa vero e proprio strumento capace di trasmettere un’emozione profonda. Con umiltà abbiamo ripercorso quel cammino; con quell’ispirazione, lo abbiamo reinterpretato. Ma in chiave contemporanea e innovativa. Così come l’arte genera l’arte, le nostre superfici decorate si sono trasformate in icone portatrici di segni e linguaggi del nostro tempo.

Armati della nostra lunga esperienza, gratificati dai grandi successi riscossi in tutto il mondo, abbiamo dato vita ad un nuovo fermento artistico: Sicis Next Art, l’arte prossima ad accadere, l’evoluzione, il continuo divenire. È la sfida che continua e che va oltre il decoro architettonico, presupposto essenziale e cardine fecondo della nostra attività.Quando le mani del maestro di mosaico toccano quelle dell’artista in unione simbiotica, ecco che prende vita un’opera nuova e diversa. Le vibrazioni che le mille sfaccettature del mosaico sanno aggiungere in termini di luce, impatto materico e tridimensionalità, diventano veste sofisticata. Come pennellate di riverberi colorati, le tessere si fanno sigillo, attestazione. Quasi a suggellare la grandezza dell’opera-scultura, la cui anima scaturisce dalla forma e si appropria dello spazio.

Quelle che ammirerete in questo catalogo appartengono alla nostra prima collezione, vanto esclusivo e degno inizio di un percorso lungo a venire. Sono sedie, poltrone, divanetti (sembra quasi riduttivo confinarle a parole quotidiane), oggetti che trascendono il classico design e sfidano lo sterile minimalismo.Un tocco poetico, una nuance di follia. E la stanza prende nuova vita. Le sedute in velluto di pregiata seta, anch’esso eredità di artigianato antico, gli schienali decorati in mosaico. Surreali, metafisici: si lanciano verso l’alto e diventano trono sontuoso, tra schegge di colori che inventano rêverie e girotondi di brividi.

L’estro dell’artista, la sontuosità dei tessuti pregiati, il tocco magico del mosaico, che va a posarsi sullo schienale.

La sedia come intimo viaggio, dal nucleo della casa verso mete lontane. Come un tappeto volante che si libra leggero. Un cuore, una foglia, un fiore, si aprono maestosi ad accoglierti dentro di loro.Carnali eppure bizzarramente infantili, sontuosi ma riposti e segreti.Un vezzo meraviglioso: i brividi del velluto, il guizzo della seta, per rivivere nei colori del mosaico, tra fraseggi cromatici, che disperdono bagliori e poi raccolgono luci improvvise. Dove il sentimento si aggiunge allo stupore, e l’arte non si pone alla fine dei tempi ma alla loro origine, dentro un mosaico.

When we began our route back in 1988, we never imagined it would have taken us so far. Ours is a land of ancient art, the custodian of knowledgeable artisan techniques, handed down since times far back beyond our memory. A land where the mosaic is not a simple architectonic decoration, but becomes a real instrument, able to convey profound emotion. We have humbly gone back over that route. We have re-interpreted it with that inspiration. But in a contemporary, innovative key. As art generates art, our decorated surfaces have become icons bearing the signs and languages of our times.

Armed with our lengthy experience, gratified by the great successes enjoyed the world over, we have given rise to a new artistic ferment: Sicis Next Art, the art that is about to happen, the evolution, the continuous future. It is the challenge that continues and that goes beyond architectonic decor, the essential, key pre-requisite underlying our work.When the hands of the mosaic maestro touch those of the artist in a symbiotic union, here we see a new, different work coming to life. The vibrations that the thousand faces of the mosaic can add in terms of light, material impact and three-dimensionality become a sophisticated ‘dress’. Like colourfully vibrant brushstrokes, the tesserae become a seal, a statement. Almost as though confirming the greatness of the work-sculpture, whose soul is unleashed by the form, taking over the space provided.

What you can admire in this catalogue feature in our first collection, the exclusive, worthy, proud start to a long path ahead. They are chairs, armchairs, small sofas (though using these day-to-day words really does not render the idea). They are objects that transcend classic design and challenge sterile minimalism.A poetic touch, a nuance of folly. And the room comes back to life. Velvet, precious silk seats, again the heritage of ancient artisans, the backrests decorated in mosaics. Surreal, metaphysical: they launch upwards, becoming a sumptuous throne, amidst shards of colour that invent reverie and circles of excitement.

The artist’s whimsical flair, the sumptuous nature of the valuable fabrics and the magical touch of the mosaic that alights on the backrest.

The chair as an intimate journey, from the nucleus of the home toward far-off destinations. Like a light, free, flying carpet. A heart, a leaf, a flower, opening up majestic to welcome you in.Carnal, yet bizarrely infantile, sumptuous but rested and secret.A wonderful charm: the excitement of velvet, the flicker of silk, to re-live in the colours of the mosaic, amidst chromatic phrasing, that disperses glare and then collects together sudden lights. Where sentiment joints amazement and art does not appear at the end to times, but rather at their origin, in a mosaic.

Any item is a single artwork created by our mosaic maestros through a careful and minute craft made technique. Any possible imperfections, flaws, discordances in color and/or shape are inborn in a handmade article and, therefore, give the object its own uniqueness.
