Any region, province, canton, county, land from a countrywithin the European Region of WHO

As long as it • is a political or administrative unit in a country• has decision making power• has resources for investment for health • has capacity to create and develop partnerships for health• is able to monitor health status• commits itself to the purpose and objectives of the RHN

In line with Health21, thriving for health at regionallevel through:

• support for health policy development

• opportunities to solve problems with others

• easy access to examples of best practice

OBIETTIVI DEL NETWORK:OBIETTIVI DEL NETWORK:• Portare le Regioni europee ad attuare, in tema di salute pubblica, delle politiche che siano in linea con la strategia dell'Organizzazione Mondiale della Sanità denominata "Salute per tutti";• stimolare le singole Regioni europee ad operare secondo i principi di equità, qualità dei servizi, efficacia ed efficienza degli interventi di sanità pubblica;• favorire i programmi intersettoriali sulla salute, sia per i livelli regionali che locali.

• The process of political decentralization in Europe from the national level to the regions moves simultaneously with the important enlargement of the European Union.

• Twenty-five per cent of European countries have a population of less than 5 million inhabitants which corresponds to many of the average sized European regions.

• Cross European cooperation is no longer an isolated experience among political entities, both at national and regional levels, but becomes a necessity for the future of Europe.

• The cross border experiences of the Regions in the health sector is anticipating the future method of collaboration between European States.
