Lo Zodiaco è la zona della sfera celeste com-presa tra i due cerchi paralleli all’eclittica,cioè l’orbita che la Terra percorre nel suomoto di rivoluzione intorno al Sole. Lo Zo-diaco è diviso in dodici parti, a ciascuna dellequali corrisponde un simbolo. Dall’osserva-zione degli astri, che risale ai primordi del-la civiltà, nacquero l’astronomia e l’astro-logia, scienze strettamente correlate. Gliastronomi studiavano la posizione degliastri, cercavano di calcolarne le distanze traloro e dal pianeta Terra, mentre gli astrolo-gi tentavano di scoprire quali influenze lestelle e i pianeti esercitassero sugli uomini.Ogni costellazione è dominata da un pia-neta che vi esercita un influsso magneticoper induzione solare. La forza dei raggi delSole influisce sui pianeti come una corren-te elettrica agisce su un buon conduttoredi elettricità.La luce solare, incontrando icorpi celesti, si rifrange e fornisce loro unacarica che ne aumenta l’energia. I pianetipotenziano così la loro energia radiante in-fluenzando anche la vita sulla Terra. Tuttele forme della natura vivono in armonia coni corpi celesti e ne subiscono le influenzeplanetarie: dal mondo animale, vegetale eminerale all’uomo, al quale conferisconoparticolari caratteristiche fisiche e psichi-che. The power of the rays ofsunlight, affects the planets as an electriccurrent influences a good conductor of elec-tricity. When the sunlight meets the heav-enly bodies, it is refracted and it furnishesthem with a charge that increases their en-ergy. Thus, the planets develop a radiantenergy which in turn influences life onEarth. Nel Rinascimento lo svizzero Paracelso(1493-1541), considerato da alcuni il pa-dre dell’omeopatia, studiò le analogie tral’universo e le parti del corpo umano, so-stenendo che per curare un malato il me-dico dovesse prima conoscerne l’orosco-po. Non solo, ma anche per somministrarele medicine bisognava considerare le in-fluenze astrali. “ Prendi nota di questo: ache serve la tua cura per l’utero, se nonsei guidato da Venere? A che gioverà latua cura per il cervello se non sei guidatodalla Luna? “. Nel 1437, all’università diParigi un consesso di medici discusse leregole astrologiche per scegliere il momen-to più indicato per praticare un salasso:l’ora in cui il segno ascendente del pazientesi trovava in corrispondenza con la Lunaera il momento più adatto. L’inglese Ro-bert Burton (1576-1640) redasse addirit-tura una classificazione delle malattiementali a cui sono esposti i vari segni. Dalsuo trattato Anatomia della melanconia siapprende che la megalomania è tipica delLeone e che la depressione colpisce in pre-valenza il Cancro.L’ antichissima dottrina dei quattro elementinaturali classifica i dodici segni in quattrogruppi, secondo le caratteristiche, sia fisi-che che psicologiche, di ciascun elemento.I quattro elementi si rifanno anche ai quat-tro stati della natura (caldo, freddo, secco,umido) e a quattro temperamenti fisico-spirituali dell’individuo (bilioso, nervoso,sanguigno, linfatico).
