GENERAL DESCRIPTIONThe SUPPORTING STRUCTURE consists of a trailer, approved forroad use, onto which a frame with four telescopic stabilisers isfitted and, only for the compact version, a rectangular extension,supported by two additional feet.The pole, which is fixed to the frame, consists of cylindricalsections and is anchored to the support feet by means of two orthree sets of guys.The structure, complete with ballast weights and working platformin metal grating, can be converted into a permanent station simplyby replacing the end part of the four stabilisers.

The CLIMBING LADDERSare of the type with ‘T’ rail safety climbsystem, with top and bottom stops, complete with intermediatetiltable footrest every 8-9 m.An anti-climb device is supplied to prevent access by unauthorizedpersons.

The VERTICAL CABLE TRAY consists of suitably shaped,L-section members, bolted to the pole sections at 500/1000 mmintervals and positioned next to the climbing ladder down thewhole length of the pole.This system ensures excellent fixing of the cables and feeders.

The GROUNDING PROTECTION consists of a set of copper-plated ground plates, connected to each other, and a copperconductor running down the side of the pole.In addition, special busbars are supplied for connection togrounding kits (art. KTF…...). The system ensures equipotentialityof the structure.

The AIRCRAFT WARNING LIGHT SYSTEMS both conform toICAO or FAA Standards.For day-time warning, the top third of the pole is painted red and

white. The night-time warning system comprises a signalling unitwith steady or flashing red beacons.

The ANTENNA MOUNTS , in hot-dip galvanized steel, consists of a3.0 m high pipe mount complete with brackets (art. TAPB ….) for3 panel antennas.The above poles can also, on request, be fitted with universalpipe brackets for dish antennas (art. TAMA ....).

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONSDESIGN AND STANDARDSDesign follows the most modern measuring criteria, with the aid of advanced software systems.Structural analysis, static and dynamic tests conform to the most

recent United States (EIA 222) and Italian (CNR-UNI) Standards.Tests to other International Standards (EURONORM, BS, NV65,etc.) can be carried out on request.

WIND LOADSThe radio base station with flanged pole can withstand a maximumequivalent surface area of antennas of 1.8 m 2 at the top,corresponding to 3 panel antennas (H = 2 m) and 2 dish antennas(Ø 60 cm).Tests are in accordance with the requirements of Standards EIA222: basic wind speed equivalent to 100 mph (160 km/h).The structures are also tested in accordance with Italian Standardsfor the various wind zones specified in D.M. (Ministerial Decree) of 16/01/96, with the operating limits indicated in the installation,use and maintenance manual.

TWIST & SWAYMaximum twist and sway at the top of the flanged pole, with aconstant wind speed of 100 km/h, is less than 50'.

GALVANIZATIONAll materials are protected by hot-dip galvanizing, in accordancewith ASTM A123 and Euronorm EN 1461 Standards.

STANDARD VERSIONThe mobile station with flanged pole is available in two different

versions, having the following characteristics:

• version A – ‘ultra compact’This version is for use in locations where space is very limitedand where the equipment can be contained in cabinets orinside a mini-shelter.Dimensions:- maximum height from ground = 26.0 m- plan dimensions = 5.1 x 5.1 m (in working position)- weight of mobile station, excluding ballast = 4900 kgweight of ballast = 6300 kg.

• version B – ‘compact’This version is the best solution for replacing a fixed stationsince it can reach greater heights and allows equipment to be

GENERAL DESCRIPTIONThe two-axle TRAILERfor transporting the equipment consists of a supporting frame with a flatbed, made up of tubular componentsand electro-welded sheet metal; the whole assembly is hot-dipgalvanized.It is equipped with:• automatic reverse• parking brake with pushbutton release• lighting equipment with rear lights conforming to the latest

EEC directives• independent suspension on each of the four wheels, with

torsion bar.The trailer is approved for a total load of 3500 kg.

The pole SUPPORTING STRUCTURE consists of tubularsections, sized to withstand the loads generated by wind actingon the pole.This structure, which is fixed to the trailer, is fitted with fourtelescopic stabiliser feet which are extended when the pole isinstalled.The guys and ballast weights are secured to the ends of thesefeet. The entire frame is made of steel, protected by hot-dipgalvanizing.

The TELESCOPIC ALUMINIUM POLE comprises three tubularsections which slide into each other. Installation can be carriedout simply by using the manual winches supplied with thestation. These winches are used both to raise the pole from thehorizontal to the vertical position and to extend the individualsegments to their maximum height.

The UPGRADE KIT enables the mobile station to be convertedinto a fixed station because all the structural parts have beensized to withstand the design loads of a permanent station.The kit consists of four components designed to replace theadjusting screws on the structure feet.

These supports are buried in a single block of concrete in orderto secure the station to the ground.

GENERAL DESCRIPTIONThe SUPPORTING STRUCTURE consists of a base onto whichis mounted a self mounting square section lattice tower, whichcan pivot from the horizontal rest position to the verticalposition and then be fully extended.A rotating support, to which the antenna pipe mount issecured, is fitted at the top of the tower.All versions are equipped with attachment points for guys andwith four reinforcing struts.The structure of the mobile lattice tower is made entirely of steel, protected by hot-dip galvanizing.The tower bears the CE mark, indicating conformity with

Directive 89/392/EEC and subsequent modifications.

The VERTICAL CABLE TRAYis made of Ø 20 mm galvanizedrungs (art. FPZ......) which are fitted to the tower during thelifting phase, at 500 mm intervals.This system firmly secures the cables and feeders.

GENERAL DESCRIPTIONThe SEMI-TRAILER consists of a supporting frame with steellongitudinal and cross members and a working platform incheckered plate. It is equipped with:• axles with 15'' wheels and pneumatic shock absorbers• braking system conforming to European Standards• 24 V electrical system, electrical and compressed air

connectors• independent and adjustable parking stands.

The square section SELF MOUNTING LATTICE TOWER can beraised from the horizontal rest position to the vertical position

and then extended to its full height. At the top of the towerthere is a swivelling bracket to which the antenna mount isfixed. All versions are equipped with attachment points for theguys and with four reinforcing struts.The entire structure of the mobile tower is in steel, protectedby hot-dip galvanizing.

The VERTICAL CABLE TRAYconsists of Ø 20 mm rungs ingalvanized steel (art. FPZ......) that are secured to the toweruprights during the lifting phase at intervals of approx. 500 mm.This system firmly secures the cables and feeders to protectthem from damage due to vibration and distortion.

The SHELTER consists of a steel frame and aluminium sheets. Itis supplied complete with:• main electrical panel and control panel• power station with battery rack• lighting equipment• air conditioning system.

The ANTENNA MOUNTS , in hot-dip galvanized steel, aredesigned for different radiating systems.Two different types of antenna pipe mounts can be mounted on

the tower:• 3.5 m high pole complete with brackets (art. TAPB ….) for 3

panel antennas• 6.0 m high pole complete with brackets (art. TAPB ….) for 3

panel antennas.The above pipe mounts can also, on request, be fitted withuniversal pipe brackets for dish antennas (art. TAMA ....).

The AIRCRAFT WARNING LIGHT SYSTEMS both conform toICAO or FAA Standards.For day-time warning, the top third of the tower is painted redand white. The night-time warning system comprises a signallingunit with steady or flashing red beacons.

The GROUNDING PROTECTION consists of a set of copper-plated ground plates, connected to each other and a copperconductor running down the side of the tower.In addition, suitable busbars are supplied for connection to thegrounding kits (art. KTF......).

DESIGN AND STANDARDSDesign follows the most modern measuring criteria, with the aid

of advanced software systems. The structural analysis and statictests conform to the most recent European (Eurocodes 1 and3) and Italian Standards (CNR-UNI).Tests to other International Standards (EURONORM, BS,NV65, etc.) can be carried out on request.

WIND LOADSThe mobile station with self mounting tower can withstand amaximum equivalent surface area of antennas of 1.8 m 2 at thetop.Tests are in accordance with Eurocode requirements (Wind

speed = 150 km/h).The structures are also tested in accordance with ItalianStandards for the various wind zones specified in D.M.(Ministerial Decree) of 16/01/96 with the operating limitsindicated in the installation, use and maintenance manual.

TWIST & SWAYThe maximum twist at the top of the tower, with a constant windspeed of 100 km/h is less than 1°.

MATERIALSThe materials comply with the requirements of EuropeanStandards (Euronorm).Structural parts: S235JR (Fe 360 B) EN 10025Nuts and bolts: type 6.8. EN 20898-1

Semi-trailer mobile stations with self-mounting telescopic towers are antenna supporting structures which allow fast

and easy installation and are used mostly for temporary radio base stations and for emergency networks. They are

available in two different heights, according to the required antenna loads.

SUPPORTING MAINFRAME

The shelter basically consists of a supporting mainframe madeof hot extruded sections in aluminium alloy EN AW-6060 UNIEN 573-3/96, which contains and encapsulates the external

cladding in order to obtain a monolithic body aftermanufacturing is completed.

THERMAL INSULATION

The thermal insulation of the shelter is ensured bypolyurethane foam panels, thickness 60/80 mm (density40 Kg/m 3).The value of the global heat transfer coefficient is approx.0.5 W/m 2K.

EXTERNAL - INTERNAL LINING

The external-internal lining of the walls is made of paintedmetal sheets.The floor covering is made of self-extinguishing PVC.

ACCESS DOOR

The access door is built with a frame made of aluminium.Standard dimensions of the door opening are:- height 2000 mm- width 900 mmThe door is equipped with non-detachable stainless steelhinges and with a lock fitted with an anti-panic device.

EQUIPMENT ROOM

The equipment room is equipped with:• integrated board with ac power distribution and dc power

system• batteries• air conditioning system• alarm system• grounding system• fire extinguishing system• accessories.

GROUNDING SYSTEMShelters are equipotential and therefore all panels areelectrically connected to each other and to the mainframe by acopper strip and copper plate as connection.

SOCKETS - LIGHTING and POWER SOCKETS

Internal lighting is obtained by means of an emergency roof lamp with fluorescent bulb, fitted to the ceiling.A 10/16 ac UNEL socket outlet is fitted on the shelter wall.

MAINS POWER DISTRIBUTION BOARD

The distribution board is designed for supply and control of thevarious services installed. Particularly:• protection and distribution of ac circuits• supply of 48 V dc by means of rectifiers• back-up system with batteries• monitoring, control and management of the whole system• supervision and signalling of alarm situations.

The boards will be equipped with 34 A/48 V dc (n+1configuration) rectifiers and two batteries and have thefollowing main electrical characteristics:

AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM

The air conditioning system is composed of compact conditioningunits with free cooling function.

The standard power supply required by these units is 230 V ac,single-phase+Neutral, 50 Hz or 400 V ac, 3-phase+Neutral, 50 Hz.The dc free-cooling function is integrated in the air conditioning

unit, therefore when the mains power fails, the operation of theinternal dc fans is guaranteed by 48 V dc supplied by the batteryset.

FIRE EXTINGUISHING SYSTEM

An optical smoke detector is installed in the shelter together witha 5 kg CO 2 manual fire extinguisher positioned near the accessdoor.

ALARM SYSTEM

In the power distribution board the following dry contact alarmsare available: open door, max. indoor temperature, mains failure,air conditioning unit failure, smoke alarm, power system failure,battery failure.

The electrical control panel is protected by an IP65, double-insulated polyester enclosure with a solid door and triangle lock.The enclosure contains the mains/generator changeover switch, a4-pole thermal-magnetic residual current main circuit-breaker,four thermal-magnetic circuit-breakers for services and a powersocket. On the outside of the enclosure there is a 32 A, 3-pole,EEC type plug with earth and neutral, for connection to thegenerator. The overall dimensions of the control panel areapproximately 515x650x250 mm.calzavara can supply control panels specially designed for specificrequirements.

The generating set consists of a diesel-powered motor and a3-phase (400 V - 50Hz), synchronous, brushless alternator, withinsulation class H and IP23 mechanical protection. All theequipment is fixed to a base-plate which carries both the motorand the generator, directly connected by means of a coupling andcomplete with vibration insulator. The fuel tank is fixed to thebase-plate and has a capacity suitable for providingapproximately 24 hours' operation.The generating set is supplied complete with an electrical controlpanel and 4-pole circuit-breaker with thermal-magnetic protection.All the equipment is enclosed in a galvanized steel, sound-proof painted container.It is available in two versions:

ADDITIONAL PARTS FOR MOBILE STATIONS


art. MUPG .... upgrade for permanent stations

The mobile station can be converted into a fixed radio base stationby modifying the arrangement of the support feet and ballastweights. Conversion is possible with a few easy steps:

1. Excavate the ground in the area under the ballast weights(which do not touch the ground) to a depth of 30-40 cm.

2. Cast concrete into the excavation to fill the area between theballast weights and the ground, after having inserted thespecial steel bars.

3. Once casting has been completed and when the concrete hasreached a suitable strength, ‘release’ the support feet byslackening the adjusting screws (the station will rest entirely onthe ballast weights and on the cast concrete base beneaththem).

4. Remove the adjusting screws with the flanges and supportplates.

5. Dig a hole under each foot.

6. Insert the extensions fitted with metal clamps in place of theadjusting screws.

7. Pour concrete into the holes to encase the extensions fittedonto the feet.

Once these operations have been completed, the station becomesfixed and the cast concrete constitutes the foundation.The size of the four concrete blocks to be cast round the feet mustbe calculated for each individual case, taking into account thecharacteristics of the ground.The conversion kit includes the 4 extensions for the support feetand all necessary hardware. On request, calzavara can also supplythe design for the foundation blocks.
