Ø contacted the national electrical power supply companies

Ø activated:

the regional health service

the local civil protection system

the national transportation and communication companies

Ø checked the monitoring systems operabilityAt 4:30 am the National Operational Committee was convened at the Department of CivilProtection to co-ordinate relief interventionsThe Head of the Department of civil protection was in charge of the national interventions coordination (Law 286/02 art.3)In order to compensate the lack of TV information:

ü national and local radio stations were broadcasting regular information bulletinsü civil protection SMS text messages were sent to thousands of people advising
