PROVE DI FUNZIONE RESPIRATORIA
Non ci dobbiamo aspettare miglioramenti
della spirometria o della emogasanalisi da un
PRP eseguito in un paziente che sta
praticando la terapia medica in modo
ottimizzato

MRC scaleFive statements about perceived breathlessness:
1. I only get breathless with strenuous exercise2. I get short of breath when hurrying on the
level or up slight hill3. I walk slower than people of the same age on
the level because of breathlessness or have tostop for breath when walking at my own pace on the level
4. I stop for breath after walking 100 yards or after a few minutes on the level
5. I am too breathless to leave the house

• 28% of patients with COPD presented desaturation during 6-MWT and not during CPET.
• The phenomenon was reproducible and not protocol dependent, emphasizing the clinical interest of the 6MWT.

MISURE COMPLEMENTARI
• Utilizzo delle risorse sanitarie
• Sopravvivenza
Conclusion: In patients with CAO, an outpatient PRP can achieve benefits in HRQL and a decreased number of hospitalizations, which persist for a period of 2 years. Successive, yearly interventions lead to similar short-termgains but do not result in additive long-term physiologicbenefits. Further reduction in yearly exacerbations seemsto be the main benefit of an additional PRP.
ECONOMICS: use of health resources
