BELGIO   CBB04 Domaine provincial de Chevetogne, Chevetogne 08/07/2011 –22/07/2011 MANU‐ENVI‐TEEN 12 VOLS 15‐17 y.o.  PREPARATION DAYS (Obligatory and free)! Location: Marche‐en‐Famenne Dates: From Friday 8th to Saturday 9th of July Purpose: To gather all the volunteers and camp leaders who participate in projects that start on the same date. This is also the official welcome session offered by the CBB team. On Saturday, all the volunteers will leave for their own workcamp place. The project: Domaine provincial de Chevetogne is a big centre for environmental education and social tourism. Pupils from primary and secondary schools come there to participate in activities that focus on discovering the nature and rural way of life. During the summer, many kids and families make a one‐day excursion to the Domain or stay there for holidays. The philosophy of the place could be summed up in one sentence: ʺwhen one learns to respect the biodiversity in the nature, one also learns to respect the human diversityʺ. Workers from Le Domaine de Chevetogne hope to share their passion for the environment with international volunteers. Work: Volunteers will assist in the construction of a shelter to observe the local birds: they will clean the surroundings. They may perhaps see young fawn released. ATTENTION: work might be sometimes long and difficult. Volunteers will spend the whole day outdoor. Accommodation & Food: In a cottage with two dormitories, beds, kitchen and bathroom with hot shower. Breakfast will be provided in the cottage and lunch as an outside picnic. Volunteers can decide whether they prefer to prepare their evening meals in the cottage or to eat in the restaurant of the Domain. Volunteers must notify beforehand about specific diet – vegetarian or muslim if any. Location: Domaine de Chevetogne is located in deep countryside. By choosing this workcamp, the volunteer decides to live in the nature. All around, there are fields, woods and small villages. Wild animals (deer, foxes or wild pigs) are very close. As the domain is also a tourist centre, there are plenty of opportunities for entertainment: outdoor swimming pool, football fields, minigolf, and tennis or basketball playgrounds… During the weekend, it will be possible to organise cultural visits and to travel to the biggest Belgian cities. The town of Ciney is 10 kilometres away from the Domain of Chevetogne. From there, it is very easy to reach bigger urban centres such as Namur (25 km), Brussels (90 km) or Liège (90 km). Specific information: There will be no Internet access during the camp. Please take working clothes with you and shoes – boots are just perfect. Check if you have something suitable for a wet weather. Fee: 150 € of participation fees; leisure time activities are covered. Camp languages: English and French.  

CBB07 Domaine de Mozet, Mozet 6/08/2011 – 20/08/2011 TEEN‐MANU‐ENVI 12 VOLS 15‐17 y.o.  PREPARATION DAYS (Obligatory and free)! Location: Marche‐en‐Famenne Dates: From Saturday 6th to Sunday 7th of August Purpose: To gather all the volunteers and camp leaders who participate in projects that start on the same date. This is also the official welcome session offered by the CBB team. On Sunday, all the volunteers will leave for their own workcamp place. The project: The Domain of Mozet is a meeting and lodging centre, where any kind of group is welcome. Besides, thanks to its features it fits for youth groups: youth movements, schools, theatre or sports groups. The domain works on an active ecocivism management. It is based on ecology and good citizenship while coping with different aspects of the environment. All of us should be aware of the place we occupy in the biosphere and accept our responsibilities concerning the present and future community. To enter in a sustainable world also means to transform this knowledge into respectful behaviour towards the environment. Work: This year, volunteers will mainly help with the maintenance of the park. The work will for example consist of cleaning paths from bushes and cutting off branches and also arrange the edges of a pond. Accommodation & Food:  Housing inside the castle. Lunch & diner will be provided for volunteers.  Location: Situated on the southern slope of a charming valley, in a landscape filled with meadows and groves, Mozet is a characteristic example of the architecture in the Condroz area. The old village centre is dominated by the Saint‐Lambert’s church, built in a classical style and rebuilt in blue stone in 1775. The grey limestone and the black tints of the slates dominate the entire village, which confers it an undeniable charm.  Specific Information: Volunteers are asked to take working clothes as well as shoes, boots will be perfect. Think as well to bring rainy clothes in case of wet weather. Meeting point: Marche‐en‐Famenne train station, on Saturday 6th August between 4.30 and 5.30 pm. Volunteers will go to Mozet together on Sunday. Fees: 150 € of participation fees; leisure time activities are covered. Camp language:  English and French.     

   

ESTONIA   

EST T2    KOPU         VILJANDI         04.07 ‐ 17.07            MANU         6 int + 15 locals  AGE 15‐17  Project Kopu village is a centre of Community of Kopu, one of the smallest in Estonia with total population of around one thousand people. International workcamps have been taken place there since 2001. During past summers volunteers helped to build sport facilities for local school, cleaned up the school park, and did some renovation jobs at the old graveyard. Besides practical help, the volunteers made a significant impact on community life bringing new dynamics, intercultural exchange and international contacts to local youth. Being inspired by the years of international volunteering experience Kopu Community authorities continue hosting international camps and invite international volunteers this summer again. This year international camp is combined with the national teenage work & leisure camp taking place in Kopu at the same time. Work Kopu School occupies old German manor house and it is surrounded by the large park. There will be various jobs in the school park and around the school building. The work is mainly clearing and tidying up of the park as well as other objects of local importance of the community. One of possible jobs is preparing woods for the school heating in winter period. Work will be mostly outdoors. Volunteers will be working along side with local youngsters of the national camp. The work will last only 4 hours a day from 9 to till lunch. After lunch there will be various activities together with local youngsters and free time for the group own activities. The main age of local young people is 13‐18. Accommodation: In the Kopu school sport facilities. Vounteers will sleep on the mattresses. Mattresses are provided, but please bring your sleeping bags. Pillows, linnens, towels will be provided. Toilets and showers are available. Meals will be prepared by kitchen staff and served in the school cantine 3 times a day. Location Kopu village lies about 20 km to the west from Viljandi, an administrative centre of the county with population of 22 000 people. Distance from Tallinn is 180 km. The area is very beautiful ‐ hilly with many small lakes and rivers and a lot of forest with wild nature. Here begins Soomaa National Park – a very popular place for hikes and canoe trips.  Terminal Airport, harbor, bus & train stations in Tallinn; bus to Viljandi; local bus to Kopu. Special requirements No special skills are needed. Tools for the work will be provided. Please bring sleeping bag, working clothes and gloves. English and Estonian are the camp languages. It is important that the volunteers follow the rules and schedules of the national camp (e.g. they have to be back at accommodation by 21:00, from 23:00 is a repose, etc).  The age of participants is 15‐17. Leisure time Sport activities at accommodation site, competitions, swimming, barbeque, hiking and canoeing in Soomaa National Park, biking in the area, visits to the places of interest in the area. In addition to the official programme, trip to Viljandi, the capital of County, visit to Tartu ‐ second largest city in Estonia and the University centre, or to Parnu, lively spa town on the sea side can be done by 

volunteers in their free time. Participation fee Due to difficult economic situation this year and the lack of financial support for the project from local community the participation fee of 120 Euro is requested from volunteers to cover the costs of board, leisure time activities as well as administrative and pedagogical costs. This fee is different from sending organisation fee paid at home, and it has to be paid by volunteers on arrival to the camp.   EST T3      VOLUNTEERING & SPORT I   NOVA     07.07 ‐ 18.07    TEEN/ ENVI/ STUDY   20 int + 20 loc EST T4      VOLUNTEERING & SPORT II  NOVA     17.07 ‐ 28.07    TEEN/ ENVI/ STUDY   20 int + 20 loc  EST T6      VOLUNTEERING & SPORT II  NOVA     27.07 ‐ 07.08    TEEN/ ENVI/ STUDY   20 int + 20 loc  EST T7      VOLUNTEERING & SPORTIV  NOVA     06.07 ‐ 17.08    TEEN/ ENVI/ STUDY   20 int + 20 loc   Project This camp is organized for teenagers by youth sport club Lukas‐Basket which has been running national youth camps for 12 years. This year they will host international teenage camps on the seaside in the West of Estonia in Laanemaa County in the municipality of Nova. Beautiful nature, numerous historical places, nealy 200 year long tradition of a health resort and unique cultural events are the treasures of the County. Nova with warm sea, white sand, wild mushroom and berry crops, several lakes, cobble stone road and many places of interest is ideal place for leisure. The aims of Nova camp is to give young people possibility to have active, healthy and meaningful summer vacations with different sport adventures, to enjoy unspoiled nature and to learn how to live in harmony with it, also to explore and realize own capacities. The program will include water activities, ball and sport games, eco‐hiking, bicycle trips to places of interest, fishing, etc. “NO” to passive life, “YES” to active, healthy life – this is the message of the camp! Besides, camp gives possibility for intensive contacts between local youth and their peers from abroad, showing youngsters the diversity of world cultures, broadening their horizons and encouraging active communication through games and activities. Finally, besides adventure and sport, there will be some voluntary work for nature protection in the camp. The area of the camp is about 3 hectares and it can host about 40 youngsters on one shift. The age of local participants is 13‐20. Local teenagers are mainly Russian‐speaking of minority communities of Estonia.  Program In the programme there are diverse activities: windsurfing, rowing, paintball in the forest, sport games ‐ football, rugby, volleyball, athletics, eco‐hiking, bicycle trips in the area, waterskiing, net fishing, table tennis, different competitions, visit to house farm and horse riding, visit to Padise monastery, picnic in the Perakula on the seaside, going with ATV on some forest trails, sport orientation, visit to Roosta Adventure Park etc. In addition you can see and try yourself how Estonian people made traditional capets, have excursion to Haapsalu to see historical Episcopal Castle and visit to the experimental laboratory introducing the medieval alchemy and medicine. It all be done togethers with local youth and under supervisoon of experienced instructors. Work There will be also some work such as making fodder boxes for wild animals, cleaning local beach and old seaport from garbage. The work will be organised in the cooperation with local forestry 

department and local authorities. Accommodation In the military and tourist tents near to local school (50m) on the seaside. Sleeping bag and mat are needed. All facilities, like showers, toilets are provided in the school. There is possibility to try Estonian sauna. Food will be prepared by professional cook in the school and camp´s kitchen Location Nova is one of 11 municipalities of Laanemaa with about 400 inhabitants, located on the seaside 80 km west from capital of Estonia Tallinn and 40 km north from Haapsalu, famous spa town with many histoirical and cultural sites.   Terminal Airport, bus station, harbor in Tallinn; arranged bus to Nova. Pick up upon arrival to Tallinn is possible at additional fee of 20 Euro. Special requirements Participants have to be sporty and a good physical shape. Please inform us beforehand about allergies or dietary requirements you have. The main age of participants is 14‐20, but exceptions are quite possible. Smoking, drinking alcohol, using drugs is absolutely prohibited in the camp. Camp languages are English and Russian. Participation fee Unlike the “normal” camp there will be not so much traditional work. Nevertheless participants will be provided with board, lodging, local transportation and all equipment necessary to realize camp program. Obviously, program involves extra costs for excursions, trips out, visits, sport activities and general administration. Since neither EstYES nor its local camp partner, does not receive sufficient financial support for this camp from municipality or private sources, to realize this camp we have to charge participation fee of 250 Euro, which has to be paid by participants upon arrival to the camp.   EST T5   WHV DOWN TOWN   TALLINN     25.07‐ 07.08    TEEN/ STUDY     15 int + 25 local Project International language camp is organized for teenagers by non‐profit educational association “Alternative Language Programs Satellite” within its annual activities on multicultural issues. The project’s aim is to introduce the diversity of world cultures to the youth and provide them with good practices in intercultural communication by means of alternative English language practice which includes meetings, visits, direct contact to young people from abroad. The project gets 14 to 17 years old teens familiar with national traditions of the countries from all over the world, encourages them to develop their global thinking and individual initiative, tolerance and resistance to xenophobia and ethnic hatred. At the same time camp gives foreign participants a great chance to meet youngsters of Estonia and experience local life staying in the host families. NB! This year the traditional project became the World Heritage Project with the aim to raise the awareness among the local community, especially young people, and visitors of Tallinn about the importance of the protection preservation and valuing the historical and cultural heritage.  Program Camp program includes sightseeing in Estonian capital, visits to museums, meetings with organizations, games, discussions, presentations of the countries participants represent, team projects etc. Besides, there will be some practical work such as cleaning of some areas in the Old Town of Tallinn to keep it tidy on one hand as well as making guided tours for Old Town visitors with the emphasis on the importance of the WH preservation and ways to do it on the other hand. Volunteers will organize creative activities such as workshops, games, role plays, etc. around the 

topic of the WH protection, in particular the Old Town of Tallinn targeting local people and tourists. Activities will be documented, photos/ videos taken and exposed in the rooms of the School In Down Town. Teenagers will stay in the camp activities area from 10.00 to 17.00. There is one day‐off in the camp which will be spent in the host family. Camp activities will take place in a learning centre situated in the very centre of the city. To activate teenagers and run the program there will be 8 international volunteers and members of a local school staff.   Accommodation In the apartments of the host families in Tallinn and suburbs. Travel cards or pick up will be provided. Participants will stay in a separate or shared room. You do NOT need a sleeping bag. Participants will have breakfasts and dinners in their host families, lunches – all together in the city.  Location Camp will take place in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia listed in UNESCO WH List. In 2011 Tallinn carries the title of European Culture Capital.  Terminal Airport, bus & train station, harbor in Tallinn. Pick up by families at the point of arrival is possible upon request. Special requirements English is a camp language. The age of participants is 14 – 17. As you will be requested to make your country presentation, we ask you to bring some materials: postcards, posters, maps, music of your country/ region, etc.  Participation fee Camp program implementation involves costs for board, lodging, domestic transport and materials as well as expenses for excursions, visits, cultural activities and general administration. Since neither EstYES nor its camp partner ALPS receives any financial support for this camp from state or municipality, to make the camp happened we have to charge participation fee of 200 Euro which is different from your sending organization fee paid at home, and has to be paid by participants upon arrival to the camp.    

             

FINLANDIA   ALLI02   Vartiosaari  HELSINKI 3.7.‐10.7.  TEEN   15 vols   age 16‐17 Work: Youth office of Helsinki city is the camp host of this camp so there will also be 10 Finnish volunteers taking part in all activities in addition to 15 international volunteers. The camp is arranged in an old wooden house in an island in front of Helsinki. The volunteer will do maintenance work  in the house and around it. The work will be physical work such as painting and moving sand, maybe also some tidying up. Intercultural learning is a very important part of the camp, so all the volunteers should be prepared to tell about their home countries. Accomodation: Accommodation will be in the house which is owned by the city youth office. The volunteers will cook  their meals in turns (be ready to cook something typical for your country).  Location: Helsinki is the capital of Finland. T: Helsinki  Special requirement : There is an extra fee of 100 euros.   ALLI 05 Old Power   OULAINEN      3.7.‐16.7.                 CULT/TEEN     12 vols          age 16‐17 Work: The work will be to assist in organising a local event called Old engines day. The volunteers will assist in practical tasks in arranging the event, e.g. arranging a café, selling refreshments, tidying up the area afterwards and other miscellaneous work. The volunteers must be prepared to do different kind of work in various weather conditions. The aim of the camp is to give the volunteers a chance to experience Finnish nature and culture and enable the local youngsters to meet young people from other countries. The camp host is a local 4H club.   Accomodation: The accommodation is mainly in host families.  Location: Oululainen is a small town, about 7800 inhabitants. It’s about 100 km south from Oulu and about 550km north from Helsinki. Nearest airport is Oulu.                       

FRANCIA   CONC012   AIGUEBELLE 2        05/08 – 26/08       TEEN/ENVI       15‐17          15 VOLS PROJECT: This is the second year we have a partnership with the village of la Charbonnière. The « Charbonnière » rock is a place located in the county of Aiguebelle, in the region of the wonderful high mountains. You can find here the historic medieval site with the Charbonnière castle, an old fortress from the XI century. Nowadays we can discover the past prints through the ruins and the relics. Not very well‐known by the inhabitants, this site is still hiding a lot of mysteries that we suggest you to discover. Partner on this international youth exchange project, Animation of Canton d’Aiguebelle Association (AACA) will take advantage of this opportunity to meet the international volunteers during the work camp. Accompanied by local youth, the AACA supervisors will coordinate the exchanges and work on the thematic of the youth international mobility. Beautiful international friendships are waiting for you! WORK: For the moment the site is covered by the vegetation. So you will revamp the site to make it accessible for the public. You will also take care of the renovation the paths. A skidding activity will be offered time to time during which the donkeys will help you to take the shrub and the brushwood down during your working time. A technical supervisor and a mountain guide will supervise you along your work and he will share with you his knowledge of nature during your work camp. This work camp is for hiking and nature lovers!!! ACCOMODATION: 10 minutes away from your working place, under tents. You can have shower in a gymnasium in the centre of the village at 15 minutes by walk from your accommodation. LANGUAGE: English and French LOCATION: Aiguebelle is a village of 1100 inhabitants in the Maurienne Valley, 30 km away from Albertville. This village is surrounded by high mountains of the Bauges, Belledonne and Vanoise.  TERMINAL: Aiguebelle train station. Airport: Paris and Chambéry‐Savoie SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Bring with you working gloves, good walking and working shoes, a torch, a back pack, recipes from your country, a good sleeping bag, a ground cloth and warm clothes: the nights could be cold in the mountain!  EXTRA FEE: 150€    CONC 185  CC OUEST AMIENS  08/07 – 29/ 07     ENVI/TEEN           15‐17         15 VOLS Project: This is the fifth year that we organize a workcamp in collaboration with the “community of Ouest Amiens” and the national botanical institute of Bailleul. The volunteers will participate to fight against the Jussie, an invasive plant which create problems in the region. Indeed it will be the opportunity to discover the ecosystem of a small river and also to value the natural heritage. During the workcamp you will join several activities and entertainment in this village, all of them organized in collaboration with the youth center in the village. And the last week you will finish with a great festival organized by the young people of the village.  Work: The Jussie is a plant that prevents from developing flora and fauna. In collaboration with the Canoe Club and the Center for Youth Leisure you will use canoes to reach different parts of the swamp to extract and throw away waste of jussie. You will also work in other areas of the swamp, this time on the ground (mowing work) to maintain natural areas. The work is physically very taxing. Language: English  Location: The “community of Ouest Amiens is reorganized in 18 smalls different and rural villages 

like Picquigny or Breilly.  Picquigny is in the department of Somme (80), in the Somme Valley, 20km from Amiens which is capital of the region Picardie and town’s Art and History.   Accommodation: camping ground in tents. Terminal: Picquigny’s train station (SNCF). Special Requirements: Swimming certificate is mandatory and please come with your rubber boots.  EXTRA FEE: 150€    SJ82 | Pierre meulière en Pays Fertois | 06.08          27.08 | RENO PROJECT (15 vols, 15‐17): The volunteers will participate in the restauration of the historical heritage of La Ferté sous Jouarre, the world capital of the stone Meulière. The workcamp will take place in a beautiful parc from the town, whose wall has to be restored on several meters by using traditionnal technics. Other work will also be realised at the camp (garden, bread oven, painting). The volunteers will be hosted on the camping of the association and they will share their stay with a group of 12 french volunteers. The activities (kayaking, biking, international meal) will be organised with the young people. The meeting with the other hosted youth and the local population is the heart of the project. Of course the volunteers will have the opportunity of discovering Pairs and the surrounding cultural heritage. ACCOMMONDATION: In tents (yurts, tipi) LOCATION: La Ferté sous Jouarre is located  60 km from Paris NEAREST TRAIN STATION: La Ferté sous Jouarre  Participation fee: 150€    SJ24|  Nichoirs en bois | 09.07 ‐ 23.07 | ENVI PROJECT (12 vols, 15‐17): The association « Centre de Beaumotte » will organize a workcamp that is centered around environmental activities. The main aim is to create nesting boxes for different types of birds living and nisting on the shore of the lake « Saussoir ». The nesting boxes will help to substitute the natural cavities which tend to disappear. The afternoons will be used to do different kinds of free‐times activities that the animators and volunteers will decide together. Besides the volunteers there will also be other people at Beaumotte which the volunteers will regularly meet during eating times, the cleaning tasks and the preparation of the meals in which the volunteers will participate as well. ACCOMMONDATION: The volunteers will sleep in tends on camping beds. LOCATION: Beaumotte les Montbozon is located 25 km from Vesoul and 30 km from Besancon. NEAREST TRAIN STATION: Vesoul Participation fee: 150€    SJ41 | Bucey les Gy | 23.07 ‐ 06.08 | RENO PROJECT (10 vols, 15‐17): This workcamp is organized by the village Bucey les Gy and a local association for heritage protection. Ten international and ten French volunteers  living in the area « haute saône » are going to share their time during this workcamp. Working project will be the reconstruction of a stonewall. This work will be guided by three animators and a technical support. During the afternoons the volunteers are going to have the possibility to get to know the local population and to discover the region which is called Franc‐Comtois. ACCOMMONDATION: The volunteers will sleep in the community hall. 

LOCATION: Buecy les Gy is located 20 km from Marnay NEAREST TRAIN STATION: Besançon Participation fee: 150€   SJ44 | Sentiers, Vaunières | 24.07 – 06.08 | ENVI PROJECT (12 vols, 15‐17): Vaunières is a hamlet in the heart of a mountain cirque and is located at the intersection of two GR (hiking paths), which makes it an ideal place for hiking. But the existing trails lead to other villages and other places and there are few possibilities of returning to the same point in the evening without making a round trip. Last year a loop trail has been started to have a walk around Le Quigouret, one of the surrounding peaks. This year it’s the return portion on the other side which will be done. It will bring you to design, draw and create a pleasant family hike. This site offers the opportunity to meet young people from around the world to discover the rural lifestyle, achieve an average hiking mountains, visit some tourist attractions in the region and share many festive moments with all the other young welcomed in Vaunières. ACCOMMONDATION: In tents LOCATION: Vaunières hosting centre is located 7km far from St Julien en Beauchêne village (Hautes Alpes), 40km from Gap and 200km north from Marseille NEAREST TRAIN STATION: Lus la Croix Haute Participation fee: 150€   SJ58 | Insect Hotel | 06.08 ‐ 20.08 | ENVI PROJECT (18 vols, 15‐17): In this workcamp the volunteers will get to know a lot about the importance of bees in order to have a healthy and fruitful garden. To increase the population of bees in the garden of Beaumotte and to make them stay there, the volunteers will build a so called « Insect Hotel » which will help the bees to establish their population and to come over the winter. The presence of bees in a garden are an efficient agent against vermin. The settlement of bees can therefore be an ecological way of protecting plants instead of using pesticides, which have a negative impact on the environment, especially as the garden of Beaumotte is situated besides a river (Ognon). The afternoons will be free to organize different activities that the volunteers and the animateurs decide together. During mealtimes, cleaning tasks and other social moments the volunteers will meet the rest of the people that are working or living at the center Beaumotte. ACCOMMONDATION: In tents LOCATION: Beaumotte les Montbozon is located 25 km from Vesoul and 30 km from Besançon. NEAREST TRAIN STATION: Vesoul. Participation fee: 150€   CBF03 Gâtines et Choisille  10/07 to 30/07/2011   TEEN ‐ RENO/ENVI 14 vols.  Renovation works in order to create a House of the Environment.  8 international volunteers + 6 French volunteers  Project : The local authorities wish to realize actions in order to make people more aware about the environment and sustainable development. That’s why they want to host a workcamp  to experiment an  ecological way of life. Work: You will work in a forest next to Tours. You will realize the wood cladding of the House of the Environment “the Rouchoux” for a better integration of this building in the forest.  Location: The workcamp will take place 20km in the north of Tours Nearest airport: Paris

town of Ermonville. ACCOMODATION: under tents with the use of a municipal hall for the daily life.   MEETING: Meeting at Plessis Belleville railway station.  EXTRA FEE: 150€    CONC 003   PINSOT        04/07 ‐ 17/07        TEEN/RENO             15‐17                       12 VOLS Project: It is a great pleasure to announce our first international workcamp in partnership with Pinsot. The 200 inhabitants are very implicated in the life of their town which makes this village very dynamic and lively! Pinsot has an affluent heritage despite its small size, including « le Sentier du Fer ». A historic and touristic site, this path is related to the important activity of mining between the 12th and the 19th century. The purpose of this workcamp will be to emphasize some of the constructions already done along the path in order to keep it accessible and interesting. There are no doubts that the inhabitants will come to help you on these works. You will have the occasion to meet a lot of them during various animations. This workcamp will be full of exchanges and meetings! Work: You will participate in the reparation of the ovens, the renovation of the stables and the retaining of walls by the dry stone method. You will clean, reappoint, and restore the path as well as set up new walls. Accomodation: In the city hall located in the center of the village. Location: Pinsot is a village located on the « Massif de Belledonne » at an altitude of about 730 m. Surrounded by forests and mountains; it is near to Saint Pierre d’Allevard (where exchanges with another workcamp are possible) and is located at the same distance form Grenoble and Chambéry (45km).  Language: English and French. Terminal: Goncelin train station. Special requirements: Bring working gloves, good walking and working shoes, warm clothes, good sleeping bag, ground cloth, and backpack. Pinsot is a small village located in the middle of the mountains. A workcamp made for nature and hiking lovers. A lot of activities will be proposed during these two weeks. Special remarks: The location of the workcamp is quite isolated. EXTRA FEE: 150€    CONC 062 CLERMONT 1     06/07 ‐ 20/07           TEEN/MANU       15‐17                 12 VOLS Project: Concordia organizes since 1993, international workcamps with the city of Clermont‐Ferrand. Environment thematic has always been very present in the proposed activities. For the second consecutive year the workcamps will be organized on the theme family gardens.  These gardens are relatively ancient and from a working class tradition and they extend over two districts: ʺChampratel ʺ and ʺLes Vergnesʺ in the North of Clermont‐Ferrand. Today these gardens seriously need to be reorganized. Family gardens were created to be places of conviviality which allow city‐dwellers to discover a link with nature and food producing to make our cities more sustainable. A preparatory study will be led with a district association in order to define the work to be done with the gardeners. Work: The work will be planned with the gardeners before the summer. As an example, you will take part in the reorganization of the landscaping of the garden (change of fences, small renovation work) and you will participate in activities to raise awareness about sustainable development gardening techniques for the gardeners. Gardens are cosmopolitan and the meeting with the

CONC 183  ST MAXIMIN   6/07 – 27/07          TEEN /RENO         15‐17             15 VOLS Project: The town of Saint Maximin is in the heart of stone quarries, in the south of Oise. This little town has a cultural and particular heritage (troglodytic houses, open old careers, mushroom bed, etc.).  For this reasons the town of Saint Maximin wants to develop a museum called “La Maison de la Pierre” (the house of stone). After the success of the fourth first workcamps, the work will be oriented differently because it will take place in July and in an open place above the quarry, where previous workcamps took place previously. Work: This year the work will be to develop an area above the quarry overlooking the highway. The work will consist in cleaning and clearing a place, install some benches and install a fence along the frontal part of the quarry. The aim of the “Maison de pierre” is to enhance the open quarry by creating this perspective. Language: English  Location: St Maximin is located in the south of Creil; in the Regional natural park of Oise Pays de France. There will be opportunities to walk in the Chantilly’s forest and to see its castle. Accommodation: under tents besides the football stadium with locker rooms for the facilities.   Meeting point: Chantilly train station. EXTRA FEE: 150€    CONC 184   NOGENT SUR OISE    08/07 –29 /07    TEEN/RENO  15‐17    16 VOLS PROJECT: After the two first workcamps in partnership with a local organisation and the town of Nogent sur Oise CONCORDIA will carry on with a workcamp between local teenagers and young people from Quebec. The aim is to improve the living environment that is why you will work in the Hébert park. The volunteers will be integrated in the community life through activities with the children of the leisure center for example.   WORK: You will work on the renovation and the painting of the Hébert park porch by defining and fixing the joints. You will also scrap and paint a fence.  LOCATION: Nogent sur Oise is located in the heart of Oise department, near Creil and Chantilly.  ACCOMODATION: under tents, collective life and meals in a building.  TERMINAL: Creil train station. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: French‐Quebec Workcamp EXTRA FEE: 150€    CONC 211      NIMES Courbessac            06/07 – 20/07         TEEN/RENO        15‐17       12 VOLS PROJECT: The town of Nîmes is the owner of a wide old farmland established by the Romans in the area of Courbessac. A big project with the association MENHIR plans to build a leisure area and the implementation of an international centre of olive‐tree. In the domain of Escattes, a water spring has been improved and canalized by stone walls and some environmental works have been done.  WORK: There are some ruins of an old “capitelle” (shed build with dry stone, typical in this region) in the place and the purpose is to to clear the vegetation and to prepare the excavation work which will be carried out by experts and the local population. Other similar works might be proposed in other areas of the place. LANGUAGE: English LOCATION: You will live in the little village called Bezouce, 10 kilometers from Nîmes. You will however have many opportunities to go to Nîmes in the south of France, between Avignon and Montpellier

 SEEDS 27. Stykkishólmur in the Snæfellsnes peninsula  21/06 ‐ 05/07 ENVI 8 Vols. Age: 16+  WORK/PROJECT: SEEDS volunteers will be working with the local community to reduce the spread of the Lupine plant, which has been used in Iceland in order to control soil erosion and re‐vegetate eroded areas; but in some places its spread is more than desirable and being a foreign specie (originally from Alaska) hinders the native flora to grow and reproduce.  Furthermore we will assist in beautifying the town and surroundings by maintaining hiking paths, planting trees and taking care of green areas.  The town is very concerned about environmental issues and the marina was awarded the Blue Flag 2007, for the initiative of protecting and improving the quality of the marina. In 2008 all inhabitants were encouraged to recycle their garbage and it was the first community in Iceland to classify and recycle all normal garbage from the homes.  ACCOMMODATION: We will be hosted in a local school in sleeping bag accommodation. Food ingredients will be provided and a kitchen will be available, volunteers will share the duties of preparing and cooking meals. Please bring your own sleeping bag and do not forget some traditional food from your home country for the international evening. LOCATION: The town of Stykkishólmur is situated in the western part of Iceland, to the north of the Snæfellsnes peninsula. With its 1240 inhabitants, it is a centre of services and commerce for the area. Most of the people make their living from fishing and tourism. The distance to Reykjavík is about 180 km, and scheduled buses operate daily between the two places all year round. The favourable position of the town was discovered rather early and in 1550 a trading post was founded at the site, becoming a centre for trade, transportation and services on Breiðafjörður A great deal of effort has been put into preserving the town’s old houses, and old buildings thus have a great influence on the appearance of downtown Stykkishólmur. The oldest building, the Norwegian House (Norska Húsið), is the Snæfellsnes Folk Museum. Many craftspeople live in Stykkishólmur, and a crafts market there is open in summer. The townʹs former library has been restored as a public hall and contains an installation by the American artist Roni Horn, situated at a place with one of the most beautiful views.  The landscape draws travellers there to experience the renowned diverse nature of the peninsula. Hiking trails between beaches offers great views to admire and the nearby mountains with routs for beginners and more experiences hikers can tempt every outdoor loving person  All general services can be found in Stykkishólmur, while famous historical places and natural monuments are within easy reach including interesting shark processing, in Bjarnahöfn, which has been popular with visitors.  The ferry Baldur makes regular journeys over Breiðafjörður. In summer, it sails twice a day between Stykkishólmur and Brjánslækur, with a stop in Flatey where travellers can spend some of the day in a peaceful village which has a long and noteworthy history.  LANGUAGE: English will be the official language in the camp; high proficiency is not a requirement. TERMINAL: Closest International Airport: Keflavík/Reykjavík (KEF). Closest bus stop is in town. 

SEEDS organises the “minibus option”, a shared transport from Reykjavík to the camps and vice‐versa, which apart from being cheaper and more convenient, allows volunteers to meet fellow campers and have a relaxed trip, while stopping on the way for interesting and tourist sites. EXTRAS / SPECIAL REMARKS: Participation fee EUR 120,‐ (Euros).   SEEDS volunteers will have access to the town’s geothermal swimming pool, as to the hot tubs with pure water that comes straight from the borehole. The water is famed for its healing powers.  Several pleasant hiking options within the Stykkishólmur area: The nearby mountains of Helgafell, Drápuhlíðarfjall and Kerlingarfjall are also worth the hike and are easily accessible.   SEEDS 28. Revegetation in the south of Iceland 22/06 ‐ 06/07 ENVI 12 Volunteers Age: 16 +  WORK/PROJECT: Since 2007, SEEDS has been working with few other NGOs devoted to the revegetation of eroded soils in the south west part of Iceland. The aim of the project is to halt the downward spiral of erosion and to strengthen the ecosystems by enhancing its natural vegetation.  By using organic waste materials for fertilizing we aim for a double dividend. The soils, poor in plant nutrients, are enriched while the amount of materials in need for a waste treatment is substantially decreased. The south west is part of the volcanic belt of Iceland envisaged by vast lava fields and easily erodible volcanic soils. On top of that the area has suffered from overgrazing of sheep for a long time. Consequently the ecological condition is rather poor and some areas are stripped entirely of top soil. Close to 70% of the total population lives in this part of Iceland with the capital Reykjavík and neighbouring municipalities making up the bulk of the population. Different kinds of organic waste materials are being generated in and from the urban environment, substantial quantities every year. In the long run stuff like horse manure, garden waste and the likes are the best revegetation means available. We work to make way for these materials as a revegetation medium.  In this project we combine professionalism with idealism. The results so far can already be seen at a number of sites in the area and since 2007 with an important contribution from SEEDS volunteers. In 2011 SEEDS volunteers will basically perform three different types of work: a) Revegetation and erosion control, b) Monitoring the survival and growth of tree plantations of former years. c) Tree planting. Volunteers will likely be working hand‐in‐hand with Icelanders of similar age.  ACCOMMODATION: Volunteers will be lodged in a house with basic facilities in one of Reykjavik’s neighbouring towns, Hafnarfjörður. We will sleep on mattresses and shall bring a sleeping bag.  Food ingredients will be provided, a kitchen will be available, we will share the duties of cooking and cleaning. Do not forget traditional food from your country for the international evening.  LOCATION: The work will take place in the vicinity of Reykjavik, and the groups will touch upon more than one project in more than just one place. The main emphasis will be on erosion control in an area on the banks of Kleifarvatn, the big lake of the Reykjanes peninsula. The Reykjanes, peninsula at the south–western end of Iceland is located near the capital and most travellers to Iceland land in the area: As the Reykjanes coastline draws closer and the plane prepares to land at Keflavík Airport, the peninsula is marked by active volcanism under its surface, and large lava fields allow little vegetation. There are numerous hot springs and sulphur

CYVA 07 ENVIRONMENT UNIVERSITY 24/07‐06/08 ENVI (Teenagers 16 – 17 y.o.)  VOLS 10 PROJECT/WORK: The hosting organization is Lithuanian University of Agriculture. The idea of the project is to let volunteers contribute to the maintenance of the famous T.Ivanauskas homestead garden. Tadas Ivanauskas was a famous Lithuanian zoologist and biologist, and one of the founders of Vytautas Magnus University. Among his other achievements, he is known for opening one of the first bird banding stations in Europe, at Cape Ventė in 1929. He also founded the Zoological Museum in 1918, the Kaunas botanical garden in 1923, and the Kaunas Zoo in 1938. In 1920 professor T.Ivanauskas immortalized his cultural and educational work in an 8 ha homestead called “Obelyne” (the apple garden). It is an invaluable piece of cultural and historical heritage, including the dendrite park, a collection of fruiters and the family house. This natural monument and the museum of living nature hold huge recreational value and historical importance. It is a precious and numerous gene pool comprised of internationally introduced trees and bushes (246 species). Especially valuable is the large exotic conifer dendrite collection. A lot of unwanted plants grow independently around the T.Ivanauskas homestead and the nursery gardens of Lithuanian University of Agriculture. They need to be weeded out. It is necessary to renovate the cognitive paths, bring the environment of the exposition in order.  ACCOMMODATION/FOOD: In a students’ dormitory of Lithuanian University of Agriculture. 4‐5 persons per room. Common toilets, showers are available Cooking is done by volunteers themselves.  LEISURE TIME:  Volunteers will have possibilities to visit museums, historical places in Kaunas, ethnographic museum in Rumšiskes. Excursions to Vilnius are possible. LOCATION: The distance from Kaunas city centre to Lithuanian University of Agriculture is 10 km. Kaunas is the second largest city in Lithuania and the fourth in the Baltic states. It is situated in the center of the country. Kaunas is 100 km away from Vilnius and 200 km from Sea port Klaipeda. TERMINAL: Kaunas or Vilnius airports/bus stations WHAT TO BRING: Sleeping bags (though bed sheets will be provided), long‐sleeved clothes; trousers; rain gear; anti mosquito cream; music instruments (if you can and wish to make the evenings more fun); tapes; CD’s; your national games and recipes; songs; dances; ideas how to spend leisure time; swimming things; waterproofed shoes. MEETING POINT: We ask you to arrive on the first day of the camp. More details and the address of the camp will be sent with the acceptance letter and info sheet. EXTRA FEE – 180 Euro

 GEN‐16  SHORT FILM     YENI SAKRAN           24.07‐31.07  TEEN/ART   20  VOLS GENC TATIL is an international thematic camp for the age group 15‐17. Teenagers from different countries will create a “group film” in a youth center. Majority of the group will be Turkish teens. The participants will use their creativity & express their ideas to write their scenario, act, shoot and direct their films in this camp. Besides, the daily program of the camp may consists of different activities like sports, arts & crafts, creative drama, music, etc.  Some days are reserved for trekking and sight seeing tours. Turkish & international volunteers will be leading or assisting the daily activities. Afacan Youth Center is a place where GENCTUR hosts various voluntary and youth camps. There might be disabled or disadvantaged groups at the site at the same time. The campsite is a secure place and participants will not be allowed to leave the camp site on their own. Airport transfer may be organized by GENCTUR upon request but only from Istanbul Atatürk Airport (in the European side) on 24.07.2011 Sunday between 08.00 – 17.00 hours, at the cost of    20 €. The group will depart to the camp site on the same evening by an overnight coach. The return coach ticket is 70 € to be paid on arrival. The teen participants will also be accompanied on their return to Istanbul on the night of 31.07.11. Thus the return flight tickets must be arranged for 01.08.2011 Monday afternoon. WORK: Making a short film by using hand cameras and computers.  ACCOMODATION: At Afacan Youth Center, in 3‐5 bedded rooms with showers & toilets.  FOOD: Will be served in the center.  LANGUAGE: English.    SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Smoking & alcohol is certainly not permitted at the camp. If you are a smoking or alcohol consuming teenager do not apply.  LOCATION: Yenisakran is in the west of Turkey. The center is by the seaside. The nearest city is Izmir.  TERMINAL: Istanbul.  Extra Fee: 200 Euro. To cover 6 nights full board accommodation at the camp site, excluding the personal expenses during the camp like soft drinks, ice cream, etc., return travel + transfer costs in Turkey.   GEN‐21    PRACTICE ENGLISH IN TURKEY  06.08 – 20.08  TEEN      10 int.+20 Turkish This camp is for teenagers who want to practice English in an international atmosphere. There will be local teenagers as well. The adult international volunteers, will organize different activities & games for the group of teens.  Airport transfer may be organized by GENCTUR upon request but only from Istanbul Atatürk Airport (in the European side) on 06.08.2011 Saturday between 08.00 – 17.00 hours, at the cost of 20 €. The group will depart to the camp site on the same evening by an overnight coach. The return coach ticket is 35 € to be paid on arrival. The teen participants will also be accompanied on their return to Istanbul on the night of 20.08.2011. Thus the return flight tickets must be arranged for 21.08.2011 Sunday afternoon. WORK:Some days there will be light work as a daily activity.  ACCOMODATION: Basic, in camping rooms with 4 beds. Sleeping bag and mat are not necessary. Toilets and showers  are common.   FOOD: Will be supplied at the site.  

LANGUAGE: English.  LOCATION: Lapseki is a small town in the North‐west of Turkey by the Sea of Marmara.  TERMINAL: İstanbul. The project will start in Istanbul with a compulsory orientation meeting that all volunteers should attend on the first day of the camp. The group will travel together to the camp site by an overnight coach on the same evening.  SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Smoking and alcohol consuming is not allowed during the camp. If you are a smoking or alcohol consuming teenager please do not apply. Extra Fee: 50 Euro to cover the organizational expenses and the materials.
