Care lettrici e cari lettori,è tempo d’autunno e di raccolto. Una stagione delle più amate che ci permette di tirare le prime somme e prepararci adeguamente al prossimo Mercatino. Un appuntamento che si riconferma molto atteso, ormai anche dai bolzanini che aspettano che la città si vesta a festa per il periodo più suggestivo dell’anno.Auguro a tutti i nostri ospiti di cogliere l’autenticità del nostro territorio, proposta attraverso i nostri prodotti, ma soprattutto attraverso l’atmosfera, le luci e i suoni dell’Avvento altoatesino.

Liebe Leserinnen und Leser,jede Jahreszeit hat in Südtirol und in Bozen ihren Reiz, aber der Herbst und der Winter warten mit einem ganz besonderen Potpourri an Farben und Erlebnis-sen auf. Unbestrittener Höhepunkt der zweiten Jahreshälfte – und nicht nur für unsere Gäste – ist sicher der Bozner Christkindlmarkt, der sich malerisch zu Füßen des Doms und vor der atemberaubenden Kulisse der schneebedeckten Dolomiten-gipfel ausbreitet. Ich wünsche Ihnen allen, dass sie die Besonderheiten unseres schönen Landes kennenlernen und schätzen können, nicht zuletzt auch dank unserer Produkte, vor allem aber dank der einzigartigen, alle Sinne ansprechenden Atmosphäre des Bozner Advents.

Le luci illuminano percorsi verso il centro storico, taber-nacolo di architettura e cultura nordica, con gli altri mer-catini di Palais Campofranco, piazza della Mostra e del Municipio, la Chiesa dei Domenicani e il parco dei Cap-puccini, poi di nuovo verso il palazzo Mercantile, sede dell’omonimo museo, santuario del sapere e del potere commerciale cittadino, di piazza delle Erbe, del famoso Museo Archeologico con Ötzi, il museo civico con la pre-ziosa storia cittadina, il Museion e, oltre il ponte Talvera, il nuovo museo del monumento alla Vittoria che racconta la storia fra le due grandi guerre. Un tema non natalizio, ma che apre alla comprensione della città e spiega la sua coerenza, la sua essenza di ponte fra culture, la volontà di riproporre le sue tradizioni, fra le quali spicca, di sicuro, il mercatino di Natale.Da Bolzano il passo verso gli altri mercatini dei dintorni è breve: il Renon con gli originali allestimenti lungo il per-corso del trenino dalla stazione a monte della funivia alla romantica Collalbo, il villaggio di Sarentino, scrigno di tra-dizione autentica, il mercatino di Caldaro fino alla mostra dei presepi a San Paolo di Appiano, due paesi consacrati ai grandi vini.Info: www.mercatinodinatalebz.it

L e casette s’illuminano, si offrono agli occhi, strappan-do stupore, ognuna con la sua merce ben riposta e ordinata, cascate di piccoli oggetti: palline di Natale,

alcune vere e proprie opere d’arte, candele profumate e decorate con grande creatività, stelle di fiori secchi, corone d’Avvento, gnomi di terracotta che raccontano storie, stel-le e stelline di paglia e, ancora, un pulviscolo di ornamenti, minuscoli gioielli, per impreziosire l’albero di Natale e ab-bellire la casa, e minimi feltri e leccornie, spesso del tempo che fu, che raccontano, come una vetrina, il territorio. E poi ci sono i profumi. Che sono fastosi e festosi, dicono di spezie, di frittelle di mele, di dolci e di altri cibi di una tradizione che esiste da secoli, forse da millenni. Il mercatino di Natale è tutto questo, è anche questo, è molto più di questo. Spuntano dietro le casette figure oranti, espressione delle fatiche, e delle fantasie, di un gruppo di scultori gardenesi, che sembrano riunire il mercato al Duomo che si slancia,possente e armonioso, a ridosso della piazza: sembrano suggerire la spiritualità, sembrano spingere a insinuarsi in uno dei monumenti simboli della città, uno scrigno d’ar-te nel quale le note che si svelano dall’organo dicono di quell’attesa che è il vero messaggio dell’Avvento. Dal palco risuonano le musiche tradizionali del Natale così come lo si intende nell’arco alpino: ottoni, qualchestrumento a corda come l’arpa, la fisarmonica, ma anche lo scacciapensieri, suonato anticamente in molti masi dell’Alto Adige, la cetra, i corni delle Alpi, messaggi che su-perano l’allegro affaccendarsi del mercato per salire sopra la città.

EVENTIOgni fine settimana e nei ponti festivi musica popolare autentica delle tradizioni dell’Avvento in Alto Adige. Nelle Chiese concerti di organo, novene e i concerti dell’Avvento dei cori locali accompagnati da musica da camera.

A Palazzo Mercantile sala relax nei sabati e nelle domeni-che prima di Natale: la sala è aperta dalle 10.30 alle 17.30, offre la possibilità di rilassarsi, di leggere un buon libro natalizio prestato dalla biblioteca civica e di vivere alcuni laboratori artistici.

Green event: finalmente il mercatino si è dotato del marchio di sostenibilità. La raccolta differenziata, la scelta di prodotti chilometro zero, le decorazioni, tutto fin nei dettagli è stato studiato per limitare l’impatto ambien-tale. Con Tetrapak e la cooperativa sociale del latte Mila sono stati prodotti migliaia di sacchetti ecologici e alla fine del mercatino la CO2 prodotta sarà compensata dalla piantumazione di alberi. Scommettiamo quanti?

Manca qualche minuto alle 17.00 di giovedì 27 novembre e si respira il nervosismo che precede la gara. Il sole tramonta e piazza Walther rimane buia, le autorità sul palco si presentano e salutano il pubbli-co accorso numeroso fra l’albero di Natale e la statua di Walther von der Vogelweide, i fiati soffiano nell’aria i primi suoni dell’Avvento alpino e poi, con un gesto, si accendono le luci sulla magia del Natale.

Die Holzhäuschen rund um den Waltherplatz und der große festlich geschmückte Weihnachts-baum leuchten auf. Achtzig Aussteller haben ihre

Ware auf’s Schönste hergerichtet. Kunsthandwerk, Christ-baumschmuck, Holzgeschnitztes, Glasmalerei, allerhand Süßigkeiten, Wollenes, Kerzen, Adventskränze, Terrakotta-Zwerge, Schlernhexen, Krippen, Musik und vieles andere mehr zum Thema Weihnachten erwartet die Besucher. Ein Weihnachtsdörfchen scheint sich hier mitten in der Stadt aufzutun, Wohnstätte von Engeln und anderen guten Geistern, die dem Weihnachtsmann und dem Christkind zur Hand gehen.Neben den Farben und Lichtern ist es besonders der Duft, der jedes Mal aufs Neue in den Bann zieht. Diese unwi-derstehliche Mischung aus Zimt, Bienenwachs, Zucker, gerösteten Nüssen, Glühwein und süßem Punsch. Hinter den Hütten weisen mannshohe Holzskulpturen, geschaffen aus der jahrhundertealten Tradition von be-gnadeten Gadertaler Holzschnitzern den Weg zum Dom, wo die frohe Weihnachtsbotschaft verkündet und mit Orgelspiel besiegelt wird. Von der Bühne des Markts erklingen Bläser, Alphörner, Harfe, Zither und Gitarre, ganz im Zeichen der alpenlän-dischen Tradition.Auch das Zentrum von Bozen ist in die Farben des Advents gekleidet. Festlich geschmückte gotische Häuserfassaden und Schaufenster. Rot, gold und grün wohin das Auge blickt. Der Christkindlmarkt im Christkindlmarkt im Pa-lais Campofranco. Hier ist die Weihnachtsatmosphäre noch einmal anders interpretiert. Der Spaziergang durch die Winterstadt und ihre Sehenswürdigkeiten lässt mit jedem Schritt die Faszination dieser Stadt erleben, die

VERANSTALTUNGENAn jedem Wochenende und an den Feiertagen erwartet die Besucher ein reiches Begleitprogramm. Orgelkonzerte, Chorauftritte, besondere Gottesdienste.

Für Mußesuchende bietet das Merkantilmuseum an den Wochenenden einen Ruheraum, geöffnet von 10.30 bis 17.30 Uhr.

Green Event: Bozen setzt auch im Zeichen der Weihnacht auf Nachhaltigkeit. Mülltrennung, das Null-Kilometer-Prinzip und CO2-Reduzierung… Gemeinsam mit Tetra Pak und der Genossenschaft Mila wurden besondere Papier-tüten entwickelt. Im Januar wird die geschätzte CO2-Produktion in zu pflanzende Bäume umgesetzt. Wie viele werden es wohl sein?

Auf dem Ritten ist entlang der historischen Bahn ein Weihnachtsparcours errichtet, das Dorf Sarnthein pflegt die alpenländische Tradition mit alten Riten, in den Weindörfern Kaltern und Eppan gibt es einen weiteren Markt und eine Krippenausstellung zu besichtigen.

27. November. Kurz vor 17 Uhr. Das letzte Dämmerlicht wirft seine Schatten, bevor der Waltherplatz im Dunkeln versinkt. Spannung liegt in der Luft. Sowohl die Honoratioren auf der Tribüne als auch das Publikum zu ihren Füßen warten gespannt ... Dann endlich ist es soweit: Spot an, Musik los. Zum 24. Mal wird der Bozner Christkindlmarkt eröffnet.

Shortly before 5.00 pm on 27th November. Dusk slowly dies away as night falls on the Waltherplatz. There’s excitement in the air, the dignitaries on the

stage and the public below are waiting in eager anticipa-tion …And finally the time has come: the spotlights come on, the music plays, and Bolzano’s 24th Christmas market is inaugurated. The little wooden market stalls and the giant Christmas tree light up. Over eighty exhibitors have lovingly displayed their wares: handicrafts, Christmas tree decorations, wood-carvings, glass painting, all manner of sweets, woollens, candles, Advent wreaths, terracotta gnomes, Schlern-witches, cribs and much else besides. A little Christmas village right in the town centre, home to angels and other good spirits.

It’s not just the colours and lights that assault the senses, but also the wafting scents of cinnamon, beeswax, sugar, roasted nuts, mulled wine and sweet punch.Behind the market stalls, tall wooden sculptures crafted according to the age-old traditions of the woodcarvers of the Badia valley indicate the way to the cathedral, where the joyous Christmas message is proclaimed, to the ac-companiment of organ music.The market stage hosts an array of musicians playing traditional alpine instruments: wind, alphorns, harp, zither and guitar.The entire town centre is clad in the colours of Advent. on Christmas. A leisurely stroll through the wintry town and its sights allows you to experience the fascination of this town, rich in history and culture, a testimony to the meeting of two cultures. The Church of the Dominicans, the park of the Capuchins, the Civic Museum, the Ötzi Museum, the Museion and, on the other side of the river Talfer, the new museum inside the Victory monument which recounts the sometimes tragic history of the town.Christmas is also very much alive in the surroundings of Bolzano. Up on the Ritten there is a special Christmas trail along the tracks of the old narrow-gauge railway, the village of Sarnthein has its own very special alpine Christ-mas market, as do the wine villages of Kaltern and Eppan, each with more displays of cribs.

EVENTSA rich programme of fringe events awaits the visitor at weekends and on public holidays: organ recitals, choir per-formances, special church services. There is even a ‘quiet room’ in the Mercantile Museum for people seeking peace and quiet, open at weekends from 10.30 am – 5.30 pm.

Green event: even at Christmas the town of Bolzano takes sustainability seriously: separate rubbish bins for glass, paper, plastic and organic refuse, local-sourcing and re-duced CO2 emissions. Once the market is over, to compen-sate for the calculated CO2 that was emitted, a number of trees will be planted. How many will there need to be?

ковой традиции.

Фигуры, изваянные мастерами из долины Валь-Гардена, сое-

диняют рынок с собором, где огранные ноты напоминают об

истинном послании Рождественского кануна.

Огни освещают пути к другим рыночкам – у Пале Кампоф-

ранко, на площадях делла Мостра и дель Муничипио, близ

Доминиканской церкви и парка Капуцинов, у музея Торговли,

у пьяццы делле Эрбе и Археологического музея с его Ётци, у

Музейона и, за мостом Тальвера, у нового музея Монумента

Победы, посвященного межвоенной истории.

Другие ярмарки в пригородах – не так далеки: это Ренон с

его оборудованием вдоль маршрута минипоезда; Сарентино;

Кальдаро; Сан-Паоло-Аппиано с выставкой рождественских

вертепов.

Box eventi – событияВ каждый уикенд и в праздничные дни – подлинная юж-

но-тирольская музыка в традициях Рождественского кануна.

В церквях – органные концерты, «новены» (девятидневные

службы), местные хоры в сопровождение камерных орке-

стров.

В Торговом дворце (palazzo Mercantile) – зал «релакс» по

субботам и воскресеньям до Рождества, с 10.30 до 17.30, для

отдыха, чтения рождественской книги из Городской библио-

теки и участия в творческих мастерских.

Green event – «Зеленое» событиеЯрмарка под знаком поддержки. Дифференцированный

сбор мусора, подборка продуктов с «нулевого километра»,

убранство – всё изучено с целью ограничения влияния на

окружающую среду. Фирма «Тетрапак» и общественный

молочный кооператив «Мила» выпустили тысячи экологи-

ческих мешков, и, наконец, произведенный углекислый газ

будет скомпенсирован посадкой деревьев.

Schokolade der verschiedensten Marken, Pralinen und was man dazu genießen kann bietet sie ihren Kunden an. Slitti, Cluizel, Obino, Domori - viele ihrer Marken kommen

aus Italien oder Frankreich, denn dort wird die edelste Schokolade hergestellt. Ein Südtiro-ler Produzent darf natürlich auch nicht fehlen im Sortiment: Oberhöller. Schokoladetafeln in allen Variationen, einzeln verpackte Schokoladeleckereien und feinste Pralinen lassen das Herz jedes Schokoladenliebhabers höher schlagen. Und in Völs am Schlern gerösteten Kaffee gibt es außerdem. Die Kunden sind bunt gemischt wie ihr Sortiment. Urlauber, Einheimische, Stammkunden und Zufallsbesucher, die nach einem Blick durchs Schaufenster der süßen Versuchung erliegen. Übrigens: Neunzig Prozent der Schokolade, die Agnes Bacher Moschen verkauft, sind dunkel! Kosten darf man auch und sich beraten lassen, was gut zur Schokolade passt: Schnaps, Rum oder Portwein, denn die gibt es auch bei Chocolat.

Per chi cerca invece l’autenticità c’è il prodotto made in Alto Adige firmato Oberhöller. Il cioccolato in stecche e i cioccolatini singoli. Con noci, fiori o zenzero. Bianco e al latte. Poi ci sono le praline, finissime, di tutti i tipi. L’assortimento è vasto come la clientela. Turisti, bolzanini, gli habitué e chi entra per caso perché catturato dalla vetrina. Difficile resistere alla tentazione. Agnes Bacher Moschen accontenta tutti, anche i cultori più raffinati che amano accompagnare il loro dolce preferito con un bicchiere di rhum, porto o grappa. O magari, perché no, con un caffè torrefatto a Fiè allo Sciliar.

KRIPPEN, TRADITIONEN UND CHRISTLICHE KUNST IN BOZENAuf den Spuren der Weihnacht

Adventszeit in Bozen, das ist weit mehr als nur der Christkindlmarkt. Krippen, Weihnachtschöre, alte Tiro-ler Traditionen wie zum Beispiel die Rorate-Messe mit Bauern-Chorälen, begleitet von Zither, Harfe und Gitarre im Bozner Dom oder furcht-erregende Holz-masken heidnischen Ursprungs. All das gehört zum alpenländischen Weihnachten. StadtmuseumIm Stadtmuseum bezeugen zahlreiche holzgeschnitzte Madonnen-Skulpturen aus karolingischer Zeit bis hin zur Renaissance das Weihnachtsgeschehen. Einigen von ihnen sagt man auch tatsächlich Wunderkräfte zu. Das Stadtmu-seum vermittelt eine ganz besondere Form der „Besichti-gung”. Einige Werke werden von Musik begleitet. Wer sich die Kopfhörer aufsetzt und die Augen schließt, wird in Zeit und Raum des Werks vor dem er gerade steht versetzt.

KrippenmuseumVon der Barockzeit bis zur Moderne reicht die Ausstellung im Krippenmuseum, das im romanischen Turm des Bene-diktinerklosters in Gries untergebracht ist. Neben den traditionellen Weihnachtskrippen gibt es auch Fasten-krippen oder Jahreskrippen zu sehen, in denen die Passion Christi bzw. Szenen aus dem gesamten Leben Christi dar-gestellt sind. Versteckte KunstschätzeNur wenige Schritte von der Benediktinerkirche am Grieser Platz entfernt, liegt die Alte Grieser Pfarrkirche inmitten eines alten Friedhofs. Hier ist ein absolutes Meisterwerk gotischer Schnitzkunst zu bewundern. Der Michael-Pacher-Altar von 1471, der die Krönung der Muttergottes zum The-ma hat. Ebenfalls in dieser Kirche, die nur mittwochs bzw. auf Vereinbarung besichtigt werden kann, zu bewundern ist ein romanisches Holzkruzifix aus der Zeit um 1200. Im Franziskanerkloster im Zentrum der Bozner Altstadt ist eine holzgeschnitzte Geburtsszene von Hans Klocker aus dem Jahr 1500 ausgestellt. Einen Besuch lohnen auch die Fresken aus dem 13. und 12. Jahrhundert in der Johannes-kapelle in der Dominikanerkirche am gleichnamigen Platz und in der Kapelle St. Johann im Dorf im Bozner Stadtvier-tel St. Johann.

Presepi, cori natalizi, antiche tradizioni del Vecchio Tirolo, maschere, abbigliamento e molti presepi: ecco quante curiosità e anche quanta cultura religiosa e popolare può offrire il periodo d’Avvento agli ospiti che approdano a Bolzano per il Mercatino di Natale. Il primo approccio nel deambulatorio del Duomo, dove viene allestito un presepe con statue intagliate, opera di un artigiano della Val di Sesto ai piedi delle Tre Cime di Lavaredo. Nel Duomo si rievocano anche antiche tradizioni musicali religiose tra cui una messa particolare detta “Ro-rate” (ovvero le “Novene”) accompagnata da canti corali, sia maschili che femminili delle contadine sudtirolesi e di bambini; le musiche vengono da strumenti tradizionali, quali la cetra, l’arpa e la chitarra.

Al Museo CivicoUn’eco natalizia si trova anche al Museo Civico (di fianco al Museo di Ötzi) grazie a una serie di statue lignee policro-me dedicate alla Madonna col Bambino, che abbracciano stili dall’epoca carolingia (VIII sec.) al Rinascimento, alcune ritenute “miracolose”; degna di nota è anche una stupen-da serie di 4 tavole d’altare risalenti al ‘500 con S. Giorgio e S. Bartolomeo e la splendida collezione di costumi tra-dizionali ricchi di colori e di fascino, indossati a Bolzano e dintorni nei periodi festa e devozione. Il Museo offre una sensazionale esperienza grazie speciali cuffie per vedere alcune opere… a occhi chiusi: un’espe-rienza di silenzio osservando le immagini e facendosi av-volgere da musiche d’atmosfera e ambientazioni sonore che subentrano semplicemente chiudendo gli occhi.

Museo dei PresepiNella torre romanica del castello-convento di Gries, svilup-pata su tre piani, la mostra dei presepi abbraccia tre secoli, da quelli barocchi risalenti al 1750 fino a opere di artisti contemporanei. L’esposizione offre la possibilità di ammi-rare gli stili, le tradizione e le culture dell’arco alpino pro-prio attraverso i suoi presepi. Accanto al presepe natalizio ci sono i cosiddetti Fastenkrippen (Presepi del digiuno) e Jahreskrippen (Presepi annuali). Mentre quello natalizio si limita alla Natività, la Fastenkrippe rappresenta le scene di sofferenza di Gesù, la Jahreskrippe invece scene tratte dai Vangeli, una sorta di messaggio visivo della Bibbia. Altri tesoriA pochi passi dal castello-abbazia si trova la Vecchia Par-rocchiale del rione di Gries, dove è esposto il capolavoro assoluto dell’arte lignea gotica (1471), l’altare di Michael Pacher con l’Incoronazione di Maria e ai lati due santi.Non meno prezioso il Crocifisso ligneo romanico del pri-mo 1200. La chiesa è aperta solo il mercoledì. Altri tesori da non perdere la non meno preziosa Natività lignea di Hans Klocker (1500) nel convento dei Francescani. Infine le cappelle affrescate: San Giovanni in Villa del XII secolo (in vicolo San Giovanni) con affreschi di chiaro influsso giottesco, che si ritrovano, splendidi anche nella Cappel-la omonima di San Giovani nella chiesa dei Domenicani, quasi a ridosso del Duomo.

Hidden artistic gemsThe old parish Church of Gries, situated in the middle of a small old cemetery, is just a stone’s throw from the Ben-edictine monastery of Gries. It houses an absolute gem of Gothic wood-carving: the Michael Pacher altar dated 1471, depicting the coronation of the Virgin Mary. The church, which is only open Wednesdays or by prior arrangement, also contains a magnificent Romanesque wooden cruci-fix from around 1200. The Franciscan monastery in the centre of Bolzano contains beautiful woodcarvings from around 1500 depicting the Nativity scene while the church of the Dominicans in the Dominikanerplatz hosts striking 12th-century frescoes, as does the little church of St Johann im Dorf, tucked away in Bolzano’s St Johann district.

Quando si parla dell’Alto Adige si pensa alle montagne, al latte, alle mele e al buon vino, ma c’è un altro prodotto che merita l’attenzione per la genuinità della materia prima e della produzione: i distillati. Buoni per favorire la digestione dopo una buona cena e, perché no, anche per scaldarsi in una fredda giornata autunnale o dopo una passeggiata al Mercatino di Natale…

Sempre elegante e distinto, vestito in tweed inglese, erre moscia, un perfetto cosmopolita e soprattutto un grande intenditore di vini. Questo è Giorgio Grai,

famoso produttore di vini, enologo e sommelier di Bolza-no, consulente di grandi cantine in Italia e in Francia. Fino a dieci anni fa gestiva un’enoteca a Bolzano in piazza Walther, l´Edi Bar, dove si andava non soltanto per cercare consulen-ze e per comprare del vino eccellente o magari particolare, ma anche con la speranza di incontrare il titolare per disqui-sire amabilmente di bouquet, gradazioni e grandi annate.Ad essere sinceri, Giorgio Grai non è abituale consumatore di grappe e distillati, ma sa benissimo cosa serve per ar-rivare a produzioni di qualità superiore. L’Alto Adige dice Grai, è una terra molto fortunata, non soltanto per i suoi vini pregiati, ma anche perché qui cresce ancora della buona frutta. Non trattata, di sapore pieno e maturata naturalmente. Un’ottima base per un buon distillato. La grappa viene invece prodotta dalla vinaccia già fermenta-ta al punto giusto, se è di vino rosso, o dalla vinaccia che deve sapientemente essere portata ad una fermentazio-ne controllata se di uve bianche. E anche da questo punto di vista, l’Alto Adige sembra perfetto, soprattutto perché chi distilla ha a disposizione in vicinanza materie prime fresche e di ottima qualità. Vinaccie varietali di uve Pinot

Nero, Lagrein, Schiava, Gewürztraminer o di Chardonnay…La distillazione è un processo molto antico. Consiste nel riscaldare un liquido facendo evaporare e poi condensa-re i vapori con un opportuno sistema di raffreddamento. Questo procedimento di rettifica serve per separare i va-pori condensati in liquido a temperature differenziate per ottenere poi il cuore puro in etilico. Già gli antichi egiziani e greci distillavano il vino o il sidro per produrre altre bevande alcoliche. Da scavi in Pakistan si sa che anche in Mesopotamia nel 500 a. C. veniva utiliz-zata la tecnica della distillazione. Nel medioevo i monaci distillavano medicine da erbe, ma non solo...Manca però ancora un tassello, e anche per questo aspet-to l’Alto Adige si trova in prima linea. A fine distillazione il liquido ricavato ha una gradazione di alcol tra i 60 e i 100 gradi e deve quindi essere portato a diluizione con acqua purissima che qui in Alto Adige certo non manca. Accanto alle aziende grandi come Roner, Walcher o Psen-ner, forti di riconoscimenti che vanno ben oltre i confini provinciali, in Alto Adige si trovano ancora piccoli distilla-tori come per esempio Stocker a Lagundo, Unterthurner a Marlengo o il Plonhof a Termeno.

Vittorio Capovilla a Rosà/Bassano del Grappa è invece un attento e capace produttore sempre alla ricerca di otti-ma materia prima e che si serve della frutta cresciuta in Alto Adige per creare alcuni dei suoi famosi distillati, dalle pere nettarine alle mele Gravenstein e Golden e dalle albicocche della Val Venosta alle bacche di sottobosco. Bis vor zehn Jahren un-terhielt er eine Weinhandlung mit Lokal am Waltherplatz, Edis Bar, in der es neben ausgezeichneten Etiketten auch die Gelegenheit zu einem animierten Gespräch über Bou-quets, Weinlagen und Jahrgänge mit dem Hausherrn gab.BM hat sich von Giorgio Grai das Grundprinzip der Destil-lation erklären lassen. Voraussetzung für ein gelungenes Produkt sind exzellente Rohstoffe und Passion.

Schnaps oder Grappa wird aus Trester hergestellt, ein Nebenprodukt der Weinherstellung. Vorgegoren, wenn er von Rotweintrauben stammt bzw. kontrolliert zur Gärung gebracht, wenn er von weißen Trauben stammt. Für Obst-brände verwendet man hingegen frisch geerntetes, na-turgereiftes und natursüßes Obst. Im Wein- und Obstland Südtirol in bester Qualität zur Hand.Das Verfahren der Destillation war schon in der Antike bei den Ägyptern und den Griechen bekannt. Es beruht auf der starken Erhitzung einer Flüssigkeit, anschließend wird der entstandene Dampf gezielt abgekühlt und konden-siert. Dieses thermische Trennverfahren dient dazu, ver-dampfbare Substanzen von festen zu trennen. In unserem

Fall Aromen und Düfte aus Obst bzw. aus Traubentrester. Die Araber verfeinerten diese Technik für medizinische Zwecke, im Mittelalter wurde sie vor allem in den Klöstern wieder aufgegriffen, um Kräuterkonzentrate herzustellen. Aber nicht nur… Neben den Rohstoffen gibt es noch einen Grund, der für die in Südtirol hergestellten Wein- und Obstbrände spricht. Das durch den Destillationsprozess hergestellte Konzentrat weist einen Alkoholgehalt zwischen 60 und 100 Grad auf und muss daher auf 42 bis 45 Prozent ver-dünnt werden, erklärt Giorgio Grai. Und Südtirol ist reich an frischem Quellwasser. Neben den großen Firmen wie Roner, Psenner und Walcher, deren Produkte mit zahlreichen Preisen ausgezeichnet sind, gibt es in Südtirol auch noch einige kleine Privat-brennereien wie z. B. Stocker in Algund, Unterthurner aus Marling oder der Ansitz Plonhof in Tramin. Der bekannte Destillateur Vittorio Capovilla aus Rosà/Bassano del Grappa hingegen verwendet für einige seiner exzellenten Obst-brände ausschließlich Obst aus Südtirol: Äpfel der Sorten Gravensteiner oder Golden, Aprikosen aus dem Vinschgau, Waldbeeren oder Honigbirnen. South Tyrol is blessed with wonderful natural beau-ty, an intact landscape and top-quality agricultural products – almost a land of milk and honey at the

foot of the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage site. Its wines, its dairy products and its apples are among the main South Tyrolean specialities. But there is more: South Tyrol is also home to exquisite distillates made from local fruit or from pomace, the residue of pulped grape skins. The ideal way to round off a great meal or to warm your insides on a cold day at the Christmas market.

We asked Giorgio Grai, an elegant, cosmopolitan gentle-man-sommelier who is an excellent connoisseur of wines and consultant to many of Italy’s and France’s top winer-ies to tell us something about the basic principles of the making of distillates.He explains that the main preconditions for making a top distillate are the excellence of the raw materials and pas-sion. Schnaps or grappa are made from pomace, the pulped grape skins that are a by-product of the wine-making pro-

cess, whereas fruit spirits are made with freshly-harvested, naturally-ripened fruit, which abound here in South Tyrol.Already the ancient Egyptians and Greeks were familiar with the process of distillation, in which a liquid is first heated to a high temperature and then the resulting steam is suddenly cooled and condenses. This ensures that substances in the liquid which can be vaporised are sepa-rated from solids. In our specific case, aromas and scents from fruit or pomace. The Arabs perfected this technique for medicinal purposes and then medieval monks in Eu-rope used these methods to produce herbal tinctures and much else besides ….But it’s not only the availability of the high-quality raw ma-terials that speaks for South Tyrol’s distillates – it’s also the purity of South Tyrol’s spring waters with which the high-percentage alcohol is diluted to between 42% and 45%.

The big players in this field in South Tyrol, firms like Roner, Psenner and Walcher, which have won many international quality awards, are flanked by several small private distill-eries like Stocker in Algund, Unterthurner in Marling or Ansitz Plonhof in Tramin. Cheers!

Neue 6er-Sessel-Umlaufbahn mit Direktantrieb TSCHEIN im Dolomiti Superskigebiet Carezza

Die neue Anlage verläuft auf einer Län-ge von knapp 2.000 Metern, ersetzt den bisherigen 3er-Sessellift und garantiert einen bequemen Aufstieg zum „Tschein“ Berg in nur 6 Minuten. Der rund 710 m längere Lift startet 550 m weiter südlich Richtung Moseralm. Die neue Bergsta-tion wird rund 80 Höhenmeter höher angelegt. Die Skifahrer kommen somit in den Genuss eines zusätzlichen Pistenteils unterhalb der Kölner Hütte.Die insgesamt 41 Pistenkilometer unterm Rosengarten und Latemar sind überaus gut erreichbar: In nur 15 Minuten erreicht man von Bozen Nord die Kabinenbahn im Ortszentrum von Welschnofen.

The fifth new aerial lift since 2008 is now being constructed in the Eggen Valley ski area beneath the Rose Garden.The new facility has a total length of al-most 2,000 meters, replaces the former 3-seat chairlift, and guarantees a conven-ient ascent to the mighty Tschein moun-tain in just six minutes. This lift is approx. 710 meters longer and starts 550 meters farther to the south, in the direction of the Moser Alm. The new mountain sta-tion is located about 80 meters higher. The total of 41 km of slope beneath the Rose Garden and Latemar are very easy to reach: In just 15 minutes, you can get to the aerial tram in the center of Welschnofen from north Bozen / Bolzano.

Climate change also has its archaeological aspect. It can bring to light what has been hidden under glacial ice for a very long time. The Iceman with its complete cloth-ing and equipment is the best known find, but he was not the only lucky find of the last decades. Many other objects have been exposed from the ice, recounting exciting stories from a distant past. And every new discovery gives rise to the question: What was it that drove people onto the glaciers for thousands of years?FROZEN STORIES is an exhibition of rare and in some cases only recently discovered finds from the glacier regions of the Alps, some of them appearing in public for the first time. A multimedia tour with animations, videos and original finds explains the glacier phe-nomenon to visitors in all its exciting topi-cality.

Der Klimawandel hat auch eine archäolo-gische Seite. Er bringt zu Tage, was für lan-ge Zeit im Gletschereis verborgen war. Der Mann aus dem Eis mitsamt seiner Ausrüs-tung ist der bekannteste Glücksfund, aber er ist nicht der einzige in den letzten Jahrzehn-ten. Viele weitere Objekte sind aufgetaut und erzählen uns spannende Geschichten aus der Vergangenheit. Und mit jedem neu-en Fund stellt sich die Frage: Was trieb die Menschen über Jahrtausende auf die Glet-scher?FROZEN STORIES zeigt seltene und teilweise erst kürzlich geborgene Funde aus den Glet-scherregionen der Alpen. Ein multimedial gestalteter Parcours macht das Phänomen Gletscher fassbar und fasziniert durch seine Aktualität.

Il cambiamento climatico ha conseguenze anche archeologiche. Esso porta alla luce oggetti e tracce rimasti nascosti per lun-go tempo nei ghiacciai. L’Uomo venuto dal ghiaccio insieme al suo equipaggiamento è il reperto più conosciuto, ma non è il solo caso fortunato degli ultimi decenni. Molti al-tri reperti sono emersi dal ghiaccio e ci rac-contano storie del passato. E con ogni nuovo ritrovamento si pone la domanda: cosa spin-se gli esseri umani ad andare sui ghiacciai nel corso dei secoli?FROZEN STORIES mostra reperti rari e, in parte, relativamente recenti rinvenuti nei ghiacciai delle Alpi, alcuni dei quali sono esposti per la prima volta. Un percorso multimediale con animazioni, video e ri-trovamenti originali rende comprensibile il fenomeno dei ghiacciai e affascina per la sua attualità.

Prodotti freschi a chilometro zero

I tanti prodotti offerti freschi ogni gior-no coprono tutto il fabbisogno, a par-tire da latte e biscotti per la prima co-

lazione fino alla tisana prima di andare a dormire. Burro di capra, yogurt, latte bio, formaggi di tutti i tipi, salame, pasta, tro-ta affumicata, carciofi e carote, cioccolato e caffè, vino e sidro – tutto rigorosamente a chilometro zero e prodotto in Alto Adi-ge secondo severi criteri di qualità e di sostenibilità.L’atmosfera infatti è di mercato. La mer-ce offerta ben in vista su scaffali aperti, i commessi specializzati, tra cui dieci sommelier di vino e tre sommelier di for-maggio, felici di spiegare ai loro clienti la particolarità di ogni prodotto. “Ci tenia-mo molto a trasmettere la storia e a rac-contare la persona che si cela dietro ogni nostro prodotto”, spiega Ulrich Wallnöfer. “E questo vale tanto per il maso dove si producono yogurt e formaggio quanto per la torrefazione del caffè.”

Pur-amente Alto Adige vuole essere più di un luogo dove fare la spesa. Ogni merca-to dispone infatti di un angolo bar dove prendere un caffè, un aperitivo o anche dove mangiare un toast o una zuppa as-sieme ad un buon bicchiere di vino. Un luogo quindi per incontrarsi, rilassarsi, uno spazio da vivere e da gustare. Con calma e con piacere. Aperto dalle 7.30 alle 19.30. Stessa filosofia anche per i materiali usa-ti per l’arredo e il design degli shop, dai cesti per la spesa agli scaffali per la mer-ce. Tutto rigorosamente altoatesino e a chilometro zero. Il designer Harry Thaler è stato premiato per questo progetto con il “Best Shop Designer 2014” del magazi-ne lifestyle londinese „monocle”. Da pur-amente Alto Adige a Bolzano si possono anche assistere alla produzione di pasta e grissini o degustare uno dei vini delle 17 cantine che fanno parte dell’assorti-mento.

I clienti possono scegliere tra più di 1.800 prodotti stagionali di 220 produttori alto-atesini. Accanto al comparto alimentare c’è anche la linea “pur manufactur” che offre oggetti artigianali fatti di legno, vetro o lana reinterpretati con un nuovo design. Ma da cosa è nata l’idea? Semplice. Da padri di figli piccoli, Hölzl e Wallnöfer in quanto imprenditori, hanno sentito la re-sponsabilità di promuovere sostenibilità ambientale e peculiarità regionale in un mondo sempre più globalizzato ed indu-strializzato. The interior design of the shops is stun-ning, with their wickerwork trolleys to the beautiful wooden shelving. Ein Denkmal - eine Stadt - zwei Diktaturen: das Museum im Siegesdenkmal

Im Juli öffnete das Museum im Sieges-denkmal seine Tore. Bis dato war das den Siegesplatz beherrschende Mo-

nument unnahbar, versperrt von einem Eisenzaun. 1927 vom Stararchitekten des faschistischen Regimes, Marcello Piacen-tini erbaut, um den Sieg über Österreich-Ungarn im Großen Krieg zu zelebrieren.Ein weithin sichtbares Zeichen der Annek-tierung, der Italianisierung Südtirols. Bis in die Gegenwart eine offene Wunde. Nun führt es die Besucher in die Tragik jener Jahre ein. Zeigt, was und wie man aus Ge-schichte lernen kann. Südtirol zwischen 1918 und 1945. Ohne Tabu. Die Folgen des Ersten Weltkriegs für Südtirol, die vom Faschismus bestimmte Zwischenkriegs-zeit, die Errichtung der Bozner „Neustadt” zwischen altem Stadtkern und Gries, das Leid der Südtiroler Option, die Nähe zum Nazi-Regime, das Konzentrationslager.Fotografien, Filmmaterial, Dokumente werden der Geschichte in all ihren Fa-cetten gerecht und arbeiten sie auf. Ge-schichte vermischt mit einem ethnischen und gesellschaftlichen Konflikt, mit inter-nationaler Politik und lokalen Ereignissen.Über Jahrzehnte wurde in Bozen und in

ganz Südtirol kontrovers über das Schick-sal des Siegesdenkmals und allgemein der Bauten aus der Zeit des Faschismus diskutiert. Abreißen oder ignorieren. Achtzig Jahre nach dem Bau ist die rich-tige Antwort gefunden: historisieren. Die Monumente als Zeitzeugen nutzen. Durch sie die Vergangenheit aufarbeiten und verständlich machen.Wer nach dem Durchlaufen des Aus-stellungsparcours bis unter den Giebel aufsteigt, kann die Skulpturen von Al-fonso Wildt bewundern und mit neuem Verständnis auf Bozen, das alte und das neue Bozen, herunterblicken.

Über Jahrzehnte war es ein Zeichen der Trennung. An der Grenze zwischen der Altstadt und Neustadt. Zwischen Deutsch und Italienisch. Das Siegesdenkmal. Umstritten. Verherrlicht. Verhasst. Seit Juli hat es zu seiner Bestimmung gefunden. Ein Zeitzeuge, in dem erlebte Geschichte zusammenfließt und sich ergänzt. In Zukunft wird es die beiden Bozen, das mittelalterliche und das während des Faschismus erbaute, nicht mehr trennen, sondern zusammenführen.

È un viaggio nella storia recente di una terra nella quale gli echi delle vicende e dei drammi del novecen-

to si mescolano con un conflitto etnico aspro e irrisolto, sovrapponendo e intrec-ciando i temi della politica internazionale a quelli delle vicende locali.Per decenni a Bolzano, si è discusso sulla sorte dei monumenti lasciati in eredità alla città da parte del regime fascista. Un dibattito sempre complesso e spesso in-fuocato. La soluzione scelta, rinunciando da un lato a proporne la demolizione e dall’altro a lasciarli intatti, è stata quella di “storicizzarli” riportandoli al loro conte-sto originario e accompagnandoli con un racconto storicamente accurato di quan-to hanno rappresentato nel bene e nel male di questa terra.Un piccolo suggerimento al visitatore. Si inoltri per prima cosa, nel museo sotter-raneo con l’ingresso posto nella parte po-steriore del monumento. Solo dopo aver compiuto l’itinerario storico salga, dalla scalinata anteriore, sin lì col violino sotto la volta dell’arco. Qui troverà pregevolissi-me sculture dedicate dall’artista Alfonso

Wildt ai martiri Cesare Battisti, Damiano Chiesa e Fabio Filzi, ma potrà soprattut-to gettare uno sguardo più consapevole verso il basso. Ad est, oltre il ponte e il fiu-me, la vecchia città medioevale tedesca. Dal mese di luglio del 2014 la città di Bolzano apre ai suoi visitatori e ai suoi abitanti una nuova finestra su un capitolo importante e drammatico della sua storia. Nella cripta e nei sotterranei del Monumento alla Vittoria, l’arco marmoreo costruito dal fascismo e inaugurato nel 1927 per celebrare la fine vittoriosa della grande guerra, è allestito un interessante percorso lungo le vicende altoatesine tra il 1918 e il 1945. Di sala in sala, di allestimento in allestimento, si passa, con l’ausilio di un gran numero di fotografie, di filmati, documenti, dal periodo immediatamente successivo alla fine della guerra, con l’occupazione italiana, agli anni del fascismo con il tentativo di snazionalizzare completamente la minoranza sudtirolese, al triste connubio con il regime nazista, con le famigerate “opzioni di cittadinanza”, al dramma della seconda guerra mondiale e dell’occupazione da parte della Germania hitleriana.

Photos, films and documents do justice to all the aspects of the history of those years. A history which also contains an ethnic and social conflict, mixed with international politics and local events. For many years there was a lot of controversy about what to do with the monument and all the other fascist build-ings. To pull them down or to ignore them? Now, eighty years after it was built, we finally have the right answer: historicise it, use it as a witness to come to terms with the past and to try and understand it. Whoever climbs up to the gables after seeing the exhibi-tion will be able to admire the sculptures by Alfonso Wildt and to look down on the old and the new Bolzano with fresh eyes.

For decades it was the symbol of separation. Constructed at the edge of the medieval town and the new suburbs. A boundary between German and Italian. The ‘Victory’ monument. Glorified by some. Hated by others. Always controversial. Since July, it has finally found its true pur-pose as a witness to troubled times. From now on, it will bring together the two souls of Bolzano, the medieval (German) town and the (Italian) ‘new’ town constructed under fascism.

The museum inside the Victory monument opened its gates in July. Until then the monument was unapproachable, cordoned off by a metal fence.

It was built in 1927 by Marcello Piacentini, the star archi-tect of the fascist regime to celebrate the victory over Austria-Hungary in the Great War. A highly visible sign of the annexation of South Tyrol, of its Italianisation. An open wound right up to recent times. Now it introduces the visitor to those tragic times and shows us how we can learn from history, the history of South Tyrol between 1918 and 1945. And with no taboos: the consequences of the Great War for South Tyrol, the fascist inter-war years, the construction of Bolzano’s Italian new town between the medieval centre and Gries, the misery of the “Option”, the collaboration of many of the German-speakers with the Nazis, the local concentration camp.

Historische Gastbetriebe haben ZukunftAusgezeichnete Architektur und Kultur der Gastlichkeit

Das Hotel Laurin steht beispielhaft für die große gastliche Tradition der Lan-deshauptstadt. 2010 ist das Hotel als „Historischer Gastbetrieb“ von der Stif-tung Südtiroler Sparkasse ausgezeichnet worden. Der renommierte Preis wird seit 2007 alljährlich von der Stiftung Südtiroler Sparkasse gemeinsam mit dem Landesdenkmalamt und dem Hoteliers- und Gastwirteverband HGV verliehen. Die Liste der Preisträger ist beeindruckend: Die Ehre der ersten Auszeichnung ging an das Hotel „Drei Zinnen“ in Sexten. Es folgten das Parkhotel Holzner in Oberbozen und der Ansitz zum Steinbock in Villanders, zuletzt das Seehotel Ambach am Kalterer See. Sie alle erfüllen die doppelte und deshalb schwierige Bedingung: zugleich historische Baudenkmäler und zeitgemäße, exzellente Gastbetriebe zu sein, wie der Preisträger 2015, das Restaurant Sigmund in Meran. Gli alberghi storici hanno un futuro Architettura e cultura dell’ospitalità eccellenti

L’Hotel Laurin è un esempio della grande tradizione alberghiera del capoluogo altoatesino. Nel 2010 l’hotel è stato premiato dalla Fondazione Cassa di Rispar-mio di Bolzano quale “albergo storico dell’anno”. Dal 2007 il rinomato premio viene conferito ogni anno dalla Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Bolzano in collaborazione con la Soprintendenza ai Beni Culturali e l’Unione albergatori e pubblici esercenti. L’elenco degli esercizi premiati è davvero impressionante: l’onore del primo riconoscimento è andato all’albergo “Tre cime - Drei Zinnen” a Sesto Pusteria. Sono seguiti poi il Parkhotel Holzner a Soprabolzano, l‘Hotel Ansitz zum Steinbock a Villandro, ed infine il Seehotel Ambach sul lago di Cal-daro. Tutti i vincitori possedevano il doppio e quindi difficile requisito di essere un edificio storico ed al tempo stesso un esercizio alberghiero eccellente, come il vincitore del 2015, il ristorante Sigmund a Merano. Bolzano’s Hotel Laurin epitomizes the town’s long tradition of hospitality and was awarded the Südtiroler Sparkasse bank’s accolade of ‘Historic Hotel’ in 2010, an annual prize that goes back to 2007. Se l’organo è lo strumento simbolo dell’Avvento e dei con-certi natalizi, Bolzano è una città fortunata: sono infatti ben 41 gli strumenti censiti in città, alcuni di notevole pregio, e bolzanino è uno degli organisti italiani più ap-prezzati nel panorama musicale internazionale. Claudio Astronio, organista ma anche clavicembalista e direttore d’orchestra, è dunque la guida ideale nell’esplorazione del nostro patrimonio organario. BM: COM’È, MAESTRO, LA MAPPA BOLZANINA DI QUESTI SCENOGRAFICI E PREZIOSI STRUMENTI, QUASI TUTTI CU-STODITI IN CHIESE E CONVENTI, A PARTE IL CONSERVATO-RIO E RARISSIME CASE PRIVATE?Claudio Astronio: La città vanta un numero elevato di stru-menti, come documenta il ponderoso volume – oltre 700 pagine – “Südtiroler Orgellandschaft” che nel 2011 Pater Urban Stillhard e Hannes Torggler hanno dedicato al ricco patrimonio altoatesino degli organi. A Bolzano ne hanno censiti ben 41. Pochi però sono gli strumenti di interesse storico sopravvissuti alle guerre, anche se Bolzano si è im-pegnata quasi subito nella ricostruzione dei migliori stru-menti meccanici. L’organo Metzler del Duomo, ad esempio, è stato costruito nel 1960, quello nella chiesa di Gries è un Mathis del 1971 ma in stile neobarocco, ricostruito dentro una cassa bianca bordata di oro zecchino che risale al Set-tecento.BM: ALTRI STRUMENTI CHE MERITEREBBERO DI ESSERE “SCOPERTI” DA BOLZANINI E TURISTI?Claudio Astronio: Quello della vecchia Parrocchiale di Gries, che campeggia accanto all’altare di Pacher e al pre-zioso crocefisso, è uno strumento del sudtirolese Aigner che risale al 1853. E dello stesso artigiano segnalerei il pic-colo organo della chiesetta di Sant’Antonio, realizzato un anno più tardi. Fra quelli più recenti segnalerei il grande organo dei Francescani, un Pirchner del 1995 ma anche quello della chiesa Evangelica, recentissimo come quello della chiesa di San Giuseppe ai Piani.BM: PROPRIO IN QUEST’ULTIMA CHIESA CLAUDIO ASTRO-NIO CURA LA RASSEGNA “CANNE AL VENTO” DEDICATA APPUNTO ALL’ORGANO. MA C’È FORSE QUALCHE PICCO-LA STORIA CURIOSA DENTRO LA GRANDE STORIA DEGLI ORGANI BOLZANINI?Claudio Astronio: C’è ed è recente: è tornato a nuova vita un piccolo ma prezioso organo del 1699 che era stato di-menticato nei magazzini del Museo Civico e che fu “sco-perto” negli anni Novanta: fu assegnato allora a don Rauzi per la sua chiesa in viale Europa, ma alla sua morte ven-ne rimosso. Ora, grazie all’intervento del Comune, è stato riportato dentro il Museo Civico e valorizzato all’interno della Sala delle Stufe. Lo abbiamo inaugurato il 13 agosto con un concerto del festival Antiqua.

Claudio Astronio, musicista bolzanino di fama internazionale, è un artista eclettico: solista di clavicembalo e organo, è anche direttore d’orchestra. Specialista di fama internazionale nel repertorio barocco e nella musica antica, è aperto anche a importanti esperienze jazz, spesso con solisti di fama come Paolo Fresu e Maria Pia De Vito. Come organista e clavicembalista si è esibito in tutto il mondo e ha inciso numerosi cd, come direttore d’orchestra ha debuttato anche nell’opera con “Orfeo ed Euridice” al Ravenna Festival del 2007. Dal 2012 è il direttore principale della Theresia Youth Baroque Orchestra, ha fondato e dirige l’ensemble Harmonices Mundi ed è fondatore e direttore del festival di musica antica Antiqua di Bolzano.

Die gewaltige mitreißende Musik der Orgel ist eine der Klangwelten der Weihnachtszeit. Bozen ist auch in die-ser Hinsicht begnadet: 41 Orgeln gibt es in der Stadt, ei-nige von ihnen von herausragender Qualität. Aber nicht nur. Bozen darf auch einen der weltweit bekanntesten Organisten zu seinen Bürgern zählen. Claudio Astronio, Organist, Cembalospieler, Dirigent und Forscher der Alten Musik begleitet uns auf einem Rundgang durch Bozens Orgelschätze.

DIE ORGELN IN BOZEN

BM: EINE 2011 VORGENOMMENE ZÄHLUNG HAT IN BOZEN 41 ORGELN FESTGESTELLT. Claudio Astronio: Die meisten dieser wertvollen Instru-mente finden wir, abgesehen vom Konservatorium und einigen wenigen Privathäusern, natürlich in den Kirchen und Klöstern der Stadt. Es handelt sich um zum Teil sehr wertvolle Klanginstrumente, allerdings haben nur wenige auch einen historischen Wert. Die Metzler Orgel im Dom ist 1960 erbaut worden, in der großen Grieser Pfarrkirche wurde 1971 eine Orgel im neubarocken Stil in einen mit Gold verzierten weißen Resonanzraum aus dem 18. Jahr-hundert eingebaut.BM: IN GRIES FINDEN WIR ABER AUCH EINE HISTORISCHE ORGEL?Claudio Astronio: Neben dem Pacheraltar und dem goti-schen Holzkreuz steht in der Alten Grieser Pfarrkirche eine Orgel aus dem Jahr 1853. Erbaut wurde sie vom damals sehr bekannten Tiroler Orgelbauer Joseph Aigner, der ein Jahr später auch die Orgel der St. Antonskirche in Bozen realisiert hat. BM: DIE ÄLTESTE ORGEL BOZENS STEHT NICHT IN EINER KIRCHE, SONDERN IN EINEM MUSEUM.Claudio Astronio: Mit dieser Orgel ist auch eine kleine Geschichte verbunden. Sie stammt aus dem Jahr 1699 und wurde zufällig in den 90er Jahren im Magazin des Stadtmuseums entdeckt, über Jahrzehnte, wenn nicht sogar Jahrhunderte von allen vergessen. Zunächst wurde sie in der Kirche Maria Heimsuchung in der Europa-Allee aufgebaut. Kürzlich wurde sie auf Bestreben der Stadt Bozen wieder ins Museum zurückgeführt. Wir haben ihren neuen Standort im August mit einem Konzert im Rahmen des Festivals Musica Antiqua eingeweiht.BM: DER MUSIKALISCHE WERT EINER ORGEL HÄNGT ABER NICHT VON IHREM ALTER AB?Claudio Astronio: Auf gar keinen Fall, es gibt ausgezeich-nete neue Orgeln. In Bozen haben wir zum Beispiel die große Pirchner-Orgel in der Franziskanerkirche, die 1995 gebaut wurde und in der evangelischen Kirche in der Col-di-Lana-Straße haben wir auch ein ganz besonderes Exemplar, die zwischen 2004 bis 2010 von Glauco Ghilardi aus Lucca nach dem Vorbild des berühmten Orgelbauers Arp Schnitger (1648 – 1719) gebaut worden ist. BM: SIE SIND KURATOR EINER GANZ BESONDEREN VER-ANSTALTUNG IN DER HL.-JOSEFS-KIRCHE AM BOZNER BODEN, „CANNE AL VENTO“.Claudio Astronio: Diese Veranstaltung sieht jedes Jahr eine Reihe von Konzerten mit bekannten Organisten aus aller Welt vor. Der Eintritt ist frei und wir möchten damit das Interesse an der Orgelmusik wecken, gerade auch unter einem jugendlichen Publikum.

Alte Musik, Barock, Oper, Jazz – der Bozner Claudio Astronio ist ein vielseitiger Musiker, zuhause in den Konzertsälen und auf den Bühnen der Welt. Masterclasses und Festivals in Japan, Canada und in den USA, Konzerte überall. Er gilt als einer der begabtesten Orgel- und Cembalosolisten der Gegenwart, immer auf der Suche nach vergessenen Musikschätzen in den verschiedensten Archiven und Bibliotheken. Sein Debüt als Dirigent erfolgte 2007 beim Ravenna-Festival, wo er die Oper Orpheus und Eurydike dirigierte. Seit 2012 steht er dem Theresia Youth Orchestra vor, er ist Begründer und Direktor des Ensembles Harmonices Mundi und leitet das Bozner Festival Musica Antiqua. Claudio Astronio hat zahlreiche CDs aufgenommen und immer wieder spannt er den Bogen von der Klassik zur Moderne, insbesondere zum Jazz, wenn er mit Musikern wie Paolo Fresu oder Maria Pio De Vito auftritt.

Powerful and stirring organ music is a feature of Christ-mas everywhere and Bolzano is blessed with no less than 41 organs, some of which are of superb quality. But there’s more – the town also boasts one of the world’s top organ-ists: Claudio Astronio, organist, harpsichordist, conductor and researcher of old music. He conducts us on a tour of Bolzano’s rich array of organs.

BM: A CENSUS CONDUCTED IN 2011 ESTABLISHED THAT BOLZANO HAS NO FEWER THAN 41 ORGANS.Claudio Astronio: Apart from a few in private houses and in the music conservatory, most of these valuable instru-ments are to be found in the town’s churches and mon-asteries. They are valuable musical instruments, but only a few also have historical value. The cathedral’s Metzler organ, for example, was built as late as 1960 and the main parish church of Gries contains a neo-baroque organ dat-ing from 1971.BM: BUT WE CAN ALSO FIND A HISTORICAL ORGAN IN GRIES, CAN’T WE?Claudio Astronio: Yes, you’re right. The old parish church of Gries boasts not only the famous Michael Pacher altar but also an organ from the year 1853, built by the then famous Tyrolean organ-builder Joseph Aigner, who a year later went on to build the organ in the church of St. Anton.

BM: AND ISN’T IT TRUE THAT BOLZANO’S OLDEST ORGAN ISN’T IN A CHURCH BUT IN A MUSEUM?Claudio Astronio: That’s right, there’s a story behind that. It dates from the year 1699 and was found by chance in the cellars of the Civic Museum, after having languished there for centuries. Initially it was re-erected in the church of the Assumption in viale Europa but it has since moved back to the museum, an event marked with a special concert last August, as part of the “Musica Antiqua” festival.BM: SO THE MUSICAL VALUE OF AN ORGAN HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ITS AGE?Claudio Astronio: Absolutely not – there exist excellent new organs, such as the large Pirchner organ built in 1995 in the church of the Franciscans in Bolzano, and the Evan-gelical church in Col-di-Lana Strasse contains a gem of a modern organ, built by Glauco Ghilardi of Lucca between 2004 and 2010, modelled on organs built by the famous organ-builder Arp Schnitzger (1648–1719).BM: YOU ARE THE CURATOR OF A VERY SPECIAL FESTIVAL IN THE CHURCH OF ST. Claudio Astronio – a multi-talented musician

Old music, baroque, opera, jazz – Bolzano’s Claudio Astronio is an eclectic musician, at home on the world’s stages and in its concert halls. Masterclasses and festivals in Japan, Canada and the USA, concerts all over the world. He ranks among the most talented contemporary organ and harpsichord soloists, and is always searching for long-forgotten musical gems in archives and libraries. He had his debut as a conductor in 2007 at the Ravenna festival, where he conducted the opera Orpheus and Eurydice. He has been conductor of the Theresia Youth Orchestra since 2012, he is the founder and director of the Harmonices Mundi Ensemble and he’s also director of Bolzano’s Musica Antiqua festival. Die erste private Galerie Bozens, die größte. Ge-wachsen im Gleichschritt mit ihren Künstlern. Junge Südtiroler Talente, die in den sechziger Jah-

ren von der Galerie lanciert wurden, sind heute weit über die Grenzen bekannt. Karl Plattner, Willy Valier, Paul Flo-ra, Adolf, Bruno und Markus Vallazza. Aber auch damals schon international bekannte Maler wie Guidi, Fontana, Music oder Chagall stellten in der Goethe Galerie aus. In den Siebzigern machten die Casciaros das Bozner Publi-kum mit Vertretern der spanischen Graphik bekannt, Mirò, Tapies, Picasso oder Guinovart. In den Achtzigern waren es die modernen Österreicher. Gino Severini gesellte sich 1995 dazu, es folgten Pedro Cano und die neue Generation der Südtiroler: Robert Pan, Gotthard Bonell, Marcello Jori, Robert Bosisio, Eduard Habicher, Arnold Mario Dall’O, ...

Umziehen nach fünfzig Jahren, ein halbes Jahrhundert. Kein leichtes Unterfangen. Nostalgie gemischt mit der prickelnden Spannung eines neuen Abenteuers. Am kommenden 31. Dezember schließt die Galerie Goethe in der Mustergasse ihre Tore, um im neuen Jahr in den erneuerten Lokalen der goethe 2 in der Kapu-zinergasse wieder zu eröffnen.

All diese und viele andere Namen werden in der Jubilä-umsausstellung vom 22. November bis 31. Dezember ein letztes Mal die Wände in den Räumen der Mustergasse bevölkern. Werke der Galerie und Leihgaben von Samm-lern. 1964 – 2014 - Fünfzig Jahre sichtbar gemacht. Fünfzig Jahre auf Du und Du mit der aufregenden Welt der Kunst, vergangen wie im Flug. Die Geschichte der Galerie eng verwoben mit der Geschichte der Familie Casciaro, Ennio, Ivana und ihr Sohn Alessandro, der sich in den vergange-nen zehn Jahren in der goethe 2 in der Kapuzinergasse ganz der zeitgenössischen, experimentellen Kunst gewid-met hat. Die Kapuzinergasse, erneuert, erweitert und neu konzi-piert, wird ab Januar die neue Heimat der Goethe Galerie. „Am 31. Dezember schließt nicht die Goethe Galerie, sie wechselt Wände. Schließen wird hingegen die goethe 2“, unterstreicht Alessandro Casciaro. Der Umzug ist nicht zuletzt eine Antwort auf die Verände-rungen im Kunstsektor in den vergangenen zehn Jahren. „Früher war eine Galerie eine Art Salon, ein Treffpunkt, ein Ort des Austauschs. Die Leute schauten vorbei, nahmen sich Zeit“, erinnern sich Ivana und Ennio Casciaro. Heute unterliegt auch eine Kunstgalerie den Anforderungen ei-nes globalisierten Marktes. Messe- und Internetpräsenz sind gefragt, Ausstellungen im In- und Ausland. „Wir ent-ziehen uns dem nicht, verzichten aber nicht auf die Ga-lerie als Ort der Begegnung, darauf, unsere Kunden die Emotion Kunst direkt erleben zu lassen.“ Der Umzug ist ein Zeit-Sprung.

Galleria storica di Bolzano, la prima galleria priva-ta, la Goethe è cresciuta assieme ai suoi artisti. Infatti chi negli anni Sessanta era alle prime

armi oggi fa parte dell’Olimpo dei grandi artisti altoate-sini. Nomi come Karl Plattner, Willy Valier, Paul Flora, Adolf, Bruno e Markus Vallazza. Ma anche già pittori di fama come Guidi, Music, Fontana, Chagall… La famiglia degli artisti però non ha mai smesso di crescere. Negli anni Settanta è arrivata la grafica spagnola con artisti come Mirò, Tapies, Picasso o Guinovart. Negli anni Ottanta sono invece degli artisti moderni austriaci, seguiti a partire dal 1995 da Gino Severini e dopo il 2000 da Pedro Cano e dalla nuova generazione di artisti altoatesini. Robert Pan, Gotthard Bonell, Marcello Jori, Robert Bosisio, Eduard Habicher, Arnold Mario Dall’O, ... Tanti nomi che si ritroveranno insieme per la mostra dedi-cata ai cinquant’anni di attività, aperta dal 22 novembre al 31 dicembre. Opere di proprietà della galleria, opere di col-lezionisti. Cinquant’anni resi visibili. Cinquant’anni volati, vissuti sempre nel segno dell’arte, seguendo con passione e intuizione questo mercato affascinante. La storia della Galleria Goethe è anche la storia della fa-miglia Casciaro, Ennio e Ivana e il figlio Alessandro, che da una decina d’anni si è dedicato all’arte contemporanea dando spazio e visibilità agli artisti emergenti negli spazi della Goethe 2 in via dei Cappuccini.

“Il 31 dicembre infatti non chiude la Galleria Goethe”, tiene a precisare Alessandro. “Chiude invece la goethe 2 e si tra-sferisce la Galleria Goethe.” Nei locali di via dei Cappuccini appunto, allargati, ripensati e adattati alle esigenze di una galleria importante.Negli ultimi dieci anni il mondo dell’arte è cambiato pro-fondamente, come del resto tutto. “Oggi la galleria non è più un salotto, è sempre meno un luogo d’incontro, dove la gente passa, si ferma”, sostengono Ivana e Ennio Casciaro. L’attività di una galleria d’arte si è globalizzata. “Bisogna es-sere presenti alle fiere, portare la galleria e gli artisti fuori, anche all’estero.” La galleria resta comunque sempre im-portante, ma in modo diverso. “Noi non rinunceremo a rea-lizzare mostre, a fare vivere e incontrare l’emozione dell’ar-te ai nostri clienti.” Insomma, il trasloco segna il passo.

Moving an art-gallery after fifty years in the same place is certainly no simple venture. It combines a touch of nostal-gia with the tingling suspense of the new. The Goethe art gallery in the Mustergasse closes its doors on 31st Decem-ber and will re-open in the new year in the refurbished rooms of ‘goethe 2’ in the Kapuzinergasse.

Founded and run by the Casciaro family, the Goe-the was Bolzano’s first private art gallery and is the largest. It has grown in line with its artists – young

South Tyrolean talents whose works were launched by the gallery in the 1960’s and who have meanwhile achieved international renown: Karl Plattner, Willy Valier, Paul Flo-ra, Adolf, Bruno and Markus Valazza. The gallery has also hosted works by famous painters like Guidi, Fontana or Chagall. During the 1970’s the Casciaro family introduced Spanish graphic masters such as Mirò, Tapies and Picasso to the people of Bolzano, in the 1980’s it was the turn of contemporaray Austrian artists and more recently a whole new generation of South Tyrolean artists: Robert Pan, Got-thard Bonell, Marcello Jori, Robert Bosisio, Eduard Habich-er, Arnold Mario Dall’O, …

An eclectic selection of works by these and many others will be on show at the 50th anniversary special exhibi-tion in the gallery in the Mustergasse, providing a fasci-nating artistic tableau of the years 1964 – 2014.The gallery will then move to the completely refurbished former ‘goethe 2’ gallery, in the Kapuzinergasse. The art world is changing, it has become more globalised, with the focus on art-fairs and internet art-portals, and the Casciaros are no exception. And yet they still see their gallery as a meeting point, a place where people drop in and take their time. The new gallery will combine the old with the new.

ria. E ancora: storia di costume e storia della città e dei suoi cambiamenti nonché omaggio alle dinastie dei giardinieri della città che hanno plasmato la Bolzano ver-de. La mostra “Serra III”, curata dall’artista Paul Thuile, ci porta indietro nei decenni. Utensili, annaffiatoi, video con intervi-ste e tante foto d’epoca che rievocano i tipici ornamenti floreali di quegli anni, immagini di giardinieri immersi nel loro quotidiano, immagini della Bolzano che fu. E tutto attorno, su 9.000 m2 un vero paradiso di fiori, forme e profumi, tutto quanto fa parte oggi di una giardineria moderna. Piante (bio e non) per casa, bal-cone e giardino, alberi, cactus, fiori, vasi e vasetti e tante idee per le decorazioni da interni e da esterni. Il tutto accompagna-to dai consigli pieni di esperienza di Mar-tina Schullian e del suo team. Insomma, la giardineria intesa come luogo dove col-tivare non solo piante ma anche l’anima, un posto speciale dove riuscire a coniuga-re persino natura e arte come accade per le manifestazioni “arte & piante”.

A hands-on history of gardening in all its varied facets. An exhibition dedicated to the founder of the

nursery, Franz Schullian, and also to the many generations of gardeners that have helped shape the history of the town. This enchanting trip down a gardener’s mem-ory lane is lovingly curated by the artist Paul Thuile and shows gardening tools, all manner of old watering cans, videos with interviews and a large number of histori-cal photos showing, for example, the floral displays used to organise celebrations in the past. This is all surrounded by a large, modern, state-of-the-art nursery, includ-ing plants for the home, for balconies and gardens, cut flowers, trees, cacti, all man-ner of pots and decorative accessories, with expert advice provided by Martina Schullian and her team. Here the nurs-ery is a meeting-place, with various art + plants special events.

A lla quarta stagione di spettacoli, si può proprio dire che sono cresciuti. E non solo perché i liceali del gruppo ora sono universitari e perché gli uni-

versitari hanno magari incominciato a lavorare: i venti gio-vani bolzanini che fanno parte della compagnia Cababoz strappano pubblico nei teatri e spazio sui media perché sono cresciuti anche artisticamente, diventando una risor-sa della città di Bolzano. Al punto che quest’anno sono sta-ti inseriti nel cartellone “Altri Percorsi” del Teatro Stabile: il 30 e il 31 gennaio si esibiranno al Teatro Studio di piazza Verdi festeggiando il loro cinquantesimo show cabaret-tistico. Perché qui parliamo di cabaret, come dice bene il nome Cababoz, sintesi di cabaret-bozen. “Benedetti”, alla conferenza stampa di presentazione della stagione, da sindaco e assessore comunale alla Cultura, i ragazzi del Cababoz non hanno presentato solo il loro debutto allo Stabile, ma anche le altre otto date che li vedono prota-gonisti sempre in situazioni e con contenuti differenti. In settembre hanno aperto la stagione al Teatro Battisti di

Oltrisarco, in ottobre, il 18 nello stesso auditorium, propor-ranno una serata a totale, spericolata improvvisazione. Il 22 novembre saranno ospiti del Teatro grande di Appiano, il 13 dicembre una serata ispirata al Natale nel Carambo-lage di Bolzano; in gennaio come detto il doppio evento al Teatro Comunale (Studio), il 28 febbraio di nuovo al Ca-rambolage con uno show inedito, il 21 marzo al Ca’ de Bez-zi, il 18 aprile di nuovo al Carambolage con un programma dedicato al cinema, in collegamento con il festival Bozner Filmtage del Filmclub. Altra esperienza stimolante quella in programma su Radiodue regionale: tutte le domeniche da ottobre a dicembre alle ore 14 andrà in onda Radio Ca-baboz. Die Bozner sind große Theaterliebhaber. Jedes Jahr können sie sich auf die zwei Saison-Programme der zwei Theater in der Stadt freuen: Die deutsch-

sprachigen Vereinigten Bühnen und das italienisch-sprachige Teatro Stabile, die sich die beiden Bühnen des Neuen Stadttheaters am Verdiplatz teilen. Aber es gibt noch mehr. Kleinkunsttheater in beiden Sprachen in der Carambolage in der Silbergasse und seit einigen Jahren auch Cabaret. Cababoz nennt sich die quirlige Gruppe, die in der kommenden Saison erstmals auch offiziell in das Programm des Teatro Stabile eingebunden ist. Zwanzig junge Menschen, die schon zu Schulzeiten in Jugendzen-tren aufgetreten sind und die jetzt als junge Erwachsene, noch im Studium oder bereits an der ersten Arbeitsstelle, ihre Freizeit mit zunehmendem Erfolg dem Cabaret wid-men. Im Januar können sie ihre fünfzigste Aufführung feiern, insgesamt stehen sie mit ihrem neuen Programm zwischen September und April achtmal auf den verschie-denen Bühnen in Bozen und Umgebung.

The townspeople of Bolzano love drama and enjoy the many performances of the two main theatres: the German-language ‘Vereinigte Bühnen’ and the

Italian-language ‘Teatro Stabile’, who share the two stages of Bolzano’s main theatre building in the Verdiplatz. But there’s a lot more: fringe theatre including cabaret in both languages in the Carambolage theatre in the Silbergasse. There’s also a quirky new theatre ensemble called Cababoz which will figure as part of Teatro Stabile’s repertoire in the coming season: twenty youngsters who were already active in school theatre groups and who now, as young adults, perform cabaret in their free time. They will be putting on their 50th performance in January, in the middle of a string of 8 performances between September and April at various venues in Bolzano and surroundings.
