Progetto interdisciplinare : The Beatles 1962- 2012

Il progetto ha coinvolto tutti gli alunni delle classi terze della scuola media che hanno lavorato

in maniera trasversale su diverse materie .

Agli alunni sono stati assegnati dei projects : cercare testi di canzoni e notizie sui Beatles e sul

film cartoon “ Yellow Submarine “ che è stato visionato in lingua Inglese.

Le canzoni sono state ascoltate in classe ed i testi sono stati analizzati insieme alle docenti di

lingua Inglese con gli obiettivi di migliorare la pronuncia in lingua Inglese, arricchire la

conoscenza del lessico e coinvolgere la globalità affettiva degli studenti .

Insieme ai docenti di Musica gli alunni hanno ascoltato alcune opere musicali dei Beatles ed

imparato ad interpretarle con voce o strumenti

Infine con la docente di arte ed immagine gli alunni delle terze A-B-C di San Marcello,

hanno approfondito le influenze fra musica e arti figurative del periodo, già evidenti nel film

cartoon “Yellow Submarine” ed hanno interpretato con diverse tecniche figurative alcune

canzoni, esprimendo tutta la loro creatività e producendo lavori ricchi di colori e fantasia.( Le

illustrazioni usate in questa presentazione sono solo alcuni esempi delle tante rappresentazioni

grafiche elaborate dagli alunni).

Inoltre gli studenti delle classi 3 B e 3 C hanno scritto commenti ed opinioni personali sulle

canzoni scelte per le illustrazioni, che essi porteranno agli esami e che possono essere letti di

seguito.

Title: WHEN I'M SIXTY-FOUR

It is about a man who asks his girl if she will love him even when he is old.

I chose this song because it's fun and I like the text . the techniques I've used to illustrate the

song are: felt-tip pen, pencils and tempera. The other songs of the Beatles that I like the most

are: Penny lane, Yellow submarine, all together now ...... ( Dario Ducci 3 C )

Title: Yellow Submarine

The song is about an imaginary amazing world under the sea, full of colors and music, which is

called Pepperland, that suddenly is attacked by blue creatures, like orcs, called Blue Meanies.

To restore peace to Pepperland, a captain, with his yellow submarine (hence the name of the song),

left to go to Earth to take the only ones capable of defeating the Blue Meanies by the music, and

restore Pepperland to normal life: the Beatles.

After experiencing a great adventure, helped by a genius 'little' crazy Nowhere man”, crossing many

imaginary seas and mysterious worlds they finally reach Pepperland, defeat the Blue Minies and

they all come back to Liverpool. Other songs written by the Beatles that I like are: Penny Lane, Let

Title: Imagine

this song is about how beautiful the world would be without racial discrimination and without wars.

Lennon imagine a world where peace, friendship and brotherhood reigns everywhere.

I chose this song because its text is very significant and the music is excellent.

to illustrate this song I used many painting techniques including pencils, markers and tempera, to

color the background I used wax crayons.

I really like the Beatles as a group! in addition to "imagine" I also like Let It Be, Here Comes the

This song says to imagine a world full of peace, without wars, violence and injustice in general.

I chose this song because I like the meaning, rhythm, and because I had a nice idea on the drawing.

This drawing I made with different painting techniques: pencil, tempera, markers and I used some pictures of

the Beatles that I liked as: the group, the guitar and a microphone, I also put several signs of peace. other

songs that I like by the Beatles are: yesterday, let it be, Obladi oblada and penny lane.

This song is very cheerful, talking about different people working and living along a street in Liverpool

called Penny Lane. Everyone goes to greet the barber before going to work and stops to chat.

I chose this song because after hearing , it seemed very cheerful and gave me a sense of fun.

In my drawing I used tempera paints and coloured pencils.

this song is about a district of Liverpool and describes it talking about people who live there and the

things they do routinely.

I chose this song because it is cheerful and very funny.

I represented it on my drawing using , pencils, tempera, and felt-tip pen.

Other Beatles songs that I like are:Let it be, Here Comes the Sun and Eleanor Rigby.

Title: Penny Lane

This is a very important song by the Beatles because in that street in Liverpool they have

spent moments of their lives.

This song is about local people, it describes the people who live and work in Penny Lane and

their everyday life.

I chose this song because it has a nice rhythm is a good story.

In my picture I represented the Beatles on stage, with some instruments and photos.Other

songs of the Beatles that I like are: let it be, all together now, twist and shout, day tripper,

Commento Eleanor Rigby ( Tommaso Ducci 3B)

This song is about an old woman who lived and died alone and

about all the other lonely people in the world. I've chosen this

song because I like the contrast between the cheer tune and the sad

lyrics . I've made also an illustration picture of this song; to make

it I've used mixed techniques: tempera, black marker, black pencil

and wax coloured crayons. Other Beatle's songs I like are

“Yesterday”, “Let it Be” and “ Here Comes The Sun”.

Title: here comes the sun This song is about the end of winter and the beginning of summer with the arrival of the sun. The Beatles want to compare the sun with the hope of a better world for all people. I chose this song because it wishes for a better world, a world that I hope arrives to rid the world from hatred. This song is about winter that is ending and the summer season coming it says "I feel the ice is

melting" or "Here comes the sun" phrase that is repeated many times in addition to being the title of

the song.

I chose this song because it has a catchy beat and when it is winter usually the beautiful summer

moments come to mind.

To do the painting on the song I drew a rainbow of colors that are similar to the setting of the sun

itself (starting from yellow and arriving to blue).

In the picture I wrote inside these bundles of color "Here comes the sun ... It's all right."

The painting techniques I used are two: tempera and markers.

Other songs that I like by the Beatles are: Let It Be and All toghether now. "

Here comes the sun is a song about running out of Winter and Summer is arriving.

I chose this song because it is smooth and very nice text. I have represented this song with

pencils, tempera and an uniposca marker to make bright yellow for the Sun.

I also like other songs of the Beatles as All together now, Eleanor Rigby, Penny Lane, Yellow

Title: Obladi Oblada

this song is about the love story between a boy and a girl who want to get married, have a family

and have children.

I chose this song because I liked the story of the two lovers, and because I liked the tune and the

rhythm.

In the drawing I used the tempera and colored pencils to represent the two lovers.

LET IT BE.

This song is a prayer, in fact, let it be in Italian means "così sia".

The author wrote this song when he was sad and depressed, so Mother Mary came close and

comfort him with “words of wisdom”. I also like the tune of the song.

In my picture I illustrated it using mixed techiques such as tempera and water colours in the

background, and I also used felt- tip markers.

Let it be

let it be talking about the bond that people have with mother maria, particularly in their darkest

moments, when the holy discends from heaven, whispering words of wisdom.

I chose this song because I like its solo and its words.

for the painting of let it be I used two techniques of painting: pencils and watercolor pencils.

Other songs I like are: yesterday , When I'm 64, yellow submarine, eleanor rigby and penny lane.

FILIPPO CASTELLI - 3 C

Title: Day Tripper. ( Elia Castelli IIIB )

this is a song by The Beatles which is about a boy who meets a girl. He likes her and try to be

with her but unfortunately she is not willing to stay with him because she is a traveler and

stays there only for one day and then she goes away.

I have chosen thissong because the first timeI heard it the rhythm struck me

particularly.

To draw the poster of thissong I used : tempera andcolored pencils.

TITLE: lucy in the sky with diamonds ( Andrea Pagliai 3 B)

PLOT: This song is about a little girl who imagines to be in a starry

sky and that the stars are diamonds, she can also see all the

colors as the rainbow.

PERSONAL COMMENT: I liked This song for the rhythm and the story

behind that ..........

in my drawing I used various painting techniques

including the tempera paints, markers, wax crayons and I made a decoupage with

confetti.

Title: In my life

This song is about life and how the little things can make it happy. Also talks about the people who aren't here any more and that remain in our minds. I chose this song because it, beyond being very beautiful, is full of the author's feelings . I also like the rhythm which is very slow.

In my illustration I represented an inscription with the name of the song, and after I colored

the background with green tempera, and I have written with different colours.

I drew on the background the mustache and glasses which are of one of the group members: John Lennon. to touch up after the work I put a broken CD.

There are many other songs that I like by Beatles as: Help, All you need is love, Hey Jude,

Octopus's garden this song tells of an octopus which lives happily in his garden underwater and makes us understand

that happiness and friendship are important feelings

I chose this song because it gives me a sense of happiness and solidarity

With a little help fron my friends This song is about friends and their importance to us, and there are phrases like: I get by with a little help from my friends, which means I'll make it with the help of my friends or phrases such as get high with a little help from my fiends that instead it means I will go on

with the help of my friends. I chose this song because I like his pace and because I find it suits my age, because at my age are very important friends. In my illustration I used the following techniques: gouaches, pastels and decoupage. Other songs that I like are: Let it be, Yesterday, Obladi oblada and Penny lane. Viola Cinotti- 3 C

Title: all you need is love.( Anna Pistolozzi 3 B) This song is about love and it says that in the world and in all the universe it is necessary to love everything : people , animals and plants.

I chose it because it has a nice rhythm to listen it gives me a nice feeling I like it because it talks about love. In the representation that we made at school I used watercolors,crayons and pencils. In addition to this song I really like "penny lane" and "let it be".

Title: Help

This song is about a guy who is sad, lonely and distressed and seeks help from someone, but not

just anyone. He says that when he was young he had never been in such a situation but now he

needs someone to help him to come back down to earth because his life has changed in many ways.

I chose this song because after hearing it I realized that even though the song has a cheerful rhythm

that involves you, the text is about of sad things and suffering. This impressed me very much.

To represent this song I used various materials: watercolored pencils and normal pencils, markers

Title: Twist and Shout. ( Bernardo Bartoli- 3 B)

The song is about a girl dancing the twist, is an incitement to dance to the rhythm of

the music and to be happy.

I chose the song because I like the fast pace and the message it wants to convey, it

gives me more happiness and peace of mind while listening.In my illustration I used

mixed techniques: pencils, tempera, watercolors, and markers.The other songs of the Beatles I know are: all towgeder now, help,let it be, yellow submarine.

Yesterday ( Filippo Coppi III C )

the song is about the nostalgia of the past by Paul McCartney, but also he misses his

girlfriend.

(apparently, because actually he misses his mother)

I chose this song because I like the rhythm and also for its meaning.

To make my illustration of the song I used the tempera, pencils, markers and crayons.

But in addition to "Yesterday" I also like "Let it be, Eleanor Rigby and All you need is love"

The song Yesterday's about a man who remembers the bad things that have happened

since there isn't any more the woman he loved most. Thinking back to his past love

now finished and that yesterday life was much simpler and now the "game" becomes

hard.

The woman he talks about was his dead mother.

I chose this song because it is one of the most beautiful songs in my opinion. In my

illustration of the song I used mixed techniques: I started with tempera to paint the

background, then I used the pencils to make the shades and finally I used the collage

and I dripped coffee on it, I made it dry and then I stuck the paper on the drawing.

I like many other songs of the Beatles, but most of all: Imagine, You've got to hide

your love away, Let it be, All you need is love, Help and Here Comes the Sun.

The song is meant to convince people to live in peace and to be all together happy.

I chose this song because it is fun and very catchy.

Imagine

The song, written by John Lennon, says to imagine a world of peace, solidarity, things that are often lacking. I chose this song mainly for text. I like the words that uses Lennon, his thought and the message he wants to convey. I also like the simplicity he uses to say these things, accompanied by the mere sound of a piano. To realize the illustration of the song I used mixed media, such as pencils, tempera diluted with water, crayons, markers, all shaded trying to make a fairly uniform color without too many sharp distinctions of color.
