IL CARNEVALE A TERMINI

Non c’è una data sicura, ma un fatto è certo,

quello termitano è il più antico carnevale di

Sicilia. Le stupende maschere di “u Nannu ca’

Nanna” costruita alla fine del ‘800 come ci ha

testimonato il professore Giuseppe Navarra.

Il Carnevale termitano “organizzato” è nato

con queste due bellissime maschere che sono

diventate poi le tipiche del nostro carnevale.

Una storia infinita che parte da lontano,

sconfina nella leggenda e si aggancia a

momenti storici che hanno segnato la vita di

questa antica città. Sono proprio loro “u

Nannu ca’ Nanna” che hanno fatto grande ed

eccezionale il nostro Carnevale. Le famiglie si

organizzavano e cominciavano a stilare

programmi , preparare costumi e balli, in

attesa del grande evento.

Carnival of Termini Imerese is the most ancient

Carnival of Sicily. The wonderful fancy-dresses of

“u Nannu ca’ Nanna” built at the end of the ‘800,

as the experience of Giuseppe Navarra. The

“organized” Carnival of Termini was born with

these two fantastic fancy-dresses which are

become the typical of our Carnival . An infinite

story which leaves from afar, it borders in the

legend and it links to historical moments that have

marked the life of this town . They are really “u

Nannu ca’ Nanna” who have enriched and made

big and special our carnival . Families organized

and began to make projects , prepared fancy-

dresses and dances waiting for the great event .

The Carnival of Termini Imerese

Il culto dell'Immacolata a Termini Imerese risale al seicento. L'Immacolata, infatti, è la "Patrona principale" della città e si può affermare che tra le festività religiose è la più sentita ed aspettata. In quasi tutte le chiese di Termini Imerese si venera un'immagine della Madonna sotto tale titolo e tre sono i simulacri che vengono condotti in processione.La devozione sincera e profonda per l'Immacolata si può riscontrare osservando la commozione che si dipinge sul volto della gente quando l'immagine della Madonna attraversa le vie e vicoli della cittadina.Oggi, come in passato, gli emigrati fanno di tutto per ritornare a Termini Imerese per essere partecipi a questa atmosfera e a questo momento magico. I festeggiamenti dell’Immacolata sono i più complessi e i più ricchi di tradizione di Termini Imerese, esistono tre statue della Madonna che sono potate in processione per tutta la Città. Durante i percorsi delle processioni sono eseguiti dei canti popolari tradizionali che tutti i fedeli intonano con le lacrime agli occhi

La festa dell Immacolata

The cult of the Immaculate in Termini Imerese dates back in the seventeenth century. The Immaculate Conception, in fact, is the "principal patron" of the city and it can be said that among religious holidays is the most intense and expected. In almost all the churches of Termini Imerese is venerated image of Our Lady under this title and there are three models that are conducted in “processione”. Deep and sincere devotion for Immaculate may be found by looking at the emotion that you paint on the face of people when the image of the Madonna throughs the streets and alleys of town. Today, as in the past, do everything to go back to Termini Imerese to be involved in this atmosphere and this magical moment. The celebration of the Immaculate Conception is the most complex and most traditional of Termini Imerese, there are three statues of the Madonna that are pruned in procession through the City. During the routes of the processions made of traditional folk songs that all the faithful sing with tears in their eyes.

Da sempre il popolo termitano venera Il Beato Agostino Novello e lo ammira come patrono e concittadino. Tale devozione si è rafforzata in occasione dell’arrivo in città della venerata reliquia del braccioLa nave che trasportò questa reliquia fu accolta in una calda giornata d'estate del 1620. Solennemente trasportata nella Maggior Chiesa, fu custodita in un'urna d'argento e fu posta nella cappella a destra dell'altare, a lui dedicata. Dal 1977 l’intero corpo del Beato Agostino Novello è esposto alla pubblica venerazione nella cappella a lui dedicata nel duomo di Termini Imerese , dove arde perpetua una lampada ad olio, segno di devozione ed ammirazione. I solenni festeggiamenti in onore del Patrono hanno luogo il 19 maggio di ogni anno. Nel Duomo viene celebrata la S. Messa e, a seguire, lungo le vie principali della città, si snoda la Processione. Nel 2007 sono stati festeggiati i trent’anni dalla traslazione del corpo del Beato, da Siena a Termini Imerese. Nel 2009 ricorre il VII centenario dalla morte.

Blessed Agostino Novello

The people of Termini always worship the Blessed Agostino Novello and admire him as a patron and fellow citizen. Such devotion has been strengthened at the arrival in town the venerated relic of the arms ship that carried this relic as welcomed in a warm summer day of 1620. Solemnly carried in the most Church, has kept in a silver urn and was placed in the chapel on the right of the altar dedicated to him. Since 1977, the entire body of Blessed Agostino Novello is exposed for public veneration in the chapel dedicated to him in the Duomo of Termini Imerese. Where an oil lamp burns perpetually, a sign of devotion and admiration. The solemn celebration in honor of the patron take place on May 19 of each year. It has celebrated in the Cathedral St. Mass and, thereafter, along the main streets of the city, the procession winds. In 2007, celebrated the thirty years since the transfer of the body of the Blessed, from Siena to Termini Imerese. 2009 marks the seventh centenary of his death.
