GLI INDEFINITIGLI INDEFINITI

Gli indefiniti some, any, no e none si usano per fare riferimento in modo approssimativo, ovvero non preciso, a persone, cose o luoghi. In forma composta con one/body, thing o where diventano pronomi o avverbi.

Come si formano -1

SOME e ANY possono essere sia aggettivi sia pronomiusati con sostantivi non numerabili o sostantivi numerabilial plurale. In generale some viene usato nelle frasi

affermative e any nelle interrogative e negative:

AFFERMATIVAThere is some cheese in the fridge.

INTERROGATIVAHave we got any cheese?

NEGATIVAWe have not got any cheese.

Come si formano -2

NO (aggettivo) e NONE (pronome) possonoessere usati al posto di any, ma in questo caso ilverbo deve essere alla forma affermativa:

There are no tickets left. – There aren’t any tickets left.Have you got any brothers? I’ve got none – I haven’tgot any.

Come si formano -3I composti di SOME, ANY, NO (pronomi indefiniti) si riferiscono a persone, cose e luoghi che non conosciamo con esattezza e seguono le stesse regole nella formazione delle frasi:

Somebody (someone) left a mess in the classroom.Are you doing anything this weekend?There is nowhere like home!

Vanno sempre coniugati con un verbo alla terza persona singolare.

Quando si usano -1

Si usa some in frasi affermative per indicare un numero impreciso:

Can you put somesun cream on me?

Si può usare some anche con domande che iniziano Can..?, Will…?, Shall…?, May…? ecc…nelle richieste e offerte:

Some può essere usato anche nelle domande per cui ci si aspetta una risposta affermativa:

Chi chiede pensa di sì.

experience, she is only 16 years old.

Any si usa anche nelle domande per riferirsi a una certa quantità:

Some of (plurale) e one of (singolare) si riferiscono a più di un oggetto e sono sempre seguiti dai sostantivi o pronomi al plurale:

One of my friends is a photographer.

I would like to some of those old photos he took.

Some of them are very interesting.

L’aggettivo every può essere composto con –body/one, –thing, –where per esprimere l’idea di “ogni”. Segue le stesse regole per la formazione delle frasi, dei composti e di some, any e no: She thanked everyone for the gifts. – ognuno

I love everything about you. – ogni cosa

There are people everywhere. – dovunque
