Il Festival si svolge in Piazza Émile Chanoux, nel cuore di Aosta, con l’allestimento di una struttura che contiene una libreria temporanea aperta al pubblico con orario continuato, a cura dei librai della città, allietata dalle dolci melodie al pianoforte di Carlo Benvenuto; con uno Spazio Assaggi, dedicato alla cultura del territorio e con uno Spazio Autori che ospita gli incontri e gli eventi del Festival. Uomini di cultura e di scienza, artisti, giornalisti, scrittori e poeti raccontano come la parola possa cambiare le coscienze e il mondo. Il tema scelto per l’ottava edizione è la Svolta e gli incontri e gli eventi sono l’occasione per presentare le novità editoriali, raccontare il tema scelto, affrontare temi culturali e civili contemporanei. Batailles de moudzon (Combattimenti tra manze)

Per l’aspetto strettamente tecnico, i concorsi di questa categoria “junior” seguono le stesse regole delle più famose batailles, procedendo ad eliminazione diretta nelle diverse categorie: manze di tre anni, pesate e divise in due categorie secondo la media dei kg registrati sul momento, di quattro anni e manzetti di un anno. I manzi non hanno ancora la forza, le corna, la tecnica e soprattutto la malizia delle mucche più anziane. Batailles de reinesTra le feste popolari della Valle d’Aosta che richiamano un grande pubblico, non solo regionale, è la “Bataille de Reines”, in cui le “Reines” (Regine) sono le mucche che, con la loro produzione di latte, già anticamente costituivano l’asse portante dell’economia agricola. La manifestazione, che risalirebbe al 1600, prevede eliminatorie in vari punti della Valle (otto in primavera, sei d’estate e cinque in autunno) per una finale che si svolge ogni anno all’Arena Croix Noire di Aosta. Le “sfide” erano incrementate, allora come oggi, con l’intento di migliorare della razza, incoraggiare l’agricoltura, coltivare le tradizioni, il folklore e il turismo. Si tratta di battaglie incruente ed istintive per le vacche il cui scopo è quello di stabilire una gerarchia nel gruppo eleggendo, in maniera naturale, la “regina”. Trofeo Robert RollandozIl trofeo Rollandoz è una delle gare di sci alpinismo più prestigiose della Valle d’Aosta. La gara è aperta a concorrenti che gareggiano sia in tecnica classica che in tecnica libera, con modalità di gara e di partenza diversif icate. L’arrivo dei concorrenti avviene in loc. Chanavey, dopo che i concorrenti hanno completato l’impegnativo percorso che li porta fino ai 3430 m della Cima Entrelor. Nel pomeriggio, presso l’espace Loisirs di Rhêmes-Saint-Georges si svolge la premiazione in occasione della quale a tutti i concorrenti viene consegnato un oggetto ricordo e altri ricchi premi a sorteggio.

Il Trofeo Mezzalama è una gara sci alpinistica internazionale con attrezzatura classica, inserita nel calendario Grande Course ed è aperta a squadre composte da tre atleti/atlete, anche di diversa nazionalità. La gara si svolge a cadenza biennale su un percorso di alta montagna in condizioni meteorologiche e ambientali severe: supera in più occasioni i 4.000 metri ed implica difficoltà di tipo alpinistico. Per questo lo svolgimento del Trofeo Mezzalama è fortemente influenzato dalle condizioni meteorologiche generali ed in quota e può essere rinviato o, in casi estremi, annullato. Quest’anno si ritorna al percorso originale, che collega attraverso il Monte Rosa, Breuil-Cervinia a Gressoney con delle novità che renderanno quest’edizione più moderna, tecnica ed affascinante. Il cambiamento più significativo riguarda la partenza e la salita verso Plateau Rosà. Per valorizzare il cuore di Breuil-Cervinia, le squadre della XXI edizione partiranno a piedi, con gli sci nello zaino, all’inizio della via pedonale di Breuil-Cervinia. Il tracciato di salita verso Plateau Rosà non avverrà più lungo la pista Ventina ma sarà spostato verso il colle del Teodulo e quindi le squadre saliranno seguendo le tracce dell’ultima discesa della passata edizione. Una salita relativamente facile nella prima parte ma che diventerà molto tecnica durante l’ascesa ai piedi del canale del Teodulo.

Le Festival se déroule sur la Place Émile Chanoux, au cœur d’Aoste, avec l’installation d’une structure contenant une librairie temporaire ouverte au public toute la journée, organisée par les libraires de la ville, le tout accompagné de douceurs et de mélodies au piano de Carlo Benvenuto, avec un Espace dégustation, dédié à la culture du territoire et un Espace auteurs qui accueille les rencontres et les événements du festival. Hommes de culture et de science, artistes, journalistes, écrivains et poètes racontent comment la parole peut changer les consciences et le monde. Le thème choisi pour cette huitième édition est le Tournant et les rencontres et événements sont une occasion de présenter des nouveautés éditoriales, de raconter le thème choisi, d’affronter des thèmes culturels et civils contemporains. Le Trophée Mezzalama est une compétition de ski alpinisme internationale avec équipement classique, insérée dans le programme Grande Course et ouverte aux équipes composées de trois athlètes hommes et femmes, quelle que soit la nationalité. La compétition se déroule tous les deux ans sur un parcours de haute montagne dans des conditions météorologiques et environnementales sévères: on dépasse parfois les 4.000 mètres, ce qui implique les difficultés typiques de l’alpinisme. Cette année, retour au parcours original, celui qui relie, à travers le Mont Rose, Breuil-Cervinia à Gressoney, avec des nouveautés qui rendront cette édition plus moderne, technique et fascinante. Le parcours de la montée vers Plateau Rosà n’aura plus lieu le long de la piste Ventina mais vers le col du Théodule. Puis, les équipes monteront en suivant les traces de la dernière descente de l’édition précédente. Une montée dont la première partie est relativement facile mais qui devient très technique au niveau du canal du Théodule.

the MezzALAMA trophy

The Mezzalama Trophy is an international alpine skiing competition using classic equipment, forming part of the Grande Course calendar and is open to teams comprising three male or female competitors, including mixed nationalities. The competition takes place at two-yearly intervals on a high-altitude mountain course and in severe meteorological conditions: at times it goes above 4,000 metres and involves mountain-climbing levels of difficulty. This year it returns to its original course, which connects Breuil-Cervinia with Gressoney via Monte Rosa, with a few innovations that will make this year’s event more modern, technical and fascinating. The upward route to the Rosà Plateau will no longer be along the Ventina slope, but will be nearer to Teodulo pass, and so teams will ascend following the tracks of the last descent of the most recent event. A relatively easy climb in its first stages, it becomes very technical during the climb on foot through the Teodulo channel.
