A fianco delle iniziative programmate dal World Forum on Urban Forests (Mantova, 28 novembre – 1 dicembre2018), con l’obiettivo di raggiungere il maggior numero di spettatori sensibili al tema, l’Associazione MontagnaItalia insieme ad ERSAF (Ente Regionale per i Servizi all’Agricoltura e alle Foreste) organizza il primo FestivalCinematografico Internazionale delle Foreste, dedicato alla conoscenza e alla scoperta delle foreste del mondo.Il World Forum on Urban Forests e un incontro di carattere mondiale, che affronta il tema delle foreste urbane,sottolineando l’importanza dell’impegno locale, della partecipazione puntuale, delle azioni di cura, delle oppor-tunità del territorio e della condivisione delle esperienze. Il Festival Cinematografico Internazionale delle Foreste intende sostenere questo progetto, offrendo cosi allacitta di Mantova la possibilità di ampliare i propri orizzonti. Principi fondanti del Festival sono: la valorizzazione,la conoscenza, il rispetto e la promozione culturale dell’habitat foresta.

Alongside the initiatives pro-grammed by World Forum onUrban Forests, with the aimof reaching the largest numberof people interested in thematter, Montagna Italia Asso-ciation together with ERSAForganizes the first Internatio-nal Mantova Forests FilmFestival, dedicated to kno-wledge and discoveries of theforests in the world. Il Festival Interna-zionale del Cinema sulle Foreste Urbane mette insieme questi temi permettendoci di osservarli attraverso lo sguardo delcinema, della fotografia, dell’arte e della musica. Siamo grati dunque all’Associazione Montagna Italia per aver organiz-zato questo primo concorso cinematografico in occasione del primo Forum Mondiale sulle Foreste Urbane di Fao. E’ con grande soddi-sfazione e un pizzico di orgoglio che ERSAF saluta il World Forum on Urban Forests, che si svolge nella splendida cornicedi Mantova. Affianco a questo evento debutta con la sua prima edizione il Festival Cinematografico Internazionale delleForeste. ERSAF ha sostenuto da subito questa iniziativa condividendone gli intenti: creare informazione, conoscenza ecultura intorno al tema delle foreste. It is with great sati-sfaction and a touch of pride that ERSAF greets the World Forum on Urban Forests, which takes place in the splendidsetting of Mantua. Alongside this event, the Internationla Mantova Forests Film Festival opens with its first edition. ERSAFimmediately supported this initiative by sharing its purposes: to create information, knowledge and culture on the topic ofForests. Al fine di collaborare concretamente con il festival e promuove insiemead esso il turismo, i beni culturali e il rispetto dell'ambiente, abbiamo pensato di produrre un documentario dal titolo "GeniusLoci" che ha come centro narrativo il bosco virgiliano del Forte di Pietole, luogo natio del grande poeta latino Virgilio. Ilcortometraggio e stato realizzato grazie al sostegno finanziario della Pro-Loco e con il Patrocinio del comune di BorgoVirgilio. CINEMA MIGNONCon l'entusiasmo della prima volta abbiamo accettato di collaborare alla realizzazione del Festival Cinematografico Interna-zionale delle Foreste, sia perché corrisponde ad un ideale da noi inseguito, che perché condivide una aspirazione mai sopita:quella di far conoscere il fascino delle foreste ad un vasto pubblico spesso distratto dalla quotidiana frenesia. E siamo felicidi mettere a disposizione il Mignon, una piccola sala, per un grande progetto che pone la nostra citta al centro di un impor-tante argomento e trasforma il cinema in momento di scoperta e conoscenza di luoghi suggestivi, di problemi complessi edi risorse preziose. PIERO CARLESI - PresidentePiero Carlesi, è Presidente del Centro di Cinematografia e Cineteca del CAI, laureato in Scienze naturali, giornalista professionista,appassionato di montagna e componente della redazione della rivista del Touring Club Italiano. Consigliere centrale e direttore ge-nerale del Cai, e membro del Comitato scientifico del Sondrio Festival e della Commissione scientifica Calderini del Cai sezionedi Varallo. “Con grande piacere ho accettato l'invito di Roberto Gualdi a presiedere la Giuria di questo Festival. Come naturalista sono piena-mente convinto che le foreste siano il polmone verde di questa terra e, come acqua e ossigeno, siano indispensabili alla sopravvivenzadell'uomo. Il continuo consumo di territorio a favore di nuove conurbazioni non fa che mettere in pericolo le foreste, la cui estensionesi riduce sempre di più. Credo che questo evento voglia e possa sensibilizzare il pubblico su questi temi.”Piero Carlesi is the President of the CAI Cinematography Center and Film Library, a graduate in Natural Sciences, a professionaljournalist, a mountain lover and a member of the editorial board of the Italian Touring Club magazine. Central Councilor and Di-rector General of the CAI, he is a member of the scientific committee of the Sondrio Festival and of the Calderini Scientific Com-mission of the CAI Section of Varallo. “With great pleasure I accepted Roberto Gualdo’s invitation to chair the Jury of this Festival.As a naturalist I am fully convinced that forests are the green lungs of the earth and, as water and oxygen, are indispensable forhuman survival. The continuous consumption of land in favour of new conurbations endangers the forests, whose extension is re-duced more and more. I believe this event wants and can sensitize the public on these issues.”

GIOVANNI VERGAGiornalista professionista, per la stampa nazionale ha seguito Festival del cinema in Italia e all’estero. In particolare, nel ci-nema documentario, ha seguito manifestazioni specializzate come il Film Festival di Trento.Giovanni is a professional journalist, he attended for the national press the Film Festival in Italy and abroad. In particular,he attended specialized events in the field of documentary cinema, such as the Trento Film Festival.

“Vette di latte” e una perfor-mance narrata e cantata. E’una favola che si dipanalungo il filo narrativo di unavoce, alternando prosa poe-tica a canto lirico. E la storiadi Mom e Nero, due esseriumani alla ricerca del sensodella vita. Due percorsi che siincontrano nell’amore, tracime e pianure, trovandosi eperdendosi, cosi come av-viene per ogni cosa viva efluttuante, cosi come avvieneper la voce, che una volta sve-lata e liberata se ne vola vianell’aria.

“Vette di latte” is a narratedand sung performance. It is afable that unfolds along thenarrative thread of a voice,alternating poetic prose withlyric singing. It is the story ofMom and Nero, two humanbeings in search of the mea-ning of life. Two paths thatmeet in love, between peaksand plains, finding and losingthemselves, just as it happensfor every living and fluctua-ting thing, just as it happensfor the voice, which once un-veiled and liberated fliesaway into the air.

NICOLA BIONDADa sempre appassionato di montagna e di alpinismo, Nicola affianca il lavoro di critica teatrale e cinematografica ad attivitàcuratoriali e organizzative in ambito artistico e teatrale. Ha pubblicato diversi volumi sul rapporto tra Cinema, Teatro e Te-levisione. Per il Comune di Milano ha curato mostre e rassegne cinematografiche e teatrali. Dal 2012 si occupa di consulenza,fundraising e servizi per il cinema e l’Audiovisivo, lavorando per diverse istituzioni come Cineteca Italiana, Centro Speri-mentale di Cinematografia di Milano, Cineteca di Bologna. Since ever mountain lover and mountaineering, Nicola combines the theatrical and cinematographic critic work with culturaland organizational activities in the artistic and theatrical field. He has published several volumes on the relationship amongCinema, Theatre and Television. For the City of Milan he has curated exhibitions, film and theatre festivals. Since 2012 hedeals with consulting, fundraising and cinema and audio-visual services, working for various institutions such as ItalianFilm Library, Milano Experimental Cinematography Center, Bologna Film Library.

NELL’AMBITO DEL “WORLD FORUM ON URBAN FORESTS” - FAO 2018L'obiettivo di questo primo “Forum Mondiale sulle Foreste Urbane”è quello di evidenziare esempi positivi di pianificazione, design e ap-proccio alla gestione del patrimonio alberato che diverse città nel mondohanno messo in pratica per ottimizzare il contributo che le foreste urbanee le infrastrutture verdi possono fornire alla popolazione urbana in ter-mini di crescita economica sostenibile, conservazione dell'ambiente,coesione sociale e coinvolgimento della cittadinanza.

The target of this first Forum is to highlight positive examples of plan-ning, design and approach to the management of tree-lined heritage thatseveral cities of the world have put into practice to optimize the contri-bution that urban forests and green infrastructures can provide to urbanpopulation in terms of sustainable economic growth, environmental con-servation, social cohesion and involvement of citizens.
