Non è passato l’emendamento alla legge di bilancio sui canoni demaniali marittimi della portualità turistica presentato su impulso di Federturismo, Ucina e Assomarinas. Il testo prevedeva la non applicazione retroattiva degli aumenti dei canoni stabiliti dalla legge finanziaria del 2007 alle concessioni già in essere.

The amendment to the budget law on the maritime state fees of tourist ports presented by Federturismo, Ucina and Assomarinas has not been approved. The proposed amendment stipulated the non retrospective application of increases in fees established by the 2007 financial law to existing concessions.

DUBAI BOAT SHOWIl Dubai International Boat Show, in programma dal 27 febbraio al 3 marzo, ha una nuova location, più grande e funzionale nel Dubai Canal, Jumeirah. Dista solo 3,2 chilometri dal Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), Business Bay District. Si prevede un incremento degli affari intorno al 15 per cento. Il Dubai International Boat Show è una delle vetrine più prestigiose del Medio Oriente con oltre 30.000 visitatori previsti. La parte del leone spetta come ogni anno a Gulf Craft.

DUBAI BOAT SHOWThe Dubai International Boat Show, scheduled from 27th February to 3rd March, has a new bigger and more functional location at the Dubai Canal, Jumeirah. It is only 3.2 kilometers from the Dubai Financial Centre (DIFC), Business Bay District. An increase in business of about 15% is estimated. The Dubai International Boat Show is one of the most prestigious events of the Middle East, with more than 30,000 visitors expected. As usual, Gulf Craft will be the leader of the event.

C’è ancora chi si stupisce pensando che le imbarcazioni Riva, icone di stile e di design, siano pensate e concepite in uno studio di Bergamo. «Tutto si è sviluppato così naturalmente che, a pensarci bene, forse non poteva che essere così», spiega Sergio Beretta, Ceo e fondatore insieme a Mauro Micheli di Officina Italiana Design, che da oltre vent’anni prosegue nel creare la storia di uno dei marchi italiani, Riva, tra i più conosciuti

al mondo. «Il lago d’Iseo è a soli 20 minuti da Bergamo e in fondo i motoscafi Riva sono stati concepiti inizialmente proprio per solcare le acque lacustri».

Quando si parla di good design, di cura nei dettagli, di alte prestazioni e di perfetta realizzazione, unita a una magistrale capacità artigianale, tipicamente italiana, tutto cambia: il luogo d’origine delle cose non ha più importanza. In particolare, quando si parla di barche, la distanza tra lago e mare si accorcia. «E pensare che tutto è nato quasi per caso», aggiunge Mauro Micheli, chief designer dello studio, «Non era contemplato lo yacht designer tra i mestieri che avrei voluto fare da grande. Dopo il liceo artistico, studiavo all’Accademia di Brera a Milano ed ero, come ora, affascinato dall’arte e dalla sua potenza: Masaccio, Piero della Francesca, Paolo Uccello, Giovan Battista Moroni. Ma anche da quella contemporanea: oggi tra i miei preferiti ci sono Gilbert

&George, Bruce Nauman e Barbara Kruger, e difficilmente

mi privo del piacere di frequentare mostre e gallerie

d’arte moderna, che sono

sempre fonte di emozioni e di ispirazioni», aggiunge il designer. Non sorprende quindi che Micheli ami disegnare a mano libera: «Nel disegno trovo la concentrazione, ritrovo me stesso». E non stupisce che Gino Gervasoni, genero del grande Carlo Riva, al tempo in cui Micheli lavorava internamente in Riva fosse affascinato da come disegnava a mano libera. Una capacità che gli valse l’assunzione nel centro stile Riva e la possibilità in 10 anni di assorbire tutto il Dna Riva. Poi nel 1994 il distacco, ma con un cordone ombelicale mai reciso. «Spinsi Mauro a fondare Officina Italiana Design, proprio perché ero convinto che la capacità creativa di Mauro potesse librarsi maggiormente, proprio come un artista nella sua bottega», precisa Sergio Beretta, «Creammo lo studio in un capannone: una situazione piccola ad Adrara San Martino, paese nell’entroterra del lago di Iseo. Pian piano ci siamo ingranditi e poi spostati». Oggi lo studio è nel cuore di Bergamo, in un palazzo di fine ’800, nella stessa via dell’Accademia Carrara e dalla Gamec, attivissima Galleria di Arte Moderna e Contemporanea, della quale Mauro Micheli e Sergio Beretta sono soci sostenitori.

Il team negli anni è cresciuto; ognuno ha il proprio ruolo e una competenza specifica. Mauro Micheli è la mente creativa e coordina 9 designer. Sergio Beretta segue la parte manageriale, i contatti e l’amministrazione, l’organizzazione dello studio e il rapporto con lo staff. Questa è l’alchimia alla base di un rapporto professionale che dura da oltre 20 anni. «Abbiamo imparato a rispettarci e a mantenere ciascuno autonomia di decisione nei nostri compiti diversi», spiega Sergio Beretta,

sono i particolari che fanno la differenza contribuendo a protrarre nel tempo il successo di un marchio come Riva, le cui imbarcazioni sono opere d’arte, definite da linee pulite ed essenziali. Barche che, anche per questo, sono diventate oggetti di design esclusivi, dove l’innovazione è volta a raggiungere sempre nuovi traguardi. Dal 2015 sono stati varati due 88’: Florida e Domino Super; e due 76’: Perseo e Bahamas, un 39’ piedi Rivamare che è già un’icona di stile ed eleganza e

«Ma alla fase creativa partecipiamo un po’ tutti: Mauro mi chiede sempre un piccolo feedback soprattutto sulle imbarcazioni più piccole, dove anch’io ho una mia esperienza. Io sono pignolo e in questo senso faccio sempre una lista di cose da non dimenticare sulle barche delle quali Mauro tiene spesso conto. Sul Rivamare per esempio ho suggerito la raccolta differenziata, ovviamente completamente rivestita di mogano lucido». Perché in Officina, come in tutte le migliori “botteghe artigianali”

Ma non è tutto. Officina Italiana Design, da un po’ di tempo, sta pensando in grande, a Montecarlo è stato presentato il suo Seven Sins, splendido 52 metri disegnato per Sanlorenzo, un cantiere con il quale ha concluso di recente un contratto che prevedeva la progettazione di sei modelli dai 78 piedi ai 64 metri, tra cui il rivoluzionario SX88. Per Riva invece, che nel 2014 ha annunciato il ritorno nel settore dei mega yacht, Officina Italiana Design sta studiando anche una flotta da 50 a 90 metri di

lunghezza. Tanto lavoro e tanti capolavori in questa Fabbrica delle Idee, oggi riconosciuta come esempio dell’eccellenza italiana nel mondo.

There are still people who are amazed by the fact that style and design icons Riva boats are thought up and designed in an office in Bergamo. «Everything developed so naturally that, if you think about it, it perhaps couldn’t have happened any other way», explains Sergio Beretta, CEO and founder – together

with Mauro Micheli – of Officina Italiana Design, which for over twenty years has continued to write the history of one of the best-known Italian brands in the world, Riva. «Lake Iseo is only 20 minutes from Bergamo and essentially Riva motorboats were initially designed for use on lakes».

come from no longer matters. Especially when you are talking about boats, the distance between a lake and the sea decreases. «And to think that everything started out nearly by accident», adds Mauro Micheli, chief designer at the design studio. «Being a yacht designer was not one of the jobs that I had wanted to do when I grew up. After attending an arts-focussed high school, I studied at the Brera Academy in Milan and I was, and still am, fascinated by art and its power: Masaccio, Piero della Francesca, Paolo Uccello and Giovan Battista Moroni. But also by contemporary art: nowadays my favourites include Gilbert&George, Bruce Nauman and Barbara Kruger, and I love to visit exhibitions and modern art galleries, which are always a source of emotion and inspiration», adds the designer. It is thus no surprise that Micheli likes drawing freehand: «When I draw I can lose myself in concentration; I find myself». And it is no surprise that Gino Gervasoni, the son-in-law of the great Carlo Riva, was fascinated by how Micheli drew by hand when he was working in-house at Riva. His skill led to him being taken on at the Riva style centre, and gave him the chance to absorb the full Riva DNA in his ten years there. Then he moved on, in 1994, but without ever cutting his ties with Riva. «I pushed Mauro to found Officina Italiana Design, precisely because I was convinced that his creative ability could be freed up more, just like an artist in his workshop», explains Sergio Beretta. «We created the studio in a warehouse: it was a small place in Adrara San Martino, a village inland from Lake Iseo. We gradually got bigger,

and then moved on». Nowadays the studio is in the heart of Bergamo, in a late 19th century building, in the same street as the Carrara Art Academy and Gamec, a very active modern and contemporary art gallery, of which Mauro Micheli and Sergio Beretta are supporting members. The team has grown over the years; everyone has got their own role and specific responsibility. Mauro Micheli is the creative brain and coordinates nine designers. Sergio Beretta does the managerial part, handles contacts and administration, and organises the studio and relationship with staff. This is the secret behind a professional relationship which has lasted over 20 years. «We learnt to

respect each other and to keep our rights to make our own decisions in our different areas of responsibility», explains Sergio Beretta, «but we all take part in the creative stage: Mauro always asks me for feedback, especially on smaller boats, where I also have some experience. I am fussy about these things and I always make a list of things, which shouldn’t be forgotten on boats, which Mauro often takes into account. On the Rivamare, for example, I suggested adding separate rubbish bins for recycling, obviously completed covered with polished mahogany». Because at Officina, as at all the best “craft workshops”, it is the details that make the difference and contribute to the

lasting success of a brand like Riva, whose boats are works of art, and are characterised by clean and essential lines. In part because of this, the boats have become creations of exclusive design, in which innovation is aimed at always achieving new goals. Since 2015, two 88-footers have been launched, Florida and Domino Super; two 76-footers, Perseo and Bahamas; and a 39-foot Rivamare which is already an icon of style and elegance, having recently won the prestigious Eccellenze del Design Lombardo 2017 award of the ADI Design Index 2017. As well as these boats, Officina Italiana Design has also worked, together with the FCA style house, on the

nautical reinterpretation of the Fiat 500 Riva. And last but not least the 100-foot Corsaro, which marks Riva’s return to the flybridge sector, and the 56-foot Rivale. We will soon see the 110-foot Dolcevita, with new design solutions which focus on liveability, and the Riva 90’, with dynamic, sporty lines.

But that’s not all. For some time Officina Italiana Design has been thinking big, and its Seven Sins, a splendid 52 metre yacht, was presented in Montecarlo. It was designed for Sanlorenzo, a yard with which it recently signed an agreement to design six models, ranging from 78 feet to 64 metres, including the revolutionary SX88. While for Riva, which in 2014 announced it was getting back into mega yachts, Officina Italiana Design is also studying a fleet ranging from 50 to 90 metres. All this work, and all these masterpieces are coming out of this Factory of Ideas, which is now recognised as an example of Italian excellence around the world. n
