EMU esprime il ricco know how tecnologico aziendale, anche attraverso l’impiego di un innovativo procedimento di protezione della superficie, volto a garantire un’estrema durabilità dei prodotti nel tempo. Il procedimento, chiamato “EMU Coat”, è stato perfezionato con la collaborazione delle più importanti aziende del settore chimico e dei dipartimenti di Ingegneria delle Università di Roma e Trento. Permette di creare prodotti altamente resistenti ai graffi, all’effetto dei raggi UV ed agli agenti atmosferici anche estremi. Nella prima fase di trattamento il materiale viene sgrassato, zincato e poi ricoperto con uno strato fosfatico microcristallino che conferisce elevate prestazioni anticorrosive. Dopo questo pretrattamento, il mobile viene sottoposto ad un processo di elettrodeposizione catodica chiamato cataforesi, dove il prodotto verniciante viene applicato per effetto di un campo elettrico continuo. Al mobile viene infine applicato mediante polveri uno strato di poliestere colorato che, dopo una nuova fase di cottura, fa assumere al mobile l’aspetto definitivo. Le vernici a base di poliestere usate da EMU sono state formulate specificamente per l’impiego in esterno, offrono un’ottima ritenzione della brillantezza del colore e durabilità, e allo stesso tempo sono facili da pulire e non richiedono manutenzione, donando grande praticità d’uso agli arredi. I prodotti EMU sono garantiti per due anni da difetti strutturali e da ruggine invasiva.

EMU expresses its vast technical skills through the use of an innovative, surface-treating procedure aimed at guaranteeing the utmost durability of products over time. This procedure, known as “EMU Coat”, was perfected in collaboration with the most important companies in the chemical sector and the Engineering Departments of the Universities of Rome and Trent. This procedure enables EMU to create products that are extremely scratch-resistant as well as resistant to UV rays and the most extreme atmospheric agents. In the initial phase, material is scoured, zinc-coated and then coated with a layer of phosphate micro- crystals to guarantee high resistance to corrosive elements. Following this pre-treatment, furniture undergoes a process of cathodic electro-plating called catophoresis in which the paint is applied by the use of a continuous electric field. Lastly, powder painting a layer of coloured polyester paint is applied to furniture and after a final firing stage the furniture piece assumes its final aspect. Polyester-based paints used by EMU have been specifically formulated for outdoor use and offer optimized colour retention and durability while ensuring the great practicality of products can be easily cleaned and require little maintenance. EMU products are guaranteed for 2 years against structural defects and invasive rust.

La storia di EMU si fonde con quella del materiale che inevitabilmente la rappresenta, il metallo, e con il quale condivide molti punti in comune: versatilità, longevità e rispetto per l’ambiente, grazie alla sua totale riciclabilità. La grande esperienza EMU nella lavorazione del metallo viene rinnovata ogni giorno con l’applicazione di nuove tecniche e nuovi spunti senza perdere mai di vista l’importanza di trovare soluzioni produttive che siano attente al territorio e alla sua salvaguardia, riciclando minimizzando gli scarti di lavorazione e usando materiali con il minore impatto possibile sull’ambiente. EMU non impiega nessuna sostanza tossica né durante il processo produttivo né la verniciatura, che avviene usando solamente vernici certificate SMaRT, che cioè non contengono metalli pesanti né sostanze inquinanti come TGIC o VOC. Producendo in Italia inoltre, EMU contribuisce allo sviluppo del territorio locale e riduce drasticamente le emissioni nocive dovute al trasporto delle merci. L’impatto sull’ambiente relativo al trasporto dei prodotti EMU in Europa, è infatti notevolmente minore rispetto a prodotti importati dall’Asia, grazie ad una drastica riduzione del Carbon Footprint.

The history of EMU inevitably merges with the material it represents: Metal. These two elements have much in common: versatility, longevity and sensitivity towards the environment thanks to metal’s total recyclability. EMU’s great experience in metal production is renewed every day with the application of new techniques and ideas without every neglecting how importance it is to find productive solutions that safeguard the surrounding area, recycling production waste and using material with low environmental impact. EMU does not use any toxic substances during processing. Varnishing is done exclusively with products adhering to SMaRT certified product standards which guarantee that no metal or polluting substances such as TGIC or VOC are present in the varnish. Moreover, by manufacturing its products in Italy, EMU contributes to the development of the local territory and drastically reduces the emission of harmful substances due to the transportation of merchandise. The impact on the environment regarding transport of EMU products in Europe in remarkably lower in comparison with those products imported from Asia thanks to a drastic reduction in Carbon Footprints.

Caprera nasce come rivisitazione della sedia Pigalle.

Sedie e poltrone sono impilabili, caratterizzate da una

silhouette snella ed eterea, hanno struttura in tubolare di

acciaio e sedile in lamiera; il motivo decorativo crea un

gioco di volute in tondino d’acciaio, per uno stile classico

reinterpretato attraverso il colore. L’agilità d’uso fa di

Caprera una collezione chic & easy. Anche i tavoli Pigalle si

rinnovano: il nuovo sistema di apertura del tavolo è ancora

più semplice. Le varianti delle dimensioni dei tavoli, i

volumi ridotti delle sedute e l’ampia gamma colori fanno di

Caprera e Pigalle linee ideali per l’arredo di spazi di varie

dimensioni, inclusi, in chiave contract, piccoli locali e café.

Caprera was conceived as a reinterpretation of the

Pigalle chair. Chairs and armchairs are stackable and are

characterized by a slender, ethereal silhouette. They feature a

tubular steel frame and sheet metal seat; the decorative motif

creates a game of spirals and round metal rods for a classical

style reinterpreted through the choice of colour. Its versatility

makes the Caprera collection chic & easy. The Pigalle tables

are also being renewed: the new opening system of tables is

even simpler. The variations in the sizes of the tables, smaller

chairs and a broad range of colours make the Caprera and

Pigalle collections ideal for furnishing areas of many different

dimensions including a Contract décor, rooms and cafés.

MIA, disegnata dall’iconico architetto francese Jean

Nouvel è una collezione caratterizzata da linee essenziali

e rigorose, ed è progettata cercando un’estrema resistenza

strutturale e praticità; una collezione destinata a diventare

un’icona urbana del futuro, adatta a soddisfare gusti

ed esigenze trasversali, in contesti outdoor o indoor, sia

in ambito privato che Contract. La collezione è composta

da sedute impilabili, nelle varianti con e senza braccioli,

sgabello alto e da due tavoli, tondo e quadrato, con piano

abbattibile, caratterizzati da un inusuale piede geometrico.

MIA was designed by the iconic French architect Jean Nouvel.

This collection is characterized by sober, essential lines

and was conceived to be extremely durable and practical;

a collection that will surely become an urban icon for the

future since it can satisfy any kind of taste or expectation

for outdoor or indoor use as well as in a Contract setting.

The collection is made up of stackable chairs (available with

or without armrests), high bar stool and two tables - one

round and the other square – with foldable top, characterized

by an innovative geometric base.

A classic among EMU chairs, created for enjoying onès time

in the garden with style and simplicity. The pressed sheet

metal on seat and backrest presents the distinct striped

motif also present on the chair, armchair and high bar stool.

Practical, foldable tables complete the Segno collection and

are available in three different sizes.

Star è una collezione coloratissima e informale.

Le sedute sono ampie e comode, disponibili nelle versioni

con o senza braccioli. I tavoli, di varie misure sono

disponibili sia nel modello quadrato che rettangolare,

hanno un piano in lamiera zincata a caldo rinforzato

con un’ulteriore struttura metallica sotto il bordo.

Oltre a tavoli e sedute fanno parte della collezione

anche la panca e lo sgabello alto. Star è una collezione

che si inserisce in molteplici contesti outdoor, privati

e contract, adattattandosi bene sia a grandi che

a piccoli spazi.

Star is a colourful and informal collection. The chairs are

roomy and comfortable and are available with or without

armrests. Both square and rectangular tables are available

in a variety of sizes and have a hot dip galvanized sheet

metal top with a reinforced metal frame under the edge.

New arrivals in the collection are the bench and the high

bar stool. Star is a collection suited to many different outdoor

environments, be they private or for Contract use and are

adaptable to both large and small areas.

una originalissima collezione di arredi in metallo dalla

sagoma curvilinea ed intricata, che conferisce agli arredi

un aspetto dolce e sensuale, rappresentando un’eleganza

di altri tempi. Un design unico ed inconfondibile capace

di arredare ed impreziosire ambienti sia classici che

contemporanei. Disponibile dal 2013 in un range colori

completamente rinnovato.

EMU has teamed up with Patricia Urquiola to create Re-Trouvé,

a truly original collection of metal furnishings that feature

a curvilinear and intricate contour that endows the furniture

with a gentle, sensual appearance typical of the elegance

of the bygone days. A unique and very distinct design

capable of enhancing both classic and contemporary settings.

A completely renewed range of colours will be available as

of 2013.

Sedia dal design contemporaneo, Aero è caratterizzata

da una spiccata leggerezza strutturale e geometria, che

la rendono un elemento di arredo trasversale e adattabile

a contesti molto variati. La struttura è in tondino mentre

seduta e schienale sono realizzati con stecche in acciaio.

Con la stessa filosofia progettuale sono realizzati la

poltrona bassa e lo sgabello, che diventano complementi

essenziali per allestire locali e spazi all’aperto. Completa

la collezione una pratica scaletta pieghevole.

The Aero chair with its contemporary design is distinguished

by its structural lightness which makes it a transversal

furnishing element adaptable to any situation. The frame is

in rod while the seat and backrest are made of steel slats.

The same philosophy of design was adopted for the low

armchair and stool, which become essential complements

to decorate rooms and outdoor areas. A convenient foldable

step-ladder completes the collection.

Arc En Ciel è una collezione giovane e colorata, dedicata

a chi vuole godere appieno dei propri spazi all’aperto,

di qualsiasi dimensioni essi siano. Una sedia e un tavolo

pieghevoli dal design fresco ma classico allo stesso

tempo. Nessun dettaglio di produzione è stato trascurato

per realizzare una collezione pratica e resistente: il tavolo

è in lamiera piena antigraffio e il metallo è trattato per

resistere a qualsiasi condizione atmosferica.

Arc en Ciel is a young, colourful collection dedicated to those

who want to fully enjoy their outdoor areas, no matter how

large or small these areas might be. Foldable table and

chairs with a design that is fresh yet classical. No detail of

production has been neglected in order to create a practical

and durable collection: the table is made of solid, scratch

resistant sheet metal which has been treated to withstand

any weather condition.

Arc en Ciel range is enriched with the addition of a few new

elements to create a lounge set up, for maximum comfort and

relaxation. EMU in fact now created an Arc en Ciel lounge

chair version with armrests, for those chasing the ultimate

comfort, with matching stool/footrest and low coffee table,

ideal to furnish lounge areas, in both Contract and residential

environments. The folding chair is also renewed with a new

and exclusive two-tone look, where the chair structure’s colour

is combined with contrasting colour strips, effect that only

EMU is able to achieve thanks to the Company’s technological

know-how. As always, the great attention to details and the

metal protection treatments make Arc en Ciel a collection not

only practical, but also tough and highly resistant to daily use

and weathering.

La serie Cantilever nasce da un’idea di seduta realizzata

secondo una struttura a sbalzo, un progetto che unisce

la tradizione manifatturiera dell’Azienda alla sua

vocazione di sperimentazione progettuale e di innovazione.

Il risultato è una seduta estremamente comoda, con un

effetto “oscillante”, quasi a cullare chi si siede.

Dalla leggerezza e trasparenza della struttura della sedia

si è poi declinata tutta a linea di arredi Cantilever: le

sedute, nella versione poltrona e poltrona bassa, un grande

tavolo rettangolare e il lettino.

The Cantilever series is based upon the concept of a

cantilevered frame, a design that combines the manufacturing

tradition of the company with its proclivity for experimentation

and innovation. The result is an extremely comfortable

seat with a gentle, “rocking” sensation. The lightness and

transparency of the chair’s structure would become the basis

for the rest of the Cantilever line of furniture: two armchairs

of differing heights, a large rectangular table and a lounger.

La poltrona Eclipse, disegnata da Christophe Pillet,

rappresenta un altro esempio di design classico, rivisitato

da EMU in chiave moderna. Schienale e sedile sono

realizzati in lamiera stirata e abbinati a struttura realizzata

con un sottile tondino d’acciaio raddoppiato.

É impilabile quindi molto pratica, resistente e comoda,

perfetta anche per ambienti Contract. É disponibile anche

un soffice cuscino imbottito per la seduta, realizzato con

tessuti della gamma Software.

The Eclipse armchair designed by Christophe Pillet is

another example of a classic design re-interpreted by EMU in

contemporary style. Backrest and seat are in sheet metal and

made to match with a thin double - round steel rod.

This armchair is stackable and very practical, resistant and

comfortable. Ideal for any ambiance including Contract use.

Available with an optional soft padded seat cushion made

with fabric from the Software range.

Il leitmotiv decorativo della collezione Shalimar è ispirato

allo stile arabo di lavorazione del ferro battuto. Le strutture

sono costituite da tubolare d’acciaio combinato a lamiere

zincate a caldo. Il piano del tavolo è traforato con un

motivo che riproduce dei ricami e che riprende le linee

sensuali ed ondulate delle sedute. I sottopiedi sono

robusti, grandi ed in materiale antiscivolo, per evitare

l’affondamento su superfici morbide. Lettino e sedute

hanno cuscini abbinabili, realizzati con i tessuti

altamente performanti dell’ampia gamma SoftWare.

The decorative leitmotiv of the Shalimar collection is inspired

by Arabic style wrought iron. The frames of these pieces are

in tubular metal, combined with hot galvanized sheet metal.

The table top is perforated with a motif that replicates the

same sensual curved motif found on the seating elements.

Sturdy, large, non-slip feet prevent the seating elements from

sinking down into soft surfaces. Lounge chairs and chairs

can be combined with cushions made with top-quality,

durable fabrics from the broad range of SoftWare products.

Marcel è un progetto di divano modulare componibile

che evoca un parapetto su un oceano immaginario.

Il basamento è realizzato in tubo di acciaio e il piano su

cui poggia il cuscino della seduta è in lamiera stampata.

Con soli tre elementi (base, schienale dritto e schienale

curvo) è possibile realizzare numerose combinazioni.

È disponibile per lo schienale un cuscino da fissare alla

struttura, per maggiore comfort e praticità d’uso. Tutta

la cuscineria è realizzata nei nuovi tessuti altamente

performanti della linea Soft Ware.

Marcel is a modular sofa that conjures up the image of a

parapet overlooking an imaginary ocean. The base is made

from steel tubes and the base upon which the cushions are

placed are in pressed sheet metal. Many combinations can

be invented out of just three elements (base, upright backrest

and contour backrest). A cushion to be fastened to the

backrest’s frame is also available for improved comfort and

convenience. All cushions are made with new top-quality

fabrics from the new SoftWare range.

Holly è un lettino dallo stile moderno, semplice e lineare.

Dotato di struttura in alluminio,questo prodotto è

particolarmente indicato per ambienti in prossimità del

mare. Il telo di questo lettino è in EMU-Tex, un materiale

resistente agli agenti atmosferici e idrorepellente, ed è

dotato di pratiche ruote a scomparsa. È sovrapponibile

fino a 8 pezzi e disponibile con o senza tettino parasole.

Il tavolino Holly è ideale per ambienti Contract. L’alluminio

dona al prodotto altissima resistenza agli agenti

atmosferici, all’umidità e alla salsedine. Ha due ripiani

d’appoggio, realizzati in lamiera piena, con finitura

EMU Coat e vernice antigraffio.

Holly is a lounger with a contemporary style that is

understated and linear. Its aluminium frame makes this

product particularly suited to seaside locations. This lounger’s

fabric is in EMU-Tex, a water resistant fabric which withstands

all atmospheric agents. It also comes with hidden wheels.

Up to 8 loungers may be stacked and come with or without

a sun canopy. The Holly table is ideal for Contract use.

Aluminium ensures the product’s resistance to atmospheric

Playa è un lettino impilabile caratterizzato da una

struttura saldata in tubolare di acciaio. È dotato di un

tessuto idrorepellente chiamato textilene, altamente

resistente ai raggi UV ed agli agenti atmosferici. Questo

lettino offre cinque posizioni con differente inclinazione

per lo schienale, e due posizioni con differente

inclinazione per il poggiapiedi, in modo da garantire

massimo comfort all’utilizzatore.

Playa is a stackable lounger characterized by a welded

tubular steel frame. It features a waterresistant fabric called

textilene that is highly resistant to UV rays and atmospheric

agents. This lounger offers five positions so that back can

be tilted to different angles plus two positions with different

angles for the footrest in order to guarantee maximum

comfort to the user.

Spot is the sun lounger with the distinctive oval-shaped

sun canopy. Its simple, elegant structure is covered with

a water-resistant fabric. The Spot design was created to offer

maximum functionality and easy handling, taking the fullest

advantage of the lightweight yet robust frame so typical

of aluminium. Thanks to the foldaway legs and adjustable

back, Spot can be easily closed and moved when not in use,

a feature that comes in handy for Contract settings.

prodotto di EMU: la poltrona relax Siesta, lanciata

Snooze is the result of a reinterpretation of a time-honoured

EMU product: the Siesta relaxing armchair launched by EMU

in the early 1980’s. The main features of the Snooze are its

large size and comfortable contour. The armchair can be

regulated in two positions – reading and resting – thanks

to a simple yet original mechanism on the armrests. Snooze is

available in 5 different colours in EMU-Tex cloth that combines

HAT è la riedizione moderna e tecnologica del sistema

delle costruzioni in bamboo. La struttura è costituita da

pali tondi in alluminio, con finiture estetiche di alto livello.

HAT prevede sia soluzioni autoportanti, sia addossate

alla parete ed ha una copertura costituita da una tenda

scorrevole, richiudibile a pacchetto. Il meccanismo di

apertura delle tende di copertura può essere manuale

o motorizzato (dotato di telecomando). Il telo di copertura

è in tessuto resinato e acrilico sottoposto a trattamento

Teflon, che ne garantisce la resistenza alle intemperie

e alla luce. HAT si adatta a qualsiasi tipo di superficie

ed ha in dotazione appositi sistemi di fissaggio.

HAT is a newer, more modern and technological edition of

bamboo furniture pieces. The frame is made up of rounded

aluminium poles with top-quality finishing touches of great

beauty. Hat offers both self-supporting solutions as well as

those to be fastened to walls and features a canopy made

up of a sliding curtain which can be folded and closed.

The mechanism adopted for opening these curtainsis either

manual or by remote control. The canopy’s fabric is resin-

coated and acrylic treated with Teflon to guarantee resistance

to weather conditions and sunlight. HAT can be adapted

to any kind of surface and comes with its own specific

fastening systems.

La serie Cuba presenta un’evoluta idea di design: linee

scattanti e spigolose per arredi che conservano comfort

ed ergonomia. Si compone di sedute e tavoli in cui il

rigore del segno progettuale dona agli arredi un carattere

deciso. Particolarità della serie è l’abbinamento tra la

fibra sintetica EMU Wicker e l’acciaio inox delle gambe

di sedute e tavoli. La poltrona è disponibile rivestita in

fibra intrecciata a mano con gambe in tubolare di acciaio

Luxor è una famiglia composta da divano, poltrone e

pouf/tavolini bassi in Wicker sintetico. Questa collezione

ha linee pulite e geometriche, esaltate dagli elementi

in acciaio inox e dal fascino esotico del Wicker. L’ampia

profondità di sedute e braccioli, ed i morbidi cuscini

imbottiti fanno di Luxor un arredo estremamente

confortevole. La collezione Luxor è completata inoltre

The Luxor collection features a sofa, armchairs and poufs /

low tables in synthetic wicker. Its clean geometric lines

are enhanced by elements in stainless steel as well as

the undeniably exotic charm of wicker. The deep seats

and armrests and the soft padded cushions make Luxor

an extremely comfortable piece of décor. The Luxor collection

is completed by an elegant sun lounger with wheels that

recalls the style of the other pieces in the range.

Cetra propone anche tavoli allungabili dalle grandi

dimensioni, con piani e prolunghe in lamiera intrecciata.

The teak wood of the frame and the interwoven sheet metal

mesh blend together to create rigorously geometric pieces

which are comfortably sized. Beautiful and functional in

gardens or on terraces, the foldable Cetra chairs are closed

with a simple flick. Cetra also offers large, extendable tables

with tops and extensions in interwoven sheet metal. The rest

of the collection features a sofa, armchair and a rectangular

low table. A lounger of essential elegance completes the series.

Forme squadrate e decise distinguono la collezione Kontiki.

I listelli di teak massello di varie lunghezze creano un

reticolo irregolare che compone le strutture, incorniciate da

gambe in tubolare di acciaio verniciato bianco con piedini

regolabili. I cuscini sono realizzati con tessuti altamente

performanti della linea Soft Ware. La collezione, oltre a

divano e poltrona, prevede anche due lettini dotati di ruote

e schienale regolabile in quattro posizioni. Il modello dI

lettino grande è dotato di un pratico piano d’appoggio

laterale, il modello piccolo è invece impilabile. I tavolini

sono disponibili in varie dimensioni, con struttura in teak

e piani in lamiera o con piano in pietra lavica naturale.

Square, distinct lines are what distinguish the Kontiki

collection. Strips of solid teak of various lengths create an

irregular grid that makes up the frames, mounted onto two,

white varnished steel tubular legs with adjustable feet.

Cushions are made from top-quality fabric from the SoftWare

line. The collection features a sofa, armchair, two different

models of loungers with wheels and a backrest that can

be adjusted to four positions. The larger lounger also features

a practical side tray while the smaller model is stackable.

Small tables are available in different sizes with teak frame

and a sheet metal surface or with lava stone top.

La lampada Floora, si caratterizza per una serie di elementi

flessibili illuminanti in fibra di vetro, inseriti in una

base la cui parte inferiore (traslucida) emette una luce

fluorescente. Ogni elemento illuminante ingloba una luce

a led a bassissimo consumo. Un piccolo cilindro metallico

viene spostato lungo l’asse dell’elemento, permettendo di

variarne l’inclinazione, per un effetto di luce più o meno

intenso e/o concentrato.

The Floora lamp is characterized by a series of illuminating,

fibreglass flexible elements that are inserted into a base

whose translucent bottom part lets off a fluorescent light.

Every illuminating element incorporates a low-energy LED

light. A small metal cylinder shifts along the element’s axis

to enable the variation of its slant for a lighting effect that is

more or less intense and/or concentrated.

Il pratico carrello porta sedie può sopportare un carico

max di 125 kg. Il carrello porta-tavoli può ospitare fino

a un massimo di 5 tavoli. La struttura garantisce la più

ampia flessibilità al fine di alloggiare tavoli quadrati,

rettangolari e tondi di svariate dimensioni. Il set chain

lock è un accessorio indispensabile in ambito Contract

per poter assicurare contro i furti tavoli e sedie. Il set

è composto da una catena e da un lucchetto. La catena

in acciaio inox intrecciato, è interamente ricoperta in

gomma, per evitare di danneggiare involontariamente

gli arredi al momento del bloccaggio. Il lucchetto riporta

sul fronte il logo EMU.

The practical, chair carrier trolley can bear a maximum load

of 125 kg. The table carrier trolley can take up to a maximum

of 5 tables. The structure was designed to guarantee maximum

adaptability, so that it could carry different sizes of square,

rectangular and round tables. The chain lock set is an

indispensable accessory for Contract operations to prevent the

theft of tables and chairs. The set consists of a chain and lock.

The woven stainless steel chain is completely covered in rubber

to avoid involuntary damage to the furnishings as they are

locked up. The lock bears the EMU logo on the front.

Prospetto analitico descrittivo delle proprietà fisico-chimiche relative ai materiali impiegati nella realizzazione dei prodotti EMU.

AcciaioLega di ferro e carbonio, con percentuale di carbonio inferiore al 2%, l’acciaio presenta proprietà che variano in base alla composizione chimica (quantità di carbonio e quantità di altri elementi leganti), ai trattamenti termoindurenti e al processo di produzione. Oltre che con la scelta dell’acciaio, EMU esprime il ricco know-how tecnologico aziendale attraverso innovativi procedimenti di protezione della superficie brevettati in collaborazione con le maggiori industrie chimiche di settore. Nella prima fase il materiale base viene sgrassato, decapato, attivato e ricoperto con uno strato fosfatico microcristallino che permette, dopo verniciatura, elevate prestazioni anticorrosive. Dopo questo pretrattamento iniziale, il mobile viene verniciato con un processo di elettrodeposizione catodica (cataforesi) che costituisce il più avanzato risultato tecnologico della protezione dei metalli mediante verniciatura e prevede una vasca ad immersione in cui il prodotto verniciante è diluito con acqua e la sua deposizione sul materiale da trattare è realizzata per effetto di un campo elettrico continuo. Al mobile, ricoperto di un film omogeneo di cataforesi spesso 30 micron, è applicato, mediante polveri, uno spessore di circa 80 micron di poliestere colorato che, dopo una nuova fase di cottura, fa assumere al mobile l’aspetto definitivo.

AlluminioElemento chimico non presente in natura allo stato puro, l’alluminio è un metallo malleabile e duttile (secondo metallo per duttilità e sesto per malleabilità). La combinazione di resistenza alla corrosione - dovuta al fitto strato di allumina che si forma sulla sua superficie quando esposto all’aria

- e di basso peso specifico ne fanno una risorsa notevole per l’industria, che lo impiega in molteplici applicazioni. La speciale lega di alluminio utilizzata nei prodotti EMU è scelta per assicurare la massima resistenza possibile alla corrosione per accrescere le proprietà meccaniche del metallo. La ricca presenza in percentuale di silicio ha la funzione di aumentare la capacità di scorrevolezza del materiale nella fase di stampaggio, l’aggiunta di rame ha un marcato effetto sulla resistenza alla corrosione, mentre il manganese e lo zinco accrescono la lavorabilità del metallo. Il prodotto subisce inoltre, a garanzia di una prestazione ottimale, avanzati trattamenti di protezione superficiali.

EMU Wicker Consiste in un filo a sezioni rettangolari o rotonde ottenuto per estrusione di materie plastiche composto da polimeri termoplastici. L’aggiunta di additivi perfeziona la prestazione di questi materiali garantendone una sorprendente inattacabilità dagli agenti atmosferici. Questa fibra sintetica coniuga qualità estetiche estremamente simili a quelle delle fibre naturali ai vantaggi propri dei materiali artificiali. EMU Wicker assicura una resistenza perfetta all’esposizione esterna: è inattacabile dai raggi ultravioletti, termoresistente, non teme la corrosione degli agenti atmosferici né l’abrasione. Il fascino naturale del materiale viene preservato ed esaltato dalle fasi di produzione degli arredi, durante le quali viene intrecciato a mano su ogni singolo pezzo di arredo e lavorato nel rispetto della più antica tradizione artigianale.

TeakTradizionale legno impiegato nell’arredo da esterni dal fascino esotico intramontabile, il teak è un legno duro ad alto contenuto di olio adatto all’uso esterno senza necessità di trattamento di verniciatura. Estremamente longevo, è praticamente inalterabile

all’esposizione reiterata agli agenti atmosferici. Se non riceve alcun trattamento protettivo, la superficie prenderà una patina grigio argento, naturale protezione della parte interna del legno, considerata un elemento essenziale del fascino del teak.

EMU-Tex (telo da esterni)Telo portante fabbricato tramite processo di termosaldatura, è realizzato con filo in polivinile ed anima in fibra di poliestere. Ha caratteristiche di eccezionale robustezza a garanzia di una durata perfetta nel tempo: massima resistenza ai raggi ultravioletti, agenti atmosferici, sbalzi di temperatura.

Tessuto acrilicoPer tessuto acrilico si intende una fibra il cui elemento di base è una catena di polimeri composta all’85% da acrilonitrile. La fibra acrilica unisce alle qualità estetiche di un tessuto lussuoso, dalla corposità e dal touch assimilabili a quelli della lana, le qualità funzionali di resistenza agli agenti atmosferici: resiste ai raggi UV, non si macchia e non imputridisce all’acqua grazie alla velocità di asciugatura.

Tessuto in poliestereÈ una fibra formata da macromolecole lineari costituite prevalentemente da polietilentereftalato. Ha elevate caratteristiche meccaniche: resiste alla rottura, alla luce, all’abrasione, non si deforma in modo permanente, ha un ottimo recupero elastico ed è idrorepellente. Il poliestere utilizzato da EMU ha una resistenza di livello 4 ad acqua e luce secondo lo standard BSEN.

Cristallo temperatoCristallo temperato in conformità con le normative internazionali BS 6206 e prodotto nel rispetto della normativa BS 7376.

Analytical and descriptive overview of the physical- chemical properties of the materials used in the making of EMU products.

SteelMetal owes its characteristics of mechanical resistance to the particular bonds between the atoms of the substance. Among the metals, Steel is the main product of the Iron and Steel industry, used in a variety of ways depending on the different types of steel produced. An alloy of both Iron and Carbon, with a percentage of Carbon less than 2%, steel presents properties that vary on the basis of its chemical composition ( the quantity of carbon, its distribution in the Iron, the quantities of other elements), from thermosetting treatments and the production process. In the manufacturing of its products, EMU uses an alloy of Steel, Carbon Fe37 and expresses the potential of the rich technological know- how, using innovative procedures of surface treatments patented in collaboration with the major chemical industries of the sector. In the first phase the base material is degreased, pickled, activated and covered with a layer of phosphatic micro-crystalline that allows, after varnishing, a high anti-corrosive performance. After these initial pre-treatments the furniture is varnished with a process of cathode electrodeposition (cataphoresis) which is the most technologically advanced method of protecting the metals by means of varnishing, where a dipping tank in which the surface coating is diluted with water and its deposition on the material to be treated is carried out through the effect of a continuous electric field. The furniture covered by a homogenous film of cataphoresis 30 μ is applied with, a thickness of about 80 μ of coloured polyester in powder form which, after a further phase of firing, gives the furniture its final appearance.

AluminiumA chemical element that does not exist in a pure state in nature, aluminium is a malleable and ductile metal (the second most ductile and the sixth

most malleable). Its typical resistance to corrosion and oxidation, due to a thick layer of Alumina that forms on its surface when it is exposed to air and its characteristic low weight make it an important resource for industry, used in multiple applications and in particular in the production of outdoor furnishings. The special alloy of Aluminium used in EMU products is devised to ensure the maximum resistance to corrosion possible and to increase the mechanical properties of the metal, through the careful selection of alloying materials and their chemical composition. To be specific, the high percentage of Silicon has the function of increasing the fluidity of the materials in the phase of forging; the adding of Copper and Iron has a marked effect on the resistance to corrosion while the Magnesium and Zinc increasing the workability of the metal. To guarantee optimal performance the metal also undergoes advanced treatments of surface protection.

EMU Wicker This consists of a “filament” with a rectangular or round cross-section, obtained by extruding plastic materials consisting of thermoplastic polymers. Additives improves further the performance levels of these materials, ensuring surprising resistance to weathering. This synthetic fibre combines aesthetic qualities extremely similar to those of natural fibres with the advantages typicalcharacteristic of synthetic materials. EMU Wicker ensures perfect resistance to exposure to outdoor conditions. It is resistant to both UV light, and heat, it is not subject to corrosion due to weathering or abrasion. The natural charm of the material is retained and enhanced by the production process of the furniture, during which this material is woven by hand on each item of furniture and processed worked in accordance with ancient craft traditions.

TeakTraditional wood used in outdoor furnishing of undying exotic charm.Teak is a hardwood with

a high oil content, suitable for external use without the necessity of varnishing treatment. Extremely long-lasting, it is practically unalterable to repeated exposure to atmospheric factors. If not treated, the surface takes a silver-grey coating which is the natural protection from inside the wood, considered an essential part of teak’s charm.

EMU-Tex (fabric for outdoor use)A load-bearing fabric made by the process of thermal bonding, it is a PVC coated woven yarn. Its exceptional robust characteristics guarantee a long lasting durability: maximum resistance to ultraviolet rays, atmospheric factors, sudden changes in temperature.

Acrylic fabricAcrylic fabric refers to a fibre, the basic element of which is a chain of polymers consisting of 85% acrylonitrile. Acrylic fibre combines the aesthetic qualities of a luxurious fabric, the substance and feel of which are similar to those of wool, with functional qualities in terms of resistance to weathering: it withstands UV light, it is stain-proof and, thanks to the speed with which it dries, it will not rot following exposure to water.

Polyester fabricThis refers to a fibre made of linear macromolecules consisting mainly of polyethylene terephtalate. It has outstanding material features: it is resistant to light as well as being resistant to tearing and abrasion, is not subject to permanent deformation, has excellent elasticity recovery and is water-repellent. The polyester used by EMU has level 4 resistance to water and light as measured under the BS EN standard.

Tempered crystal glassTempered crystal glass that complies to the International standards BS 6206 and produced in compliance to standard BS 7376.

Uso e manutenzione

La corrispondenza ad alti standard qualitativi e funzionali dei materiali impiegati costituisce la garanzia principale della robustezza e resistenza nel tempo dei prodotti dell’azienda. Un comportamento rispettoso di norme di manutenzione ed uso, come specificato di seguito, assicura la perfetta riuscita di questi articoli, concepiti, come da qualità EMU, per durare a lungo nel tempo.

Acciaio InoxAttenzione: a) NON USARE i seguenti prodotti su parti in acciaio inox:• Candeggina o detersivi contenenti candeggina (possono corrodere l’acciaio inox)• Acido cloridrico o prodotti contenenti cloruro (possono corrodere l’acciaio inox)b) Sale, calcare o acido (da caffè, vino, succo d’arancia, succo di pomodoro, limone, etc) possono scolorare le parti in acciaio inox non prontamente pulite.c) Prodotti o parti in acciaio inox usati in riva al mare o nell’arredo interno di piscine richiedono più frequenti pulizie per rimuovere i depositi di cloruro e prevenire la corrosione e l’attacco chimico della superficie esterna.d) Macchie o ruggine che si presentano sulla superficie di acciaio inox devono essere prontamente pulite.e) Macchie lasciate a lungo possono divenire permanentif) La ruggine può attaccare chimicamente o scavare l’acciaio inox.Rimozione di macchie o ruggine:• Applicare un detersivo/polish non abrasivo specifico per l’acciaio inox • Test su una poco appariscente macchia per assicurarsi che l’originale finitura superficiale non sia alterata• Ricordarsi di strofinare in senso lineare (non in maniera circolare)• Non usare tamponi abrasivi• Sciacquare abbondantemente con acqua pulita• Alla fine asciugare bene per prevenire striature, strofinare nel senso delle fibre.

Metalli verniciati: Ferro - AlluminioPer la pulizia delle superfici in metallo verniciato utilizzare acqua fredda e detergenti liquidi non

abrasivi e non aggressivi. Applicare con panno morbido. È consigliabile, in caso di superfici molto sporche e/o invecchiate, di trattare, dopo la fase di pulizia, con olio di vaselina. Applicare con panno morbido per rivitalizzare le superfici. Nell’eventualità di macchie dovute a depositi calcarei, passare un panno con soluzione di aceto bianco diluito in acqua fredda. Prima della stagione invernale eseguire una fase di pulizia e quindi trattare superfici, parti mobili e viti con olio di vaselina, utilizzando un panno morbido. Non stoccare i tavoli ponendo i piani a diretto contatto tra di loro e riporre il mobile in luoghi asciutti e riparati. Piccoli graffi o danneggiamenti delle superfici verniciate, dovuti a trasporto, usi impropri o movimentazione, possono essere ritoccati e protetti dalla corrosione con apposita vernice, disponibile presso EMU group e/o punti vendita autorizzati.

Legni: TeakLa formazione della patina grigio argento può essere impedita nella fase iniziale di vita del prodotto applicando con un panno, sulle superfici esposte, una soluzione di acqua e olio incolore, per teak. L’olio deve essere molto diluito. Quando la superficie è asciutta, lucidare con panno di juta. Macchie superficiali dovute a olio o altri prodotti alimentari possono essere rimosse intervenendo in modo tempestivo, prima che il legno possa assorbirle in profondità. Carteggiare la superficie interessata e successivamente lucidare con panno di juta ruvido.

Tessuti sintetici: EMU-Tex (telo da esterni) e PoliestereEvitare il contatto prolungato con sostanze grasse e/o coloranti che potrebbero venire assorbite dal materiale di rivestimento e dare luogo a macchie permanenti, oltre che deteriorare la struttura del filato. Non usare solventi o detergenti a base di solventi (evitare l’acetone). Utilizzare acqua e detergenti liquidi non abrasivi con PH neutro e incolori. Eventualmente lasciare agire il detergente alcuni minuti. Sciacquare abbondantemente con acqua a temperatura non superiore a 30°C. Nel caso di utilizzo di dispositivi a pressione, tenere la punta del diffusore ad una distanza di almeno 60 / 70 cm dalla superficie del manufatto. Se necessario ripetere l’operazione.

OmbrelloniPrima di iniziare la manovra di apertura accertarsi che il telo dell’ombrellone non sia impigliato nelle stecche interne. Per aprire o chiudere gli ombrelloni girare le manovelle nel senso indicato dalle frecce e dalle diciture “apre” o “chiude”: errate manovre possono rompere la corda o il meccanismo. Non forzare mai le funi o le manovelle: se c’è un blocco accertarsi della sua origine e rimuovere l’eventuale causa. Per i cod. 946, 947 e 990, ad ombrellone aperto, inserire la catenella di sicurezza. Telo in dralon e telo in poliestere: lavare a mano in acqua tiepida (40°C) con detersivo per tessuti delicati. Trattare le macchie oleose o acquose con spugna o spazzola morbida, sciacquare a fondo ed asciugare all’ombra. Per macchie più resistenti utilizzare detergenti delicati o smacchiatori. Assicurarsi che la copertura sia completamente asciutta prima di riporla. Non centrifugare, evitare il lavaggio a secco. Durante la stagione invernale si consiglia di rimuovere dalla struttura e riporre il telo completamente asciutto. Palo in legno: applicare almeno una volta ogni anno un impregnante ceroso. Corde e parti meccaniche: trattare con olio di vaselina una volta ogni anno prima della stagione invernale. Chiudere gli ombrelloni in presenza di avverse condizioni metereologiche quali vento e pioggia di forte intensità. gli ombrelloni EMU sono associabili a specifici basamenti che permettono il loro staffaggio. Se si sceglie di posizionarli solo tramite zavorra si certifica la loro idoneità ad un uso normale in condizioni di vento moderato. Nella tabella che segue, vengono riportate le indicazioni sui pesi minimi delle zavorre. La fase di installazione dell’ombrellone e la sua gestione è responsabilità esclusiva del Cliente.

Altre istruzioni generali per l’uso del prodottoSu sedie e poltrone evitare gli usi impropri quali: salirvi in piedi, dondolarsi sulle gambe, sedersi sullo schienale, sedersi sui braccioli e utilizzare il prodotto come scaletta. Alla fine del suo utilizzo non disperdere il mobile nell’ambiente, ma chiamare le aziende preposte allo smaltimento di rifiuti solidi e urbani per il suo trasporto in discarica o recupero.

GaranziaI prodotti della linea EMU sono garantiti per 2 anni da: - difetti strutturali non dovuti a uso improprio o mancata manutenzione; - ruggine invasiva non derivata da graffi o abrasioni da uso e non asportabile con una normale pulizia e manutenzione; - deterioramento chimico della fibra EMU Wicker®.

Sono esclusi dalla garanzia danni alla fibra come tagli ed abrasioni non rilevati al momento della consegna o derivanti da uso improprio. Qualora si intendesse avvalersi della garanzia, è necessario presentare l’articolo difettoso o evidenze oggettive del difetto (foto) e lo scontrino/fattura di acquisto al rivenditore. EMU group S.p.A. declina ogni

responsabilità per danni causati a cose o a persone derivanti da un uso non corretto del prodotto. La garanzia non comprende alcun tipo di assistenza o riparazione del prodotto o a parti di esso danneggiate.


Use and maintenance

The connection between the high qualitative and functional standards of the materials used, constitutes the main guarantee of the sturdiness and the resistance of the company’s products over time. Respecting the rules of maintenance and use, specified as follows, will ensure the success of these objects, which were devised with EMU quality, to last a long time.

Stainless steelWarning:a) DO NOT USE THE FOLLOWING PRODUCTS on any parts made of stainless steel:• Chlorine bleach or detergents containing bleach (they can corrode stainless steel)• Hydrochloric acid or products containing chlorides (they can corrode stainless steel)b) Salt, limestone or acids (contained in coffee,wine, orange juice, tomato juice, lemon, etc.) may discolour parts made of stainless steel if nor cleaned promptly.c) Products or parts made of stainless steel used near the seaside or for the interior decoration of swimming pools require more frequent cleaning in order to remove chlorites deposited on them and to prevent corrosion and chemical deterioration of the external surfaces.d) Stains or rust noted on stainless steel surfaces must be cleaned promptly.e) Stains left in place for long periods may become permanent.f) Rust may cause chemical reactions or corrode stainless steel.To remove stains or rust:• Apply a specific non-abrasive detergent or polish for stainless steel.• Test the product on a stain in a place that is not easily visible to make sure that the original surface finish has not been damaged.• Remember to rub in a linear direction (not circular).• Do not use abrasive pads.• Rinse thoroughly with clean water.• Lastly, dry thoroughly in order to prevent streaks from occurring, rubbing in the sense of the fibres.

Varnished metals To clean surfaces in varnished metals, use cold water and non-abrasive or aggressive liquid

detergents. Apply with a soft cloth. In the case of very dirty and/or aged surfaces, after cleaning, it is advisable to treat them with liquid paraffin. Apply with a soft cloth to revitalize the surfaces. In the event of stains caused by lime deposits on varnishes of coarse structure (eg. antique iron and indian brown) clean them with a cloth and a solution of white wine vinegar diluted in cold water. Before winter, carry out the cleaning phase and then treat the surfaces, moving parts and screws with liquid paraffin, using a soft cloth. Do not store the tables putting table tops in direct contact with each other and where possible, put the furniture in a dry and sheltered place. Small scratches or damage to the varnished surfaces due to transportation, improper use or handling can be retouched and protected from corrosion with special varnishes, available at EMU GROUP and/or authorised dealers.

Wood: TeakThe formation of the silver grey coating can be impeded at the beginning of the product’s life by applying a solution of water and colourless oil for teak, to exposed surfaces with a cloth. The oil must be highly diluted. When the surface is dry, polish with a jute cloth. Superficial stains caused by oil or other food products can be removed by intervening in time, before the wood can fully absorb them. Gently sand the surface in question and then polish with a rough jute cloth.

Synthetic fabrics: EMU-Tex (fabric for outdoor use) and polyesterAvoid prolonged contact with oily substances and/or dyes that could be absorbed by the covering material in PVC and cause permanent stains, in addition to damaging the structure of the thread. Do not use solvents or solvent-based detergents (avoid acetone). Use water and non-abrasive, colourless liquid detergents with a neutral PH. Let the detergent act for a few minutes. Rinse well with water no warmer than 30C. In the case you are using a pressure washer, keep the nozzle at a distance of at least 60/70 cm from the surface of the manufactured good. If necessary, repeat the operation.

Other Instructions for general use of the productOn seats and sofas, avoid improper use such as: putting your feet on the chairs, swinging the seats on their back legs, sitting on the back rest (especially if it is made of fabric only), sitting on the armrests and using the product as a ladder. At the end of its use, do not dump the furniture in the environment but contact the companies responsible for the disposal of solid and municipal waste, for its transfer to the Tip or its eventual recovery.

SunshadesBefore starting to open the umbrella, make sure that the fabric has not got caught in the internal ribs. To open or close the umbrella, turn the handle in the direction indicated by the arrows and the works “Open” or “Close”. Incorrect operation could tear the string or damage the mechanism. Never force the ropes or handles. If they get stuck, check why this has happened and eliminate the possible cause.For umbrellas code numbers 946, 947 and 990, when the umbrella is open, secure the safety chain in place. Dralon or polyester fabrics: hand-wash in lukewarm water (40°C) using a detergent for delicate fabrics. Treat any oily or watery stains with a sponge or soft brush, rinse thoroughly and dry in the shade. For more persistent stains use a gentle detergent or stain remover. Make sure that the fabric is completely dry before putting it away. Do not spin dry. Avoid dry cleaning. For the winter, it is advisable to remove the fabric from the structure and allow it to dry completely before putting it away. Wooden pole: apply a wax-based wood-stainer at least once a year before the winter season. Close the umbrella when the weather conditions are unsuitable, i.e. strong wind or heavy rain. EMU umbrellas can be combined with special bases enabling them to be bracketed into place. If it is decided to position an EMU umbrella using ballast only, their suitability for use in conditions of moderate wind is certified. The following table indicates the minimum ballast weights. The Customer is the sole party responsible for installing and managing the umbrella.

Warranty

The products of the EMU line are offered with a two-years warranty against:- structural faults not resulting from improper use or lack of maintenance;- invasive corrosion not produced by scratches or abrasions from use and not removable through normal cleaning and maintenance;

- chemical decay of the EMU Wicker® fibre.Any damage to the fibre such as cuts and abrasions not found upon delivery or resulting from improper use shall be excluded. In the case which the warranty is claimed, the faulty item or objective evidence of the fault (pictures) must be submitted together with the sales receipt/invoice from the

retailer. EMU group S.p.A. declines any liability for any damage to properties or individuals deriving from an incorrect use of the product. The warranty does not include any kind of assistance or repair of the product or any damaged part thereof.
