Carissimi Amici, Le pagine del calendario si sfogliano senza aspettare il tempo che corre frettolosamente ad annunciare l'arrivo di Settembre. Con tanta tristezza diamo un addio all'estate, mari e monti fino all'anno venturo. Le vacanze sono terminate e riprendiamo le nostre attivita' quotidiane. Spero che avete trascorso una stupenda estate e portato tanti splendidi ricordi da condividere con le vostra famiglia ed amici. Vi ricordo che il primo Dinner Dance del Circolo è il 10 di Ottobre 2015 di tema " BALLO IN MASCHERA”dove il migliore costume sarà premiato. Due settimane prima del ballo, la signora Clara Spadavecchia o Mary Maggio vi telefoneranno per ricordarvi questa importante data. È importante rispondere per riservare il vostro tavolo. Se per qualche motivo dovete cancellare, per favore fatecelo sapere. Vi prego di leggere il Bollettino perchè tutti gli eventi partendo da Ottobre 2015 fino a Giugno 2016 sono elencati nel Calendario incluso l'indirizzo e il numero di telefono del Woodlands Country Club, quindi, riservate queste date. Mi raccomando, portate i vostri amici e parenti. Vi aspetto numerosi. Affettuosi saluti e arrivederci a presto. My dearest Friends, Time rapidly moves forward turning the pages of the calendar soon announcing the arrival of September. With much sadness we say goodbye to the summer, moun-tains and shores until next year. Vacation time is over, we settle down and go back to our daily activities. I hope you had a stupendous summer and have many splendid memories to share with family and friends. I would like to remind everyone that the first Dinner Dance of the Circolo is October 10, 2015 the theme is ''BALLO IN MASCHERA'' where the best costume will be awarded. Two weeks before the Dance Mrs. Clara Spadavecchia o Mary Maggio will telephone to remind you of this important date. It is also important to reply in order to re-serve your table. If for any reason you need to cancel please let us know. Please read the Bollettino. All the Events starting from October 10, 2015 through June 2016 are listed in the calendar including the address and telephone number of the Woodlands Country Club. Announcing the 2015-16 Season of the Tampa Bay Opera, Incorporated. See their website: www.tbopera.net . For many years, the Tampa Bay Opera was Florida's top op-era company on a list. Their Music Director is Maestro Donald Covert and he is trying to mount a whole production of an opera with sets, costumes, chorus, soloists, opera stars and together with a fully professional or-chestra in the Tampa Bay area or in any area of Florida. Presenters should contact Donald on his cell at number # (561) 853-4898, or send him an email to: Tampabayopera@aol.com . Maestro Covert is also Music Director of the South Florida Philharmonic and recently conducted Stravinsky's: A Soldier's Tale with them. He is one of two Americans to have graduated from the largest and finest music school on the planet: The University of Music in Vienna. He has also conducted the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra and the Hungarian Symphony Orchestra.

He has been rehearsing with the opera soloists in Tampa for the past five years with their Pianist-Repiteur Rena Massey, and is sure that a full production with orchestra is due.

Anyone interested in having us mount a full production, could attend the weekly rehearsals of the full opera repertoire, and the concerts with piano monthly as seen in the website, at the Pinellas Park Performing Arts Center, and would be informed of all our artistic details and all the perform-ance possibilities. We are approved for a Matchpay Grant if someone puts up 5K, the government will match that. The Tampa Bay Opera is a 501c (3) corporation. The matchpay Grant is through the Cultural Affairs Division in Tallahassee.

TEN FOODS WITH DISGUSTING NAMES— RICETTE DI CIBI CON NOMI STRANI

1. Vermicelli - Measuring between 2.08 and 2.14 millime-

tres in diameter - only slightly wider than spaghetti - this

pasta means "little worms" in Italian. You don't really need

to use your imagination to figure out why. But don't let the

name put you off. Vermicelli can be delicious, especially

when served in a puttanesca sauce

2. Spaghetti alla puttanesca - This pasta dish consisting

of anchovies, olives and tomatoes translates literally as

"spaghetti in whore's style". What on earth does it have to do

with prostitutes, you ask. There are several stories about

how the dish got its saucy name. The only thing that is cer-

tain is that its origins are fairly recent.

3. Strozzapreti - Another pasta shape with an odd name is strozzapreti, which translates as “priest chokers”. Several tales ac-

count for the etymology of the pasta, the most enjoyable being that gluttonous priests used to gorge themselves on it until some

of them, quite literally, choked to death.

4. Salame di Felino - No need to panic, cat lovers. Yes, technically this does mean "feline salami" but Felino also happens to be

a charming town in the northern Italian region of Emilia-Romagna where they make excellent

salami.

5. Calzone - These spherical folded pizza slices are popular around the world, but did you know

what the word means in Italian? In Italian a calzone means a "stocking" or a "trouser leg". Still

hungry?

6. Linguine - A steaming dish of "little tongues"? Yes please. Spaghetti's odd cousin gets its

name from its elliptical shape that resembles a tongue. Originally from the port city of Genoa, the

pasta is great with pesto or seafood.

7. Palle del nonno - The name of this Umbrian salami, which translates literally as "grandpa's

balls", doesn't exactly set one's mouth watering. Fortunately, no grandfathers were harmed in the

making of the salami and it's made from 100 percent pork.

8. Coglioni di mulo - Noticing a theme here? This salami goes

by the name of "mule's balls" owing to it's slightly scrotum-esque

shape that is somewhere between a cylinder and an orb. The

name is not only disgusting, it's misleading too: much like

grandpa's balls, mules balls are made from 100 percent pork.

9. Barba di frate - "Friar's beard" is another name for agretti,

a wiry Italian green that is all the rage among top chefs at the

moment. The reason for its popularity is simple: tossed in a pan

with some butter, salt, pepper and lemon juice the stringy veg is

way more succulent than its name suggests.

10. Orecchiette - How about a plate of "little ears"? That's

what the name of the flat disk-shaped pasta from the southern

region of Puglia means. They do kind of resemble small ears too, although if your ears actually do look like orecchiette you proba-

bly have a problem you might want to see a doctor about.

Ingredienti: 2 uova grandi gr.150 di farina 00 gr.120 di zucchero semolato un cucchiaino di cannella in polvere un chiodo di garofano tritato una bustina di lievito vanigliato gr.150 di cioccolato fondente 1 bicchiere di latte 2 grosse pere mature Per la copertura: gr.150 di cioccolato fondente 4-5 cucchiai di latte gr.200 di zucchero a velo 3-4 cucchiai di acqua 2-3 gocce di limone Sbuccia le pere e tagliale a dadini.

Dividi i tuorli dagli albumi.

Monta gli albumi a neve ben ferma.

Monta i tuorli con lo zucchero semolato fino a renderli chiari e spumosi, aggiungi ora la farina, il

lievito vanigliato , la cannella e il chiodo di garofano e amalgama il tutto.

Sciogli gr.150 di cioccolato fondente con un bicchiere di latte e aggiungilo al composto, aggiungi anche le pere e amalgama, a questo punto unisci anche gli albumi montati a neve e amalgama molto delicatamente per non smontare il composto.

Spruzza di spray antiaderente uno stampo da plum cake, versaci il composto e cuoci in forno a bagnomaria per 30-35 minuti a 180°.

Trascorso questo tempo controlla la cottura, sforna la torta e trasferiscila su una griglia per dolci.

Sciogli il rimanente cioccolato con il latte fino ad ottenere una crema sufficientemente fluida con la quale coprirai il dolce, aspetta che la cioccolata si raffreddi e prepara la glassa.

Versa in una bastardella lo zucchero a velo, aggiungi un paio di cucchiai d'acqua e se vuoi anche 2-

3 gocce di limone e amalgama con le fruste. Aiutandoti con le fruste o con 2 forchette o con un piccolo bricco, versa la glassa di zucchero sulla

glassa di cioccolato in modo da ottenere delle righe irregolari come quelle della foto.
