The exhibition shows to the vital underground life systems of the plants that blossom and thrive above the earth. A 200-me-tre multimedia tour excavated from the rock leads to a world that is invisible to the eyes: directly to the beating, flourishing heart of the plants on the surface.

Dennis Oppenheim è riconosciuto internazionalmente per il suo atteggiamento radicale, che nelle sue opere ha spesso ribaltato gli schemi. Oppenheim è stato una figura chiave degli anni Ses-santa e Settanta del Novecento, un ribelle capace di sollevare polemica ad ogni nuovo lavoro. Merano Arte espone otto grandi installazioni fra le sue più significative.

Dennis Oppenheim is known for his radical attitude: he willingly turns things on their head in his works. Oppenheim was a key figure of the art of the 1960s and 1970s – a rebel who made nu-merous protests through his work. Merano Arte is showing eight significant objects from his important work. Un piano della galleria di Merano Arte, sarà dedicato nel corso dell’estate ad artisti altoatesini. Per un intero mese ciascuno, gli artisti Laner, Pohl ed Hofer esporranno le loro opere al terzo piano dell’edificio. Questo progetto intende dare agli artisti l’opportunità di presen-tare al pubblico il proprio lavoro, adattandolo e rielaborandolo per gli spazi della galleria, in una forma di presentazione del tutto originale.

One floor will throughout the summer be dedicated to South Ty-rolean artists. For one month each, new works by Laner, Pohl and Hofer will appear on the third floor of the gallery. This project allows the artists to present new works to the public on condi-tion that they themselves get involved on the premises. The aim is a completely new form of presentation.

Merano Arte dedica a questo particolare momento storico un progetto di ampio respiro, che comprende la mostra nell’au-tunno 2012 ed un ricco catalogo di approfondimento. In un’epo-ca in cui le tensioni fra i gruppi linguistici erano piuttosto accese, il mondo degli artisti è riuscito a creare insospettabili relazioni, a far conoscere il proprio lavoro su un piano internazionale ed a superare i numerosi confini. Le arti figurative saranno al centro della mostra, ma il progetto indaga anche gli sviluppi paralleli nelle altre arti, come la musica, la letteratura, il cinema, così come quelli imprescindibili della società e dell’economia.

The city of Merano experienced an unbelievable and surprising cultural and artistic boom after the Second World War. Merano Arte follows this development in a large-scale project, with an exhibition and a publication to come in autumn 2012. Despite the tensions between the different language groups at the time, many artists were able to create works at an international level and network beyond national borders. Nel 2012 Merano Arte e l’Associazione Conductus propongono due concerti in parallelo alle mostre in corso. Il primo concerto (con la direzione di Marcello Fera) sarà dedicato all’architettura ed ai suoi legami con la musica, il secondo sarà un omaggio mu-sicale all’amicizia dei tre cibernetici Valentin von Breitenberg, Ernst von Glasersfeld e Silvio Ceccato.

Two performances are being held in 2012 together with the Con-ductus Association: one concert about architecture under the direction of Marcello Fera and a second in autumn on the friend-ship of the three cyberneticists Valentin von Breitenberg, Ernst von Glasersfeld and Silvio Ceccato.
