Grazie al sistema di posa autobloccante,COTTOBLOC è quanto di meno invasivo si possaimmaginare per l’ambiente poiché, se sidovessero verificare cambi di destinazioned’uso o interventi di manutenzione, lapavimentazione potrà essere facilmente rimossacon la possibilità di riutilizzare gli stessimattoni, la ghiaia e la sabbia.

Thanks to its self-blocking system oflaying, COTTOBLOC does as little harm to theenvironment as it is possible to imagine: shouldit be necessary to make functional changes orcarry out maintenance work, the paving caneasily be removed and the same bricks, graveland sand used all over again.

fino ad oraimpensabili.

I l mattone COTTOBLOC essendo di categoriaFP100, cioè sottoposto a 100 cicli di

gelo/disgelo, secondo le modalità previste dallanorma Europea UNI EN 1344 - Elementi per lapavimentazione in laterizio -, è risultatoresistente al gelo senza presentare la comparsadi difetti. La resistenza e la conseguentedurabilità è garantita dal bassissimoassorbimento dei mattoni, che dalla stessa provaè risultato intorno al 5%.

Quando è necessario realizzare percorsiantisdrucciolevoli e/o quando viene richiesto,per ragioni di sicurezza, che la superficie dicalpestio abbia un coefficiente di attritosuperiore al valore di 0,74 (cioè eccellentesecondo il metodo B.C.R.A.), sia supavimentazione asciutta, sia su pavimentazionebagnata, i mattoni COTTOBLOC si configuranocome soluzione ideale.

Frost-resistant, non-slip

The latest technical data showthat its extremely low

absorption of water makesCOTTOBLOC resistant to frost,

opening up the possibility of itsuse in climatic situations that

were hitherto unthinkable.

A ssigned to category FP100, i.e. subjected to100 cycles of freezing and thawing in

accordance with the procedures laid down inEuropean standard UNI EN 1344 - Elements forBrick Paving, the COTTOBLOC brick has beenshown withstand frost without the appearanceof defects. This resistance and the consequentdurability is guaranteed by the very low level ofabsorption of water by the bricks, which thesame test has shown to be around 5%.

When it is necessary to create non-slippaths and/or when the surface is required, forsafety reasons, to have a coefficient of frictionin excess of 0.74 (B.C.R.A. method, i.e.excellent), under dry as well as wet conditions,COTTOBLOC bricks offer an ideal solution.

giunto flessibile con vibrocompattazione deisingoli elementi senza il danneggiamento che siavrebbe in presenza di spigoli vivi.

I giunti tra i mattoni vengono intasati consabbia: questa particolarità, oltre a favorirel’autobloccanza verticale, consente di disporredi un vasto reticolo di giunti che crea una via didrenaggio per le acque meteoriche.

Per gli articoli a lato liscio i giunti possonoessere realizzati dell’ampiezza di 3 o 4 mm infase di posa in opera, mentre per gli articoli condistanziatore le fughe si formanoobbligatoriamente semplicemente accostando imattoni.

The chamfer, namely bevelledarris on paver, makes it perfectfor dry laying. This favours the

drainage of outdoor paving.Cottobloc can be with or without

spacer nibs.

T he bevel, an essential characteristic inmechanical laying, also permits the laying

of individual elements with flexible joints usingvibro-compaction without the damage thatwould be caused by sharp edges.

The joints between the bricks are filledwith sand: in addition to facilitating the verticalblocking, this provides an extensive network ofchannels through which rainwater can drainaway.

Regarding to the articles with smooth sideface, the joints by around 3 or 4 mm arerealized during the phase of installing bricks;while, speaking about the articles with spacernibs, the joints are obligatorily create simplyplacing the bricks close together.

ISTRUZIONI PER LA POSA IN OPERAA GIUNTO FLESSIBILE

PPrreeddiissppoossiizziioonnee ddeell ssoottttooffoonnddooLo spessore e la composizione del sottofondo sonouguali a quelli normalmente richiesti per lacostruzione di pavimentazioni convenzionali. Lecaratteristiche del sottofondo sono strettamentelegate al tipo di terreno, alla sua deformabilità e allivello dei carichi a cui la pavimentazione saràsottoposta.

PPiiaannoo ddii ffiinniittuurraa ddeell ssoottttooffoonnddooLa realizzazione del piano di finitura delsottofondo rappresenta la base per le successivefasi di posa in opera; per questo motivo il pianostesso deve rispettare tutte le caratteristiche diprogetto, in particolare bisogna avere cura diimpostare le pendenze che comunque non devonoessere inferiori al 1%.

PPoossaa iinn ooppeerraa ddeeii ccoorrddoollii ddii ccoonntteenniimmeennttooPer completare la prima fase dell’opera sono dapredisporre eventuali canalette e cordoli dicontenimento del manto che devono essere fissatimediante un rinfianco agli elementi di fondazione.

SStteessuurraa ddeell tteessssuuttoo ddii ggeeootteessssiilleeTra il riporto di posa e il piano di finitura è semprebuona norma inserire un geotessile di “tessuto nontessuto” sintetico per evitare che la sabbia diallettamento passi nello strato sottostante.

LLiivveellllaammeennttoo ddeell rriippoorrttoo ddii ppoossaaIl riporto di posa deve essere formatopreferibilmenti da sabbia di frantumazione (risetta)con una granulometria non superiore ai 7 mm. econ almeno l’80% contenuto sotto i 4 mm., privadi sali e di altre sostanze inquinanti.Lo spessore dello strato di sabbia, a compattazioneavvenuta, deve risultare di 30-50 mm.

La posa del mattone COTTOBLOC viene eseguitamantenendo una fuga costante di 3-5 mm. Imattoni devono inoltre essere sistemati ad unaquota di 10-15 mm. al di sopra di quella previstaper il piano di calpestio del pavimento finito.

avviene utilizzando il vibrocostipatore a piastramunito di suola in gomma e del peso di 60 kgcirca. Una volta compattata la pavimentazione, sidistribuisce sul pavimento sabbia pulita e asciuttadi granulometria non superiore ai 0,5 mm. chedurante gli ultimi passaggi penetra nei giunti fino ariempirli completamente.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALLATIONWITH FLEXIBLE JOINTS

PPrreeppaarriinngg tthhee ssuubbssttrraatteeThe thickness and composition of the substrateare the same as required for the construction ofconventional flooring. The characteristics of thesubstrate are strictly linked with the type ofground, its deformability and the level of load towhich the flooring will be subject.

FFiinniisshh ssuurrffaaccee ooff tthhee ssuubbssttrraatteeThe finish surface of the substrate constitutes thebase for the subsequent installation phases; forthis reason, it must comply with all the projectrequirements, with particular reference togradients, which must not be less than 1%.

IInnssttaalllliinngg ccoonnttaaiinnmmeenntt ccuurrbbssTo complete the first phase of the work, it maybe necessary to create channels and curbs forcontainment of the mantle; these must be fixedby means a support system against thefoundation elements.

LLaayyiinngg tthhee ggeeootteexxttiillee ffaabbrriiccIt is always good practice to lay a geotextile insynthetic "fabric non-fabric" between theinstallation layer and the finish surface, toprevent the bedding sand from dropping into thelayer below.

LLeevveelllliinngg tthhee iinnssttaallllaattiioonn llaayyeerrThe installation layer must preferably be madeup of crushed sand with a particle size of notmore than 7 mm and at least 80% of its contentbelow 4 mm; it must also be free from salts andother pollutants. Once compacted, the layer ofsand must have a thickness of 30-50 mm.

IInnssttaalllliinngg CCOOTTTTOOBBLLOOCC bbrriicckkssCOTTOBLOC bricks are installed with a constantjoint of 3-5 mm. The bricks must also be laid 10-15 mm above the level envisaged for the walk-over surface of the finished floor.

CCoommppaaccttiinngg vviibbrraattiioonn aanndd sseeaalliinnggThe final settling of COTTOBLOC bricks isachieved using a plate-type vibratory compactor(weight of about 60 kg) with a rubber sole. Oncethe floor has been compacted, spread it withclean dry sand with a particle size of not morethan 0.5 mm. During the final passes, this willpenetrate into the joints and fill them completely.

S econdo la norma Europea UNI EN 1344,COTTOBLOC, con le sue caratteristiche

dimensionali e soprattutto con il suo spessore di5,5 cm, risulta materiale idoneo ad unadestinazione d’uso, oltre che di tipo pedonale,anche di tipo veicolare. La carrabilità èindiscutibilmente legata anche alla certificataeccellente resistenza a compressione, misuratadirettamente sul mattone da laboratori esternidel valore di 84 N/mm2.

Carriageable and durable

Owing to its high mechanicalresistance it can also be used

for surfaces to be driven on,offering a high level of

performance and a raredurability in time.

I n accordance with European standard UNIEN 1344, COTTOBLOC, with its dimensional

characteristics and above all its thickness of 5.5cm, is a material suitable for surfaces that aredriven on as well as walked on. In addition, thiscarriageability is indisputably linked to thecertified high level of resistance tocompression, with a value of 84 N/mm2measured directly on the brick by externallaboratories.
