• European Health Insurance Card
• Voluntary registration to the National Health System:
- Local Health Unit (ASL) in your area of residence
- Required documents: tax code, identity card, S1/E106 form or
payment of annual tax (about 150euros), certificate of enrolment as
Erasmus student, certificate or self-declaration of residence

EXAMS
Exams can be oral and/or written
Oral exams:
Face-to-face oral tests on course material (public sessions,
i.e. other students might be present while you are being tested)
Written exams:
multiple open-ended questions regarding topics taught during the course
multiple choice tests
essays about a specific subject (not very frequent)
exercises (math-like exams)
Homework is usually not graded but helps you preparing for the exam
3 exam terms: fall (September), summer (June and July) and winter (January
and February).
The exam date is called “appello” (roll)

CREDITS
Passing an exam allows you earn a certain number of “ECTS
credits” or CFU: 3, 6, 9 or 12 (3 credits exams usually correspond to
short tests and/or seminars)
ECTS credits express the volume of learning based on the defined
learning outcomes (what a learner is expected to know) and their
associated workload (time needed to complete learning activities).
60 ECTS = 1 academic year; 30 ECTS = 1 semester; 20 ECTS = 1
trimester
Grading system in Italy:
18 = pass
30 e lode = highest grade
