Ottenere la pietra filosofale avrebbe permesso di risolvere i mali del mondo; la trasformazione della materia era una grande metafora della trasformazione dell’uomo.Ai giorni nostri la scienza moderna, basandosi su di una chimica razionale, permette di lavorare gli elementi con esattezza, dando all’uomo i mezzi per raggiungere i propri obbiettivi affrontando la dimensione interiore ed elevarsi.Così come l’oro rappresentava per gli alchimisti la perfezione, date le sue proprietà di incorruttibilità, la fibra di carbonio oggi per gli sportivi è la materia perfetta in termini di leggerezza e resistenza alle sollecitazioni, caratteristiche fondamentali per affrontare una grande impresa come una gara. Alchemist trasforma la materia per elevare la performance.Da questi presupposti e obbiettivi nasce Alchemist. L’azienda produce componenti in carbonio per biciclette da Mountain Bike, Cross Country e Marathon. Ogni pezzo è numerato perché prodotto a mano secondo quella che si può definire una nuova tradizione nella quale l’artigianato, completamente made in Italy, diventa hi-tech. Alchemy is an ancient philosophy whose objective was the transformation of base metals into gold. Obtaining the philosopher’s stone would have allowed them to resolve the world’s evils; transforming matter was an important metaphor for the transformation of man.Nowadays, modern science, in basing itself on rational chemistry, allows us to work the elements exactly, giving man the means to reach his objectives confronting his interior dimension and in this way improving himself.Just as gold represented perfection for the alchemist, thanks to its incorruptible properties, for sportsmen today carbon fibre is the perfect material in terms of lightness and resistance to stress, which are fundamental characteristics when facing a challenge such as a race. Alchemist transforms materials in order to elevate performance.It is from these conditions and goals that Alchemist was created. The company produces carbon fibre components for bicycles - Mountain Bikes, Cross Country bikes and Marathon bikes. Each piece is numbered as it is produced by hand in accordance to what we can now define as a new tradition of craftsmen that is entirely made in Italy, and which has become hi-tech. Alchemist parts represent the highest choice for sporting professionals and demanding amateurs.Alchemist has salvaged the charm of the alchemist’s ancient symbols, by adopting the emblematic representation of an alchemic animal as its logo: the uroborus is a snake which eats its own tail thus continuously regenerating itself; it represents a life cycle of things, of infinity of one and all.

The Alchemist concept

The alchemistI componenti Alchemist rappresentano la massima espressione della tecnica applicata al prodotto.Innovazione e qualità si devono all’attento processo di artigianato hi-tech nel quale il diretto coinvolgimento del personale tecnico è determinante. L’alchimista racchiude in sé scienza, esperienza, sensibilità e filosofia. Le sue capacità si fondano su di una continua ricerca, che si concretizza nella progettazione e ingegnerizzazione; si affinano durante la fase di prototipazione e testing; per poi esprimersi al meglio in fase di produzione e rifinitura del prodotto. L’obbiettivo dell’alchimista è tagliare il traguardo, la sua motivazione, che è la sua forza, è la passione.Per la produzione l’alchimista usa solo le materie migliori. La selezione comincia con l’individuazione della tipologia di carbonio e della tramatura delle fibre più adatti per essere impiegati in relazione al tipo di sollecitazioni che ogni specifico prodotto dovrà affrontare al momento dell’uso. L’alchimista inoltre usa solo fibra di carbonio preimpregnata perché caratterizzata da una distribuzione uniforme e precisa della quantità di resina in ogni punto, consentendo di tenere sotto controllo il peso e le caratteristiche meccaniche. Ne deriva che i valori di resistenza a rottura e il coefficiente di allungamento sono precisi al centesimo, nonché controllati su tutta la superficie. L’accoppiamento dei layer è studiato per: sfruttare al meglio la tenacità del materiale; ridurre al minimo le vulnerabilità intrinseche dell’accoppiamento carbonio-resina, come delaminazione e scheggiatura; ottimizzare la quantità di materiale impiegato e quindi diminuire quanto più possibile il peso. Il processo di produzione Alchemist si distingue per aver introdotto la fase di “stabilizzazione” ovvero una serie di trattamenti e accorgimenti che portano il materiale alla sua massima espressione meccanica. A questo punto il pezzo in carbonio è pronto per la foratura, il taglio a misura, la sbavatura, la pulitura, la verniciatura e l’eventuale accoppiamento con altri materiali.Tutto questo è possibile solo grazie a mani esperte la cui essenza deriva da un’artigianalità “made in Italy” che oggi è diventata hi-tech. I testing del prodotto vengono effettuati sul campo da bikers professionisti dotati di una sviluppata sensibilità nel giudicare le criticità, esprimendo con particolare attenzione esigenze e bisogni.L’alchimista è consapevole che l’evoluzione è continua perché un processo, una fibra, un polimero o un sistema meccanico possono sempre essere migliorati. Per l’alchimista vincere ogni sfida significa raggiungere la perfezione per poi individuare un nuovo punto di partenza, lo spazio per un’altra innovazione.

Alchemist components are representative of the maximum technical expression applied to a product. Innovation and quality are due to the careful process of high-tech craftsmanship in which the direct involvement of the technical staff is crucial.The alchemist encapsulates science, experience, sensitivity and philosophy within himself. His capabilities are founded on continuous research which are materialised in design and engineering; they are refined during the prototype phase and during testing, to then express themselves at their best in the product’s production phase and finish. The aim of the alchemist is to cut the finish line, his motivation, which is also his strength, is passion.The alchemist only uses the finest materials for his production. Selection begins with individualising the type of carbon and the most suitable fibre weave to be used in relation to the stress each specific product will have to face at the time of use. In addition to this, the alchemist only uses pre-impregnated carbon fibre as it is characterised by a uniform distribution and precise quantity of resin in every point, allowing weight and mechanical characteristics to be kept under control. From this it obtains values of resistance to breakage whilst the coefficient to lengthen is precise to the centimetre, as is its control over the entire surface. Coupling layers is studied to: take greater advantage of the material’s tenacity, reducing the intrinsic vulnerability of carbon-resin coupling such as delamination and chipping to a minimum; optimise the quantity of material used and therefore reduce weight as much as possible. Alchemist’s manufacturing process is distinguished by the fact of it introducing a “stabilisation” phase or rather a series of treatments and solutions which bring the material to its maximum mechanical expression. At this point the carbon fibre piece is ready for drilling, cutting to size, di-burring, cleaning, varnishing and any coupling with other materials.All this is only possible thanks to the expert hands from whose essence “made in Italy” craftsmanship which today has become hi-tech can come from.Product testing is carried out on site by professional cyclists equipped with a developed sensitivity in judging critical areas, expressing their needs and requirements with particular care.The alchemist is aware that evolution is continuous as it is a process, a fibre, a polymer or a mechanical system which can always be improved. Adatto per uso Race Cross Country e Marathon. Realizzato in stampo ad alta pressione con resina IMPACT-PROOF contenente polimeri plastici che aumentano l’assorbimento delle sollecitazioni e degli impatti. La stratificazione delle pelli, realizzata a mano da tecnici esperti, è studiata in modo da incrementare la sezione resistente solo dove serve, consentendo di realizzare una handlebar leggera ma allo stesso tempo con un’elevata resistenza. La progettazione per l’applicazione di bar ends prevede che le estremità possano essere accorciate di massimo 40mm per rimanere idonee all’utilizzo di bar ends le quali oltre questa misura non posso essere applicate. Una grande innovazione di questa handlebar è costituita dall’ergonomicità della zona centrale: a destra e sinistra dell’attacco manubrio la sezione è ovale e maggiorata così da formare un’area di appoggio over size consentendo una presa più confortevole.

The layering of the leather, shaped by hand by expert technicians, is studied so as to increase the resistant section only where necessary, allowing light handlebars to be created which at the same time have high resistance. The design for the application of bar ends foresees that the extremities can be shortened by a maximum of 40mm so as to remain suitable for bar ends use for which higher measurements could not be applied. A significant innovation of this handlebar is in the ergonomicity of the central area: on the left and right of the handlebar connection joint, the oval section is increased to form an oversized support area which allows for a more comfortable grip.

Realizzato in stampo ad alta pressione con resina IMPACT-PROOF contenente polimeri plastiti che aumentano l’assorbimento delle sollecitazioni e degli impatti. La struttura a diametri differenziati permette di aumentare la rigidità nella zona dell’attacco del disco freno utilizzando una sezione maggiorata, mentre presenta un diametro inferiore nella zona opposta per ridurre al minimo i pesi. L’asse centrale in carbonio multistrato MATRIX permette la massima rigidità e il minimo peso.

DESCRIZIONE TECNICAPenta è un mozzo posteriore per utilizzo Race Cross Country e Marathon, caratterizzato dalla presenza di ben cinque cuscinetti per il massimo dell’affidabilità in assenza di torsioni.Penta è stato studiato in collaborazione con racer professionisti in funzione delle esigenze della categoria “competition”. Il risultato è un mozzo altamente affidabile e rigido per distribuire al massimo la potenza. L’aver aggiunto un cuscinetto in più rispetto ai mozzi tradizionali rende Penta davvero unico e innovativo.

Il corpo principale è realizzato in alluminio 7075 T6 con un procedimento a controllo numerico. Il corpo centrale è in carbonio 18K IM UD, la cui trama all’esterno si sviluppa in senso unidirezionale così da ottenere la massima rigidità, mentre è incrociata all’interno per un’elevata resistenza alla torsione. Al fine di aumentare l’assorbimento di sollecitazioni e impatti, Penta è stato realizzato con resina IMPACT-PROOF contenente polimeri plastici, in uno stampo ad alta pressione.

Penta is a rear hub for use in Race Cross Country and Marathon. It features five bearings for maximum reliability and increased resistance to torsion. Penta was designed in collaboration with professional racers according to “competition” category requirements. The result is a highly reliable and rigid hub for maximum power distribution. The addition of an extra bearing compared to traditional hubs makes Penta truly unique and innovative.

The main frame is created in numerically controlled 7075 T6 aluminium. The central frame is made of 18K IM UD carbon fibre with a unidirectional external weave for maximum rigidity and an internal unidirectional cross weave for increased resistance to torsion. Riparazione o sostituzione in garanziaLa riparazione o sostituzione in garanzia avverrà solamente a fronte della restituzione del prodotto, o della parte danneggiata, se accompagnati da ricevuta originale di vendite o prova di acquisto. Nel caso di un acquisto presso rivenditore autorizzato è possibile rivolgersi al rivenditore stesso. Servizio di garanzia riparazione/sostituzioneSolo ed esclusivamente il personale Alchemist S.r.l. può verificare se sono state rispettate le condizioni, in base ai criteri sopra elencati, per l’applicabilità del diritto di riparazione/sostituzione in garanzia. Nel caso in cui non sussistano i presupposti di garanzia Alchemist S.r.l. si impegna ad avvisare il cliente affinché decida se procedere con la riparazione a proprie spese.

Attenzione! dopo una caduta o un impattoDopo una caduta o un impatto occorre ispezionare attentamente il prodotto alla ricerca di eventuali danni. Se ci sono evidenti segni di danneggiamento (ad esempio fibra di carbonio rotta, scheggiata, delaminata) NON usare più il componente.

Destinazione d’usoTutti i componenti Alchemist sono destinati esclusivamente ad un uso Cross Country e Marathon e posso essere impiegati in percorsi accidentati con grado di difficoltà da moderato ad aggressivo. In particolare è previsto l’uso su percorsi ove sono presenti piccoli ostacoli, aree tecniche lisce, anche con momentanea perdita di contatto tra pneumatico e terreno. Non è invece previsto l’uso su percorsi con dropp importanti o compressioni, salti o passerelle che richiedano sospensioni con escursioni lunghe e, in generale, se non sono classificati per uso Cross Country. I componenti Alchemist non possono essere montati su biciclette non classificate all’interno delle categorie Cross Country o Marathon.

Attenzione! Un utilizzo diverso da quanto riportato può causare danni irreparabili a persone e cose anche con importanti lesioni fisiche.

ManutenzioneI prodotti prima di ogni uscita vanno attentamente controllati per verificarne l’integrità e che non vi siano danneggiamenti o usure eccessive. Un prodotto sottoposto ad una manutenzione insufficiente può provocare danni a cose e persone e causare incidenti che possono portare seri e gravi danni fisici. Fare sempre riferimento al manuale di manutenzione.

Nota per il rivenditoreIl rivenditore o distributore, in nessun momento e per nessuna ragione, può effettuare sostituzioni del prodotto in garanzia senza espressa autorizzazione scritta di Alchemist S.r.l.. Repairs and replacements under warranty Repair or replacement under warranty will only occur when the product or damaged part has been returned accompanied by the original sales receipt or proof of purchase. Should the product have been purchased from an authorised seller then it is possible to address him directly. Warranty limitations The warranty does not cover parts which have been installed incorrectly, or regulated to different values in respect to those indicated by the relevant installation manual. The warranty does not cover damage incurred to parts if used in applications outside the range of uses for which it was designed (for example in the case of Cross Country rims when used for Downhill cycling).The warranty does not apply to damage incurred following accidents or impact, non-authorised alterations or abuse of the product outside the normal usage.The warranty covers damage limited to Alchemist products and is not applicable for extended damage to other third party components.The warranty is not applicable on products whose serial number is either totally or even partially illegible.The warranty is not applicable on products which have not undergone regular maintenance.

Repair/substitution service under warrantyOnly Alchemist S.r.l. staff can check if conditions have been respected based on the above-mentioned criteria, with regard to the applicability of the right to repair/substitute under warranty. Should the conditions for warranty not subsist, Alchemist S.r.l will take care to inform the client in order that he might decide whether to proceed with the repair at his own expense.

Warning! After a fall or impactAfter a fall or impact, the product must be checked carefully for any possible damage. If damage is evident (for example carbon fibre broken, chipped or delaminated) DO NOT USE the component part.

Intended useAll Alchemist component parts are intended exclusively for use in Cross Country Racing and Marathons and may be used on uneven tracks with a moderate to aggressive level of difficulty. In particular use is foreseen on tracks where there are small obstacles, smooth technical areas, even when there is slight loss of contact between the tyre and the terrain. Use is not intended on tracks with significant drops or compressions, jumps or walkways which require long range suspension and, in general, if not classified for Cross Country use.Alchemist parts may not be fitted to bicycles that are not classified within the Cross Country or Marathon category.

Warning!Any use different from that reported, may cause irreparable damage to people or objects with significant physical injury.

MaintenanceAll products are carefully checked before leaving the factory in order to check that there is no excessive damage or wear. Products which undergo insufficient maintenance may cause damage to people and may cause accidents which may lead to serious and severe physical damage. Always refer to the maintenance manual.

Note to retailerThe retailer or distributor, under no circumstances or for any reason may carry out substitution of a product under warranty without the expressed written authorisation of Alchemist S.r.l. Should the retailer or distributor decide independently to substitute a product, this will not be reimbursed by Alchemist S.r.l.
