GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The STRUCTURE consists of a square-section tower designed tobe entirely clad with panels made of a radio-electrically
transparent material. Inside the structure, there is a caged
climbing ladder which is accessible from the base of the tower
through an access door. It is even possible to install floodlights at
the top of the tower.
TOTEMTOWER can accommodate panel antennas and dish
antennas up to Ø 60 cm inside its structure, without the outer
cladding compromising their radio-electric performance.
These structures are available in heights of 20 to 40 m, and can
be supplied with any type of reproduced image and externalcolouring, either uniform or shaded.
The possibilities for reproducing images on the outer cladding are
virtually unlimited. calzavara is able to carry out investigations to
locate suitable digital photo material for reproduction.
Alternatively, Customers may send images the plan to reproduce,
on high resolution digital photo media. calzavara will send one or
more graphic simulations of the outer cladding.
The VERTICAL CABLE TRAY, made of Ø 20 mm tubular sections,
is positioned close to the climbing ladder, along the whole length
of the tower.
The HORIZONTAL CABLE BRIDGES are designed to provide
overhead support for feeder and service cables between the
structure and the equipment room.
They are available in various lengths and can be fitted with
protection covers.
The AIRCRAFT WARNING SYSTEM conforms to ICAO or FAA
standards. For day-time warning, the top third of the structure is
painted red and white; the night-time warning system comprises a
low intensity light unit with steady red light (art. S……..).
As an alternative, both day-time and night-time signalling can beprovided by a medium intensity light unit with white flashing light
(art. SEGS2320K).
The LIGHTNING PROTECTION SYSTEM consists of a lightning
conductor with a pick-up device, secured to a rod at the top of the
structure (art. LKPI).
The GROUNDING SYSTEM, which carries the electrical discharge
picked up by the lightning protection system to ground, consists
of a set of copper-plated or galvanized ground rods and copper
ground plates, connected to each other by a copper conductor.
The system ensures equipotentiality of the structure (art. GRPI).
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION
SUPPORTING STRUCTUREDESIGN
Design follows the most modern measuring criteria, with the aid of
advanced software systems. Structural analysis, static and dynamic
tests conform to the most recent United States (EIA 222) and
Italian (CNR-UNI) standards. Tests to other international
standards (EURONORM, BS, NV65, etc.) can be carried out on
request.
WIND LOADS
In accordance with the requirements of EIA standards 222: basic
wind speed equivalent to 100 mph.The structures are also tested in accordance with Italian
standards, for wind zones from 1 to 3, roughness class D, category
II and Ct = 1.0.
TWIST & SWAY
Maximum twist and sway at the summit, with a constant wind
speed of 100 Km/h blowing over the whole length of the tower, is
less than 0.5° (30’).
MATERIALS
The materials comply with the requirements of European
standards (EURONORM):
Structural parts: S355JR (Fe 510 B) EN 10025
Nuts and bolts: type 6.8 EN 20898-1
GALVANIZATION
All metallic materials, except for stainless steel and non-ferrous
parts, are protected by hot-dip galvanizing in accordance with
ASTM A123 and Euronorm EN 1461 standards.
FOUNDATIONS
Standard versions, designed for erection on reinforced concrete
foundations, are calculated for a permissible ground load greaterthan 2 kg/cm2. The following solutions are available on request:
• special pile or micro-pile foundations
• foundations with rock anchoring system
SHROUDMATERIALS
• fibreglass and plastic materials
• nuts, bolts and fixing accessories in stainless steel
OPERATING CONDITIONS
• temperatures from –20°C to +85°C
• humidity: 100%

This product is based on a design similar to that of a traditional antenna tower but, because it can be fitted with countless types
of external cladding, TOTEMTOWER can become an advertising sign, a medieval tower or other type of architectural
structures.

RADIO-ELECTRIC TRANSPARENCY
Comparative measurements in bandwidths from 400 MHz - 2.2 GHz
have shown signal attenuation of < 1 dB. Data relating to radio-
electric transparency tests is available on request.

This provides the minimum configuration required for installation

• caged climbing ladder, with intermediate rest platforms
