PERI UP Rosett Flex successfully provided working platforms and access stairs throughout the complex industrial building structure Edificio Ágora in Valencia (Spain).

Cover photo Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi is being built with the help of PERI climbing formwork. PERI also delivered form-work and scaffolding for the buildings on the left and on the right side of this new high-rise building.

PERI UP Rosett Flex comes with a grid of 250 mm ensuring optimal adaption to the structure. Intermedi-ate decks and handrails can be fixed to the standard PERI UP Rosett Flex node every 500 mm.

PERI UP Rosett Flex supporting the complex structure of Saadiyat Bridge in Abu Dhabi. Using only a few individual components, all loads were safely trans-ferred into the ground.

PERI UP Rosett Flex is extremely flexible and meets the highest safety standards. One example for the use in an industrial facility is the scaffolding for the Kralupynad Vltavou Oil Refinery in the Czech Republic.

PERI UP Rosett Flex access stairs. Every entry or exit level can be achieved.

PERI UP Rosett Flex providing safe access to all reinforcement and concrete works for this 18 m high shear wall. Formwork as well as scaffold can be lifted by crane.

The Horizontal Ledger (UH) with gravity lock: secure connection also under vibrations.

The metal decking design combines high permissible loads (up to 10 kN/m²) with low weight and a slip resistant surface.

PERI UP Rosett Flex scaffold can be used for various applications such as access stairs, access scaffold, façade scaffold, industrial scaffold and shoring. Its standard grid of 250 mm was devel-oped to ensure maximum flexibility in any direction and has proven to be highly adaptable to any structure or height.

PERI UP Rosett Flex main components are vertical standards (UV), horizontal ledgers (UH), braces (UB) and decks (UD). The horizontal ledgers are fixed to the vertical standards through PERI UP Rosett Flex gravity lock. Once a ledger is hinged into the rosett node it is immediately secured and can’t come off. The gravity lock uses vibrations on the scaffold to further tighten the connection.

All metal decks are perforated and self- locking, ensuring a high slip resistance and always safe connection to horizon- tal ledgers. All decks are hot dip galva-nized. Oil, chemicals or salt water can therefore easily be removed. Metal decks are available in widths of 250 mm and lengths from 500 mm to 3,000 mm. Any decking surface can be closed completely by using available system components. The result is a gap free and safe working area.

Economical formwork solutionsfor a project leading towards an eco-friendly future

TRIO panel formwork – the best solutionfor any project requirement

Masdar Institute of Science and Technology, MIST 1B, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

Nilona Tower, Dubai, United Arab Emirates

The expansion of Masdar Institute of Science and Technology covers the construction of a student accom-modation, seven open laboratories, a multi-use hall facility, swimming pool and a gym. It will incorporate similar energy efficient design elements such as shaded streets, natural ventilation and heat reflecting facades that makes the facility and architecture unique. The total built up area is 82,000 m² and is expected to be completed over the course of 18-months, with approxi-mately 35% size increase to the current campus.

PERI has been awarded the contract to supply formwork for columns, core walls and slabs. In order to be able to realize such project, PERI has de-signed customized solutions to satisfy the needs of the client. To achieve

Nilona Tower is located in Dubai Healthcare City Phase II, and will house 24 storeys, ground floor and 3 base-ment floors for parking. The tower will feature 352 elegant and luxurious guest rooms, 128 luxury serviced apartments, comprehensive health and fitness facilities. Guests and residents will also have an array of nutritious gourmet din-ing and be surrounded by spectacular sceneries.

The differently dimensioned reinforced concrete columns were formed with TRIO, CB 240, MULTIFLEX and PD 8 shoring support, according to the re-quirements using the optimal system in each case. By using the CB 240, the floor cycle can easily be achieved, while

PD 8 Shoring Towers provided optimal support for the typical slabs.

The Masdar Institute was established in coopera-tion with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT); it focuses on research, technological development and human capital development in renewable energy and clean technologies.

With a customized solution for cantilever, PD 8 shoring, with a legload capacity of up to 70 kN, has been the ideal product choice.

With PERI‘s table modules and props the amount of single components could be reduced drastically.

The high flexural stiffness of VARIO‘s girders and matching steel walers can often be used to speed up shuttering, by optimizing the formwork panels and minimizing the number of tie points. In many cases the VARIO system yields the most cost-effective solution. The components of the VARIO system were used to provide individual, movable beam side shutters which fulfilled the requirement of preassembling and reusing of all beam shutters.

“Due to the flexibility of PERI‘s TRIO panel formwork, it was possible to cover the large variety of different vertical elements in our project. With their MULTIFLEX system, we tackled the challenges of non-typical struc-tures, covering immense construc-tion areas. For our typical slabs we used PERI‘s table forms, which allowed us to reach a short construc-tion cycle. Throughout the project we were satisfied with PERI‘s sup-port and their technical experience and solutions.“

Wolfgang Kopf,Construction Manager Formwork:

Kahtan al-Tikriti and Safwan S Boumorra,Construction Managers:“Despite the fast track nature of MIST-1B project and the continuity of the superstructure works 24/7, for a duration of 7 months, PERI proved their capability to present the site required technical sup-port and on site solutions for the complicated cases, backed up with the calculation and the praticality of the said solutions.“

keeping a safe working environment and being in need of less manpower. For forming, reinforcing and concreting the shear floors, TRIO resources were used. Swivel Head Table form served for the slab edge formwork.

The broad PERI product range and opti-mized logistical operations through only one formwork partner simplified and accelerated the construction progress. This meant, for example, that the TRIO with CB 240 wall formwork system could be used extremely versatile: for forming the core walls as well as constructing the shear walls. In addi-tion, MULTIFLEX and PD 8 slabs tables ensured that formworking was carried out very efficiently.

minimum cycle times, the client used VARIO GT 24 girder formwork system for the walls and columns. It is a fast, easy to use system that adapts to any required wall shape or height. One of the main advantages for this system is the flexibility in use, by pre-assembled panels fitting exact design require-ments.

In order to meet the slab heights up to 4.97 m, PERI offered MULTIFLEX system with GT 24 and VT 20 gird-ers and a tailor-made slab and beam support solution, with a combination of MULTIPROPs and PD 8 towers. As a result the client got an adaptable slab formwork, with individual system com-ponents consisting of props, tripods, crossheads, PD 8 towers, primary and secondary girders.

Occupying the built-up area of the pro-ject approximately 5.1 million square metres, Etihad Tower project is a pres-tigious mixed-use development com-posed of five towers, a large multi-level podium and a four level underground parking for more than 3,000 cars.

With the use of PERI system on site, inclusive of PD 8 for supporting and concreting PT beams in the podium area, it was easy and safe to erect despite the heavy and high structure. PERI’s climbing formwork was used

for concreting corewalls from B4 to P5 in Towers 1, 2, 3. This created a cost-effective solution for the client, in comparison to the hydraulic sys-tem. Additionally, as safety on site is and has been a main concern in such heights, the unobstructed platform made the work for labor and staff safe and fast. For all typical floors in the towers UNIPORTAL table form has been used: it was customized for each tower’s shape which made it ideal for the high-rise building.

The cantilevered SLT main beams of SKYDECK provide a convenient working space of 1.30 m.

Extended slab edges at sloping structures can be constructed with SKYDECK and MULTIPROP due to the high load-bearing capacity of both aluminium systems.

Khaled Katma,Senior Construction Manager:“PERI systems are durable and flexible. The light-weight SKYDECK panels mean minimum engage-ment of the tower crane and easy usage for the workers. It is very easy when MULTIPROP towers at double height are used. We are very pleased with the level of service and technical support provided to the site.“

The King Abdullah Financial District is designed as a state-of-the-art and fully self-contained development for doing business and facilitating invest-ment and enterprise in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and, in due course, in the wider Middle East region. This project is located in the heart of the KAFD and required high safety at each level. The two irregular shaped core walls climbed ahead by using a combination

of ACS and RCS, both self-climbing systems with high standards of safety, which was a key factor for the achieved 3 to 4 days cycle. VARIO GT 24 wall formwork was the versatile solution for the cores as well as the retain-ing wall. The SKYDECK light-weight slab formwork in conjunction with the MULTIPROP MP 480 and MP 250 is used for the typical floors but also for the assembly of towers by the means

of MRK frames. Supporting heights of up to 20 m were safely designed and built. The site team achieved an outstanding safety record by adapt-ing the benefits of all PERI systems.

Baljinder Pal, Site Manager:“I am extremely satisfied with PERI – they provide us with a large product range, construction-compliant solutions and competent on site and after sales service.“

Binu Thomas, Site in Charge:“By utilizing PERI systems such as LICO for columns, VARIO for lift and retain-ing walls, we experienced great benefits and profes-sional solutions for our sites. With PERI formwork we reduced manpower, wastages on site and were impressed by the easy handling of their systems. In future projects we defi-nitely will continue to use PERI.“

The concrete structure that forms the 70 m tower con-sists of an outer perimeter wall and an inner lift shaft core of approximately 50 m.

This was constructed using a traditional PERI climbing system around the outside perimeter, with the gravity BR platform used to great effect between the outer and inner core and the centre of the lift shaft. This provided a very safe and effective platform for all activities and ensured mini-mum work to lift and adjust for the next pour.

The top 20 m of the four cor-ner wall, was completed with the traditional PERI climbing system.

work included modifica-tion of the facades to be compatible with the new building. PERI LICO, the light-weight column form-work, for cost-effective forming without a crane, was chosen due to low

individual weights of the elements, which allow as-sembly and dismantling by hand. This means that the formwork crew is still in a position to effectively use the newly gained crane avail-ability in a productive way.
