Multifactor protection system for the submersible equipment

Main field of application of majorpack technologies is the protection of submersible production equipment, operating in the aggressive conditions, including those with highly corrosive environment activity and oil-wells, complicated with paraffin deposits. The combination of barrier and protective layers of coatings, together with special protective «between-the-nipple» inserts – Streamers, provides the multifactor protection system.

Composition of the barrier layer is chosen depending upon the specific oil-well conditions to provide the maximum degree of protection from the chemical and acid corrosion and flow’s influence. Besides, this composition has hydrophobic qualities and reduces the probability of wax depositions on tubing’s inner surface.Protective layer stands out with its adhesion – over 30 MPa and micro-hardness – 2,5 times higher than steel N80. It is coated on 100% of tubing’s body and coupling, including threaded connections. Due to its high resistance to the mechanical impact, it provides tenfold increase of the quantity of lowering down and lifting operations for tubings with majorpack coatings, while at the same time it provides the cathode protection of the tubing string from the electrochemical, under-the-film and pitting corrosion. So, during the joint operation of two layers of the majorpack coating, the synergetic effect is obvious: the barrier layer protects the cathode sacrificial layer from deterioration, meantime the protective, sacrificial layer is the primer for the barrier one and protects the tubing’s body from under-the-film corrosion in case the mechanical distraction of the barrier layer is occurred.

Majorpack MPAG96 coating – multifactor protective system in the line-up of majorpack coatings, developed for the integrated tubings’ protection with the presence of the following complicated factors:

1. Aggressive CO2 corrosion2. Aggressive H2S corrosion3. Salt corrosion4. Acid treatments5. Paraffin deposits

The availability of protective intermetallic layer on tubings’ and couplings’ threaded connections guarantees more than 60 times increase in the average quantity of lowering down and lifting operations.Temperature resistance over 200°CAdhesion – 12 MPa

Use of majorpack MPLAG14/C coating in the oil-fields of TatRITEKneft (TatRITEKoil) company, extract from the summary report:

«…in the oil-fields of TatRITEKneft tubings with majorpack MPLAG14/C coating have been installed since 2012 till the present time to retain the initial capacity of the fluid’s flow under the conditions of paraffin deposits and to protect the tubing string from corrosion environment in the production and pressure maintenance wells. Overall, after analyzing the operation time of tubings with majorpack MPLAG14/C coating we conclude that there haven’t been registered any emergency cases with tubings which resulted in the reduction of current repairs of oil-wells and provided the increase of mean time between failures of submersible equipment…»
