Dal 2004 c’è un nome nuovo nel panorama dell’industriaitaliana del design: Luxit. In realtà si tratta di una novità solonominalistica, della semplice variazione della ragione socialedi una realtà imprenditoriale, la Luxo Italiana, presente sulnostro mercato ormai da quasi quarant’anni, da quando cioè,nel 1967, fu costituita la filiale italiana della Luxo norvegese.

Nel 1979 la filiale divenne una vera e propria azienda,gestionalmente e produttivamente autonoma rispetto alla casamadre scandinava, della quale tuttavia continuava a fabbricarealcuni modelli contraddistinti secondo il tipico imprinting deldesign nordico, un’attenta ricerca in fatto di funzionalità,ergonomia, eleganza formale e semplicità costruttiva.

Tra loro , il prodotto di punta era certamente la L-1 disegnatanel 1937 da Jac Jacobsen, la leggendaria lampada da tavo-lo con braccio a pantografo compagna fedele e insostituibiledelle scrivanie e dei tavoli da disegno dei progettisti di tutto ilmondo. Un classico del design contemporaneo la cuidistribuzione in Italia venne affidata alla Naska Lorisingenerando l’equivoco fosse stata questa ditta, e nonJacobsen e Luxo, a idearla e a realizzarla.

L-1, che pure permane e con successo nel catalogo di Luxit,non è comunque il solo best-seller di Luxit – allora si chiamavaLuxo Italiana – né tanto meno domina la sua strategiaproduttiva e commerciale. Fin dal 1979, infatti, l’azienda,che ha sede a Presezzo (Bg), ha scelto la via della diversifi-cazione suddividendo la propria attività in due branche bendistinte: le lampade di design e i sistemi integrati di illuminazione.

Nell’ambito delle lampade ha perseguito una politica di altoprofilo mirando a combinare un’estetica molto identitaria eun’ingegnerizzazione tecnologicamente d’avanguardia,ricettiva dei continui miglioramenti dello stato dell’arte in

elettrotecnica ed elettronica. Per raggiungere questa fusione siè avvalsa e tuttora si avvale di designer di gran nome eprestigio, da Hans Ansems a Isao Hosoe, da YaacovKaufman a Perry King & Santiago Miranda, da AlessandroMendini ad Alberto Salvati, AmbrogioTresoldi e FrancescoLucchese. In collaborazione con loro ha messo a punto unrepertorio di creazioni stilisticamente straordinarie, ma anchefunzionalmente ed ergonomicamente ineccepibili, concretiesempi, spesso destinatari di premi prestigiosi, di come laricerca formale possa avere ricadute virtuose e innovativeanche sul versante tecnologico.

Di recente questa linea merceologica si è ulteriormenteampliata con apparecchi luminosi destinati alla casa. Grandefavore hanno , in questo senso, incontrato le collezioni Art Boxe Art Light che annoverano le “invenzioni” di designer di caraturainternazionale, ovvero riproducono opere di grandi artisticome Karim Rashid, Andy Warhol, Joan Mirò e SalvadorDalì, e, più vicini a noi, l’italo-americano James Rizzi eAlberto Salvati, geniale ideatore della tecnica del frottage.

I sistemi di illuminazione, per quanto rappresentino unadivisione ben distinta rispetto alle lampade di design epercorrano una strada produttiva differente, ne costituiscono,da un punto vista di filosofia progettuale, l’ideale comple-mento. Come le lampade infatti, sono il frutto di un’appassionatae incessante ricerca dedicata a trovare, in questo caso peruffici e grandi ambienti, le soluzioni illuminotecniche piùefficaci. E più rispondenti alle esigenze del committente giacchénon derivano da una fabbricazione di serie, ma da realizza-zioni “su misura”. E come le lampade esprimono con pienezzail senso della vocazione di Luxit: recepire nuovi stimoli, nuovesuggestioni, nuove idée per dare alla luce un “vestito”razionale ed elegante in sintonia con le tendenze piùavanzate del XXI secolo.

In 2004 a new name appeared on the Italian industrial designscene: Luxit. Indeed it is new in name only, a simple variationof an actual entrepreneurial style, Luxo Italiana, in the marketfor almost 40 years, when, in 1967, the Italian branch of theNorwegian Luxo was established.

In 1979 the branch became a firm in its own right,autonomous of the Scandinavian mother house, both asregards management and production, but for which, nevertheless,it continued to make some models noted for a typical Nordicdesign imprint: a careful research as regards functionality,ergonomics, formal elegance and simple construction.

Amongst these models the leader was certainly the L-1designed in 1937 by Jac Jacobsen, the legendary table lampwith the pantographic arm, faithful and irreplaceable companionon the desks and drawing tables of designers throughout theworld. A classic of contemporary design for which thedistribution in Italy was entrusted to Naska Loris causing themisunderstanding that it was this firm and not Jacobsen andLuxo which conceived and produced it.

Although L-1 persists with success in the Luxit catalogue it is notthe only best seller of Luxit – which then was called LuxoItaliana – nor does it dominate its production and commercialstrategy. Since 1979, in fact, the firm, which has its seat inPresezzo (Bg) has chosen the route of diversification dividingits activity in two branches: design lamps and integratedlighting systems.

In the sphere of lamps it has pursued a high profile policyaimed to combine an identifiable aesthetics and anavant-garde engineering technology, receptive to continualimprovements in the state of the art in electrical engineeringand electronics. In order to reach this fusion designers ofgreat name and prestige were, and are still being, availedof, from Hans Ansems to Isao Hosoe, from Yaacov Kaufmanto Perry King and Santiago Miranda, Alessandro Mendini toAlberto Salvati, Ambrogio Tresoldi to Francesco Lucchese.In collaboration with them an inventory of extraordinary

stylistic creations has been compiled which are, withoutexception, also functionally and ergonomically irreproachableand, frequently, have been assigned prestigious awards.They are examples of how formal research may have remarkableand innovative results on the technological side.

Recently this commercial technology line has been furtherenlarged with the apparatus for light sources for the house.In this way the collections Art Box and Art Light which numberthe inventions of designers of international fame, or they repro-duce the works of great artists such as Karim Rashid, AndyWarhol, Joan Mirò and Salvador Dali, and closer to us theItalian-American James Rizzi and Alberto Salvati, the ingeniousinventor of the technique of frottage, have met with great suc-cess.

The lighting systems, in as far as they represent a divisiondistinct from the design lamp and that they follow a differentproductive route, constitute, from the point of view of designphilosophy, the ideal complement. In fact, like the lamps, theyare the result of a keen and unceasing research dedicated tofinding, in this case for offices and big surroundings, the mostefficient solution for lighting techniques. They are more inkeeping with the needs of the consumer as they do not derivefrom mass-production but from a “made to measure”production. And so the lamps express fully the sense of thevocation of Luxit: to gather new incentives, new suggestions,new ideas to give birth to a rational and elegant “dress” intune with the most advanced trends of the 21st century.

Capostipite di tutte le lampade da tavolo con braccio bilan-ciato, questa lampada, che è oggi un classico famoso in tuttoil mondo, rappresenta il simbolo del gruppo LUXO. Fu realiz-zata nel 1937 ed è tuttora un grande successo internazionale.Numerosi i premi ottenuti in varie nazioni. In Italia venneimportata sul finire degli anni 50 e poi prodotta nello stabili-mento Luxo di Presezzo a partire dal 67. Naska Loris ne curòla distribuzione fino al 1979 quando Luxo Italiana creò la pro-pria rete vendita.

Since 1937 this lamp has excited the envy of all producers inthe world. It is the fore-runner of all articulated self-balancinglamps and it has been distinguished by all the most prestigiousawards in the world of industrial design. In Italy it was importedfrom Norway in the late fifties and in 1967 production startedin the Luxo factory outside Bergamo.

Depuis 1937 cette lampe à suscité l’envie de tous lesproducterus dans le monde entier. Devenue, depuis, le symboledu groupe LUXO, elle fut la pionnière dans le domaine deslampe à bras auto-équilibrés et par le fait, fut distinguée parde nombreuses récompenses dans le monde du design indu-striel. Elle fut importée de Norvège en Italie à la fin des années50. En 67 la production commença dans l’usine, basée nonloin de Bergame.

Die legendäre Tischleuchte mit balanciertem Arm ist heutzutageein Klassiker des zeitgenössischen Designs und ist Symbol dergesamten LUXO Gruppe. Diese Lampe wurde im Jahr 1937entworfen und bekam zahlreiche Auszeichnungen in derganzen Welt. Sie wurde seit dem Jahr 1967 in Italienhergestellt und, bis zum Jahr 1979, als Luxo Italiana eineneigenen Verkaufsmarkt aufbaute, von Naska Loris srl verkauft.

La cúspide de todas las luminarias de mesa con brazoscompensados, esta luminaria que hoy es un clásico famosoen todo el mundo, representa el símbolo del Grupo LUXO.Fue realizada en 1937 y es la autora de un gran éxitointernacional. Son numerosos los premios obtenidos en variasnaciones. Se fabricaba en Oslo y a partir de 1967 se inicióla producción en la fabrica de Presezzo en Italia.
