AQUATAIN AMFTM is a unique and new generation pro-duct for the control of mosquito larvae, “eco-friendly” and environment friendly.AQUATAIN AMFTM is a silicone-based liquid (polydimethyl-siloxane - PDMS), easy to apply on the surface of standing and stagnant water; it forms a very thin film on the water surface, being able to cover it in all its extension.Today, AQUATAIN AMFTM is a patent product authorized for free sale - no registration - in Italy and in all Europe-an Union countries, Switzerland, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand.AQUATAIN AMFTM, indeed, isn’t considered a biocide for the purposes of Article 3, paragraph 1, letter a) of Re-gulation (EU) No. 528/2012 (Implementing Decision (EU) 2015/655 of the Commission of 23 April 2015), as it acts with a physical-mechanical action, with a persistence and effectiveness for at least 4 weeks.There is no possibility to develop any case of resi-stance.

How to apply? It isn’t necessary any special equipment and it has to be used as it is (ready to use).AQUATAIN AMFTM must be applied in a ratio of 1 ml of product per m2 of water surface.Based on the surface area to be treated, just pour the quantity of AQUATAIN AMFTM ne-cessary for the treatment and in a few minu-tes it will cover the surface evenly.

Come si applica? Non sono necessarie attrezzature particolari e viene usato tal quale.AQUATAIN AMFTM va applicato in ragione di 1 ml di prodotto per ogni m2 di superficie di acqua. In base alla superficie dell’area da trattare è sufficiente versare il quantitativo di AQUATAIN AMFTM necessario ed in poco tempo la superficie si ricoprirà in maniera uniforme.

Come funziona? How does it work?AQUATAIN AMFTM ha un’azione esclusivamente di tipo fisico-meccanico e non contiene alcun componente potenzialmente tossico. L’applicazione di AQUATAIN AMFTM si basa su un prin-cipio molto semplice per la lotta alle zanzare, ma altamente effi-cace, completamente sicuro per l’ambiente e l’ecosistema e non interferisce con altri sistemi vitali, siano essi animali o vegetali.Il sottile film siliconico che si forma sulla superficie dell’acqua in seguito all’applicazione impedisce il corretto sviluppo degli stadi immaturi delle zanzare (larve e pupe).Esso non permette alle larve ed alle pupe la corretta assunzione dell’ossigeno atmosferico necessario per il loro sviluppo a sta-dio adulto, portandole al conseguente soffocamento.Infatti, la bassa tensione superficiale del film siliconico impedi-sce alle larve e alle pupe di attaccarsi alla superficie dell’acqua per attingere dall’aria l’ossigeno atmosferico necessario per so-pravvivere.Inoltre, gli studi hanno dimostrato che la bassa tensione su-perficiale ha un impatto anche sulla deposizione delle uova: le femmine adulte non depongono le uova sull’acqua che è stata trattata con AQUATAIN AMFTM e qualora esse, intente a de-positare le uova, entrassero in contatto con il film siliconico, rimarrebbero in esso intrappolate, portandole a morte.In questo modo è interrotto l’intero ciclo vitale della zanzara.

AQUATAIN AMFTM has an exclusively physical-mechanical ac-tion and it doesn’t contains any potentially toxic compound.The application of AQUATAIN AMFTM is based on a very sim-ple principle against mosquitoes, but highly effective, comple-tely safe for the environment and the ecosystem and it doesn’t interfere with other life-systems, whether animals or vegeta-bles. The very thin silicone film on the surface of the water after application prevents the proper development of the immature stages of mosquitoes (larvae and pupae). It doesn’t allow the larvae and pupae to take the proper oxy-gen from the atmosphere useful for their development to adult stage, taking them to the consequent death caused by anoxia. Indeed, the low surface tension of the silicone film prevents larvae and pupae to attach to the water surface, causing them to drawn.Furthermore, studies have shown that the low surface tension also impacts on ovoposition: adult females don’t lay eggs on the water when AQUATAIN AMFTM is in place and when fe-male mosquitoes are intent to lay their eggs come in contact with the silicone film, they remain trapped in it, leading them to death.In This way it shuts down the entire life cycle of the mosquito.

Dove applicare Aquatain AMFTM?AQUATAIN AMFTM è indicato per l’uso in acque ferme e sta-gnanti: laghi, bacini idrici, risaie, fognature, caditoie, tombini, ca-nali di scolo, serbatoi d’acqua, acqua potabile, sottovasi, secchi, fosse settiche, pneumatici, grondaie, sottovasi, ecc. In sostanza, ovunque le zanzare possano riprodursi.

Where to apply Aquatain AMFTM?AQUATAIN AMFTM is suitable for the use in standing and sta-gnant water: lakes, reservoirs, rice fields, sewers, culverts, manholes, drains, water tanks, drinking water, saucers, bu-ckets, septic tanks, tires, gutters, saucers, etc.Basically, wherever mosquitoes can breed.

Test di laboratorio e di semi-campo condotti su • Aedes albopictus e Culex pipiens confermano una persistenza nell’acqua di almeno 30 giorni, durante i quali le lar-ve non raggiungono lo stadio adulto e comunque con un indice di inibizione dello sfarfallamento degli adulti compreso tra il 93% ed il 95%.Le larve rallentano fortemente il proprio sviluppo non rag-•giungendo lo stadio di pupa e quindi lo stadio adulto.Si verifica una forte riduzione dell’attività di ovideposi-•zione delle femmine.Ulteriori test sono in corso per confermare l’efficacia •dei trattamenti nei vari scenari operativi.

Laboratory tests and semi-field trials conducted on •Aedes albopictus and Culex pipiens confirm its per-sistence in water for at least 30 days, where the lar-vae don’t reach the adult stage and in any case with an index of inhibition of becoming adults between 93% and 95%.The larvae strongly slow down its development without •reaching the pupal stage and then the adult one.There is a strong reduction of the oviposition of fe-•males.Further testing are underway to confirm the effective-•ness of treatments in a wide variety of scenarios.

AQUATAIN AMFTM è a base di polidimetilsilossano (PDMS).Il PDMS è un polimero che trova moltissime applicazioni: dall’in-dustria farmaceutica all’industria cosmetica passando per l’indu-stria alimentare (come additivo) ed applicazioni nell’edilizia, nella realizzazione di lubrificanti, dispositivi medici, ecc. è una sostanza inerte, dalla tossicità trascurabile, non infiamma-bile, non volatile, con bassa solubilità e tendenza alla sedimen-tazione, che si degrada naturalmente nell’ambiente (per opera della luce solare) in composti innocui e normalmente presenti in natura: silicati inorganici (SiO2), anidride carbonica (CO2) ed acqua (H2O).Il PDMS è stato inserito da WHO e FAO nella lista degli additivi alimentari autorizzati ed ha superato con successo le restrizioni imposte dal regolamento del US EPA e ha ottenuto l’esenzione dal regolamento che controlla i polimeri (REACH).Il prodotto non porta a fenomeni di bio-accumulo negli esseri viventi, grazie all’alto peso molecolare che impedisce il passag-gio delle molecole attraverso le membrane biologiche.E’ un prodotto non tossico e non pericoloso e non ha effetti ne-gativi sull’ambiente acquatico. La presenza di PDMS non mo-difica i valori dell’acqua di temperatura, pH, ossigeno disciolto, durezza, di ammoniaca e composti azotati. In particolare i valori di ossigeno disciolto rientrano entro i parametri accettabili per la sopravvivenza della flora e della fauna acquatica.Test condotti da organismi certificatori, hanno stabilito che il PDMS è impiegabile nelle acque potabili. Non si hanno riscon-tri del superamento dei valori soglia di tossicità tali da considera-re il PDMS un prodotto tossico, irritante, mutageno, carcinogeno o tale da avere valori che evidenzino una tossicità sistemica nei confronti dell’uomo e degli animali.Gli operatori che impiegano il prodotto non necessitano di particolari protezioni individuali.

AQUATAIN AMFTM is based on polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS).The PDMS is a polymer which finds many applications: from the pharmaceutical industry to the cosmetic one through the food industry (as an additive) and with applications in the building, in the production of lubricants, medical devices, etc.It is an inert substance, with negligible toxicity, non-flammable, non-volatile, with low solubility and tendency to sedimentation, which degrades naturally in the environment (through the action of the sunlight) into harmless compounds and normally found in nature: inorganic silicates (SiO2), carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O).The PDMS was posted by WHO and FAO in the list of authorized food additives and it has successfully passed the restrictions imposed by the regulation of US EPA and it has been exempted from the regulation that controls the polymers (REACH).The product does not lead to the phenomena of bioaccumu-lation in living beings, thanks to the high molecular weight which prevents the passage of molecules across biological membranes. It’s a non-toxic and harmless and it has no negative impact on the aquatic environment. The presence of PDMS does not change the values of the water temperature, pH, dissolved oxy-gen, hardness, ammonia and nitrogen compounds. In particular, the dissolved oxygen values fall within the acceptable parame-ters for survival of aquatic flora and fauna.Tests conducted by certifying bodies have established that the PDMS can be used in drinking water. No matches were found exceeded the thresholds of toxicity sufficient to consider the PDMS product toxic, irritant, mutagenic, carcinogenic or which have values which reveal a systemic toxicity to humans and ani-mals.Operators who use the product doesn’t require any particu-lar individual protections.
