COSTUMI TRADIZIONALI IN ITALIA Il costume di Sorso risale alla seconda metà del 19° secolo. Questo modello veniva indossato dalle moglie dei ricchi contadini. È composto da una gonna lunga di seta nera, una camicia bianca, un grembiule di seta nero con motivi floreali che possono essere verdi, viola o neri, e uno scialle con frange anch’esso di seta e con motivi floreali. Veniva indossata anche una lunga collana d’oro. The traditional costumes of Sorso dates back to the second half of the 19th century. This one was worn by the wealthy women, the landowner’s wives. It consists of a a long black silk skirt, a white blouse, a long black silk apron with flowers that can be green, violet or black, and a black silk shawl with fringes and with a violet flowered pattern. They also used to wear a long golden necklace. Questo modello veniva indossato dalle contadine. Si differenzia dall’altro modello per il tipo di scialle: una sorta di gonna a- perta con il quale le donne si copri- vano la parte superiore del corpo, lasciando scoperto solo il viso. The countrywomen used to wear this costume. It differs from the other one only for the shawl: a kind of skirt with which women wrapped the upper part of their body, but not their face (as a matter of fact it was a kind of unsewn skirt, which they used as a shawl)

Il costume maschile è composto da un copricapo nero

d’orbace, da una camicia bianca, da un gilet di velluto

nero, da un gonnellino di orbace nero, da una cintura di

pelle, da dei mutandoni di cotone bianchi e da dei cal-

zari d’orbace nero. The man’s clothes consists of a long black orbace hat, a white

cotton shirt, a black velvet waist, a black orbace (a typical Sardi-

nian coarse woollen fabric) skirt, a large leather belt, long white

cotton under pants, and black orbace stockings.

Due componenti del gruppo di ballo di Sorso sono venute nella nostra scuola per spiegarci le origini del co-stume e per illustrarci le parti che lo compongono. Two members of the dance group of Sorso came to school to tell us about the origins of the costume and to explain us the compo-nent parts.

Alcuni di noi lo hanno pure indossato. Some of us wore it.
