Nei materiali polimerici molte proprietà derivano dalla
diversa forma e dimensione delle macromolecole. Tali
In polymers, many properties are coming from the
shape and the dimension of the macromolecule. Such
parameters can be adjusted during the production
process according to the final characteristics to be
achieved.
In Polyethylene made via radical polymerisation
(LDPE), the main parameters are: molecular weight,
molecular weight distribution, level of branching and
branching length.
Final polymer characteristics (ie: mechanical and
optical properties) and behaviour in the molten
state (processability), are resulting from an optimum
combination of these parameters.

Nel moderno impianto tubolare a tecnologia alta-
pressione proprietaria, Versalis ha recentemente
sviluppato tre nuovi gradi di polietilene a media
densità, chiamati: Riblene® FC 40 F, Riblene® FM 50 F
e Riblene® FM 53 F, quest’ultimo additivato con slip e
antiblocking.
In its modern high pressure tubular plant using
proprietary technology, Versalis has recently
developped three new medium density polyethylene,
named: Riblene® FC 40 F, Riblene® FM 50 F and
Riblene® FM 53 F, the last one being additivated with
slip and antiblock.
0,926 ÷ 0,935 viene spesso definita come “media
LDPE density can vary between 0.915 ÷ 0.935 (g/cm3),
and the higher density region between 0.926 ÷ 0.935
(g/cm3) is defined as “medium density”, commonly
described with the abbreviation M(L)DPE.

Riblene® FC 40 F
a spessori < 40 µm.
Riblene® FC 40 F is a product easy to process with high
efficency, on modern monolayer and multilayer blown
film machine and as well at thickness < 40 µm.
Typical processing temperature are between 180 ÷
200 °C. Die gap can vary between 0.8 ÷ 1.4 mm when
used pure, and between 1.4 ÷ 2 mm when used in blend
with LLDPE and/or HDPE to adjust rigidity.
Blow up ration (BUR) can vary between 2.5 ÷ 3.5
according to the balance between “TD” & “MD”
properties to be achieved.
Further to its base characteristics it is best used in the
sector of shrink film for medium/high weight goods,
especially when the good to be packed need a film
with a high level of transparence & gloss.

stiro a rottura. Quest’ultimo dato è proporzionale al
drow-down, cioè allo spessore minimo che è possibile
Riblene® FC 40 F, in molten state, is characterised
by an optimum balance between high melt strength
which influences bubble stability during extrusion, and
high drawability. The latter parameter is related to the
draw-down, minimum thickness achievable before
bubble break.
Film based on Riblene® FC 40 F is characterised by a
high shrinking force, as well in transverse direction (TD),
which is guaranteeing a high packaging integrity either
during conversion or during transport.
Riblene® FC 40 F is compatible with all the other
polyethylene, and particularly recommended for
medium/high weight shrink film (ie: 10 kg), chosing the
most adapted thickness, blending eventually with LL/
HDPE.

bolla.
These grades have been developped for use in low
thickness high rigidity film (< 25 µm) and transparent,
especially for the sector of light weight shrink film.
The additivated product has developped in order to
have high slip properties, as well at low thickness. Slip
properties can be reduced using Riblene® FM 50 F to
adapt to the requirement of the final application.
Typical processing temperature are between 150 ÷
170 °C. Die gap vary between 0.8 ÷ 1.2 mm when
used pure. During extrusion, using these grades
characterised by a higher density, best optical
properties are achieved focusing carefully on the
cooling of the bubble.
A particular attention have been given to the level of
gel so that it is reduced to its minimum to avoid bubble
break during extrusion especially at low thickness and
to achieve excellent film quality.
