1. THE EXPERIENCE OF DIVINE MERCY IN PALLOTTI «Dio mio, Misericordia mia»: ricca

espressione usata dal Santo arepetizione lungo tutta la sua vita.

Il mondo visto come una tensione tradue poli opposti e lontani l’unodall’altro: la grandezza o la santità diDio e la miseria o l’indegnitàdell’uomo. Bontà divina/Misericordia divina

come ponte che unisce i due poliopposti.

La sorgente della misericordia èl’Amore e la sua guida è la Sapienzainfinita.

Misericordia definita come unacompassione del cuore, cioè l’amoreche si adegua al bisogno dell’altro o ildolore che si sente al disagio dell’altro.

Misericordia e il suo aggettivomisericordioso= nome di Dio (PapaFrancesco).

« My God, my Mercy»: rich expressionused by the Saint repeatedlythroughout his life.

The world seen as a tension betweentwo poles that look like opposite andfar from each other: the magnitude orthe holiness of God and the misery orthe indignity of man. Divine goodness/Divine mercy as

the bridge that combines the twoopposite poles.

The source of Mercy is Love and itsguide is infinite Wisdom.

Mercy defined as compassion ofheart, i.e. the love that is adapting tothe other’s need or the pain that youfeel the other’s discomfort.

Mercy and its adjective merciful =God’s name (Pope Francis)

1. THE EXPERIENCE OF DIVINE MERCY IN PALLOTTI «Ma dunque e chi sono innanzi a Voi

o mio Dio, Misericordia infinita?»(OOCC X, 482): domanda esenzialee ritornello che orienta il camminospirituale del Pallotti.

La grande scoperta del Pallotti è chetutto uomo, malgrado le sueinfedeltà, le sue sporcizie, i suoiinnumerevoli peccati e fallimenti èimmagine della Santissima Trinità:Padre, Figlio e Spirito Santo.

La Misericordia di Dio riveste diversiattributi perché tutti gli attributi divinisono infinitamente misericordiosi.

Pallotti diventa prodigio dimisericordia o trofeo della DivinaMisericordia, all’esempio di MariaSantissima resa Prodigio di Grazia.

Misericordia infinita: conseguenza oaspetto dell’Amore infinito.

« But then who am I before you o myGod, infinite Mercy?» (OOCC X, 482):essential question and refrainquestion that guides the spiritualjourney of Pallotti.

The great discovery of Pallotti is thatevery man, despite his infidelity, filth,his many sins and failures is the imageof the Holy Trinity: Father, Son andHoly Spirit.

God’s Mercy has various attributessince the attributes of God are allinfinitely merciful.

Pallotti becomes prodigy of mercy orTrophy of Divine Mercy, following theexample of Holy Mary which becameMarvel of Grace.

Infinite Mercy: consequence or aspectof infinite Love.

Arrival of the first Indian Pallottines ofthe Light of Christ and of the Assumptionof the Blessed Virgin Mary Provinces inthe Philippines and in Taiwan six yearsago (2010).

Arrival of one priest belonging to theFrench Region of the Divine Mercy inHong Kong four years ago (2012).

Arrival of the Pallottines of the FrenchRegion of the Divine Mercy in Vietnamone year ago (2015).

orientale situato nella metameridionale della penisola coreana.

Superficie: circa 100.000 km2. Popolazione: 50.800.000 abitanti. Indipendenza: 1945. Lingue: Coreano con inglese Religioni: Senza religione (43%);

Cristiani (29,2% di cui 11% di Cattolici),Buddisti (22,8%), altre religioni (Islame vari nuovi movimenti religiosi).

Arrivo dei primi missionari PallottiniPolacchi il primo maggio 1990 nelladiocesi di Suwon.

Presenza odierna in Corea del Sud di 7confratelli (4 Polacchi e 3 Coreani) chelavorano in due comunità: BundangDong (diocesi di Suwon) eYangdeogwon (diocesi di Chuncheon).

2.1. SOUTH KOREA(1990) Geographical location: East Asian country

located in the southern half of theKorean peninsula.

Area: approximately 100,000 km2. Population: 50,800,000 inhabitants. Independence: 1945. Languages: Korean with English Religions: Without a religion (43%);

Christians (29,2% with 11% of Catholics),Buddhists (22,8%), other religions (Islamand various new religious movements).

Arrival on May 1, 1990 of the first PolePallottine missionaries in the diocese ofSuwon.

Currently 7 confreres (4 Poles and 3Koreans) are present in South Korea,working in two communities: BundangDong (diocese of Suwon) e Yangdeogwon(diocese of Chuncheon).

divisi in vari gruppi etnici. Indipendenza: 1935. Lingue: Filipino con inglese Religioni: Cattolici (più di 80%);

Evangelici e altri cristiani (10 %);Musulmani (5%); Buddisti (2,5%).

Istallazione dei primi confratelliindiani nella diocesi di Bacolodsull’isola di Negros all’iniziodell’anno 2010.

Presenza attuale di 4 confratelli indianidella Provincia della Luce di Cristo chelavorano in una parocchia e una casa diformazione nella diocesi di Bacolod.

2.2. THE PHILIPPINES(2010) Geographical location: Archipelago

located in Southeast Asia with morethan 7,000 islands.

Area: approximately 300,000 km2. Population: 102,565,000 inhabitants. Independence: 1935. Languages: Filipino with English Religions: Catholics (more than 80%);

Evangelicals and other Christians (10%),Muslims (5%) Buddhists (2.5%).

Installation of the first Indian confreres inthe diocese of Bacolod on Negros Islandat the beginning of the year 2010.

Current presence of 4 Indian confreres ofKhrist Jyothi (Light of Christ) Provincewho are working in one parish and oneformation house in the diocese ofBacolod.

nella parte orientale dell’Asia. Superficie: 35.980 km2. Popolazione: 23.415.126 abitanti

(estimazione del luglio 2015). Indipendenza: 1945 (paese retrocesso

dal Giappone agli Stati Uniti). Lingue: Cinese mandarino e taiwanese Religioni: Buddisti (35,1%); Taoisti

(33%); Atei o senza religione (14 %);Cristiani (4,5%);

Inizio del lavoro missionario deiconfratelli indiani della Provincia diBangalore nell’ottobre 2010, tramitelo scomparso nunzio Mons. Madtha.

Presenza attuale di 4 confratelli indianidella Provincia dell’ABVM che lavoranoin due diocesi (Chiayi e Taichung).

2.3. TAIWAN(2010) Geographical location: Island located in

East Asia. Area: 35,980 km2. Population: 23,415,126 inhabitants (July

2015 estimation). Independence: 1945 (country ceded by

Japan to the USA) . Languages: Mandarin Chinese &

Taiwanese Religions: Buddhists (35,1%); Taoists

(33%); Atheists or without a religion(14%); Christians (2,5%).

Beginning of the missionary work of ourIndian confreres of Bangalore Province inOctober 2010, through late NuncioBishop Madtha.

Current presence of 4 Indian confreres ofABVM Province who are working in twodioceses (Chiayi and Taichung).

(estimazione del luglio 2015). Indipendenza: 1997 (ripresa del

controlo della Regione dalla Cina). Lingue: Cinese cantonese e inglese Religioni: Senza religione (maggioranza);

Religioni asiatiche (Buddismo, Taoismo,Confucianismo); Cristianismo (11,7% con icattolici a più di 7%).

Arrivo di un sacerdote della RegioneFrancese nel 2012 per il suo annosabbatico, D. Remigiusz Kurowski.

Presenza attuale di un solo sacerdotePallottino che è capellano dellaComunità Cattolica Francofona.

2.4. HONG KONG(2012) Geographical location: Island located in

East Asia. Area: 1,104 km2. Population: 7,141,106 inhabitants (July

2015 estimation). Independence: 1997 (China resumed

control of the Region) . Languages: Chinese Cantonese & English Religions: Without a religion (majority);

Asian religions (Buddhism, Taoism,Confucianism); Christianity (11,7% withmore than 7% Catholics).

Arrival in 2012 of Fr. Remigiusz Kurowski,priest belonging to French Region, for hissabbatical year.

Current presence of one Pallottine priestwho is chaplain of the French speakingcatholic community in Hong Kong.

(estimazione CIA del luglio 2015). Indipendenza: 1945. Lingue: Vietnamita e inglese. Religioni: Nessuna religione professata

ufficialmente; Buddismo (varie scuole),Taoismo; Confucianismo; Cristianesimo(7 millioni di cattolici)

Arrivo del primo sacerdote Pallottinodella Regione Francese nell’ottobre 2015e del secondo nel febbraio 2016.

I due confratelli stanno imparandoattualmente la lingua e la cultura delpaese, aiutando anche la comunitàcattolica francofona di Saigon.

2.5. VIETNAM(2015) Geographical location: country in

Southeast Asia located east of theIndochina peninsula.

Area: 331,210 km2. Population: 94,348,845 inhabitants (July

2015 CIA estimation). Independence: 1945. Languages: Vietnamese & English Religions: Any religion officially practiced;

Buddhism (several schools); Taoism;Confucianism; Christianity (7 millions ofCatholics) .

In October 2015, arrival of the firstPallottine priest of the French Region andin February 2016 of the second one.

The two confreres are currently learningthe language and the culture of thecountry, helping also the French speakingcatholic community of Saigon.

Nessuna parrocchia affidata aiPallottini in Corea del Sud, 01parrocchia nelle Filippine, 02parrocchie a Taiwan, capellania dellacomunità cattolica francofona a HongKong, e aiuto pastorale alla comunitàcattolica francofona in Vietnam.

Varie sfide pastorali incontrate daiconfratelli nella loro missione.

Assistenza spirituale ai vari gruppiecclesiali che sono guidati dai laici.

Varie attività pastorali fate daiconfratelli nelle parrocchie e capellanie(buona preparazione ai sacramenti,visita agli ammalati, visita e preghieranelle famiglie).

A) Ordinary pastoral care in theparishes or at French‐speakingCatholic communities

Any parish entrusted to the Pallottines inSouth Korea, 01 parish in the Philippines,02 parishes in Taiwan, chaplaincy of theFrench‐speaking Catholic community inHong Kong, pastoral help the French‐speaking Catholic community in Vietnam.

Various pastoral challenges faced by theconfreres in their ministry.

Spiritual assistance to several ecclesialgroups led by lay people.

Various pastoral activities carried out bythe confreres in the parishes andchaplaincies (good preparation to receivesacraments, visit to the sick persons, visitand prayers in the families)

paesi dell’Asia Orientale a fareconoscere meglio il nostro SantoFondatore e la sua fondazione (UAC eSAC) per attrare nuove vocazioni.

Frutti visibili di un tale impegno inCorea del Sud con la presenza deiconfratelli Coreani nella Società, e aBacalod nelle Filippine con l’apertura diuna casa di formazione per i nostricandidati provenienti dall’AsiaOrientale.

Formazione dei laici nella conoscenzadel nostro carisma e nellaconsapevolezza della loro missione edel loro ruolo nella Chiesa, con sessionidi formazione organizzate per loro e illavoro di traduzione dei testi delPallotti e della nostra spiritualità.

B) Education and training Ministry Great commitment of our confreres in the

5 East‐Asia countries to do better knowour Holy Founder and his foundation(UAC & SAC) in order to attract newvocations .

Visible fruits of their commitment inSouth Korea with South‐Korean confrereswho joint our Society, and at Bacolod inthe Philippines with the opening of aformation house for our candidates fromEast‐Asia.

Training of lay people to the knowledge ofour charism and to the awareness of theirmission and role within the Church, withtraining sessions organized for them andthe translation’s job of some texts ofPallotti and of our spirituality.

accompagnata dalle opere dimisericordia

Impegno anche dei nostri confratellinella pastorale socio‐caritativa in AsiaOrientale con le opere di misericordiacorporale e spirituale.

Diverse attività sono organizzate inquesto senso: visita e assistanzaspirituale ai malati e alle personeanziane; aiuto ai poveri, bisognosi epersone deboli; sforzi caritativi a favoredei migranti; formazione e assistenzaspirituale e morale delle persone e deigruppi che vogliono vivere laspiritualità pallottina nell’UAC.

C) Socio‐charitable ministryaccompanied by works of mercy

Commitment also of our confreres inEast‐Asia in the socio‐charitable ministry,with corporal and spiritual works ofmercy.

In this sense, various activities areorganized: visit and spiritual assistance tothe sick and old persons; help to thepoorest, the weak, the needy and thesuffering; charitable efforts done formigrants; training and spiritual and moralassistance to people and groups thatwant to live the pallottine spirituality inthe Union of Catholic Apostolate.

della devozione e del culto allaDivina Misericordia

Voglia di continuare a proclamare neipaesi dell’Asia orientale il messaggiodella Misericordia Divina come unsegno distinvo della presenza Pallottina(promulgazione del messaggio di SantaFaustina Kowalska, diffusione del cultoe della devozione alla DivinaMisericordia).

Auspico di arricchire un tale impegnocon la diffusione anche del pensiero diSan Vincenzo Pallotti sulla DivinaMisericordia, pubblicando etraducendo alcuni dei suoi scrittipiù famosi nelle principali linguedei 5 paesi asiatici dove lavoriamoora.

D) Specific commitment in spreading thedevotion and worship of the DivineMercy

Will to continue the proclamation ofDivine Mercy message as the hallmark ofthe Pallottine presence in East‐Asiacountries (proclamation of St FaustinaKowalska message, spread of the worshipand the devotion to Divine Mercy).

It would be desirable to enrich such acommitment with also Saint VincentPallotti though on Divine Mercy, bypublishing and translating some of hismost famous writings in the mainlanguages of the 5 East‐Asia countrieswhere we are working now.
