«Дякую Богові моєму щоразу, коли вас згадую, завжди в кожній моїй молитві за всіх вас із радістю молившися,

за участь вашу в Євангелії від першого дня і досі…» (Фил. 1, 3-5)

Дорогі парафіяни нашого святого храму!

Такими словами подяки звернувся апостол Павло, на початку свого листа, до вірних церкви у Филипах, - такими ж словами подяки звертаюся і я, до кожного з Вас, на завершення мого служіння як священика, у цій парафії святого Івана Хрестителя в Нюарку.

Священик є тією особою, на яку рівняється кожен вірянин, а відтак, - і ціла парафія. Папа Франциск не раз наголошував, що пастир повинен «пахнути» своїми вівцями. Саме від священика люди очікують доброго прикладу, вміння вислухати, слова поради та молитовної підтримки. Але і для священика є великим даром та натхненням у служінні, добра громада, ревне життя парафіян у сучасному світі, серед непростих викликів бути учнем Ісуса.

Дуже швидко пролетіли ці п’ять років мого служіння тут серед Вас. Впродовж цих років ми пізнавали один одного, знайомилися, товаришували, працювали. Ми раділи нашими спільними досягненнями та успіхами; сумували, переживали та підтримували у хвилинах скорботи, бо наше життя переплітається нитками радості та смутку. Ми збагачували один одного своїми дарами і талантами, і в цьому є найбільше багатство, яке не вимірюється матеріальними благами.

В дивний спосіб, Господь кличе мене до нового служіння в Святій Церкві. Покликання до єпископського стану мені є зовсім невідоме, але, як людина віри, надіюся на Боже Провидіння та опіку Матері Божої Неустанної Помочі.

Щиро дякую Богу та всім Вам, за ці роки життя та служіння на парафії св. Івана Хрестителя в Нюарку. В особливій спосіб дякую отцю Тарасу Свірчуку, пароху цього храму, моєму співбрату у монашому житті, бо разом з ним ми будували як монашу, так і парафіяльну спільноту. Слова вдячності скеровую до всіх парафіян храму, за те, що стараєтеся жити глибоким духовним життям: кожної неділі приходите на Святу Літургію, користаєте зі Святих Тайн, по-християнськи виховуєте своїх дітей; готуєте благодійні сніданки та в різноманітні способи підтримуєте наш святий храм.

Кожен із Вас був, є і буде присутній у моїй молитві. Прошу також і Вас, пам’ятати мене у своїх молитвах, щоб через повірене мені служіння, багато людей пізнали, – який є Добрий Господь!

“I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel

from the first day until now…” (Phil. 1:3-5)

Dear parishioners of our holy church!

It is with these words of gratitude that St. Paul started his letter to the faithful of the church of Philippi – and it is also with these words that I turn to each and every one of you, at the end of my ministry as a priest here in the parish of St. John the Baptist in Newark.

A priest is the one to whom all the parishioners and the entire parish are compared. Pope Francis repeatedly emphasized that the shepherd must ”smell” of his sheep. It is from the priest that people expect to receive a good example, the ability to listen, words of counsel, and prayerful support. But for the priest, the greatest gift and inspiration is a good community within his ministry, parishioners who live a zealous life in this modern world, despite the difficult challenges that come with being disciples of Jesus.

These past five years of my ministry among you have passed very quickly. During this time, we have gotten to know each other, we have worked together, and we have become friends. We rejoiced together in celebrating our common achievements and successes, and we grieved together and supported each other in moments of sadness. Our lives are forever intertwined with threads of both joy and sorrow. We enriched each other with our many gifts and talents, sharing a great wealth that cannot be measured by any material goods.

The Lord now calls me to a new ministry within the Holy Church. The role of bishop is very unfamiliar to me, but as a man of faith, I hope for God's Providence and for the Mother of God's Unceasing Help.

I sincerely thank God and all of you for these years of ministry at St. John’s parish in Newark. In a special way, I thank Father Taras Svirchuk, the pastor of this church, my confrere, with whom I worked together to build a monastic and parish community. I thank all the parishioners of this church for trying to live a deeply spiritual life - you come to church, take part in the Divine Liturgy every Sunday, partake in the Holy Sacraments, raise your children in a Christian manner, prepare Sunday breakfasts for charitable causes, and in various ways support this holy church.

I will continue to pray for each and every one of you, and ask that you remember me in your prayers, so that in this new ministry with which I have been entrusted, people will see – how Great is the Lord!

”My love to all of you in Christ Jesus” (2 Cor. 16,24)

печерами та земними вертепами. І всі вони, дарма що мали добре засвідчення вірою, не одержали обіцяного, бо Бог зберіг нам щось краще, щоб вони не без нас осягли досконалість. Тому і ми, маючи навколо себе таку велику хмару свідків, відкиньмо всякий тягар і гріх, що так легко обмотує, і біжімо витривало до змагання, що призначене нам, вдивляючися пильно в Ісуса, засновника й завершителя віри, який, замість радости, що перед ним була, витерпів хрест, на сором не звертаючи уваги, і який возсів праворуч Божого престолу. Стихи на Алилуя: Мойсей і Арон між єреями Його і Самуїл між тими, що призивають ім’я Його. Призивали Господа і Він вислухав їх. Євангеліє: Від Івана 1: 43-51 В той час вирішив Ісус піти в Галилею; і знайшовши Филипа, мовив до нього: “Іди за мною.” А був Филип з Витсаїди, з міста Андрієвого та Петрового. Зустрів Филип Натанаїла і сказав до нього: “Ми знайшли того, про кого Мойсей у законі писав і пророки, - Ісуса Йосифового сина, з Назарету.” Натанаїл же йому на те: “А що доброго може бути з Назарету?” Мовив до нього Филип: “Прийди та подивися.” Побачивши Ісус, що Натанаїл надходив до нього, сказав про нього: “Ось справжній ізраїльтянин, що нема в ньому лукавства.” Натанаїл же йому: “Звідкіль знаєш мене?” Сказав Ісус, промовивши до нього: “Перше, ніж Филип закликав тебе, бачив я тебе, як був єси під смоковницею.” Відповів же йому Натанаїл: “Учителю, ти - Син Божий, ти - цар Ізраїлів.” Ісус відказав, мовивши до нього: “Тому, що я повідав тобі: Бачив я тебе під смоковницею, - то й віриш! Йде третій рік неволі та боротьби за свободу. Наш син, воїн України та доброволець Віталій Марків був несправедливо та без жодних підстав засуджений до 24-х років ув’язнення у тюрмі суворого режиму в Італії за вбивство італійського журналіста. Серце крається від болю, коли усвідомлюєш те, що твоя дитина, молодий чоловік, який захищав свою рідну країну від ворога сьогодні нічого не бачить окрім ґратів суворої в’язниці в чужій країні. Словами не передати ті переживання та біль, що відчуваємо кожного дня. На даний момент справа Віталія знаходиться на рівні апеляції і ми робимо все можливе для того аби довести його невинність. З перших днів ми відчули неабияку підтримку та допомогу небайдужих людей, друзів, знайомих, земляків та побратимів Віталія, українців у всіх куточках світу і тут в Америці зокрема, Український народ сильний та вміє розділяти горе інших людей. Ми щиро вдячні всім людям котрі будь яким чином долучилися до справи Віталія і продовжують це робити. У зв’язку з останніми подіями ми звертаємося до усіх небайдужих людей з проханням допомогти нашій сім’ї зібрати кошти для підтримки зйомки документального фільму-розслідування, що ставить під сумнів версію італійського суду про причетність Віталія до вбивства журналістів, таким чином доводячи його невинність. Дорогі українці, брати та сестри, просимо всіх бажаючих відвідати благодійний обід, що відбудеться 8 березня, у приміщенні церкви, зібрані кошти з якого будуть передані на зйомки вище згаданого фільму. This is the third year of wrongful imprisonment for our dear son, Vitaliy Markiv. During the horrible war between Ukraine and Russia, he was brave enough to volunteer and enlist in the army. While still enlisted in the Ukrainian military, Vitaliy traveled to Italy to visit his mother, where she currently works and lives, and in the airport was detained. Since then he’s been wrongfully sentenced to 24 years of maximum security prison in Italy for the killing an Italian journalist. Our heart aches in pain to think that our son, who defended his native country from the claws of Russia, today is held in captivity for something he has not done. We cannot describe our worry, tears, and agony to know that this is far from being over. At the moment, Vitaliy’s case is in the appeals phase and we are doing our best to prove his innocence. From the very first days of his imprisonment, we have found tremendous support and assistance from people around the world. Friends, fellow countrymen, and even other nationals have supported our son through rallies and demonstrations by the Ukrainian Consulates around the globe. We sincerely appreciate all the people who have added to Vitaliy’s case and eagerly continue to do so. Therefore, we ask, all those who are willing, to help us raise money to produce a documentary film which will contain all the necessary information to prove Vitaliy’s innocence. Dear Ukrainians, brothers and sisters, we invite you all to a charity bake sale, which will take place on March 8th, in the basement of the church. We thank you for visiting our sick, for your inspirational sermons, for your good advice, and for your friendship. We thank you for having been instrumental in installing a good sound system in our church, something for which we have waited for many years! As you set out on this new path in life, we wish you sound health, courage, perseverance, patience and a perpetually good mood.
