Apply@UniTO INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLICANTS

Before sending your online application, look for the foreign education system of reference for your high

school diploma/post-secondary qualification/undergraduate degree in the table below and find the

required documents to apply.

Please note that:

● You can enrol at an Italian university if you hold a qualification (high school diploma or equivalent)

obtained after 12 years of global schooling, provided that it grants access, in the foreign education system of

reference, to a degree program equivalent to the Italian program candidates wish to enrol at.

Moreover, these qualifications grant access to Italian universities if they have been obtained after attending at

least the last two years in the foreign education system of reference. If you have attended the last two years in

an institution belonging to a foreign education system, you also have to attach to your online application your

certificate of school subjects (transcript) of at least the last two years, provided with a certified translation into

Italian (the translation into Italian is not required if the original document is issued in English, French or Spanish).

● If you have attended a pre-school year, it may be included in calculating the 12 necessary years to

access Italian universities if the attendance of the pre-school year was mandatory and the course program

included the teaching of the native language of the country and basic arithmetic. In this case, the attendance of

the pre-school year has to be mentioned and included in your online application among the uploaded documents.

● If you hold a qualification obtained after 11 or 10 years of global schooling, please note that it does

not allow access to Italian universities unless you satisfy one of the following additional conditions:

● you attended one year (in case of 11 years) or two (in case of 10 years) years of university studies and

took all the exams foreseen by the first year (in case of 11 years) or the first two years (in case of 10 years) of the

degree program.

In this case, you also have to attach to your online application your transcript of records with a certified

translation into Italian (the translation into Italian is not required if the original document is issued in English,

French or Spanish);

● you obtained a post-secondary qualification to compensate for any missing years of secondary education

in a subject related to the degree program you wish to enrol in.

In this case, you also have to attach to your online application your transcript of records with a certified

translation into Italian (the translation into Italian is not required if the original document is issued in English,

French or Spanish);

● you attended a preparatory program (Foundation program) at the University of Torino or at another

Italian or foreign university officially recognized by the national Ministry of Education, to compensate the missing

year of schooling (in case of 11 years).

In this case, you also have to attach to your online application a certificate stating that you have successfully

completed the Foundation program as well as all the exams and ECTS credits/study hours, provided with a

certified translation into Italian (the translation into Italian is not required if the original document is issued in

English, French or Spanish).

As an example, education systems of Iran, Azerbaijian, Brazil (for qualifications obtained before 2006), Colombia,

Venezuela, Russia, Belarus, Peru, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Costa Rica do not require 12 years of global

schooling, therefore candidates have to satisfy the above additional requirements to access Italian universities.

● If a national entrance examination is required in your country to enrol at universities, the same exam is

required for admission into Italian universities as well, therefore make sure to attach it to your online application.

● All documents uploaded in your online application are accepted in Italian, English, French or Spanish. If

your documents are issued in a different language, you also have to attach a certified translation into Italian.

● If you have not obtained your final qualification (high school diploma/post-secondary

qualification/undergraduate degree) within the deadlines to send the online application through Apply@Unito, you

may upload a provisional certificate into your application, provided that you have to hold the final qualification

for the enrolment.

● If you hold an International Baccalaureat Diploma (IB diploma), please carefully read the instructions

on Apply@Unito homepage.

● Please be aware that the aim of this document is to support you in submitting a complete online

application through Apply@Unito and it is a non-exhaustive list of the the foreign education systems and required

documents that follows the yearly recommendations given by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and

Research (MIUR) in the Procedures for Entry, Residence and Enrolment at Higher Education Institutions for

students requiring visas for higher education courses in Italy.
