The acrylic glass panels for the tanning devices are producedof acrylic glass developed especially for this application. Theacrylics used are characterized by a particularly high UVpermeability and resistance, as well as an easy-care, hygienicsurface that is gentle to the skin.

The acrylic glass panels are formed to their shapes for thespecific devices in a technically complex production process.Despite state-of-the-art production know-how, the presence ofminor spots, air bubbles or streaks in the acrylic panels isunavoidable. In addition, hairline cracks can occur on the bedsurface during operation.

These occurrences are material-dependent and areunavoidable in processing, however have no significant effecton the utility value and can therefore not be recognized asdefects.

Cosmetics or sun screen products must be removed prior totanning as they can cause damage (e.g. cracks on thesurface) when used continuously.

We would like to point out that the devices are exclusivelyintended for use in the US and Canada, and may not beexported to other countries and operated there! Themanufacturer shall assume no liability whatsoever in case ofnon-observance! We explicitly emphasize that high liabilityrisks may occur for the exporter an/or the operator in case ofnon-observance.

Please note that only authorized service and installationpersonnel may be used for the service and installation, aswell as the start-up and extension of the Ergoline devices.

The electric connections must be undertaken in accordancewith local regulations by a company licensed for this purpose

Danger and safety notices fixed to the device may not beremoved or covered. The safety instruction must be easilyseen and must be adhered to. Safety installations (e.g. panelswitches or filter panels) may not be removed or taken out ofaction.

Further information can be taken from the operatinginstructions of the respective Ergoline device.

Depending on the model, Ergoline sunbeds emit a certainamount of UV rays at the place where they are installed. Thiscan cause possible discoloration or fading of the materialsused, such as: ceilings, wood, carpets, textiles, etc.For this reason make certain of the UV resistance of thematerials during planning.

Certain wavelengths are reliably filtered out by the lamp glassand the built-in filter panels in the UV low-pressure and UVhigh-pressure lamps used by Ergoline. Thus, the formation ofozone in damaging concentrations or of other odors is notpossible.

All Ergoline devices are intended for installation in dry roomswithout the danger of splash and drip-water. The maximumhumidity of this room may not exceed 70 %.

To prevent an excessively high temperature on the bedsurface of sunbeds, the room temperature should be amaximum of 3 to 4 °C / 5 to 7 °F higher than the outsidetemperature. However, the temperature in the room may notexceed 32 °C / 92 °F. The optimum temperature range is 25to 30 °C / 77 to 86 °F.Sufficient ventilation must always be ensured.

The devices may only be transported and stored attemperatures from 2 to 50 °C / 36 to 122 °F.

When installing sunbeds for professional use, you shouldalways make sure that the floors and ceilings in commerciallyused rooms are designed to support a maximum load of325 N/ft2.

Caution! The load-bearing capacity of wooden beam ceilingsmust be proven in individual cases.

If the actual maximum load exceeds this value, the operatormust provide separate documentary evidence in conformitywith DIN 1055 BL, June 3, 1971, for the use of these rooms.

Please note that the electrical connection may only be carriedout by an electrical contractor. The electrical installation mustcomply with national safety regulations.RecommendationsAt the site, we recommend a selective current-operatede.l.c.b. system (nominal ground current 30 mA) as well aslightning protection and a UPS installation for control and PCinstallations.Connection requirementsThe electrical installation must be fitted with a separator(switch) by the customer (contact distance > 3 mm / 1/8 in). Ifthe connection is via a plug connection, then the system mustconform to the requirements of the local electrical regulations!

The required connection voltages must lie within a tolerancerange of +/- 5% in order to ensure a malfunction-free andguaranteed operation of the devices. In the design of theelectric power lines, a simultaneity factor of 1 must beexpected. Time delay fuses must be supplied for protection.

The prescribed connection line per device is AWG TypeTHHN or AWG Type UL-Style 1283 or local equivalent.

The cross-section of the power lines must be selected inconformity with local regulations and depends on:• The length of the cable• The power cable connected to it• as well as a supply cable per device.

The mains connector cable must be laid prior to assembly ofthe device. In doing so, care must be taken to allow forcabling reserve, for instance in the tanning rooms, forconnection of further devices. We recommend direct mainsconnection, i.e. without making any additional external contactpoints on the equipment. Further information can be obtainedfrom the respective device descriptions. The arrangement of the power cables must be recorded bymeans of corresponding labeling for the later installation ofthe devices.

Data, bus and/or control cables must be laid with a minimumdistance of 10 cm from the mains supply. Therefore, thepower supply and the control cables must not be placed in thesame cabling trough.Ripple control system (TRA)In some cases, depending on the local power supplycompany, the sunbeds may adversely affect the mains supplynetwork in the building where the sunbeds are installed, causing interference with the ripple control system (TRA)operated by the power supply company. This may causemalfunctions, for example, of night storage heaters.

If the sunbeds cause this type of interference, the sunbedoperator is responsible for installing an audio frequencyblocking filter in the building wiring system. Please contactyour firm of electricians. Your firm of electricians will befamiliar with the technical connection conditions as applied byyour local power supply company and will thus be able tomatch the audio frequency blocking filter to the mains supplyof your power supply company.

Ergoline sunbeds with air conditioning make it possible toinfluence the temperature for the ergonomic panel, surroundair and the rooms. With the installed air-cooled airconditioning units, all essential factors involved in airconditioning can be adjusted throughout the entire year tomeet the user's wishes and requirements.

Air conditioning can• regulate the temperature of the warm air Cool;• regulate interior humidity Dehumidify in the summer;• Clean the interior air.

Air humidityRelative humidityAir is able to absorb water vapor. This ability to absorbincreases with increasing air temperature. For instance, 1 kg /2 3/16 lb air at 15 °C / 59 ºF can take up 10.78 g / 3/8 oz ofwater vapor but 20.34 g / 3/4 oz at 25 °C / 77 ºF.

If 1 kg / 2 3/16 lb of air at 25 °C / 77 ºF only contains 10 g /3/8 oz water vapor, then the air can absorb a further 10.34 g /3/8 oz. In this case, relative humidity is 50%.Absolute humidityAbsolute humidity is the mass of water vapor that can becontained in a kilogram of air. Maximum humidity xs isreached when the air is saturated with water vapor. Relativehumidity is then 100%.

Relative humidity ϕ is derived from the relationship betweenabsolute and maximum humidity: ϕ = X

Xs x 100%

ϕ = relative humidityx = absolute humidityxs = maximum humidity

Condensation waterAir-cooled air conditioning units have a surface temperatureof 4 to 12 °C / 39 to 54 °F. As the air cools, relative humidityincreases, as the ability to absorb water vapor decreases. Ifthe air temperature continues to fall, the temperature dropsbelow dewpoint temperature. The air is then no longer able tohold a part of the water vapor mass it contains, andcondensation occurs on the cooler surfaces. The water thusformed is referred to as condensation water. Absolutehumidity is reduced by this water mass.

Condensation drainageOn all air-cooled air conditioning units, condensation( condensation water) is expelled via the fan ring in thecondenser fan. Part of the condensation is evaporated orpumped off by the condensation pump and fed to acondensation container via a plastic hose. The amount ofwater given off varies and depends on the air as well as theoutput of the cooling system. Dehumidification output can beas much as 2.8 l / 3/4 gal per hour. When laying the plastichose, please ensure that the hose is not longer than20 meters / 65 ft 7 in and is not higher than 3 meters /9 ft 10 in. The amount of condensation per device can varyeven when there are the same devices in the same studio.

The sound pressure level measurement LpA is used at ameasuring distance d = 1 meter / d = 3 ft 3 in forcharacterizing the acoustic sources in an enclosed space. The measurement is carried out with exhaust air and aswitched-on main and body ventilator as well as airconditioning (when available, limiting temperature 68 °F).

Terms ExplanationsSound Sound is generated by mechanical vibrations. It propagates itself in gaseous, fluid and solid bodies.Frequency No. of vibrations per second. Unit: 1 Hertz = 1 Hz = 1/s. The pitch rises with the frequency. Frequency

range of human hearing: 16 Hz ... 20,000 Hz.Acoustic level A measure of the strength of the sound (acoustic energy).Decibel (db) Standard unit for the acoustic level depicted on a logarithmic scale.dB (A) As the human ear finds that different high tones (frequencies) of the same acoustic level have different

strengths, the noise must be correspondingly damped with filters at certain frequencies. The frequencyevaluation curve with filter A takes this into account and provides a subjective hearing impression. Adifference of 10 db (A) corresponds somewhat to a doubling (or halving) of the perceived noise level.

The JK corporate group is subject to the strict regulations ofEC Directive 761/2001 and the standard DIN ISO14001:1996, and undergoes regular internal and externalenvironment audits performed by trained auditors.

Disposal of lampsUV low-pressure lamps and UV high-pressure lamps containfluorescent materials and other waste containing mercury.According to the national waste disposal laws and inaccordance with the municipal waste regulations, proof mustbe provided of the proper disposal of UV lamps.

Your local environmental agency will be happy to assist youwith the disposal of UV lamps.

Installing “exhaust air ducting via a hanging ceiling and with a double rear wall” is anoptically elegant solution without using the central exhaust air bracket.

An intermediate wall (1) (e.g. chipboard) tightly enclosing the sunbed at the rearserves as an upward channel for the exhaust air (2), if required right up to the hangingceiling. So that the exhaust air is properly extracted, a slight vacuum is required be-hind the intermediate wall (1); an auxiliary fan must be installed if necessary.

With exhaust-air adapterA cut-out is mounted on the intermediate wall (see table for dimensions). A rubberprofile on the exhaust-air adapter (3) ensures an air-tight seal on the intermediatewall.

To cool the equipment, room or studio air is drawn in beneath the front panel (1) ofthe lower part of the sunbed and over the filter mats in the canopy (2) (inlet air).

The inlet air is first cleaned in a filter, then fed past the hot UV low-pressure and high-pressure lamps and finally expelled as warm exhaust air via the central exhaust airbracket (3) at the rear of the sunbed.

Surround air ventilation for the user is provided automatically. The intensity is adjust-able in 9 steps. Room or studio air is drawn in and used for cooling.

The air is fed through several nozzles over the whole length in the middle of thecanopy. In the head area there are two air nozzles that can be switched on sepa-rately.

Studio air is also supplied via the air inlet slots beneath the front panel of the sunbedbase and fed to two nozzles at feet level at the lying surface height, thus surroundingthe body with cooling air.

Depending on the equipment, the user can have a pleasant cooling mist (AQUAMIST) sprayed from the outer nozzles in the body area.

The user can preselect the temperature of the air conditioner (Temptronic) providedas standard equipment, and therefore adjust the temperature of the bed surface andbody air in accordance with his/her wishes.

Depending on the equipment, an air conditioner enables the additional climate controlof the bed surface and the body air.

Installing “exhaust air ducting via a hanging ceiling and with adouble rear wall” is an optically elegant solution without usingthe central exhaust air bracket.

An intermediate wall (1) (e.g. chipboard) tightly enclosing thedevice at the rear serves as an upward channel for the exhaustair (2), right up to the hanging ceiling. So that the exhaust air isproperly extracted, a slight vacuum is required behind theintermediate wall (1); an auxiliary fan must be installed if nec-essary.A cut-out is mounted on the intermediate wall (see table fordimensions).

To cool the equipment, room or studio air is drawn in beneath the front panel (1) andat the front edge of the canopy (inlet air), and cleaned in a filter.

This air is then fed past the hot UV low-pressure and high-pressure lamps and finallyexpelled as warm exhaust air via the central exhaust air bracket (2).

Body air is supplied to the user via two separate ventilation circuits in the sunbedcanopy and base. These circuits ensure that the entire body is surrounded by coolingair.

Intensity of the air supply is automatically controlled during the tanning procedure ona time-dependent basis. The two ventilation circuits can also be infinitely adjusted bythe user at any time.

An optional air conditioner provides additional air conditioning of the lying surface andfor the cool air from the tanning canopy.

Connection to a central exhaust air system upwards is possible. The aperturesintended for this purpose are located at the central exhaust air bracket.

Adequate ventilation of the equipment is possible up to an exhaust pipe length of12 m / 39 ft 4 in (without 90° bend). For exhaust pipe lengths greater than 12 m /39 ft 4 in, you require an additional fan.

The exhaust air bracket and warm air recycling can also be retrofitted.

Warm air recycling is a technically advanced, secure device by means of which partof the hot cooling air is fed back to the studio via a motor-controlled air choke. Athermostat provides fully automatic control of the studio temperature, between 15 °Cand 25 °C / 59 °F and 77 °F as required. 00025 / 2

A central air exhaust is only possible via a connection to a so-called double rear wall.

This intermediate wall (2) with exhaust air connection (1) (e.g. chipboard) is designedto fit directly against the rear side of the sunbed and serves as a channel for theexhaust air upwards, if required up to a hanging ceiling.

The corresponding dimensions of such a rear wall for cutting, as well as itspositioning, can be taken from the Chapter Dimensions. Warm air recycling to thestudio air conditioning is not provided with this type of tanning equipment.1. Exhaust air connection2. Intermediate wall (e.g. pressed chip board)3. Points that you must observe when planning inlet airand exhaust air ducting in the studio. When planning ventilation in the studio, you must ensurethat the required air throughput for each piece of equipmentis constant over the entire tube or hose system and is notreduced by obstructions.

To support the flow of exhaust air throughput, it may benecessary to take an additional fan in the system into ac-count, if applicable (see calculation example for design ofadditional fan).

The inlet air temperature must not exceed 40 °C / 104 °F.Temperatures in excess of 40 °C / 104 °F could impede theoperation of the sunbed.

Additional filtering of the inlet air is especially recommended.

There are 3 possible inlet and exhaust air assembly variantsfor Ergoline sunbeds. The following planning examples canbe applied to all Ergoline sunbeds contained in the sunbedrange presented in this Planning Manual. Additional infor-mation is a given in the respective device descriptions fordevices that make special requirements on installation.

When fitted with the correct central bracket for inlet andexhaust air, Ergoline sunbeds can also be operated with afree air outlet, i.e. without being connected to a ventilationsystem in the studio.

Installing “exhaust air ducting via a hanging ceiling and witha double rear wall” is an optically elegant solution withoutusing the central exhaust air bracket.

Caution! Before putting a tanning device into operation, thetransport pallet must be removed from under thetanning unit. Installation on the transport pallet mayresult in damage to the device due to obstruction ofthe air routing.

Inlet and Exhaust Connection With and Without Double Rear WallWith double rear wallWithout exhaust-air adapter: An intermediate wall (1) (e.g.chipboard) tightly enclosing the sunbed at the rear serves asan upward channel for the exhaust air (2), if required right upto the hanging ceiling.

So that the exhaust air is properly extracted, a slight vacuumis required behind the intermediate wall (1); an auxiliary fanmust be installed if necessary.

This installation variant is used mostly for single devices.

Inlet and exhaust air connection via a hanging studio ceiling with a separate exhaust air ductingsystem

02875 / 0

To utilize all the benefits of the innovative ventilation conceptof Ergoline sunbeds and to prevent the unnecessary heatingof the studio, we recommend that the inlet air for cooling theair conditioning units be supplied from outside via a filtered(as air-tight as possible) hanging ceiling and that the exhaustair be expelled to the outside via a separate hose or ductsystem.

Exhaust air connection is made using a separate, heat insu-lated ducting system (1) inside a hanging studio ceiling. Thespace in between the room ceiling and the hanging ceilingserves as a channelling space for the equipment inlet air.

Inlet and exhaust air connection via a hanging studio ceiling without an exhaust air ducting system

02876 / 0

If Ergoline sunbeds are connected with the exhaust airducting to a hanging studio ceiling without a separate ex-haust air ducting system (i.e. the space in between is all thatis used for exhaust air transport!), the required inlet air mustbe supplied from the studio ambient air.

In such cases, it is imperative that you ensure that the inletair is not drawn in from the warm air in the studio ceilingarea as this could result in the maximum permissible tem-perature of 40 °C / 104 °F being exceeded.
