Matteo Thun, 57 anni, architetto e designer, nato a Bolzano, hastudiato presso l’Accademia di Salisburgo con Oskar Kokoschka e

presso l’Università di Firenze. Dopo l’incontro con EttoreSottsass diventa co-fondatore del gruppo ‘Memphis’ a Milano e

partner di Sottsass Associati dal 1980al 1984. E’ professore della cattedra di design all’Università di Arti

Applicate a Vienna (Hochschule für Angewandte Kunst, Wien) dal 1983 al 2000. Nel 1984 apre il proprio studio

a Milano e diventa Art Director perSwatch dal 1990 al 1993.

Matteo Thun & Partners sviluppa progetti nei campidell’architettura e del design. Lo studio è composto da un team di

50 professionisti, tra architetti, designer e grafici. Il continuodialogo interdisciplinare determina il successo della “grande

famiglia” di via Appiani a Milano.

Design

Nel design Matteo Thun parte da un lavoro di sottrazione esemplificazione, dove il semplice non è impoverimento semantico

ma raffinatezza, come esito di un progressivo avvicinamentoall’essenza, alla forma iconica. La ricerca di questa semplicità ed

essenza si chiama “ZERO” Design.

Il design integra e completa i progetti di architettura e di interni diMatteo Thun & Partners: un edificio ha bisogno di interni, gli

interni hanno bisogno di oggetti e gli oggetti hanno bisogno deldesigner.

In 1984 heopens his own studio in Milan and also becomes Art Director for Swatch from1990 to 1993.

The studioincludes a team of 50 professionals, product designers, architects, graphicdesigners invested in a continuous interdisciplinary challenge, which is thesuccessful formula of the “big family” of via Appiani.

AArrcchhiitteeccttuurreeSustainability - economically, ecologically, socioculturally - is very much on the agenda at Matteo Thun & Partners, where it is a natural part of the approach that focuses on the user and the spirit of place to ensure that the client receives the best, most sustainable creationfor each individual location. ‘Ecotecture’ - the combination of architecture and ecology - is the architecture’s response to sustainable development.

DDeessiiggnnMatteo Thun’s philosophy of design means ‘ZERO Design’: an iconic form, pareddown to the essentials, the essence of pure form and function. To find the realcharacter of an object is key for his work - ‘ZERO Design’ means: essential, pureand sincere.

Student of Scarpa and Niemeyer, Dante Oscar Benini has desi-gned and constructed works throughout the world and has col-laborated on projects with Frank. O Ghery, Richard Meier,Arup, Daniel Libeskind.In 1997 he founded “Dante O. Benini & Partners Architects"which he directs as Leader Partner and Chairman together withLuca Gonzo, Senior Partner and Managing Director. With offi-ces in Milan, London and Istanbul, the Studio has several de-partments working in architectural design, urban planning,interior decorating, general and nautical design. Throughoutthe four corners of the globe, the creativity of its staff of approxi-mately 60 people has produced entire urban neighbourhoods,the headquarters of large corporations, industrial workshops, re-tail facilities and even exclusive clubs, homes, yachts and desi-gner pieces.The Studio has received numerous awards and honourablementions (most recently IN-ARCH 2009), and has won andplaced in many international competitions; it has also given se-minars and conferences both in Italy and abroad. Design? Forse....Teso può essere installato sia in orizzontale che inverticale e in entrambi i casi può anche essereutilizzato come elegante scalda salviette.

Teso...a warm travel companion, a discrete, accommodatingfriend that keeps things nice and tidy, offering a heaven-sentpoint where any source of disorder can be easily tucked away.Everything appears perfect and at the same time perfectly causal,never making one uncomfortable. Unusual musical instrument,always in mind but never realized.A free-form composition that dons a personal style, creating newinspirations for a decor that is never the same, never repetitive;imaginative designs that look outside the box, designs withpersonal flair that impart reassuring warmth that can go side-by-side with 'cold' moments. "Guardare al passato per disegnare il presente con ideeche guardano il futuro", questa è la filosofia progettualedi Francesco Lucchese che sviluppa i progetti cercando

un rapporto con l'azienda per costruire strategie.Aggiungere all'estetica la funzionalità e l'emotività

legata all'utilizzo ed al possesso di un oggetto sono gliingredienti del suo progettare.

Tutti i progetti di Francesco Lucchese vengonorealizzati in modo da diventare un'esperienza; l'attività

sensoriale diventa primaria durante l'utilizzo di unprodotto o percorrendo un allestimento. La vista, i

suoni, il profumo, la tattilità sono la ricerca che consentedi dare forza al progetto e alla comunicazione delle sue

peculiarità. L'attività di architetto si definisce attraversoprogetti rilevanti sia in Italia che all'estero come una

multisala ed un albergo a Sofia, uno showroom aShanghai e uno in Brasile. Parallelamente procede

l'attività di docenza al Politecnico di Milano presso laFacoltà del Design qualificandosi attraverso esperienze

di insegnamento all'estero.

"Look to the past to design the present with ideas that peer into thefuture", this is the design philosophy of Francesco Lucchese, adesigner who when developing a project, seeks to establish relationswith the firm, thus building strategies. Blending functionality and thethrill of using and owning an item with beauty are the basicingredients of his way of designing.All of Francesco Lucchese's projects are designed to become anexperience: sensory perceptions are foremost both when using aproduct and when viewing an installation. The look, the sounds, thescent, the feel. All come together, imparting strength, communicatingthe project's uniqueness. The architect's work can be seen, both inItaly and abroad, in such major projects as the multiplex cinema andhotel in Sophia, a showroom in Shanghai and one in Brazil. At the same time he also teaches at the Design Faculty of thePolitecnico of Milan, and his resume also includes experiencesteaching abroad.

Maunakea è costituito da due forme geometriche pure che siintegrano e danno vita a un soggetto innovativo e

contemporaneo. Si distingue per la particolarità delle lineedisegnate intorno al fuoco che ricordano la forma di un

vulcano. Sull’estremità un elemento circolare, in vetro, di raccordo a

parete, segue il profilo della bocca per un sorprendente effettoscenografico; questo elemento, che garantisce la massima

efficienza del camino, può essere personalizzato con differenticolori (200 della scala Ral) a seconda dell’ambiente nel quale

viene inserito.

Maunakea è realizzato in acciaio verniciato con verniciresistenti alle alte temperature.

Il caminetto ha un diametro di un metro e sporge dalla parete55 cm. L'anello a parete, in vetro, ha un diametro di 110 cm.

Maunakea is formed by two pure geometric shapes which completed eachother setting up a contemporary and innovative subject.It stands out for the peculiarity of its line designed around the fire, recalling theshape of a volcano.A glass circular element, functioning as a connection to the wall, is placed at theextremity of the fireplace, it follows the outline of the stock-hole leading to asurprising spectacular effect; this element, which grants the maximumefficiency of the fireplace, can be personalized with different colours (200finishing belonging to the Ral scale) depending on where it will be placed in.

Maunakea is made of painted steel with paints high temperature proof. The fireplace is one meter in diameter and it stretches out of 55 cm from the wall.

The glass ring on the wall is 110 cm in diameter.

vita, tra l’altro, a Cod_e, radiatore dalla forma semplice e pulita. La sua struttura lineare, caratterizzata da una piastra liscia con

bordi arrotondati, racchiude un sistema elettrico chemassimizza la resa termica, riduce gli ingombri e i consumi di

energia anche grazie al controllo remoto a radio frequenza.Lo scambio termico che avviene sia per irraggiamento che per

convezione consente un’immediata reattività e ottimizza ladissipazione termica.
