Il Gruppo Policlinico di Monza

“Policlinico di Monza” is a private health care provider whi-ch furnishes complete management of general hospital acti-vities, from functional duties to financial duties. Policlinico diMonza has a code of values which reflects its company mis-sion, operating as an ethical company.

The hospital was founded in 1993 with the acquisition ofEporediese Clinic. Since then, the Group, thanks to a harmo-nious synthesis between developmental policy and companyconsolidation, purchased and developed the following hospi-tals:

Policlinico di Monza offers the best electromedical systemsavailable on the market, particularly within the DiagnosticsImaging Department, headed by Prof. Toufic Khouri.The hospital has two distinct radiology capacities: one for ho-spitalised patients only, and the other, exclusively for outpa-tients’ services.During 2011 were installed TC 750 Veo 128 slice GE and theMR 450 Short Wide Bore 1.5 Tesla GE.

Policlinico di Monza is the main hospital of the Group whe-re you will find the highest level of medical and surgical ex-pertise. Of particular importance, are the outstanding heartsurgery, cardiology, orthopaedics, neurosurgery and rehabili-tation activities carried out.

Each of Policlinco di Monza’s departments houses a univer-sity department – for example, the Cardiology Departmentheaded by Professor Giuseppe Specchia works with the Uni-versity of Pavia; the Orthopaedics Department headed byProfessor Francesco Pipino works with the University of Ge-nova; the Ophthalmology Department headed by ProfessorStefano Miglior works with the University of Milano-Bicocca;and the Rehabilitation Department works with the Universityof Milano-Bicocca. Another opportunity offered by the Brea-st Unit is the reduction of medical errors: group discussions re-present a valid method of control of therapeutic decisions andmarkedly decrease the chances of error.Discussions also imply the update and the interchange of infor-mation with resultant improvement of the scientific quality ofall members of the group.

Institute of OncologyIn 2010 the Policlinico di Monza has established the Instituteof Oncology and has appointed as its Clinical and Scientific Di-rector Professor Emilio Bajetta, formerly Chairman of the De-partment of Medical Oncology of the National Tumor Institu-te of Milan and Past President of the Italian Association forMedical Oncology of which he was a founding member.The Institute of Oncology is characterized as a centre of ex-cellence capable of providing all the measures that are ne-cessary in order to be able to manage complex oncological si-tuations.

The Institute of Oncology is connected with the Units of In-ternal Medicine, General Surgery, Urology, Neurology, Neu-rosurgery, Plastic Surgery and the Departments of Diagno-stic Imaging, Pathology, Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, Radia-tion Therapy, Psycology and the Breast Unit.The Istitute of Oncology is therefore a structure capable ofproviding excellent health care services in the fields of dia-gnosis, therapy and psycological support to the patient.The Department of Diagnostic Imaging, makes use of 3 Ma-gnetic Resonance, 3 Computerized Axial Tomografy, 3 digitalMammograpy, 11 multidisciplinary ultrasound scanners.The Institute of Oncology utilizes the Department of Histo-logy and Pathology that performs Histopathologic and Im-munohistochemical analysis and with the Department of Ga-strointestinal endoscopy that possesses 3 videocolonscopicand 3 gastroscopic endoscopes of the most recent genera-tion.The Institute of Oncology comprises all the Surgical Units, in-cluding General Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Neurosurgery,Urology, Plastic Surgery.The Unit of Medical Oncology has 14 beds and 10 technicalstations for the administration of chemiotherapic drugs.The Department of Radiation Therapy of the Institute of On-cology of the Policlinico di Monza has the most modernequipment, in particular 2 Linear Accelerator, and 2 Hy-perthermia cancer treatment systemsFurther, there is the possibility of utilizing the PhysiokinteticService of the Functional Rehabilitation Center for thecarrying out lymphatic drainage. The Institute of Oncology has a Psycology Service capable offollowing the patient during the entire course of time of thediagnosis and cure of the illness.
