MERAVIGLIA IMPERFETTA

la complessa alchimia della passione

Altrove ho scritto che la bellezza ha bisogno di un difetto per riposarsi e intenerirsi, per uscire dal freddo imperturbabile della statua marmorea e guadagnare carne. Da vent’anni gli instancabili pionieri dell’imprecisione che hanno dato vita a Imperfettolab, inseguono una bellezza che ami la contaminazione, che eluda i canoni dell’estetica, che scavalchi i confini tra arte e artigianato, tra natura e artificio, tra utilità e poesia, in un gioco da equilibristi, che in bilico tra diversi estremi, siano riusciti a percorrere il loro filo, fino all’altra sponda.Il concetto dell’opera d’arte totale, che invade la vita quotidiana e pervade ogni oggetto che incontriamo nei semplici accidenti del vivere, è un implicito omaggio all’utopia preraffaellita di William Morris, spogliatasi dei panni medioevali, e passata attraverso le geometrie astratte della secessione e all’illuminato razionalismo del Bauhaus. Il design che questo laboratorio “famigliare” ci propone, non potrebbe essere più lontano dall’industria, l’imperfezione ha infatti bisogno delle mani di un uomo, dei suoi irripetibili gesti, della sua autonomia di pensiero che incrina d’immagini nuove, la superficie mutevole della memoria, proprio come i sassi lanciati, spezzano lo specchio lucido del lago. Le opere che prendono vita in questa fucina di trasfigurazioni dalla natura alla chimica, vanno a popolare il nido di una casa aggregatasi intorno alle esperienze vissute, ai paesaggi seccati e conservati tra le pagine del ricordo, pagine che diventano muri e spazi abitati dall’armonia. Da sempre la natura è maestra di forme e di grazia per i creativi d’Imperfettolab, infatti in ciascuno dei loro oggetti, anche l’astrazione più cruda conserva il nucleo di un frutto lucido, la sezione di un tronco, l’architettura tortile di una conchiglia o la struttura di un fungo, come se l’immaginazione che li ha resi possibili, pur spaziando in terreni inesplorati abbia mantenuto una radice aerea capace di collegarli alla terra e ai suoi cicli vitali, alle loro origini e a quelle del mondo.

Elsewhere I wrote that beauty needs a flaw in order to rest and soften, to leave the imperturbable cold of the marble statue and gain flesh.For twenty years the tireless pioneers of imprecision who gave birth to Imperfettolab, have been pursuing a beauty which loves contamination, eludes aesthetic canons, goes beyond the boundaries between art and craftsmanship, between nature and artifice, between utility and poetry, in an equilibrist game, a balancing act between different extremes, and have managed to walk their rope, to the other side.The concept of Gesamtkunstwerk, which invades daily life and pervades every object we meet in simple incidents of life, is an implicit tribute to the Pre-Raphaelite utopia of William Morris, stripped of medieval garments, and passed through the abstract geometries of secession and enlightened Bauhaus rationalism. The design that this “family” laboratory offers us, couldn't be further from industry, imperfection indeed has the need for a man's hands, for his unique gestures, for his autonomy of thought that cracks with new images the changing surface of memory, just like stones thrown, breaking the polished mirror of the lake.The works that come to life in this forge of transfiguration from nature to chemistry, populate the nest of a house assembled around life experiences, dry landscapes which are treasured in the pages of memory, pages that become walls and spaces inhabited by harmony. Nature has always been the master of form and grace for the creatives of Imperfettolab, in fact in each of their objects, even the rawest abstraction retains the core of a glossy fruit, the section of a trunk, the spiral architecture of a shell or the structure of a mushroom, as if the imagination that made them possible, though extending into unexplored lands, has kept an aerial root which connects them to the earth and its life cycles, to their origins and to those of the world.
