Luca si presenta ai nostri occhi con l’incanto e la curiosità delicata del fanciullo che cerca il “mistero”

celato dalla realtà che lo circonda. Quello che vediamo non esiste: si tratta di immagini inviate ai

nostri sensi dalle convenzioni che ci tengono legati. Ogni cosa che ci circonda non ha un fondamento

al di fuori della nostra mente: le case, le strade, la natura, le persone sono virtuali, un inganno per dare

senso a quello che facciamo. Luca non ci da un finale, non ci svela risposte, non ci spaventa nè ci

tranquillizza, ma ci invita semplicemente ad avere il tempo di soffermarci in solitudine a cercare

quello che c’è sotto la superficie.

Luca appears to our eyes with the charm and gentle curiosity of the child who seeks the “mystery”

hidden from the world around him. What we see does not exist: only images sent to our senses by

the conventions which bind us together. Everything around us has no basis outside of our minds:

the houses, the streets, nature, people are all a virtual deception to give meaning to what we do.

Luca does not give us answers rather he reveals questions, he does not scare us nor calm us, he

simply invites us to have time to dwell in solitude to look for what’s under the surface.

La nuova mostra che si inaugura mercoledì 11 novembre a Ganzo, il laboratorio didattico creativo di Ganzo, riesce a farci conoscere

oltre alla bravura artistica di un talento fiorentino della pittura contemporanea, anche la sua sensibilità e soprattutto il suo modo

di interpretare la realtà attraverso un percorso profondo di visione del mondo che appare e che può contenere altre verità, forse

invisibili ai più…

La pittura per di Castri è certamente la testimonianza concreta del suo modo di volere avvicinarsi alle pieghe della vita in tutta la

sua complessità, ma, nel contempo, a un dolce sapore della memoria evocativa, intatta.

La mostra Appearances #6 rappresenta la sesta tappa di altre performance che sono iniziate da Fiesole per arrivare sino a Strasburgo.

Ogni mostra ha avuto in esposizione opere anche diverse, ma con un filo conduttore comune che è proprio quello dell’evidenziare

ciò che si vede e che si potrebbe vedere, ciò che è intatto e puro nella memoria e ciò che nell’andare avanti nella vita si cerca,

trovando o non trovando, ciò che và oltre l’apparenza.

Le pennellate decise, i colori, il languore di certe figure e altro che troverete in mostra sono la sintesi di un lavoro creativo di un vero

pittore che è riuscito nel suo intento di trasmettere le sue emozioni attraverso mirabili tele che rispecchiano la sua anima.

Contemporary florentine artist Luca di Castri wiil be showing an important collection in the Ganzo Gallery restaurant. The exhibit will be

opening Wednesday November 11, 2015 from 6:00 pm on. The show will be on display until December 15, 2015.

Appearances #6 will feature 20 works.

Luca’s most current series, Appearances #6 is one that questions the line between reality and illusion. He uses objects and ideas from his

past work in theater, such as his use of curtains and spotlights. He uses the curtains to question what is real and to help the viewer look

beyond the scene in order to reveal the truth behind it. This series has a strong focus on the role of the peasant and depicts the idea of how

these people are the ones who worked to lay the foundation of our world today. His works connect to the livelihoods of fishermen, farmers,

cultivators, and masons. Luca works to create ambiguity as he forces us to question what is on the surface and what can be found beyond it.

“The title is congenial to the way Luca di Castri expresses himself, for his original, subtle peeking into the absurdity of symbolist layouts.

Backgrounds where colour prevails, hanged up clothes, illusionistic disorder is implemented by Luca, with the irony and the artistic ability

that belong to him, always renewing his field of interest...as Giuliana Giusti (2013) says.

The Artist has always loved working with his hands and has been drawing since he was a child. As a student Luca studied graphic design

and began working in the field. However, once computers began to replace the use for hands on work, he decided it was time to change his

profession, as he was passionate about working directly with his hands. Luca went on to study theater, where he did work in costume and set

design as well as acting. After finishing school, Luca worked part time as a waiter, while continuing his artistic pursuits. After a while, he realized

that he wanted to create art full time and began to apply for jobs in decoration. He found a job making reproductions of ancient and classical

artworks, but after fifteen years, he decided that it was time for him to start creating his own work full time and develop his identity as an artist.

Nasce nel 1972 a Firenze. Ha studiato grafica e fotografia all’Istituto d’Arte di Firenze e cinema e teatro al D.A.M.S. di Bologna.

Ha lavorato nel teatro realizzando scenografie e costumi e nel ruolo di performer. Nel 2003 ha ottenuto una borsa di studio per

approfondire le tecniche di incisione a Creta, nell’ambito del progetto europeo Leonardo.

Inizia ad esporre in personali e collettive dalla metà degli anni Novanta e a partecipare a fiere e concorsi ottenendo riconoscimenti di

pubblico e critica, come: il secondo premio al concorso Cromica a Bibbiena nel 2012; il primo premio al concorso Caran d’Ache a Firenze

nel 2011; il secondo premio al concorso per il centenario del Manifesto Futurista indetto dal Caffè Storico Letterario Giubbe Rosse di

Firenze nel 2010; il premio manifesto/copertina al Premio Italia per le Arti Visive nel 2009 curato dalla rivista Eco d’arte moderna e il

primo premio al concorso internazionale Piccolo Formato della Galleria La Pergola Arte di Firenze nel 2008.

La prima personale, “La fabbrica delle nuvole” è presso la Libreria antiquaria Focardi di Firenze nel 1997 a cui fanno seguito, tra le

principali, nel 2002 “Cosmopoli”, con catalogo a cura di E. Mazzini, a Villa Bandini a Firenze, con il patrocinio del Comune di Firenze;

nel 2007 “Limine” allo Spazio Art-Art a Impruneta; nel 2008 a Villa Magnaguti a Cerlongo di Goito; nel 2011 “Notturni” allo Studio

Ardesia a Firenze; nel 2012 “Viaggio blu” alla Galleria Studio d’arte 102 ad Alessandria; nel 2013 a Fiesole “Apparenze” con catalogo a

cura di G. Faccenda; nel 2015, “Apparenze#3” a Milano, “Apparences” a Strasburgo (Francia) e “Apparenze#5” ad Arezzo.

Tra le rassegne ricordiamo nel 1995 “Artisti al muro!” all’ex stazione Leopolda a Firenze; nel 2003 “Innesti Doc 2003” a Panzano in

Chianti nell’ambito di Tuscia Electa; nel 2009 “Symbolica” allo Studio E. Riotto a Pietrasanta; nel 2010 “Nuovo Umanesimo” alla Galleria

Logos a Roma; nel 2011 “Teleporto - arte fuori onda” all’Aula del Mare ad Ancona; nel 2012 “Viaggio nel contemporaneo” a Saragiolo-

Siena; nel 2013 “Nuove Conexion” a La Plata (Argentina); nel 2014 “Manufaktura Satyry” a Zyrardow, in Polonia.

Nel 2010 il Museo di arte moderna e contemporanea Telesiamuseum di San Roberto, Reggio Calabria, acquisisce il quadro “Toro in

Aspromonte”; nel 2011 realizza tre grandi formati per il Caffè Storico Letterario Giubbe Rosse di Firenze.

Nel 2012 è invitato a “Innovative tradition art&design - Whirlpool”, Fuori Salone a Milano.

Suoi quadri sono presenti in collezioni pubbliche (Villa Bandini, Firenze; Telesiamuseum, San Roberto, Reggio Calabria, Comune di

Fiesole) e private in Inghilterra, Grecia, Stati Uniti, Germania, Francia, Turchia, Svizzera e Italia.

Luca di Castri was born in Florence in 1972. He began studying art and graphic design at the Art Institute of Florence. He then moved

to Bologna where he studied theater, and worked not only as a set and costume designer, but also as an actor. It was not until the mid-

nineties that he began showing his work in solo and group exhibitions. His work was greatly loved by critics and the public, which offered

him the opportunity to win he several awards. Most of di Castri’s exhibitions have taken place in Florence, though he has also shown his

work throughout Italy in cities like Milan, Rome, Arezzo, Lucca, and Siena. His works have even been displayed in other countries around

Europe in locations such as Strasbourg, France and Zyrardow, Poland. Currently di Castri has works of art in many public and private

collections all over the world.
