Circa 30 chilometri prima di Ouarzazate, si trova

uno straordinario esempio di architettura

tipica del Marocco meridionale, Patrimonio

dell’Umanità dell’UNESCO dal 1987 : Ait – Ben –

Haddou.

About 30 kilometers before Ouarzazate, is located Ait – Ben -

Haddou a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1987 and a

majestic example of South Moroccan

architecture. This once important city, on the

caravan route between the Sahara desert and the city of Marrakech,

during the last few years has become a significant historical site

and a very popular touristic destination.

The surrounding landscape is breathtaking and every minute spent here is worth it. It’s for this reason that several films have been shot

there, including Lawrence of Arabia. The city of Ouarzazate lies in the

southern part of Morocco. It derives its name from a Berber phrase

meaning « without noise » or « without confusion »: it offers an extraordinary

mixture of oasis, kashbahs and lush valleys and it’s the perfect

starting point for tourists on their way to the Sahara Desert.
