[IT] LAGO intende il design come uno strumento di trasformazione sociale, capace di portare un cambiamento positivo nel modo di vivere gli spazi, di generare empatia tra gli interni e le persone che li abitano, di proporsi come un rappresentativo vettore di cultura e significato; per questo, ogni anno, si propone di indaga-re e interpretare un tema che sia rilevante per la società contem-poranea. Il principio ispiratore scelto per la Design Week 2017 è la gentilezza. Convinti che in questo periodo storico ve ne sia un forte bisogno, abbiamo cercato di esplorare e definire questa forza virtuosa in grado di generare cambiamento, innescando una riflessione che, a partire dalle nostre azioni quotidiane, si è ali-mentata anche grazie ad un confronto collaborativo con otto donne italiane di chiara fama e con docenti e studenti del Poli-tecnico di Milano. Il percorso di ricerca parte da tre semplici domande: gentilezza che cos’é? Da dove viene? Dove si trova? Le risposte, soggettive e mai uguali, sono state il punto di parten-za per indagare attraverso il design questo principio così potente e capace di migliorare la vita. Il progetto identificato dal claim “Never Stop Living Kindness” è presentato durante la Design Week 2017 con una mostra diffusa che coinvolge più location. L’allestimento del Salone del Mobile ospita otto interni “gentili” ispirati ad altrettante donne italiane che operano in vari campi della società. Nel cuore del Fuorisalone, l’Appartamento LAGO di via Brera 30 diventa teatro di una riflessione progettuale inter-disciplinare da parte di studenti e docenti della Scuola del Design. In CASA LAGO, infine, nuovo headquarter di via San Tomaso 6, la gentilezza viene esplorata attraverso i temi dell’ospitalità e dell’accoglienza.

[EN] For LAGO, design is a tool for social transformation that can generate empathy between interiors and the people who use them, serving as a representative bearer of culture and meaning and bringing positive change to the way people live in spaces. This is why each year we select a theme relevant to contempo-rary society to interpret and explore. Our main inspiration for Design Week 2017 is kindness. Convinced that there is a real need for kindness at this particular moment in history, we set out to explore and define it. And our focus on kindness, a virtuous strength capable of generating change, triggered reflection that, beginning with our everyday actions, was nourished in part by collaborative discussion with eight renowned Italian women and a group of professors and students from the Politecnico di Milano.Our research was based on three simple questions: What is kin-dess? Where does it come from? Where is it found? The answers, all subjective and never the same, were the starting point for exploring this powerful principle, which has the capacity for im-proving lives, through design. The project ‘Never Stop Living Kin-dness’ will be presented during Design Week 2017 in a multi-lo-cation exhibition. At the Salone del Mobile, we will present eight ‘kind’ interiors and eight Italian women who work in various parts of society. In the heart of the Fuorisalone, the Appartamen-to LAGO at Via Brera 30 will become the site of interdisciplinary reflection on design by students and professors from the Design School. Finally, at CASA LAGO, our new headquarters at Via San Tomaso 6, kindness will be explored through the theme of hospi-tality

[IT] La gentilezza è universale, non ci sono dubbi. Eppure, per una serie di motivi impalpabili ma evidenti, sembra risiedere con gran-de naturalezza nel mondo femminile. Abbiamo quindi identificato la donna come figura portatrice di gentilezza innata, musa ispira-trice di un nostro progetto di Interior che tenti di dare un’inter-pretazione a questo concetto così astratto. Per indagare e svi-luppare il tema della gentilezza, abbiamo realizzato otto interpretazioni di Interni ispirati a otto donne rappresentative di otto diversi mondi, perché la gentilezza si può trovare ovunque: la danzatrice Carla Fracci, la designer e architetto Cristina Ce-lestino, la scrittrice Chiara Gamberale, la stilista Patrizia Pepe, la pallavolista Maurizia Cacciatori, l’imprenditrice Camilla Lunelli, la donna smartworker di Intesa Sanpaolo e Lella Golfo, presidente della Fondazione Bellisario. Otto donne che hanno ispirato la creazione di otto Interior al centro della riflessione LAGO: luoghi che esprimono la personale visione del concetto di gentilezza di queste protagoniste, ambienti rivelatori di un’attitudine a vivere la propria casa come uno spazio intimo ma capace di aprirsi al contatto e al confronto con gli altri.

[EN] Kindness is universal, this much is clear. And yet, for a series of intangible but evident reasons, it seems to be especially at home in the female sphere. We have therefore identified ‘woman’ as the bearer of innate kindness, the inspiring muse of our Interior project, which has the goal of trying to offer an interpretation of this extremely abstract concept. To explore and develop the the-me of kindness, we created eight interiors inspired by eight wo-men representing eight different worlds, since kindness is found everywhere: the dancer Carla Fracci, the architect and designer Cristina Celestino, the writer Chiara Gamberale, the stylist Patri-zia Pepe, the volleyball player Maurizia Cacciatori, the entrepre-neur Camilla Lunelli, the ‘smartworking’ woman of Intesa Sanpa-olo and Lella Golfo, president of the Fondazione Bellisario. Eight women who inspired eight Interiors, central to LAGO’s reflection on kindness: places that express their personal visions of the con-cept of kindness, settings that reveal an openness to the home as an intimate space but also one that welcomes contact and dialo-gue with others.

An illustrious dancer and innately elegant woman, she has given ballet high visibility among the broader public, bringing her art to theatres and piazzas everywhere and transmitting her love for dance, music and harmony through her talent. Nobility, purity and elegance are the key concepts for the interior dedicated to her, White reflections: the purity of white pervades the entire space and becomes radiant and ethereal thanks to the multipli-cation of reflections on the large mirrored doors of the wardrobe. A minimalist dance bar, supported by transparent glass, characte-rises the star’s space, serving as a meeting point between the language of dance and that of the interior, both able to read and express diverse sensibilities.

Una raffinata messa in scena che, a prima vista domestica e confiden-ziale, si apre all’infinito trasfigurando l’idea stessa di stanza. Un luogo onirico, che raggiunge la massima poesia grazie ai mobili sospesi della linea Air. I tessuti, disegnati su misura dalla designer per il sistema Et Voilà, creano un unico fil rouge con i tendaggi, passando da armadi a lucernari, e sfondando il soffitto verso di-mensioni sognanti.

[EN] Il cielo in una stanza: The image evoked by the space imagi-ned by Cristina Celestino leads towards far-off places. A refined mis-en-scene that, at first appearing domestic and intimate, opens up to the infinite, transforming the very idea of a room. A dre-am-like space that reaches the height of poetry thanks to the su-spended furniture of the Air line. The fabrics, custom designed by the designer for the Et Voilà system, create a unique common thre-ad with the curtains, passing from the wardrobes to the skylights, and breaking through the ceiling towards a dreamlike dimension.

Tra il suo ricco palmarès, vanta 228 presenze in nazionale e un premio come miglior palleggiatrice ai mondiali 1998 in Giappone. [IT] Home sweet office: l’ufficio della gentilezza è un luogo in grado di dar voce alle donne di Intesa Sanpaolo che ogni giorno affrontano con determinazione la gestione di lavoro e famiglia. Il progetto “Lavoro Flessibile”, adottato dal Gruppo dal 2016, ha come scopo quello di ricercare un punto di incontro e di equilibrio tra le esigenze dell’azienda e le esigenze personali. Un cambiamento culturale nella concezione del lavoro, volto a migliorare motivazione e produttività e a portare benefici sia alle persone sia all’azienda. Partendo dalla convinzione che la gentilezza nel mondo del lavoro consista nell’offrire la possibilità di svolgere la propria attività nel modo e nel luogo migliore per ognuno, l’interior dedicato alle donne di Intesa Sanpaolo assume la forma di una casa completa, a misura di donna, pensata per lo smartworking e per ospitare lavoro e vita familiare in un ambiente consacrato alla concentrazione e al benessere ispirato alle tipiche coperture delle serre dei palazzi nobiliari.

[EN] Home sweet office: the kind office is a place that gives voice to the women of Intesa Sanpaolo who deal with the management of work and family with determination, each and every day. The aim of the ‘Flexible Work’ project, adopted by the banking group in 2016, is to find a meeting point and balance between company needs and personal needs. A cultural change in the conception of work aimed to improve motivation and productivity and benefit both individuals and the company. Starting with the conviction that kindness in the work world is about offering the opportunity to work in the best place and way for each individual, the interior dedicated to the women of Intesa Sanpaolo takes the form of a complete house, tailored to women and designed for ‘working smart’ and hosting work and family life in a setting that is devoted to concentration and well-being, inspired by the typical greenhouse roofs of aristocratic palaces.

Lella GolfoPresident of Fondazione Bellisario

[IT] Giornalista pubblicista, Commendatore e Cavaliere della Re-pubblica, la sua vita è una storia d’impegno sociale e per le donne. Lella Golfo è Presidente della Fondazione Marisa Bellisa-rio, nata nel 1989: un ente morale che ha permesso di riconosce-re e valorizzare il talento di imprenditrici, manager e professioni-ste, ma anche donne impegnate nella conquista dei diritti umani e civili. Ha abbracciato il progetto LAGO nella convinzione che “diffondere e invitare alla gentilezza oggi significhi osare, andare controcorrente ma anche provare a dare il proprio contributo a un mondo migliore.” E la gentilezza, per Lella Golfo, è donna: “Credo nella forza e nel potere della gentilezza: sarà la ‘bellezza gentile’ a salvare il mondo.”

[EN] Freelance journalist, Commendatore and Knight of the Italian Republic, her life is a story of commitment to social and women’s issues. Lella Golfo is president of the Fondazione Marisa Bellisario, founded in 1989, a charitable organisation that recognises and promotes the talent of female entrepreneurs, managers and pro-fessionals, as well as women dedicated to human and civil rights. She embraced the LAGO project in the conviction that ‘today, spreading and encouraging kindness means being daring, going against the crowd, but also trying to make your own contribution for a better world.’ And for Lella Golfo, kindness is woman: ‘I believe in the strength and power of kindness: “kind beauty” is what will save the world.’

[IT] Scrittrice italiana tradotta in 18 lingue, ha esordito nel 1999 con Una vita sottile, a cui sono seguiti, fra gli altri, La zona cieca (2008, premio selezione Campiello), Le luci nelle case degli altri (2009), Per dieci minuti (2013) e Qualcosa (2017). Esperta nell’e-splorare emozioni profonde e alchimie umane, è più abituata a farsi domande che a dare risposte. Non a caso la sua partecipa-zione al progetto LAGO prende spunto proprio da una domanda: “Mi sono sempre chiesta perché non siamo tutti gentili: ma non è estremamente più faticoso non esserlo?”. L’interior che la rappre-senta, Something kind, è uno spazio sognante in cui i libri abita-no librerie fluttuanti: la cornice perfetta per avvolgere un luogo accogliente dove l’immaginazione e il confronto scorrono liberi.

An expert in the exploration of deep emotions and human alchemies, she is more accustomed to asking questions than giving answers. Progettare la gentilezzaDesigning kindness

[IT] Alcuni progetti sono pianificati con anticipo, altri nascono aiu-tati dal caso. Never Stop living Seeding Kindness appartiene a questa seconda tipologia. Un incontro fortunato a un convegno a Venezia tra Daniele Lago e la sottoscritta, una sintonia di idee, di valori, di entusiasmi verso il nuovo. La voglia di raccogliere in-sieme una sfida: progettare la gentilezza. La scelta di affrontarla, coinvolgendo un gruppo di studenti, docenti e tutor motivati e appassionati. Come si dà forma a un design gentile? Il percorso congiunto è stato avviato con una settimana intensa di workshop a cui hanno partecipato studenti provenienti da diverse discipline (comunicazione, design & engineering, interni, moda, prodotto e servizi). A partire da una riflessione su cosa significhi un’esperien-za gentile, quali siano le parole ad essa associate, quali siano le relazioni da essa generate (verso le persone, gli oggetti e l’am-biente circostante) e come questa si declini in diversi contesti e culture, sono emerse nuove ipotesi di prodotti, servizi ed eventi in grado di incarnarla, stimolarla e disseminarla.

[EN] Some projects are planned ahead; others emerge with help from chance. Never Stop living Seeding Kindness belongs to the second category. A chance encounter at a conference in Ve-nice between Daniele Lago and myself, and discovery of shared ideas, values and excitement about the new. The desire to take up a challenge together: designing kindness. The decision to meet that challenge with a group of motivated, passionate students, teachers and tutors. How do you create gentle design? Our sha-red path began with an intense week of workshops with studen-ts coming from different disciplines (communication, design and engineering, interior design, fashion, products and services). Star-ting with reflection on what it means to have a kind experience, the words associated with kindness, what kinds of relationships it generates (with people, objects and the surrounding environ-ment) and how this is expressed in different contexts and cultures, new ideas emerged for products, services and events that embo-dy, stimulate and spread the concept.

[IT] Attraverso un approccio ampio, multidisciplinare e sistemico, la fase di ideazione è stata innervata sia da osservazioni sui com-portamenti umani, sia dal ricorso a tecnologie digitali e interatti-ve, abilitatrici e amplificatrici di esperienze gentili. I primi concept formulati si sono rafforzati grazie alla disponibilità di docenti e tutor, in un lavoro continuo e appassionato, insieme agli studenti nello sviluppo delle loro idee, e attraverso un confronto ripetuto e fecondo con LAGO. Azienda capace di mettere a disposizione le proprie preziose competenze artigianali, produttive, di comuni-cazione e conoscenza dei propri utilizzatori. L’esito è rappresen-tato da 9 modi di interpretare la gentilezza in luoghi e momenti diversi del nostro quotidiano in forma di prodotti, riti ed eventi. 9 stimoli per sensibilizzare, e sensibilizzarci, abbandonando com-portamenti aggressivi e arroganti, oggi quanto mai diffusi, a fa-vore di nuove forme di relazione. 9 progetti ambiziosi. Alcuni dei quali si mostrano e crescono in questa occasione, altri stanno germogliando in prodotti futuri, altri ancora sono rimasti semi in attesa di maggior attenzione. [EN] Using a broad, multi-disciplinary and systemic approach, the creative phase was infused with observations on human beha-viour and use of digital and interactive technologies – enablers and amplifiers of kind experiences. The initial ideas were stren-gthened in a continuous and intense process in which teachers and tutors worked with the students to develop their ideas and through repeated and fruitful conversation with LAGO, which contributed its invaluable artisan, productive and communication skills together with its knowledge of the people who use its pro-ducts. The result is represented in the form of nine ways of inter-preting kindness in different places and moments in our everyday lives, in the form of products, rituals and events. Nine stimuli for sensitising and becoming aware, leaving behind the aggressive, arrogant behaviour so common today, in favour of new forms of relating. Nine ambitious projects. Some are on view and expan-ding for this occasion, others are germinating for future projects and still others remain in seed form, awaiting further attention. Il comfort è garantito dalla seduta imbottita ed è reso personalizzabile attraverso un innovativo supporto interno che permette la regolazione in altezza dello schienale con un sempli-ce gesto della mano. 7 posizioni intermedie, per una regolazione in altezza fino a 10,5 cm, consentono di accomodarsi nel massimo comfort. La struttura della base, in legno nero o bianco, sostiene la seduta sagomata e imbottita che, come lo schienale, è perso-nalizzabile con tutti i tessuti, pelli ed ecopelli LAGO.

[EN] A chair with classical forms made contemporary by zero-milli-metre contact between the seat and the circle that forms the seat back. Comfort is guaranteed by the upholstered seat, and the chair is customisable thanks to an innovative internal frame that lets you quickly and easily regulate the height of the seat back. 7 intermediate positions, for regulating the height of the seat back up to 10.5 centimetres, ensuring maximum comfort. The structure of the base, available in black or white wood, supports the upholstered seat which, like the seat back, can be customised with any of the LAGO fabrics, leathers and eco-leathers.

[IT] “Gli oggetti buoni sono degli impareggiabili strumenti per am-plificare e rendere esecutivi pensieri cortesi nei confronti del pros-simo. Da progettista mi piace pensare che gli oggetti sono cassa di risonanza dei nostri sentimenti, oggetti gentili per persone gentili, strumenti che diventano dichiarazioni di intenti positivi, come una sedia che aspetta solo di sentirsi dire: “accomodati pure”! Ed ecco che la sedia si fa prossima e comunica per noi, in modo semplice e tangibile, un’umana sincera inclinazione all’ac-coglienza. Pensavo a questo quando disegnavo la sedia We”.

[EN] ’Good objects are peerless tools for amplifying and concretely inspiring kindness towards others. As a designer, I like to think that objects are a soundboard for our feelings, kind objects for kind people, tools that become declarations of positive intentions, like a chair that waits to hear you say: ‘make yourself comfor-table’, and then the chair draws up close and communicates for us, in a simple, tangible way, a sincere, human inclination towards making people feel welcome. That is what I was thinking about when I designed the We chair’.

Grazie allo schienale, rifinito completamente anche sul retro, il divano Air Wildwood rappresenta una soluzione adatta sia in appoggio a muro sia a centro stanza. Il calore del legno, ricco di venature, dialoga con l’essenzialità delle sedute. [IT] Un tavolo dalla forma pulita ed essenziale che crea un sugge-stivo senso di sospensione, giocando con la sottrazione alla vista di un elemento portante: una gamba. Il top è sostenuto da una materica gamba in legno e da un’invisibile lastra in vetro tempe-rato extrachiaro, assicurata al piano con un sistema di fissaggio integrato. Il piano è costituito da doghe di rovere di diverse lar-ghezze in finitura laccato nero, che danno un ritmo irregolare alla superficie.

[EN] A table with clean, essential lines that creates an evocative sense of suspension, playing on the apparent absence of one of its legs. The table top is supported by one wooden leg and one invisible sheet of extra-clear tempered glass, attached to the top using an integrated attachment system. The wooden planks of the table top are painted black and of varying widths, giving the surface an irregular rhythm.

[IT] Mezzaestate è un tessuto jacquard concepito attraverso un percorso di ispirazione onirica che ha come protagonista il fiore di Amaryllis: scultoreo e profumato, caratterizzato da petali carnosi e materici che si prestano ad un inaspettato impiego grafico. Il modulo reiterato, un bocciolo ai diversi stadi di fioritura, dà infatti origine ad un’idea di tessuto disciplinato e regolato da una griglia geometrica, ottenuto grazie all’impiego di un elemento progettuale romantico e gentile.

[EN] Mezzaestate (‘Midsummer’) is a jacquard fabric inspired by the world of dreams that features the Amaryllis flower. Sculptural and fragrant, the Amaryllis has thick, meaty petals that lend themselves to use as an unexpected graphic motif. The repetition of the module, a bud at various stages of development, actually creates the effect of a fabric with a geometric grid pattern, thanks to the use of a romantic, graceful design element.

[IT] I diversi colori della struttura, delle attrezzature interne e della schiena dell’armadio generano un elegante mood cromatico che gioca con la percezione dei volumi interni. La schiena può essere scelta in due diversi colori, per ottenere due effetti differenti. Anche il sistema di illuminazione è stato aggiornato con nuovi led integrati con luce calda, a zero emissioni e dalla durata infinita, migliorando il comfort visivo e la fruibilità dell’armadio.

[IT] The varied hues of the wardrobe’s structure, interior compo-nents and back generate an elegant chromatic mood that plays with the perception of interior volumes. The back can be in two different colours, creating two different effects. The lighting sy-stem has also been updated with new integrated LEDs that give off a warm light and zero emissions and have an infinite duration, making the light of the wardrobe easier on the eyes and the wardrobe itself easier to use.

[IT] Dotato di una tecnologia invisibile integrata nel piano, Air Wildwood T table è un tavolo interattivo in grado di scaricare e riprodurre musica. Il sistema si connette e si configura tramite smartphone grazie a una connessione Bluetooth. In seguito il ta-volo può essere indipendente dal device ed è in grado di connet-tersi a una rete Wi-Fi per lo streaming di tracce direttamente da Spotify o web-radio e tramite l’app LAGO Design è possibile gestire la riproduzione delle tracce. Potrà inoltre amplificare l’au-dio di telefonate e conference call: utilizzato come tavolo opera-tivo o per zone meeting e aree comuni, porterà innovazione e home-feeling anche in ambienti office. L’interattività diventa anche fisica e la riproduzione dei brani o le funzioni di chiamata potran-no essere interrotte e riprese anche con semplici gesture come un tap sulla superficie in legno del piano, che cela all’interno dei sofisticati sensori. Questa tecnologia è stata pensata per essere estesa anche ad altre tipologie di prodotto e per essere facilmen-te implementata con nuove funzionalità, nella visione di un sistema di arredi in grado di integrare con l’utilizzatore e di connettere più oggetti tra loro.

[EN] With invisible technology integrated into the table surface, the Air Wildwood T table is an interactive table that can download and play music. You connect and configure the system using a smartphone and Bluetooth. After that, the table can be indepen-dent of the device and connected to a Wi-Fi network for strea-ming tracks straight from Spotify or internet radio, and you can use the LAGO DESIGN app to manage the tracks. It can also raise the volume for phone calls and conference calls: used as a work table or in meeting rooms or common areas, it brings inno-vation and a home-like feeling to the office. The interactivity of the table is also physical, and the tracks and call functions can be interrupted and restarted with simple gestures, like a tap on the wood surface, which has sophisticated hidden sensors inside. This technology was also conceived for extension to other product types and easy expansion with new functions, in a vision of a furniture system that can integrate with the user and connect multiple objects to one another.

Guidata da un continuo spirito di ricerca, LAGO ha realizzato nuovi colori con cui arricchire l’interior degli spazi abitativi: in collaborazione con il Politecnico di Milano sono stati sviluppati nuovi colori che apportano fresche tonalità pastello dalle nuance delicate e naturali, aggiornando la palette di colori disponibili.

[IT] CASA LAGO è una nuova location che esprime la nostra idea di gentilezza, ovvero la nostra aspirazione a far sentire a casa in tutti i luoghi in cui scorre la vita. Uno spazio che riassume un percorso iniziato alcuni anni fa e che, ispirato a questo concetto, ha portato alla creazione di LAGO DESIGN NETWORK: una rete di luoghi connessi dal design LAGO e da un potente motore di comunicazione, creati per far sentire a casa anche al di fuori dell’ambiente domestico. CASA LAGO nasce dalla volontà di creare uno spazio “gentile” capace di accogliere diverse tipolo-gie di fruizione, interpretando i bisogni e i modi di intendere lo spazio a Milano. Situata a due passi dal Duomo, risponde alle esigenze di imprenditori e professionisti accogliendoli in uno spa-zio ad alto contenuto di design capace di favorire gli incontri, la vita, il business. CASA LAGO è completa di tutte le ambientazio-ni domestiche, perchè è a casa che LAGO vuol far sentire chi la sceglie. Sala da pranzo, Salotto, Appartamentino, Studio e Biblio-teca sono tutti spazi riservabili per eventi, conferenze, business meeting, presentazioni aziendali, press day ma anche cene e showcooking. [EN] CASA LAGO is a new location that expresses our idea of kindness, or rather our aspiration to make people feel at home everywhere they live their lives. A space that picks up a direction begun a few years ago and that, inspired by this concept, led to the creation of the LAGO DESIGN NETWORK, a network of pla-ces linked by LAGO design and a powerful communication engine, created to make people feel at home even while away from home. CASA LAGO developed out of the desire to create a ‘kind’ space that welcomes various kinds of use, interpreting the needs for and ways of understanding space in Milan. A short walk from the Cathedral, it serves the needs of business people and profes-sionals, welcoming them in a design-driven space that fosters encounters, life and business. CASA LAGO has all of the rooms you would normally find in a private home, since LAGO’s aim is to make the people who use it feel just like that, at home. The Sala da pranzo, Salotto, Appartamentino, Studio and Biblioteca can all be booked for events, conferences, business meetings, company presentations and press days, as well as dinners and cooking demonstrations. Whereas the Cucina is always open to everyone who uses CASA LAGO, and is the perfect place for business breakfasts, coffee breaks and aperitifs.

[IT] Il resort Cocoon Maldive, nuova eccellente location internazio-nale del Network LAGO, nasce dall’incontro tra l’approccio LAGO all’hospitality, che mira a far sentire il viaggiatore a casa ovunque, e l’approccio del gruppo Azemar, che trova nella la gentilezza il perno ideale su cui far ruotare la sua concezione di hotelleria, dall’ambiente allo staff. “Il segreto per creare un al-bergo con la giusta armonia è trasferire al proprio staff questo concetto. Se tutti comprendono e mettono in pratica questa sem-plice indicazione sarà facile mettere l’ospite a suo agio, capire le sue esigenze e regalare dei momenti unici e spensierati.”

[EN] The Cocoon Maldive resort, an exceptional new international location in the LAGO Network, emerged from the encounter between the LAGO approach to hospitality, which aims to make travellers feel at home everywhere they go, and that of the Aze-mar group, which sees kindness as the defining concept for its idea of the hotel business, from setting to staff. ‘The secret to creating a hotel with the right balance lies in transferring this concept to the staff. If everyone understands and puts this simple idea into practice, it is easy to put guests at ease, understand their needs and provide them with a unique, carefree stay.’

[IT] Alessandro Azzola, titolare di Azemar, condivide un aneddoto cruciale per lo sviluppo del suo concept di location in cui tutto, nelle sue strutture ricettive, dal design all’approccio dello staff, concorre ad offrire qualità, comfort e home-feeling: “Take your time (“prenditi il tuo tempo” o meglio “fai con calma/nessuna fretta” o meglio ancora “goditi il tuo momento”) è una frase che io sentii in una mia vacanza e un cameriere gentilissimo, dopo una lunga attesa per il tavolo, mi augurò una buona cena con questa frase. Io l’ho fatta mia perché mi piace dare il giusto valore al tempo, vissuto bene, senza fretta, dando le giuste attenzioni alle persone a cui tieni davvero.” La stessa attenzione che LAGO pone nel progettare gli spazi dell’accoglienza.

[EN] Alessandro Azzola, the owner of Azemar, shared an anecdote with us that was critical for the development of his concept of location in which everything about his hotels, from the approach to the staff, works together to offer quality, comfort and a ho-me-like feeling: ‘”Take your time” is a phrase I heard on one of my holidays, when a very cordial waiter, after a long wait for a table, used it as way of saying “enjoy your meal”. I adopted it because I like recognising the value of time, time spent well, wi-thout hurry, truly paying attention to the people you really care about.’ The same attention that LAGO pays to designing welco-ming spaces.

NEVERSTOPSHARINGKINDNESS.[IT] Siamo convinti che la gentilezza, veicolata tramite gesti e azio-ni cortesi, possa migliorare anche la vita negli spazi lavorativi. La ricerca della gentilezza si snoda quindi anche nell’ambiente che viviamo ogni giorno: LAGO FABBRICA, la nostra grande casa. Il progetto Never Stop Living Kindness, declinato all’interno del nostro ambiente lavorativo, è incentrato sulla codifica dei gesti gentili praticati quotidianamente e sulla loro mappatura, per in-dividuare quelli che hanno il potenziale per essere viralizzati e per innescare ulteriori azioni gentili. Riconoscerle è il primo passo per renderle contagiose; portarle anche al di fuori dell’ambiente lavorativo è un modo per condividerle e diffonderle. Iniziamo una rivoluzione mite che faccia la differenza, ogni giorno.

[EN] We are convinced that kindness, spread through gracious actions and gestures, can also change the way people experien-ce workspaces. Our search for kindness thus also leads through the place where we spend our days: the LAGO FABBRICA, our big house. The project Never Stop Living Kindness, as expressed in our own workplace, focuses on mapping and codifying kind gestures in everyday practice, to identify the ones with the poten-tial to be spread virally and trigger other kind actions. Identifying them is the first step in making them contagious. Bringing them outside the workplace is a way of sharing and spreading them. Let’s begin a gentle revolution that makes a difference, each and every day.
