European Innovation Council The EIC will support innovations with breakthrough and market-creating potential that currently face high risks due to the fragmentation of the innovation eco-system, lack of risk finance and risk aversion.
Pathfinder: grants(from early technology to pre-
commercial)
Accelerator: mainly EIC blended finance
(from pre-commercial to market & scale-up)
European Innovation Council
Will help creating markets of the future, scale up companies, provide more accessible and user-friendly
support, leverage private finance, more entrepreneurship and risk-taking
Two complementary instruments:
• Comunicare e condividere tali riflessioni nelle sedi appropriate
• Contribuire in maniera tempestiva ed efficace a iniziative di posizionamento nazionale da parte delle istituzioni competenti Carbone CONF18 APRE

Connecting to citizens: R&I MissionsMissions are expected to relate EU's research and innovation actions better to concrete needs of society and of citizens, and thus give them a much stronger visibility and impact.
R&I MissionsWill generate more impact, achieve better outreach,
improve cross-sectoral and cross-disciplinary cooperation, encourage a systemic approach and align
R&I instruments and agendas in Europe
Horizon Europe proposal defines mission characteristics and a few implementation modalities. Concrete missions will be co-designed with Member States, stakeholders and citizens during implementation (strategic planning).
• A mission will consist of a portfolio of actions intended to achieve a bold and inspirational as well as measurable goal within a set timeframe, with impact for science and technology, society and citizens that goes beyond individual actions.
Cosa sappiamo ad oggi?
International Cooperation effort of unprecedented scaleInternational Cooperation helps achieve greater impact in solving global challenges by aligning actions with other nations and regions of the world and by inviting partners from across the world to join EU action for sustainability, research and innovation excellence, and competitiveness.
International Cooperation
Will ensure effective tackling of global societal challenges; access to the world's best talents, expertise and resources; Enhanced supply and demand of innovative solutions
General opening for international participation Intensified targeted actions (flagship initiatives, joint calls, etc.)
Extended openness to association Third countries with good capacity in science, technology and innovation Taking into account objective of driving economic growth in Europe through
innovation
Open Science across the programme
Encouraging uptake of Open Science practices through earmarked research funding, including for activities to enhance researcher skills in Open Science and support reward systems that promote it
Monitoring system to ensure compliance with Horizon Europe provisions
FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable, re-usable) and Open Data: research data is open by default (with opt-out possibilities) and a data management plan is an obligation for all projects
Open Access to publications: no reimbursement of article processing charge (APC) for publications in hybrid journals
New approach to European Partnerships Co
-pro
gram
med
Based on MoUs / contractual arrangements; implemented independently by the partners and by Horizon Europe
Co-fu
nded
Based on a joint programme agreed by partners; commitment of partners for financial and in-kind contributions and integration of activities, while Horizon Europe also makes a financial contribution
Inst
itutio
nal Based on long-term
dimension and need for high integration, partnerships based on Articles 185 / 187 of the TFEU and the EIT-Regulation will be set-up and supported by Horizon Europe
Partnerships with public or private sector partners can achieve certain Horizon Europe objectives more effectively than the Union alone. A new generation of objective-driven and more ambitious partnerships in support of agreed EU policy objectives are planned to be set up.
