« Ecotono deriva dal greco oikos (casa) e

tonos (tensione) e con “ecotono”

vengono de�initi gli ambienti di

transizione, interposti tra altri ambienti

diversi fra loro.In fondo siamo tutti degli

ecotoners: viviamo tutti in un ambiente

di transizione, sospesi tra ieri oggi e

domani intimamente legati agli oggetti

che quotidianamente ci sempli�icano la

vita e sempre alla ricerca di nuovi che la

migliorino e ci permettano di essere più

padroni del nostro tempo. Il grande

obiettivo che accompagna il team di

ecotono ogni giorno è creare,

reinventare, migliorare, sempli�icare e

andare oltre la funzione originaria di

ogni prodotto. »

« The word “ecotone” was coined from a

combination of eco(logy) plus -tone,

from the greek tonos or Tension. In other

words it is a place where ecologies are in

tension.We are all ecotoners in the

heart!We live in transition hanging

between past and future but constantly

aiming at progress.We are closely linked

to objects, that every day simplify our

lives, but we are also always looking

sensations.The main purpose of our team

is creating, re-inventing, improving,

simplifying and going beyond original

function of each item. »

“Ricordiamo sempre con tenerezza le

tante ore passate da nostra madre in

fabbrica tra lancette , pennel l i e

imball i e i l tanto impegno di nostro

padre che quel la fabbrica la faceva

andare avanti .” In questo contesto ,

� init i gl i studi universitari Simone e

Francesco non hanno avuto dubbi ,

dovevano continuare quel l ’att ività

che dal 1979 era l ’ impegno e la

passione del la nostra famigl ia ,

guardando al futuro e al le nuove

esigenze. Hanno iniziato così a

r istrutturare i l modo di operare

del l ’azienda, cambiando

completamente l ’assortimento e le

col lezioni . L’ I tal ia non bastava più e

hanno aperto l ’azienda al mondo,

partecipando a � iere e trovando

nuovi c l ienti . I r isultat i hanno

cominciato a vedersi e nonostante la

cris i l ’azienda tornò a crescere.“Dal la

migl iorare le performace

nascere Ecotono.”

« We always warmly remember the hours

our mum was used to spend in the

factory, unfailingly working with paint

brushes and packagings, togheter with

our dad who was heading up everything

with the strongest commitment.Growing

up with this images, after the university,

both me and my brother decided to keep

this 30 years old society, which was our

parents’ greatest passion, but looking to

the future and to the newest needs which

were changing during the years .We

started to reorganize the society,

changing the assortments and the

collections.Italy seemed too small for us,

so we decided to attend to some

international fairs, opening our minds to

Europe and to the world and then we

began to see some good results.In that

moment Ecotono was born, from our

need to give to some design products the

possibility to improve.»

sono sorte lungo la Roggia Isacchina:

un corso d’acqua che attraversa tutto

i l centro storico di Nove, sul le cui

r ive sorgono due importanti mulini ,

nati per la preparazione degl i

impasti ceramici .

Solo grazie ad un sapere così

radicato nel nostro territorio e al la

presenza di maestranze famose a

l ivel lo internazionale , Ecotono ha

potuto e saputo svi luppare la sua

col lezione, che porta la tradizione

del la ceramica ad un nuovo

traguardo verso le esigenze di vita

contemporanee.”

Nove is one of the most important place

in which ceramic is produced.

The �irst factories arose along the small

river Roggia Isacchina, which passes

through the heart of Nove, and along

which there are two important mills that

were used for the preparation of the

ceramic dough.

Thank to this deep culture in which it

lives, Ecotono had the opportunity to

develop its collection, which brings the

ceramic tradition next to the

modern needs.»

I l concept Ecotono nasce dal la

consapevolezza di una “mancanza”

nel mondo del l ’arredamento, del

design e del l ’ i l luminazione,

di s fruttare le possibi l i tà

tecnologiche e di conseguenza di non

rispondere al l ’esigenza di avere

oggett i smart e connessi a l le funzioni

dei nuovi gadget tecnologici che

usiamo quotidianamente.

L’esempio più diretto è quel lo del

paragone con lo smartphone:

« Ecotono’s idea is to give a new term of

usability to our design objects. The

secret of all Ecotono items is

the multifuncionality.

The concept grows up from the

awareness that in the world of design

there’s a sort of lack of usability. We all

have smartphones and other smart

objects, but we cannot use them

contextually with our home furnishing

for example.

If we want to make a comparison,

Ecotono is like a smartphone: mobile

phones during the years extended their

functionalities, combining lots

of functions in just one device.»

I sol idi geometrici sono l ’anima del la l inea di lampade Icos , decl inata nei model l i da

tavolo , a sospensione o da parete . La mult i funzional ità eterea l ight&sound ha

guidato l ’ ideazione di questa serie di lampade, nel la quale i l dialogo tra forma e

funzione è sottol ineato dal le l inee geometriche dei corpi che ci r iportano ad

una dimensione materiale . La contrapposizione tra incorporeo e

tangibi le è accentuata dal la presenza di più material i natural i qual i legno, travertino e

ceramica. La lampada da tavolo , oltre a prevedere una sede per tutt i i devices ,

possiede un paralume/ampli � icatore sganciabi le che segue l ’utente nei suoi

spostamenti . Lo stesso, una volta separato dal corpo del la lampada, può essere

col locato in diverse posizioni . Le lampade a sospensione sono disponibi l i s ingolarmente

volontà di volere plasmare la ceramica per renderla apparentemente morbida

come un tessuto.Nasce spontaneamente dal sof� i t to , come

estensione di quest ’ult imo.I fori r ichiamano suggesioni oriental i , l ’arte

del r icamo che si fonde con quel la del la modellazione del la ceramica.

Una volta accesa la luce s i creeranno dei giochi di luce che i l lumineranno e

renderanno magico l ’ambiente .
