CLIMATE CHANGES
THIS IS OUR “NORMAL CLIMATE”QUESTO E’ IL NOSTRO CLIMA TIPICO
BUT SOMETIMES THERE ARE
MANY EVENTS THAT CAN CHANGE IT
…CLIMATES CHANGES
THIS EVENTS ARE CALLED…
Climate changes are sudden changes due to global warming of our planet. This
phenomenon leads to the melting of polar ice and other consequences that are
proving disastrous to ecosystems and then for ourselves, such as floods, sudden
storms...
CLIMATE CHANGES
carbonio rimarrà libera nell’aria e contribuirà al riscaldamento globale, causando così danni significativi all’ambiente.
The increase of carbon dioxide emissions has meant that it was concentrated in the atmosphere. The problem is that
the present concentration is the highest in the last 650,000 years, and even more. This increase is due in part to
emissions had in the newly industrialized countries, such as China and India. In nature there are systems that can
capture carbon from the atmosphere, but this capacity is shrinking year by year. This means that every year a
greater percentage of free carbon will remain in the air and contribute to global warming, causing significant damage
to the environment.
GREENHOUSE GASES IN THE ATMOSPHERE
OZONE’S HOLE
Because of pollutants released in the atmosphere, since the mid-seventies this periodic reduction has become bigger and bigger, so much to speak of the phenomenon as the "ozone hole". Ultraviolet rays,
which pass through the hole, can also cause a partial inhibition of photosynthesis in plants, causing a
slowdown in growth and, in the case of cultivated plants, a decrease of crops. UV rays can also decrease the photosynthetic activity of phytoplankton which is
located at the base of the marine food chain, thus causing a remarkable imbalance at the expense of
ocean ecosystems.
One of the consequences due to melting ice is the sea level raising, a process that is also occurring faster than expected. If the situation continues to worsen, this increase could jeopardize vast coastal areas, both in Europe and in the rest of
the world.
SEA-LEVEL RISE
CONSEQUENCES OF CLIMATE CHANGE
HEALTHClimate change will mainly affect children because they are particularly susceptible to diseases and to
effects of air pollution. The change in the availability of food and water will probably cause problems such as forced migrations, especially for coastal populations. Even adults and the elderly will be affected by Global
Warming, especially those with respiratory and cardiovascular problems. To understand the gravity of the situation consider that in 2003 heat and drought
caused 35,000 deaths only in Europe.SALUTE
morti.
ECOSYSTEMSClimate change is having consequences on the fragile balance of ecosystems. In the oceans some species are migrating north because of water warming. Especially in
tropical areas rapid changes in temperature will cause the extinction not only of many
animal species, but also of plants, flowers and fruit. However in northern Europe the
increase of insects caused by the heat will cause serious damage to birch forests.
FOOD , AGRICULTURE AND FISHINGGlobal warming has already caused
reductions in corn, wheat and barley crops. It is expected a worsening of the situation that
will affect mainly Asia and Africa, the two continents most affected by food shortage. Moreover, this decline will also involve the
activity of fishing.CIBO, AGRICOLTURA E PESCA
