GENERAL DESCRIPTIONKITSTAT is an integrated radio station in which the equipment

container consists of a special 20’ container fitted out to

contain, during transport, all the station infrastructures,

mounting accessories, radiant systems, storage batteries,

electrical and radio equipment.

The aim is to provide a product which can be quickly and easily

transported and assembled on site, without any need for civil

works and suitable for any environmental conditions.

The EQUIPMENT AND POWER CONTAINER, which has a

reinforced structure with two access doors, divided by anintermediate partition to create two separate rooms (E or A2

and A), of similar area.

ROOM E is used during transport to contain the support

infrastructures, radiant systems and accessory components.

Once installation has been completed, it is used as a power

room for housing the storage batteries or as an additional

equipment room (room A2), which can be used by a second

independent operator.

ROOM A is however used only for housing the electrical and

radio equipment.

Conversion of the power room (room E) into a second

equipment room (room A2), can be achieved by means of a

special upgrade kit (Art. KSUA).

This kit includes an intermediate “movable” wall between the

power room (E or A2) and the equipment room (A). This allows

the area of the two rooms to be divided up to suit operating

needs.

ROOM A (electrical and radio equipment room) is thermally

insulated with polyurethane panels which are 50 mm thick with

a density not less than 40 kg/m3. The floor consists of a 40 mm

thick layer of insulating material and a further layer of 20 mm

marine plywood.

The value of the global heat exchange coefficient (K) is less

than 0.59 W/m2K.

On request, room A can also be equipped with all the accessories

and equipment needed for station operation, such as:

• electrical and lighting system (art. KSIE)

• integrated power station (art. KSEI)

• alarm system (art. KSIA)

• fire prevention system (art. KSIN)

• air conditioning system (art. KSIC)

• equipment room grounding kit (art. KSGR).

During transport, ROOM E or A2 (materials storage

area/power room or, as an alternative, second electrical and

radio equipment room), contains all the system accessories

such as cables, antennas and their fixing and grounding

accessories, as well as station infrastructures such as guyed

pole, installation kit, base structure with ballast containers,

steel wires, grounding system and fencing.

This room can be converted into a second equipment room

(Room A2), similar to the first equipment room (Room A), by

an optional upgrade kit (Art. KSUA), allowing the radio station

to be shared by two operators.

Room E can be equipped with storage batteries (art. KSBA).

The BASE STRUCTURE, on which the container and all the

station infrastructures are secured, consists of a grid structureof metal beams, bolted together and reinforced by horizontal

and vertical windbraces.

Stability is ensured by 6 ballast boxes which are connected to

the base beams and can be filled on site, with local materials

such as concrete, bricks, stones, sand, etc.

The maximum ground area taken up is less than 38 m2, while the

maximum load on the ground is less than 2 Kg/cm2.

The base structure has been designed to ensure overall vertical

stability of the station, even when installed on ground which is

not levelled.

KITSTAT can be supplied with an optional grounding kit

consisting of copper conductors, busbars and copper-plated

rods (art. GRPI).

The ANTENNA SUPPORTING POLE, erected on top of the

container, consists of flanged cylindrical segments (Ø 194 mm)

and an antenna mount at the summit (Ø 114 mm). The

maximum length of each pole element is 3 m.

The pole is stabilized by several rows of guys which allow a

maximum height of 31 m to be reached.

The structure is reinforced with windbraces on the base frame.

Both the guys and windbraces are anchored to the outer end of the

ballast weights; no additional foundations are therefore required

and the maximum area taken up by KITSTAT is extremely compact,

corresponding to the outer limits of the ballast weight boxes.

The pole allows both panel and dish antennas to be installed at

its summit.

Accessories include night-time and daytime aircraft warning

systems conforming to ICAO or FAA Standards (art. S….….).

The CLIMBING LADDERS are rung type with "T" rail safety

climb system (art. URPI ….). Top and bottom stops, complete

with intermediate, fold-up footrest, approximately every 9 m.

To prevent access by unauthorized persons, the ladder isequipped with an anti-climb device.

The VERTICAL CABLE TRAY consists of shaped “L” sections

bolted to the pole and positioned next to the climbing ladder

Telecommunication networks need radio stations which are able to ensure quality standards, fast installation, limited costs, easy

transportation, avoiding, in some cases, foundations works.

KITSTAT, the integrated radio station developed by calzavara, provides an answer to the most widely varying needs of radio

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

For air-conditioned rooms, environmental operating conditions

are as follows:

- external air temperature: max. +45 °C / min. -20 °C

- external relative humidity: max. 70%

- internal air temperature: max. +30 °C / min. +10 °C

- internal relative humidity: max. 50%.

FLATNESS OF THE INSTALLATION AREA

Depending on the configuration, the installation area is no larger

than 6.0 x 6.20 m, equivalent to about 38 m2. In this area, the

maximum difference in level must be no greater than +/-3 cm.

Greater differences in level can be compensated by levelling the

ground and inserting special steel spacer plates.

TRANSPORT AND ASSEMBLY

Kitstat is designed to be transported like a normal 20’ container

using the ISO corner lifting blocks.

On-site assembly is simple and the pole can be installed using anormal derrick, included in the optional installation kit

(art. KSKI).

The integrated assembly system (art. KSMI), which also includes

the installation kit (art. KSKI), entirely avoids the use of cranes

and other lifting equipment, even for positioning the container on

the base structure.

The installation of all station infrastructures takes about 1-2

working days.

EQUIPMENT

The electrical system provides all component protection and

personal safety functions. It is controlled from the mains supply

switchboard (QAR), installed next to the entry door.

A power generator can be connected to the external power socket.

The lighting system comprises a ceiling fitting with 36 Wfluorescent tubes and an emergency light.

calzavara is able to supply alternative solutions to meet any

specific Customer requirement.

The fire extinguishing system, installed on the access door to the

equipment rooms, consists of two x 2 kg CO2 extinguishers and

one 6 kg power extinguisher, installed inside the equipment room.

An optical sensor detects the presence of smoke inside the rooms.



The integrated power station has the following functions:

• protection of a.c. circuits (400/230 V)• protection of d.c. circuits (48 V)

• uninterrupted 48 V d.c. supply via rectifiers and backup

batteries.

• monitoring, control and management

• detection of faults and transferable alarms.



The alarm system provides:

PLC power station faults, low battery voltage, mains faults,

power station failure, non urgent failure, door open, air

conditioner fault.

The air-conditioning system consists of two monobloc units having

the following main characteristics:

• 230 V a.c. - 50 Hz main supply

• 48 V d.c. emergency supply

• electrical power drawn by each unit: 2.5 kW• nominal cooling power of each unit: 5.2 kW (24 °C, 50%

UR/35°)

• nominal air flow 1200 m3/h

• heating power 4.5 kW.

This is a thermo-acoustically insulated equipment room with an

access door. It is also equipped with a movable middle partitionwall, which is also thermo-acoustically insulated.

It can accomodate the following systems:

• 1 or 2 conditioners (art. KSIC)

• 1 power station (art. KSEI)

• 1 electric and lighting system (art. KSIE)

• 1 alarm system (art. KSIA)

• 1 fire extinguihing system (art. KSIN)

The partition wall between the two equipment rooms, which is

bolted to the internal walls of the container, can be installed in

pre-set positions.

The kit is designed to dissipate to ground the electrical discharge

picked up by the lightning protection system.

For further information and ordering instructions, please consult

the technical sheet ‘Grounding protection’ in the ‘SITETOOLS

Radio Station Accessories’ section on page 171.

Allows system grounding inside the equipment room by means of

a copper bar which runs along the whole room. All the grounding

cables of each system are connected to the copper bar.


Configurations complying with ICAO and FAA Standards are

available.

The items available are:

With regard to flight obstacle signalling, the structure will be

painted as for ICAO Standards - Annex 14 (Upper third portion

with red - RAL 2002; white - RAL 9010).

A primer coat will be applied to a thickness of 40 microns. Finally,

the primer coat will be followed by the application of two coats of

epoxy paint, 40 microns each.

The kit includes an aluminium derrick comprising 3 sections of

3 m each and a suitable toolbox (screws, spanners, screwdrivers)

for assembly of KITSTAT.

and 4 hydro-electric jacks at the base corners of the container to

allow lifting.

INSTALLATION KIT


FENCING

The handrail, about 1 m high, includes angle profiles bolted to the

4 top corners of the container and a steel wire stretched on two

levels round the whole container perimeter.

The armour plated door has the same dimensions as the standard

door, but with 4 locking points.

The fencing, about 2 m high, comprises angle profiles bolted to

the metal ballast support frames and grating fencing surrounding

the whole perimeter of the kit station.
